      PLANT BASED NEWS 1:50 I am an avid plant based eater and absolute supporter. I am Curious however Milton mills is very adamant on "only plants make protein" which brings my questions mushrooms are supposedly billions of years old, possibly older than plants themselves and have protein. I would just want to know what is his take on that

      I already know all I need to know about Dr. Mills. He's an apologist for one of the worst animal abusers on the planet. You know who I mean, Dr. Mills. You publicly shamed Gia Mona-Campola for being upset that Michael Vick was named a pro bowl captain by the NFL. SHAME on you, Dr. Mills! Do not call yourself a vegan; you are not a vegan. You are someone who eats plants and forgives animal abusers - HORRIFIC animal abusers. Michael Vick is a sociopath and should never be held up as a role model.

    I became vegan at 47 after watching what the health, reading a ton of books, and watching every webinar I could find! Lost over 30 lbs. Removed myself from 5 medications, 2 where for diabetes! Love Dr. Mills scientific approach b c I'm a science nerd! I'm a registered Respiratory Therapist, the only thing we learned about nutrition was that lung and asthma patients should avoid milk and dairy due to mucus production. I wish we all had this knowledge of veganism 30 yrs ago! My daughter has adapted to my way of eating, working on my husband. I think my son will never change but it won't stop me from trying. Now I have friends wanting me to post pics on FB of what I eat bc they are so curious. Now I'm passing along the knowledge to others. It's so exciting! Cheers to good health to all!

      Ronda Clary My husband is now 85% plant-based but he is off dairy 100% and his doctor asked him about his asthma if he needed another inhaler. My husband exclaimed that he breathes now perfectly and had no need of his inhaler or his nebulizer. He declared "I am cured!" Considering how stubborn he has been, the best proof is when we test the data and test this diet for ourselves. I have lots 48 lbs. My husband who cheats a bit with his diet has lost 15 lbs.

      @Jo S - "Vegan" is a meaningless term, as is "Paleo" and "Keto," since people often follow their own interpretation of a given diet. What specific foods are you eating? Are you eating lots of high-fat foods like avocados, nuts, olive oil, etc? Do you have Diabetes? Are you overweight or obese? (Many people today think they're "average," but are either overweight or obese. Overweight is the new "normal," sadly.)

    As a fellow physician I applaud Dr Mills for standing strong against the pushback from others in our profession. I find it quite humorous when other docs try to shoot down the plant based ideology when they have had profoundly little nutrition education in their training. I graduated from a top medical school in the US and my nutrition training consisted of reading a paperback book and writing a paper on that book (took about 6 hours out of 4 years of medical school to learn all I needed about nutrition to be a physician...much sarcasm). Physicians must re-educate themselves if they truly desire to optimally help their patients!!

    • @imhim94ivan
      @imhim94ivan 6 лет назад +4

      Once upon a time, we could get our b12 from plants as the soil was fertile with nutrients such as b12. Because of modern farming techniques, we have stripped the soil of the nutrients such as b12, so there is no natural way of getting sufficient b12. Nowadays, the only way of getting b12, whether vegan or not, is through supplements. The only difference between vegans and meat eaters is that vegans take direct supplements. Meat eaters get secondary b12 through animals that have taken b12 supplements :)

      In his Feb 2016 Presentation, he mentioned that he had a triple disk fusion because of an accident that he had years before. He knew that recovery would be slow, but he looks great!!

    Thank you for this amazing video with Dr Mills!!! I met him at VegFest too and asked him how medical students can get into promoting plant-based nutrition and a healthy lifestyle like he does. The medical school curriculum reforms are absolutely imperative so I'm really glad he touched upon that. I've recently had other students tell me that 'nutrition' is not an exact science and I forgot to ask him about responding to that!

    1. I like that vest you're wearing.
    2. Dr Mill is looking slim. Good on him. I feel he's been overlooked because of physical appearance. (My opinion, not factual)
    3. I like the black and white cinematics but not so erratic. Maybe just while on you or to highlight items or for a certain angle. It was a bit random.
    4. Dr Mills has a fresh/refreshing perspective different from other plant based academics. He is a giant in his own right and should be brought up more as a vegan rockstar.

      Mr Snarks I saw Dr Mills do a talk a cpl yrs ago. He talked about suffering an injury that seriously limited his mobility. He also mentioned depression and falling into the trap of medicating the emotions with vegan junk. He said it was hard to break free from that.
      That's where his weight gain came from, the double whammy.

    • @nonamejenkins3293
      @nonamejenkins3293 6 лет назад +3

      Mr Snarks So because he couldn't live healthily with depression he should not talk about the health benefits of a diet he knows a lot about? What kind of connection is that?

      E Rodriguez I tend to agree but at the same time maintaining the worlds livestock is and will continue to, without a doubt, infringe on peoples freedoms in terms of access to fresh water, fertile land and clean air. Just to point out that typical, dogmatic, and overly simplistic notions of 'freedom' ignore the true complexity inherent with such concepts. Such as negative vs positive freedom, etc.
      Certainly raising your own or at least highly localized production would be a viable solution, which I bet would turn quite a few folks towards plant based once they see and deal with the consequences of livestock in their own backyard. That could be a win win.
