After watching this film I immediately changed to a completely VEGAN diet. I am a type 2 diabetic and have been for years. By switching to this diet, and ditching all sodas, processed sugars, and terrible crap I have never felt better. I've went from 305lbs on July 1st to 273lbs on August 11th. And I am still losing. I thank this film so much for opening my eyes and putting me on the right track.

Maybe you should have ditched most of the stuff even before watching this film Jamie(common sense and all)...just saying :-)

    • @louisacapell
      @louisacapell 7 лет назад +88

Jamie Wyatt can you see that it isn't just the vegan diet that helps you get healthy. What actually helped you get better was getting rid of all the processed crap and sugar and soda and things like that. You could have also gotten healthy doing a low-carb high-fat diet. Of course by high-fat we don't mean McDonald's cheeseburgers. You need healthy grass-fed animal fat and free range chicken eggs and things like that. You could even use vegetarian fats like avocados and coconuts. But you've got to stay away from those processed Killers like vegetable oil and trans fat and hydrogenated oils. So it's not the vegan diet that helped you it's the ditching all of the garbage that you are putting in your body.

Louisa Capell agreed, if you're diabetic cutting out sodas and processed sugars should be the main focus

    • @bigj0550

It's more the fact that this film and it's message really put things into perspective for me. I have done these things before and never had the results I have had with the vegan diet change. Even while I was not drinking sodas and consuming sugars I still had issues with things like blood glucose and neuropathy in my legs. The vegan plant based diet has helped eliminate that. It's not that I should've done some of these things before... but more that adding the plant based diet has helped substantially.

michelle dinovo thanks for your reply, after 16or so weeks i have gone through a lot of changes, a heart problem i had had for over 10yrs disappeared the first week, a re-flux problem of more than 8yrs had gone by the second week, a 5yr old ear infection also disappeared ,i had limped on my right knee from a child, due to juvenile arthritis, that has also gone, during my late 40s my right hand was becoming weak, the pain was slowly progressing with the arthritis,i became unable to take off bottle tops, and jar tops, during my second month as a vegan that all changed , i now have strength back, and can once again take off jar and bottle tops painlessly , morning headaches stopped in the first month, i now sleep through the night, first time for 11yrs, which is an indication that my prostate is in recovery as i would get up 3 times a night to wee, i still feel pain in those areas of long deep arthritis, the spine, elbows,if i turn my head to far, but arthritis is not attacking me every day, i am now medication free a first since i was 15yrs old, from 9pills a day to zero, for the first time in a long time i feel well ,inside, not to have pain every day is for me a new experience, one that i still think may be a dream, but a pinch every now and then assures me i am not asleep, thanks for your interest,

Whereas mammals produce milk exclusively for their young, bees produce more honey than they need as emergency stores. Harvesting honey, at least when done correctly, only takes the excess that is not needed by the hive (and is also good hive maintenance, otherwise they hive will swarm and end up getting somewhere they are unwanted and get sprayed by an exterminator)

