    I am 66 and I used to have a whole host of medical problems . I have been eating a whole food plant based diet for over 8 years and within less than 2 1/2 years most of my health problems were gone.

      Paul Doe Thanks. Your story is encouraging. I've been 95% Vegetarian for the past five years, and not much meat for the 20 years prior. However, I come from a paternal family history of obesity and heart disease. I was raised in white bread, margarine, sugar sandwiches for a snack, and the cheapest fatty meats and foods that money could buy. I recently started a fat-free vegan only diet. It' was still a shock to my system. I lost six pounds of abdominal fat in seven days. It was a bit too fast, so I added back a small amount of olive oil before I started to gnaw on the chairs, and I feel less empty. Still losing weight though. Your story has inspired me to keep going.

      Paul, I have a similar story. I was raised eating some meat and switched to a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet when I was 17. By the time I was in my 30's I was allergic to nearly everything under the sun - inhalants, danders, pollens, fibers, foods, my own neuro-transmitters . . . . When I was in my mid-40's my husband and I switched to a totally plant-based diet. all of my allergies disappeared one by one. My husband had been told he was on the verge of diabetes, cancer and heart failure, but now we are both experiencing greater health and feeling better than ever before. A few years before making the change, I had a hysterectomy at age 34; and an expensive surgery on both feet. The foot surgery left me with more problems than it solved; but switching my diet eliminated even the problems with my feet. I firmly believe that I would not have needed either surgery had I changed my diet earlier.

      Once I ditched dairy, all of my joint inflammation and uper respiratory issues left. I have no sinusitis, bronchitis, or anything. Iwas still a heavy consumer of tomatoes. Once I stopped those, my inflammation issues left completely. I'm 56 years old, can do a full squat with no knee and hip pain whatsoever.

    I have survived Cancer (age 34) and now CHF (diagnosed in 2010 age age 52), I have gone vegan in January 2018, and I will be (G-d willing) 60 in October! I lived and survived 3 horrible diseases (oh yes, @ age 12 had hepatitus) to tell my STORY!!!! WOW, Crying out to the L-rd for healing, I give the glory and honor and thanks to him for sending me the wisdom in education, to heal. I thank all the doctors ( Drs. Esselstyn, Campbell, Furhman, Gregor, Ornish, Bernard, Mills, Goldhammer, Popper, and my personal doctor Panigrahi) I have studied as well, for my healing!

    Eat all the meat you want, but the statistics don't lie. Same with dairy, I gave both up nine years ago after a triple by pass. My arteries were so clogged I wasn't allowed to go home. The heart doctor told me if you don't change your diet you'll be back in 10 years, and that scared me enough to change my diet, and I'm 68 and still performing slight of hand magic gigs and feel good. Oh yah I almost forgot, I got off of my blood pressure meds., that was huge, my sex drive was back in 2 weeks.

      +Chi Walker. Hi. I gave up Meat and all Meat Products and my Cholesterol went down and my general health got better. I stopped getting any colds and flue. My plant base diet is great, I enjoy it. My family think I'm starving to death because I have lost a little weight. I feel good, I look good and I know my body is functioning at a high level. 💪💪👍👌
      My daughter inlaw gets angry with me because I eat vegetables. She is over weight with a skin desease.. SCIRASIS and POS. She is always on my case about vegetables being sprayed with pestersides, so she can't see why I eat them. And how we have the canine teeth to eat meat. But I just egnore her I don't rise to the bate. She's mad at me because I don't want to eat her food. I just stay cool and not talk about it.
      If there is an opportunity to bring a food dish to the party or event bring a tasty vegan dish. Don't tell them it's Vegan Dish. If they enjoy it and want to know what's in it then you tell them. That's what I do. 😂😃😅😆😄 People are surprised that Vegan or plant base food can taste so good.

      Geert W.....You need to go back and study....Plant based diets aren't sugar-based and don't include tons of sugar....Fools? Fools?.....Dr. Michael Greger gives exactly what is science based and what is good......PLANT BASED DIET IS BY FAR HEALTHIEST - NO COMPARISON........No sugar ladened carbs......Couch Potatoes vs. Endurance Athletes?...burning sugar is what high effort machines - endurance athletes- do. Many Endurance Athletes die young........MORON!...

