Dr. Yeo didn't say they weren't healthy... just that the science doesn't support the claims that are attributed to them. Perhaps it's time to wake up and realize that your being manipulated, not by the BBC, but by the various promoters of veganism. Perhaps it is healthy, but the science is far from conclusive at this point.

    • @pattigee1

Dr Yo seems to think plant based dies don't cure cancer? How about all the deaths under-reported by the so-called health professionals using chemo, radiation, surgeries and drugs to treat cancer. Dr Yo did not give a balanced approach to his findings, did not ask any cancer patients themselves how they are doing by eating a plant-based diet. Think he prefers to eat meat.

Insignificant? Wtf are you talking about? You don't need a PhD to ask questions, of anyone, about anything ever. Dr Campbell should comfortably be able to answer any question put to him without feeling above it.
Big pharma? 😂 the usual comeback, what about the massive financial interests in plant food companies? American heart association funded from the start by garbage seed oil producers like procter and gamble.
This man defends himself instead of answering the question, making it personal only and not scientific. You insult the person making an enquiry and avoid the topic to cover your ass.

It was like the narrator was trying to say there were limitations in Dr. Campbell's study....which there are in ALL studies. And that was the only thing he could focus on. The other two examples used in the documentary had clear lack of research supporting their claims, Dr. Campbell was building a case for the interference of animal based protein at a time where there was no evidence. It's not his fault if the academic community doesn't want to try to replicate his enormous study or try to test it different ways...they're too busy being paid by Sanofi to do genetics research instead. Terrible documentary BBC.

He looked red in the face and quite unhealthy looking at the start. He raised his voice at Colin Campbell and shows he has no respect for him at all. I remember watching that interview in Australia a couple of years ago, and having read The China Study and being a great fan of Dr. Colin Campbell, admiring him greatly, and having reaped the rewards from a mainly plant based diet, as a result of him and other like minded doctors and researchers, starting with Nathan Pritikin all those years ago, I was disappointed and disgusted by the attitude of the interviewer, his arrogance and lack of respect for Dr. Campbell. It was an interview that could have done a lot of good, but as you say the interviewer obviously had other intentions right from the start.

I remember watching that documentary and being disgusted with it and the way it treated Dr T Collin Campbell. It was clear what was going on. I am well versed in veganisum and its a shame that people where being dissuaded from a good healthy diet. I wander if some people will die because of hearing the wrong information, does the BBC have blood, on its hands

The lack of integrity began with the interviewer not revealing what faction funded his work. Anything after that is suspect. Campbell's interests are completely transparent, so must any other party's.

Great to hear Dr. T. Colin Campbell talk in person about this sordid episode. I've read his written response. Well done, Plant Based News!

I would like to hear T.Collin.Campbells rebuttle to the supposed debunking of his book.
Many people are always saying how his book has been debunked, yet doctors like Greggor, Barnard, McDougall and many othe prominant vegan doctors still refer to it..
I would actually like to hear from all of them how his book is still credible and the debunking is full of shit..

Debunked by whom? It has never been "debunked' by independent peer-reviewed scientists. Bloggers, RUclipsrs, and newspapers have all taken stabs at it, but the science stands firm. The "China Study" is just the book that summarizes hundreds of studies, so "debunking" it would require disproving an entire facet of cancer epidemiology. Since its publication, there have been hundreds of studies investigating the links between animal protein and various cancers. Nutritional science upholds the central thesis of China Study; that the consumption of animal proteins cause various cancers.

A misnomer of a title if there ever was one. LOL. Campbell got so tired of being knocked down that he finally gave up and said on camera, (paraphrasing) "My current beliefs are not based solely on the China Study".
Good thing considering he ignored the high correlation between higher wheat consumption and poor health. Not to mention he threw out the data that showed very high meat consumption communities were in better health than neighbors in the same region.
Just like the meat-eating Maasai are bigger, stronger, and healthier than their farming neighbors, the Kikuyu.

The Raw Cavi-art In his new revised version of the China study he goes into this a bit about the debunking stuff.

Denise Minger doesn't seem to believe in her own debunking because she still eats a high-carb mostly whole foods plant-based diet. Granted, it's not vegan by any means, but it still contains a "toxic" amount of carbs according to many Paleos. You all should watch her presentation at a Paleo conference called "Lessons from the Vegans" which is available on RUclips, it's pretty interesting.

i watched this programme and seen how easily the person presenting the programme with an agenda biased the programme, being British I was appalled with this particular Horizon episode as unlike previous episodes it appeared very biased in one direction.
Having read China Study and watched several films and documentaries on both sides of the argument I agree with Colin T. Campbell on how unscientific and biased by funding this episode was.