I was told by "The best doctor in the hospital" that I had a chronic disease, that I was going to live with 13 pills a day forever and that I should avoid vegetables. Yeah right, that didn't make sense to me. So I am vegetarian/vegan for 6 years already with not a single synthom, not a single pill, it was the best decision ever. Plant-based news promotes propaganda that fish is unhealthy and actively prompts vegan junk food from subway and KFC and McDonald's so what is it is vegan about your health or the animals if it is about health then why do you make videos when a non-vegan restaurant make vegan junk food I but go all on abord when talking about unprocessed food like fish I wonder
      Plus
The title should be why vegan doctors like to hate anything that's non-Vegan I can make a whole video about why brown rice is unhealthy because the high level of arsenic cause cancer so therefore brown rice is unhealthy what about the DHA IN Fish is better than ALA in plants and much more bioavailable I think I would rather listen to what longest living healthy Japanese are eating whole food unprocessed diets
just because most vegans are less likely to smoke and drink alcohol and eat less processed food doesn't mean that vegan diets are Heather at all the fact that pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here.
This study on vegans' use of saying vegan being Heather than meat-eater has clearly shown the opposite true with the fish-eater this doesn't mean vegan diets are unhealthy but not optimal as whole food plants based with some fish since this diet provides all the nutrients from plants and B12 DHA and more biologically available vitamins A and D, therefore, non-vegan diets can be slightly Heather than WFPBD
Not all vegans eat this diet vegans do eat refined carbs also added vegetable oils are and mock meats are not correct to say that vegans are automatically Heather because their diet is vegan
Any idea, why pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here. Thanks for your reply.
The level of mercury in fresh Atlantic salmon is 220 parts per billion mercury so which means
That a 3oz serving is equal to 85 grams of Salmon
      220/1000000000 equal
0.00000022 grams of mercury x1000 to milligrams then it's 0.00022 milligrams x1000 to micrograms then it's 0.22 microgram x85 for 3oz serving 18.7 micrograms of mercury
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that 0.1 mcg per kg) of body weight per day is the maximum safe dose of mercury.
      So 18.7 mcg from fish
      I am weighing about 73kg that's about 161 lb
      So
      Roundabout 0.10mcg per lb
so my exposure Is within the safe non-risk limit if I eat 85 grams every day which is a lot I eat about 85 grams of salmon 3 times a week so my total consumption a week is about 255grams that's equal to 9oz a week
Now we have to x3 the exposure of mercury that's come at
      18.7/161 = 0.116149068322981 x3 = 0.348447204968943
      Roundabout 0.35
I have to 7x the safe expound limit of 0.1 x7 = 0.7 mcg per pound per week is safe to limit
I only would get 0.35 which is well within the safe limit so at this level heavy metals like mercury are completely harmless to get a negative effect you need to be exposed serval times the upper safe limit so you are wrong about
fish contains omega 3 and DHA that helps the brain development and lower heart disease anyways if you are still concerned about this explore it safe to eat a fish a couple of times a week the benefits of fish completely outweigh the negative so stop spending misinformation
If you still are stubborn about not eating heavy metal you do know that you're exposed to heavy materials at a far higher amount from second-hand smoke brown rice has arsenic that's doesn't mean that brown rice is unhealthy like fish the benefits outweighs the drawbacks of combining fish with prominently plant-based is optimal for health 👍
nice logic very mon biased video 😂😂

I decided to start on a vegan diet about 6 months ago. I slimmed way down and felt a lot better within the first month. I don't try to persuade anyone nor talk much about it. But I'm convinced it's greatly improved the quality of my life. The fact that I don't have to kill other animals to feel this good is nice benefit as well. I think Dr Bernard is a very credible source on nutrition.

His humor and way of debunking nonsense in very respectful ways are a joy to listen to. I wish I had his way of phrasing ideas and concepts. He is the epitome of good behavior and (dare I mention the word?) manners.
Love watching this man being interviewed. His grasp of his subject is huge and if he doesn’t know something or hasn’t read (rarely happens) something he says so. Wish more interviewees (regardless of subject matter) would follow his lead on being interviewed. He presents his answers and comments in a calm, reasoned manner, usually backed up by science.
And finally, if his age, as some commentators suggest is 65 ... then he is a tremendous advertisement for the way of life he advocates.
Good health and long, healthy and happy life to all.