    Your first stent or bypass is a rude, painful wake-up call. My 1st cardiologist never said to quit eating meat. He said the white meat of poultry was OK. Wrong! 7 years a vegan has me feeling so much better., even with a triple bypass.

    I've been transitioning to a plant based diet and haven't loss any muscle mass like meat advocates claim you will. In fact my workouts are more effective in every way and I feel better all around. Meat can be a treat, but only that, just like alcohol consumption, candy and the like.

      Please watch DOMINION. i went vegan for the animals because their lives are worth more than my taste buds. Treats should not be at the expense of an entire life of torture for sentient beings. Thanks for reading. Btw there are tons of great tasting vegan junk foods if you want treats :)

      Plants contains all essential amino acids that the body can synthesize. Animal proteins cant be fully utilized by the body, they just putrefy in our gut as a carcass.

    I read the China Study. It was very revealing. I have been vegan for over 3 years. I went through many stages. Not eating meat and dairy is just normal to me. I do not feel deprived of flavor and taste whatsoever. My health is very good at 59, I have no negative health issues. I did want to make the point though. How could I possibly judge anyone for their food consumption choices? I ate burgers for breakfast and massive amounts of meat and dairy just a few years ago.

      No one is judging you, I was a Vegan for many years and also a Rawist. At first you feel awesome but then your energy starts to drop and your brain will begin to become very deficient. It is not a sustainable diet and is extreme.
      If you do not care for meat and dairy that's fine, If it was me I would at least eat wild caught fish a few times week. Like Salmon which is the top ten healthiest foods on the planet. Also i would take a Cod liver oil supplement everyday and I would take a Vitamin D and Calcium supplement so that you do not become deficient. I think staying open minded is what counts the most.

      Holly Vanderhouck I for one do not judge others for their dietary choices. One pays their money and takes their chances. When I ate fish, cod, salmon and ahi tuna were my favorites. One of the most problematic things about fish consumption is the bio-accumulation of environmental pollutants in their tissues.
      I find that many people eating a vegan diet eat too many manufactured foods and don't really eat enough whole foods. It's a good idea for just about everyone living in the temperate zones to get adequate vitamin D. Those eating vegan definitely need to supplement with B12.
      How long were you a raw foodist? It can be tricky getting optimal nutrition on a strictly raw food diet.

      ...has applied to me off and on over the past 3 years of being vegan. I would go from eating healthy whole foods and fresh green juices to vegan fast food, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, etc. Originally I was 235 then dropped down to around 182, when I started getting up to almost 190, I went on a short 3 day juice fast, which ends today. It reboots my system and brain, then I start eating healthier foods again. But all in all eating vegan for me personally has helped me keep the weight off and be my healthiest. Oh and B12 I discovered is not an issue for me personally.

      That's wonderful I had similar benefits of weight-loss myself. I would not fool yourself
      about the B12 though, you have enough stores now but soon you won't and I would not wait until you run out completely.
      Like I said eating a rich B diet is the key and animals are the richest sources of those not vegetables. I wish vegans would at least consider Cod liver oil supplement it really does give your brain a boost and helps you on so many levels. I really wish that people would of gotten through to me but sadly I had to find out the hard way. Please do not wait until it is too late to do something about it.
      The China Study was a study on a minority of Chinese people. The majority eat fish and lots of vegetables and their diet is just as healthy as the ones living off rice and vegetables.
      Also those ones who can not afford meat do so because they are very poor and that is sadly all they have to eat.

    We have been vegetarian for a year (after I had a stroke) and our health is amazing! My children watched all the documentaries on the corrupt food industry and the benefits of being vegan, vegetarian, and the causes of cancer. ... And they actually educate the other children at their school. thank you for posting this. I love spreading awareness, and these videos are useful tools for me to do so.

    I believe in karma, we should not killing animal to get food. God give us many kind of plant for food. Plant doesnt feel hurt, plants doesnt feel sad,.. but animal does. Animal ( specially mammals ) are not for food.

I am prepared to accept that plants on some level may have a type of sentience.. but even so the amount of fear and pain which we are able to inflict on them is nothing compared to that which we can inflict on highly intelligent creatures such as pigs especially with brutal factory farming methods which we have now.

      Yuri Ivanovich Creatine is not an essential nutrient. It is manufactured in the human body. All essential amino acid and fats can be sourced from plant foods. That is where the animals you eat get them.
      You could have said B12, but neither animals nor plants create it. It is made by bacteria.
      Meat consumption's correlation to cancer risk has been reported in over a hundred epidemiological studies to date. That doesn't mean that you will get cancer from eating meat. You are just increasing your odds. It's a risk/reward trade off that everyone needs to make for themselves. That said, cancer is not the only risk factor from meat consumption. Meat consumption has been linked to all cause mortality not to mention dementia, diabetes, diverticulitis and many other decrepitudes including impotence and infertility.
      You say that you "don't care," but I see evidence that you do, otherwise why post at all. You must care about something even if it is nothing more than being right.
      I get it. You like eating meat, and your attitudes about its necessity coincide with your beliefs in your culture, history and human evolution. You don't like being told that something that you believe to be wholesome is otherwise just on the say so of some geeks in lab coats, but that is just the nature of beliefs. Sometimes they are out of step with our best understanding at any given point in time.

      Why, it's no wonder why so many people turn to this wondrous, uplifting and inspirational book for their morality and as their definitive source of information on subjects as diverse as biology, cosmology and geology.

I'm not quite sure why but that's what the bible says so who are we to turn from its holy and loving precepts.
      So be sure that while you're eating your meat, murdering your delinquent children and promulgating genocide, please don't kill your slaves while you're beating them, okay?
      And while you're at it, don't let your Karma run over your Dogma.

      Believing in your karma has good consequences in the sense it does not allow to slaughter animals at will and eat as much meat as you wish. There is no more respect for animals these days, one just need to visit slaughter houses and see their record of daily slaughter...It is true that the best for us humans is the vegetable world which is already so ich in flavors , tastes, mixes and the infinite cooking possibilites that Nature offers us..

    Is it natural to eat meat? What really is Natural? Regardless of what you consider "natural" the evidence of the china study is more than enough for me to understand the link between diet and health. On a vegan diet I have lost 40lbs of fat and now, at 35yrs old, am back to what I weighed in high school. My body has healed itself from multiple problems that developed over 29 years of a meat and cheese lifestyle. I have seen the tortured animals, I now know the real hidden cost of the industrial animal farming model to our planet and our health. I don't hate those who eat animal products, they are on their own path, and I once walked it as well. I just wish more of us could be open minded enough to experience the healthly explosion of life that can be had from making the humane choice in our eating. Good Luck, and healthy eating:)

      I couldn't agree with you more. There are people that instantly state their opinion without looking at the research. I for one lost a lot of weight eating healthy and I no longer have heart problems or high blood pressure. I never have the aches and pains and arthritis that I once had. People would rather complain, make ugly comments about vegans, and try NOT something healthy to see if it will work for them than to give up their so called comfort foods. People are so brainwashed by the government, who has a serious financial interest in this, that they take their word for what is good for them instead of BEING SMART and looking into the truth for themselves.

      danL1011 As a researcher, I am just going to have to agree to disagree with you here. In my personal opinion his opinion, and that of the China Study, and of many other research studies similar, his research is valid. And, getting healthy not based simply on lower sugar, refined carb consumption, and less vegetable oil, though all of those are very positive steps toward a healthy diet. There is nothing wrong with a little meat here and there in moderation, but at the rate this country eats meat, we are killing ourselves. Meat is unnecessary for he human body and people are seriously uneducated to its damaging effects.

      danL1011 Most people who care enough to stay away from animal proteins are already working to eat non-GMO foods.....another huge problem our country is battling. Why on earth do other countries BAN GMO's and the US allows it.........just like using their money to back the meat and dairy industries. All bad for our bodies. Too much protein IS bad for the body. I'd rather live feeling as great as I do now than the way I felt when I ate all this crud. I would rather have this amazing health than to have the health I had previously. Whether you find his research valid and conclusions flawed is for each person to debate. I agree that wheat is nothing like it use to be. There is no debate there.