I then researched other publications to verify information and decided to change my diet. I needed to lose 20 lbs and felt awful. My doctor told me to eat MORE meat..so I did, and it did not help me..that was 7 months ago. I stayed the same weight and felt tired, exhausted. I was eating dairy and meat every day, twice even.
We now feel like we can maintain a plant based diet for the rest of our lives. We've found great recipes, don't miss meat or dairy at all. I've lost 5 lbs already, within a month. Those are just the thick-headed people, lol (the far end of the spectrum?). I think how each person grew up and developed plays an important factor in their attention span to listen. And heavy weighing factors can be long traditions, parenting, marketing, schooling, etc. For me it was two-fold: 1) a health issue and 2) I've always tried to think outside of the box since I was young. Some people do have seeds planted but just don't have the right growing conditions, if that makes sense. I think another analogy is like pouring sand through a small funnel; if you leave it alone it slowly comes out - but, if you try to force it through in attempts to speed it up, it just clogs up.

The earth is flat ... and Dr. Barnard knows that, he is a controlled freemason doctor ... telling some truth about diet, but mixing in lies such as the fake globe earth. That's the way the crappy freemasons/elites roll. When I asked him once why he doesn't tell the complete truth about certain things ... he wrote to me ... "I can't" ... and when I discussed the fact that mastectomies don't do anything to prevent or cure breast cancer ... he replied, "I know, but there's nothing I can do about it." He's a good doctor in many ways ... but his hands are tied by his freemason controllers.

can't understand why, if they have an invested interest money wise you can understand the reasoning behind it but if your just a meat eater why be so against people turning to veganism when there is so much much benefit to it? for a start we wouldn't have a failing nhs here in england, less deforestation, less co2, less torture and abuse of animals and i'm not just talking about farm animals, how many vegans are there that abuse dogs, cats, foxes etc..?
I can only put people's hatred of veganism down to them not liking change in the world?

I am close to 100 % Whole Food Plant Based and it all started years ago with Neal Barnard's 21-Day Kickstart book. 10 days in and I was hooked on becoming a healthy eater. Some little puffy areas on my ankles that had been there for over 10 years were gone. I had figured they were just natural but seeing them totally gone was awesome. He was my first healthy-eating expert and I still often refer to his books. I still use his great recipes , tweaking some to be SOS free.
He may have a save-the-animals&the-planet agenda but I don't think it is his top agenda. At least he doesn't bombard me with it while teaching human health.
As a Christian who knows Jesus personally, I really am going to live forever. 👍 Dr Barnard is helping me enjoy a long healthy life here on earth which enables me to live a life of compassion towards people and to be a good steward of God's creation !

Last I checked spinach had iron, and with it lightly steamed and with a splash of lemon juice, there is no build up of calcium deposits that can contribute to future kidney stones.
Kale has lots of calcium, especially if eaten raw, such as in a kale, avocado, red onion salad.
Phytochemicals actually target cancer stem cells. If one researches on PubMed and other such sites, this can be verified
Please use Ecosia.org as your research engine, they are involved in reforestation efforts

For 50 years I suffered with migraines. I tried different remedies including medication, exercise, diets (like the diet recommended in Heal Your Headache by the Johns Hopkins expert on headache), etc. Some of these remedies helped somewhat, but the migraines returned. More recently, within the last 5-10 years I started having peripheral artery pain, sciatica, pain in the back of my neck. I thought this was just a matter of aging: Live with it. About 3 years ago I decided to follow a paleo diet because eggs, meat, etc were so nutritious. They certainly were delicious. But why did my pain never get better? I would never follow a vegan diet! How dangerous! Where do these people get their protein, their nutrition? When I heard that some pregnant women were following a vegan diet I would become incensed! How dare they endanger their babies. I bought the traditional animal products' line totally. Finally, I heard about nutritionfacts.org and started to question my beliefs. Now after following a whole foods plant based diet for the past five months I can say that all my migraine, sciatica, neck pain and leg pain is gone. Maybe this diet doesn't work for everyone, but if you have migraine pain try Dr. McDoogles ultimate weight loss diet or Chef AJ's ultimate weight loss diet. The greens were and are key to my transformation. Try to eat as many greens and low density vegetables earlier in the day. Not only do they stave off food cravings, but I found that when I woke up with a headache, which used to happen quite often, I would eat about 10 ounces of kale (with the stems) and my headache would disappear. Now I just eat as many greens as I feel like to begin the day. Later in the day I eat legumes and potatoes. No pain.