    Whether you eat animals or not, you owe it to yourself to watch this in its entirety. After going 100% plant-based in Jan. 2012, within 6 months I lost 25 pounds, was able to discontinue 7 of 8 prescription medications and was no longer pre-diabetic. I have more energy than I have had in 10 years and my husband (cholesterol was high and medicated, well within normal in only 6 months) and I are now healthy happy seniors. By the way, if you also listen to Dr. Esselstyn, you will hear him say that Viagra is unnecessary for the vast majority of male vegans regardless of age. If your "flag doesn't fly" it is the canary in the coal mine, as Dr. Esselstyn would say, for cardiovascular disease.

      Am glad your feeling good, but I would be careful to go extreme vegan, I was one for many years and it will not last. In the end we all need something that is dense and sustainable for our bodies. It is the sources that matter.
      The healthiest people on the planet live in Japan and they eat fish, seafood, dairy (not as noticed for this but there are many who eat dairy) fruit and vegetables. It is very balanced and important food groups are never taken out.
      The Japanese people know that balance is key.

      Eating a healthy Whole-Foods Plant-Based diet is the healthiest thing you can do for your body, animals and a sustainable planet. Vegan diets can be quite different than WFPB if the vegan diet consists of things like potato chips, pop, and other highly processed "foods". A healthy vegan diet or Whole-Foods Plant-Based way of eating is quite different. We are in the habit culturally to eat meat and dairy even though it is killing us. WFPB is the optimum way of eating healthy that will and does last a lifetime. The largest non-profit health insurance company in USA, Kaiser Permanente, has recommended that their doctors begin educating themselves about Plant-Based Nutrition and advise their patients to eat a WFPB diet for optimum health results. The medical facts are speaking loud and clear.

      Not true. I was eating all veggies, chicken, fish and milk/cheese. Extremely small amounts of any processed foods. We THOUGHT we were eating healthy.

    I am so glad I became vegan so early. I became vegan when I was 12. My family didn't really mind (except when I explained WHY I was vegan). Soon, my mum decided to go vegan. She wasn't doing it for the animals, though, she was doing it to loose wait (And it worked). My older brother is vegan, too.

    Since some uneducated critic has asked "Because its [sic] text book [sic] we should believe it?" which provides an excellent opportunity to reply: "YES!" Textbooks are one of the most precious resources our culture has, in general, to make progress in the field about which the textbook addresses. Nutrition textbooks, in particular, deal with a field about which there is really no controversy, since absorption of nutrients, food quality and such factors are readily examined in scientific ways, leading to pretty complete understanding of all the factors important to getting the nutrients we need.

How about changing your diet and sicknesses gone and feeling great, believe what you want but i think any doctor who says anything other than selling you the meat and dairy crap talk gets ridiculed, why is that? Maybe we have been told the same thing for years now so we believe it, who said its right? A plant based diet is what i believe to be correct in my opinion and i follow doctors like this as they arent looking for lifetime consumers or sell you anything, simply eat a simple whole food diet. There are many others and one of my favourites is dr furhman.

    cant lie ever since I've started reading the china study I get paranoid every time I eat some meat. My conditioning from a young age to eating meat is too strong its hard to shake. Though I've completely cut out drinking cows milk so I guess that's a start

      Habits are difficult to break but not impossible. Seat belts save lives but not many chose to use them because it was "inconvenient" until the laws made them mandatory. Every step in the direction of not eating meat and dairy is a help. Just keep moving in that direction. Some people change immediately and other gradually make the changes needed to live a longer and healthier life.

      +rowd runar Don't worry too much about it. Just read a few critiques of the China Study and you will see it is bloated with bias. Folks claim the vegan diet is best but where are all of the vegan centenarians? Even the Adventist studies quoted by vegans fail to inform that Adventists are actually lacto ovo (They eat dairy and eggs so not even close to vegan) vegetarians and sometimes include poultry and fish, but they also don't smoke, eat oreos and McDonalds.

      There are no valid critiques of the China Study. It is THE most comprehensive study of human nutrition ever done. There are over 700 peer reviewed medical studies (non-biased) referred to in the book and fully noted. They have all come to the same conclusions...the best way of eating is whole-foods plant-based...no meat, fish, eggs or dairy. Also no highly processed foods or oil if you truly want to be healthy. Those that dispute this well researched information have their own personal motives: habit, money making for those promoting fad diets, cultural biases, poorly educated, etc.

    Since textbooks were mentioned, I'll provide a current one on nutrition, my September, 2012, "Present Knowledge in Nutrition," by Erdman et al. It is considered trustworthy and authoritative by every university in the world, & it informs us that dairy is perfectly safe & highly effective at providing nutrients for us, especially calcium. Milk does not cause any kind of cancer, and the good Dr. Campbell is only embarrassing himself by claiming that it does.

    I discovered veganism half a year ago and after a lot of research including this specific video, I decided to tell my parents I don t want to eat meat anymore. As expected, it was a disaster. I am almost 18 so in a year and a half I am moving out and I can do it then. I wish I could become vegan sooner since my blood tests were awful (a lot of defficiencies and high blood sugar levels).

    I am 49 almost 50, I eat meat, fish and dairy every day and I am fine, very fit and healthy, gym 3 to 5 times a week, but what I do avoid is sugar, ready made meals, wheat, fluoride water and toothpaste.
    I also take precautions like wearing a glove at a petrol station.

    Great info here! Love Dr. Campbell's work. Being at funerals and visiting too many hospital beds of friends and family had me taking a second look at what I could do to prevent premature death, and suffering. Feeling great powered by plants.     I'm a christian so this is what I think, when God created Adam and Eve he told them to eat plants, fruits etc, but after they have sinned he told them to eat animals. From this point I believe that it is unnatural to eat animals and kill them, that's not what God wanted for us when he created the earth.

    It’s not the meat or dairy clogging up arteries. It’s the combination of meat or protein with sugar, or sugar from carbohydrates. Sugar and protein consumption causes inflammation and Glycation of proteins, stickiness inside our arteries and cells. A vegan diet is okay if high carb, a keto diet is okay if high fat moderate protein and low carb. Both diets will avoid glycation of proteins.
    Fat & sugar is a bad combination
    Protein & fat is okay with veggies
    & high carb low protein is okay

    I wish this had been widely known forty years ago. In a way I was lucky being born 70 years ago the diet was low in meat but from about the sixties on the diet changed and became a lot richer in meat and dairy. Now I have been a vegan for over 3 years.

    I've not had even a spoonful of meat, dairy or fish in 5 months (50 lbs. and 10" from my belly) and am amazed how much better I feel. I don't believe enough is said about the growth hormones, antibiotics and pesticides that are missing from my diet and so prevalent in the S.A.D. eating populace. I'm sure as I continue to walk this path I'll hear more and more.

    @lucasvandam I, like you have looked at this as well. My grandfather was a hunter and year round fisherman in the 1930-1968 years. Zero processed food. He ate eggs, chicken, deer, rabbit, buffalo, steak, pheasant and more. His chickens laid double-yoke eggs and they were big. Poor guy ended up with diabetes and gangerine. He died soon after at 67. I miss him.

    I find the opposite on a vegan diet I’m sick as a dog. I feel better on organic meat, eggs and organic vegetables. Keeping away from dairy and processed food. Plus keeping it low carbohydrate no gluten or seeds. All the lectins & anti-nutrients in vegan food is so unhealthy.

    As an Asian I can answer that. Traditionally Asians ate very little meat. I remember as a kid in the 70's we ate a small serving of meat about once a month. It was a luxury item. We didn't have all the diseases back then. As many of the urban Asians started mimicking western style, heavy meat diet, they started getting the same diseases as the west. And they ate naturally raised meats. That's one of the reasons why I don't eat any animal products, I've seen the effects of animal based diet.

    There are several nutritionists (one is Joel Marion) that will tell you:
    1. Increased sugar=increased insulin
    2. Insulin stores excess calories
    3. Fat has more calories than carbs and take up less space.
    4. Therefore you do not get as full because your stomach's stretch receptors are not being activated and eat more.
    5. Those excess calories are now stored by insulin.
    Whereas if you only ate carbs/protein, you would have fewer calories eaten/stored.
    Makes sense to me.