I am a meat eater. And the more I study on this stuff like this. The more I am believing. I am diabetic. Also been low on most my vitamins. Have had to have 5 shots of B12. Having to take supplements for it. I love Cheese. But I notice anymore how I feel after I eat it. I feel horrible as in hurting all over. My doctor says I need protein. I asked her what about beans. She said that is good. I looked up and beans have more calcium then chicken does. It is hard to get off that stuff. Starting today. I'm trying to wing off soda. I already don't eat red meats. I don't drink milk. I went to Nut milk. I have bad allergies all the time. And it's frustrating. I'm on a fixed income. And when I was eating healthier. I found it cheaper.

She has bone density of an eight-year-old and is producing low growth hormones. As for protein, he said just make sure they're getting enough. *For The Animals. We love animals so much. I myself have been on and off Vegan/Vegetarian for years. Completely went vegan with the kids. Thank you for everything you do.

The fact that you need supplements should be a big hint that the vegan diet is not natural. Where do you suppose our paleolithic ancestors purchased their B12 from?

If you still are stubborn about not eating heavy metal you do know that you're exposed to heavy materials at a far higher amount from second-hand smoke brown rice has arsenic that's doesn't mean that brown rice is unhealthy like fish the benefits outweighs the drawbacks of combining fish with prominently plant-based is optimal for health 👍
nice logic very mon biased video 😂

Thank you for this amazing interview @Plant Based News!!! I like the way Dr. Barnard talks, he is not aggressive with his arguments and he's got the science behind him. I love how he goes "Not done yet" in the end. Great effort in 2017 and keep it going! As Nelson Mandela said: "It always seems impossible, until it's done."

Every time I have heard Dr Barnard speak he is always very informative and polite. He tells the truth, but in a way that doesn't seem like as attack. He has a very good character and demeanor about him. You can get a good vibe from him that he's definitely being genuine.

Being a Seventh-Day Adventist, I watched lectures by Prof. Walter Veith about milk and diet. I stopped drinking milk and dairy products, then my chronic back pains ended. Now I am reducing my meat intake, and my shoulder joint stopped aching. Also no constipation and other dietary diseases. I would advise anyone, if you can't be a vegan/vegetarian because of your faith, then do it because of the science that proves that animal products are harmful and plant based diet is healthier.

I still do small amounts of cheese occasionally especially when eating out and/or on the road (vegetarian dishes)and minute amounts of butter sometimes when cooking at home. 100% plant based whole food besides that and feeling great.

Numbers don't lie. My total cholesterol was 271 and after I stop to eating eggs, cheese, milk and eat less meat my total cholesterol went down to 185. So to the people that don't believe plants base diet work they should try it and get the cholesterol test done and they will see what is truth or false.

Clay the truth hurt...People don't want to hear it....Never will...The moment you explain to them that what they do is their responsibility and their sickness is their fault (terrible) than they refuse it

No trust me...I don't need data to know my personal truth and my own struggle for health in this sick cancerous society...If you continue willingly poisoning yourself, it's absolutely your prerogative, but let's not go around blaming nature, or bad luck, when your the one actively killing yourself and deluding yourself whilst eating the poison that corporations feed you...And want you to keep defending that delusion like you're doing it now...Try to hold on to the thing that's actively killing you

The only thing I don't agree with Dr Barnard in this interview is his statement that "all" health authorities and people in general know now that you don't need meat or dairy in the diet to be healthy. If only that were true!! I think most people actually have bought into the industry big-money confusion & lies that tell them that butter is back, eggs don't raise cholesterol (or that cholesterol is nothing to worry about), that milk and meat are natural and essential for health, & that foods like fruits, beans, potatoes, and whole grains are dangerous carbs that should be avoided.