    The problem with the epidemiology is that there are a other potent factors that parallel the animal protein consumption and are difficult to tease out. On the other hand, the animal studies leave no doubt, especially when the protein intake by the rodents is manipulated sequentially and has the anticipated effects. That's not an attempt at scrubbing data to confirm an association; that is a clear demonstration of causation. There is no doubt about it, as long as there are no other consistent micronutrient changes paralleling the protein change. That goes to bioavailability and tissue distribution of micronutrients etc. and will be quite complicated. But so what? We can either just ignore those variables and call them components of the mechanism by which the animal protein had the carcinogenic effect, or treat them as vicarious effects and look at them separately.
    The big question is how are these protein effects messaged: are we looking at gene expression by a direct effect of casein etc.; or is it modifying other controllers like vitamin D, or magnesium containing repair enzymes etc. etc.; or are we just causing chromosome breaks like you see with folate deficiency. The latter could be tested by nucleic acid staining of mature red blood cell samples, for example.
    Or maybe we just wait until the human genome can be quickly assessed on a finger prick of blood and then see what daily steaks from feedlot cattle do to it. The technology is round the corner!

And we have speeches of this sort to tell you what to eat in today's world...So many chemicals surround us that we have to dig harder to find what is left of what is considered as "good food"..     It might be similar to a study regarding breast cancer in nurses in regard to milk consumption. They originally thought that the animal fat was the problem but the study showed no correlation. They later discovered that it's the animal protein that is the problem, people who decreased their animal fat consumption by drinking low fat milk actually increased their animal protein intake. When taking this into account they found the correlation.

    I'm a meat eater and I don't understand why some people are so pissed off by this. The anti vegetarian comments are uncalled for. No one is forcing anyone to quit meat. I appreciate these studies. At least now I am more aware of the risks and can make more informed decisions. Also, just because a family member lived a long life after eating lots of meat doesn't mean anything. I know people who smoked all their lives and lived a good long life. Doesn't mean smoking isn't bad for you.

    Have you ever heard of the Alkaline diet? I speak for my own experience and my sister's, and for the all people that tried it . There is a perfect diet, and you dont eat any animal food, it consists in more stuff, most peole just dont known cause the industry doesnt want to. I feel really bad for those peole, and when someone knows and tells them, they just dont accept it. We are all beign manipulated. Im just not gonna entry at any detail, if you are worry, if you care for yourself, for your future son's, for the planet and for your qualady of life, you will search.

    I think it leaves me with more question and doubt about "the people who ate dairy and meat":
    1. did they eat deepfried hotwings that were frozen or fresh organic Salmon?
    2. did they consume bacon or lean fat ground beef?
    3. how did they prepare their food? grilled, fried, cooked...?
    4. did they workout?
    5. They actually proved that diets with about 5% protein can slow down/stop tumor growth. But these has nothing to do whether the protein is coming from plants or animal sources.. :/

    Someone has asked about current textbooks being wrong, which demonstrates how little they understand about current textbooks, having never, evidently darkened the doorsteps of a college and learned from real textbooks. Current textbooks are the most trustworthy sources of information we have, in general, with few exceptions having to do with religious, political or similar topics. Dairy safety does not fall into those kinds of categories, being relatively free of controversy, except, of course, that militant vegans want to eliminate the use of animals. Then we get lame comments like this video and those who "buy" such tripe.

    The once-respected Dr. Campbell has done what so many older professors have done, that Darwin wrote that he swore to himself that he would never publish after reaching 60 years of age, since he saw so many professors make utter fools of themselves by publishing some silly tripe about which they developed an overly fond attachment, completely outside of any scientific proof. He should give it a rest. What he says here, for instance, is way out of line, and completely at odds with what all current textbooks on nutrition have to say.

    This is all BS.
    We're Alien to all species. Since he says we're similar to Monkeys, I can prove that 1000% false. Monkeys metabolize veggies/fruits very well - Humans don't. We metabolize meat protein very well, i.e., Milk, Cheese, Eggs, etc. - those are healthy nutrient dense foods for all Humans in moderate consumption. Veggies/Fruits should be taken together with every protein meal *only* to aid in (fiber) enzyme digestion which allow us to stay *mostly* disease free. This guy is deceiving all the naive (and perhaps sadly naive himself) with main intention selling all his numerous books. (nothing wrong with that in itself, but you need to educate yourself before believing in this strict Vegan propaganda.)

No one needs to give up food! Just eat the right kinds of foods for their health, for the environment, for animals and other people. It is time we all took a look in the mirror and ask: Is it okay for me to live a destructive lifestyle just because my taste buds say so? The answer is no! Besides, your taste buds will adjust to whatever you eat.
      I love the food I eat more than I ever loved any food, and I never have to restrict my calories to not gain weight. Nowadays I actually realize that what I eat is real food and animal products are just flesh and secretions that are by no means human foods at all! If you see a baby cow, do you instinctively think: what a delicious looking easy prey? Or do you think: what a cutie! And which do you think a real carnivore thinks?

    In grade school, I was the smallest kid by weight, yet also the strongest and fastest; living on my Cherokee, traditional foods of Hominy (corn), Beans & Squash.
    In 1975, I was talked into switching to the Paleo Diet, "to get bigger & stronger"; ten months ago, at age 50, I almost died from Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Type II Diabetes, Gout and Prostate Issues.
    I switched to VEGAN (no salt, no oil), lost 130 lbs and have completely reversed or cured ALL of the above Diseases and Issues.

    No. The point I was making was that you can't blame meat if those same people are also eating sugar and processed garbage. You would need studies of people eating ONLY meat to conclude that meat is harmful. And meat ONLY, not dairy. Meat and dairy (milk products) are two different things. If you are open-minded, I suggest you wander over to any of the low or zero carb websites and read what the people there have to say. They are not dying of cancer--rather they are enjoying good health.

    I skimmed thru the first half of this. I notice he did not make any distinction between meat/dairy from Big Agra compared to meat/dairy from farm-raised, pastured, grass-fed animals not fed GMO grain, and not shot up with steroids, growth hormones and anti-biotics....big big big difference, and if someone giving a speech does NOT make that distinction, then I question the entire presentation, and wonder WHY they are not making this very important distinction. It would be kind of like saying water is bad for you but not making the distinction between municipal tap water and water from a clean well. Or saying air is bad for you, but not making the distinction between breathing the air in NYC or breathing the air in Montana. There is a big difference, is there not?

      Dave Garry can you please link studies that distinguish the difference between the two meats? The research and studies into IGF-1 may contradict your statement. I would like to know more.
      The cows in my town are grass feed but are all fattened up on grain before slaughter?

    As heart-disease rates were skyrocketing in the mid-1900s, consumption of animal fat was going down, not up. Consumption of vegetable oils, however, was going up dramatically.
    Half of all heart-attack victims have normal or low cholesterol. Autopsies performed on heart-attack victims routinely reveal plaque-filled arteries in people whose cholesterol was low (as low as 115 in one case).

    Colin Campbell was incredibly brave for coming out against meat and dairy. We have to remember that back in his day, milk was called Nature's perfect food, butter was considered a food group, and animal protein was called the stuff of civilization itself. Campbell lost his prestigious position at Cornell to people with ties to the dairy industry if I'm not mistaken. I admire this man's incredible conviction and courage.

    What Dr Campell describes about hwo things work "behind the scene" having big corporations and politicians involved in decision making is exactly what happens with Monsanto and the GMO today ...So no real scientific decision can never reach the public.....We stay sick for the sake of the big corporations, in short for money..What Dr Campbell says here is HUGELY IMPORTANT...

    What kind of boggles my mind (and I've said this repeatedly) is that there are thousands of people eating only meat, or meat and limited carbs such as non-starch vegetables, and are thriving. Their health, strength and stamina is steadily improving and their blood lipid panels are excellent. There are entire support message boards devoted to them. You can visit them if you are open-minded. Anyone who does not continually question his thinking is not interested in the truth.

    I wish more people were cognizant and did their research on how meat and dairy are killing us. It's so awful. I am so happy that God allowed me to access this information and be knowledgeable about what to eat. I want to live to 200.

    I'd also like to add that in some of Campbells experiments (author of the china study) a significant reduction in tumorogenisis was observed when subjects were given 30% casein. It was suggested in the paper that the higher protein metabolism had a suppressive effect on the tumors. Further, the source of casein was from the equivalent of store bought baby formula. None of the ingredients in this formula were listed. We have no idea whether there was an ingredient in this formula causing cancer.

    What Im saying is that the issues seen with the large amounts of meat we consume today would be redirected to plants & cause much greater issues because plants play a larger part in our world than most people know. There's such a push for being Vegan & the benefits associated but no one wants to discuss the long-term effects stated above.

    Truth is very individual. All my problems began when I jumped in to Macrobiotics. I idolized and believed the founder was pure. I went to his office in Brookline, MA where he was selling clean cigarette tobacco in bulk. The founder and his wife smoked. I was shocked. For them, a healthy organically grown tobacco is good to smoke. I was smoking Cigars at the time. No chemical constituents in my cigars. But, I had 3 friends that ended up with cancer of the larynx and lived with voice boxes. Truth!

    lentils . tofu, legumes, nuts ,veg .dry beans , rice , herbs , bread ,coconut oil . no meat diet , fish in moderation , tofu has a treble amount of protein than a steak , eat organic .

    He basically said that excessive amounts of meat and dairy can give your cancer. If you eat meat and use dairy products every now and then it's propably ok, but u dont necessarily have to do it every day. Vegetables and vegetable protein are less of a burden for your body.

    Weight bearing activity - Jumping, running and lifting weights are so much more important to bone health than simply consuming dairy products. Adequate calcium is important, but you can consume all the calcium you want if you don't have sufficient activity your bones will get weaker.

    Been studying this for 45 years. Same old testimonialism. 'I lost bla bla pounds, so obviously this diet works.' 'I didn't get cancer like my mother, so obviously this diet works.' 'My blood pressure went down, so obviously this diet works.' Properly digested animal protein is a soup of amino acids, fats, minerals, infinitesimal other crap. What's the cancer rate of meat eating non-human animals?

    Despite everything you’ve heard about saturated fat being linked to cancer, that link is statistically weak. However, there is a strong link between sugar and cancer. In Europe, doctors tell patients, “Sugar feeds cancer.”

    See my response on Graham. Your meat diet looked great. Of course, back then I would have thought it was awful, too. There was no internet back then, so information was limited. I thought Macro was surely the answer. Like you I read all the books. Now there's no excuse for ignorance. Like you, I am a truth seeker. No matter how sure I am of myself, I am always questioning my thesis and paradigm--over and over--to make absolutely sure I'm not missing anything and I am always learning.

    Speaking from my own experience as a life long milk drinker, I'm now coming around to the idea it's at the root of the problem, we've been sold on the idea that milk is good for you, certainly it's nutritious in the lab but in the real world it has too many unhealthy consequences, like leading to lining of the arteries.
    Cutting all animal fat has made a dramatic change to how I feel and my health. Basically, it's awesome. Forget the milk, or yoghurt.

    Plant based foods have complete protein but... Scientific fact is that vegan athletes need to consume more protein than meat eating athletes (who usually get way too much protein in the first place) to stay on the same nitrogen balance, even though all plant foods have complete amino acid profile (though different ratios and quantities of the essential amino acids). This has to do with the digestibility score and biological value of most plant proteins being inferior to that of animal proteins. For example here is a fictional situation that clarifies this a little:
    We replace all animal protein with plant protein in an athletes diet, which just barely fully covers his/her protein need as well as his/her caloric needs, to support getting stronger athletic performance. Now that we get the same amount of protein from plant sources and keep the calories the same what happens is, that as much of the plant protein basically isn't being broken down and utilized as amino acids in the body, which means the athlete has to eat a bit more protein if he/she wishes to stay on a positive nitrogen balance and continue getting stronger at the sport.
    Some vegan diets can also lack in certain amino acids or be overall low in essential amino acids though this is not all that common in people who eat all the plant based food groups (beans/legumes/lentils, vegetables, nuts/seeds, whole grains, fruits). The inferior digestibility of most plant proteins compared to animal proteins has to do with the fibres, that is attached to some of the proteins in plants, and fibres are not broken down in the small intestine where protein breakdown and absorption of amino acids takes place. Instead these proteins end up in the large intestine where our gut microbes ferment the fibres and release all the wonderful chemicals to our blood stream but the proteins cannot be absorbed anymore so they end up fermented as well.
