Carnivore Crisps - All 10 Flavors Reviewed

  • I've had a number of viewers recently ask me to review Carnivore Crisps, a "chip" made out of meat. In this video, Connor and I taste test every flavor and we found they really ran the full spectrum, from love to hate. Watch the video to find out what we can recommend and what we'd avoid. You may want to turn down the volume, as the mics really picked up on how crispy these chips are.
The products in this review were provided for free on the condition that the manufacturer agrees that I will do a fair and honest review.

For what it's worth, my neighbor's dog loved the organ meat flavors, the lamb, and the chicken skin, so they didn't go to waste.

I was actually really surprised how much they didn't like the crisps, they must have totally different tastes than me, because I've tried all those types of crisps and found them all quite flavorful, and I love the brisket, lamb, and ribeye most. And the organ meats are totally fine to me. That being said, I can't buy them often since they're quite expensive. This is my HONEST review as just some guy.

As I grew up on a farm, we waisted nothing... organ meat, literally head to tail... we soaked all organ meat in buttermilk or raw milk... it takes the iron, bloody taste out... I still use these and my family love it... even if they don't know what the meat is 😆😆😆... the only thing not as good is the liver.
I was involved in a carnivore bar... well cardboard, sawdust and paste comes to mind 😕🤯🥴😄...

I've been watching and reading up on how to make pemmican. These "crisps" seem like the end stage of the sliced beef, before you grind it up; completely dehydrated and crispy. Because they meat will remain edible for months at that point, this might be a good experiment to make a big batch. Some non-perishable spices might mitigate the blandness of just meat.

I don't eat the carnivore crisps, but I do eat the carnivore aurelius brand liver crisps... (found it first and it's less expensive).
Each bag is 2 servings. It took me a week to get down the first bag... BUT NOW I have to restrain myself from eating the entire bag.
It definitely takes time for your pallet to adjust, but it will and I can guarantee you'll like the liver.
Eating liver daily is totally worth it. And can I just say, I didn't realize how much I missed crunch till I got my hands on liver crisps. I LOVE the crunch!!

It makes sense they include organ meats because a true carnivore needs to include them in their diet. Carnivores will also have adapted their taste to those things that didn't pass your taste testing. Not surprising results since I know you aren't carnivore (neither am I).

I bought a bunch of these before Christmas. If you bought so many you got free shipping. It was a lot of money but the shipping was high so I felt like I was getting a good deal lol! The first 3 bags I opened, and I didn't buy any organ or heart as I knew I wouldn't like those, were like trying to eat an old shoe. No lie. They were impossible to eat and they weren't crispy. I put them away and forgot about them but left on a trip recently and decided to throw some in and lo and behold, they were all crispy. How I was able to choose the bad bags first is beyond me. I liked the crispy ones but won't be buying anymore. I've read other reviews on how their product is inconsistent and there is no recourse if what you get isn't any good. I didn't like the carnivore snax either. Both products very expensive. Give me some cheap pork rinds any day.

The leg of lamb I got looked completely different. Mine was almost straight black in color, and was the cruchiest out of all the ones I had (even over the pork loin) I enjoyed it though. My favorite was the ribeye. I was so looking forward to the brisket, but they forgot to put it in the box so now I'm waiting on the brisket to arrive which should be here tomorrow, with quite a few of others I ordered again too. I really like these carnivore crisps, but like you said here in the comments, the price will definitely drive some people away for sure. I'm not even gonna try the organ meat. Thank you for this review. I have been skeptical to try them because when I extrapolated out the pricing, they come to like $84/pound. They come highly recommended by Neisha Berry, so I have been curious. I appreciate the candor of you and your family when taste-testing. You are all so REAL! There is no placticity to your presentations ever, and that is a big win in my book. You are rising rapidly in my ongoing, and ever changing list of "Top Ten People I'd like to have coffee with." (You and Dennis together would be even better!! That would be an amazing conversation... assuming I could keep up.) Here's a huge question: Do you think these could be replicated at home in a dehydrator? Or an Air-fryer? I feel like if some of those flavors were seasoned, they might be more palatable.

It’s an experiment I may try at some point in my dehydrator.

I often say Keto has been the easiest way of eating I’ve ever done because I can find so many equivalents for non-keto foods. I’d second pork rinds like many have said, but besides that, I often peel the skin off my rotisserie chickens and crisp em up under the broiler with some salt. Man oh man are they awesome. I also do the same with salmon skins. Occasionally, I do a sheet pan of spinach or kale ripped into small pieces sprayed with oil and salt. All of the above hit the chips & popcorn craving for me.

    • @SeriousKeto

I'll definitely try that the next time I have a rotisserie chicken.

I'd not heard of Carnivore chips before. Great real live review - love the honesty. A product that I go for as a chip is the Wilde brand - basically a lot of flavors made of chicken breast. When I want something sweet, they have a Chicken and Waffles flavor (better than I had expected). But in general, I go for the hot ones - Buffalo, Nashville Hot and Jalapeno are 3 I enjoy.

I got a few bags of these recently after watching a random video. I’m on WW (my keto version, which is clean foods, protein and seasonal veggies and fruit) As with you Rib eye the best, liver 🤮also spit out and gave to a neighbors dog, chicken skin hated the grease factor, also went to dog, and chicken breast I liked to dip! I will order again but add pork loin! Thanks for keeping it real! (And Connor I agree most “normal” tastes today don’t include organ meats.)

I have seen Laura Spath eat these for months and it makes sense because she travels so much and the crisps are portable. That being said, these are not for me. I wasn't aware of the organ meat options, but those are a hard-NO in my world also. Thanks for taking one for the team. susie in the tundra

They're ok for an on the go needed snack, but too expensive even if they were great. Some are ok as chips for nacho cheese or another dip and you can crumble in eggs or frittatas...

Thanks for the video on these Steve. However at that price it’s a no for me. I’m anxiously waiting on a Keto creative recipe person to figure it out and make these. A food dehydrator is on my list of new things I want to try. I’m thinking these may just be thinly cut, over cooked jerky?

Tasted like oven roasted chicken very good

My boyfriend makes venison jerky that's like eating a meat pringle! He uses a meat slicer and slices a softball sized venison roast paper thin (roughly 1lb). He mixes 3/4 cp of soy sauce, 1/4 cp of liquid smoke, 1/8 tsp garlic powder and red pepper flakes to taste (usually just a shake or 2 of the bottle). Add all the slices of venison with the sauce in a ziploc bag and shake the bag to mix. Put bag in the fridge for 30 mins, but shake it after 15 mins to make sure everything is covered (longer is better, but atleast 30 mins). Drain excess liquid and put the slices in the dehydrator on 160 degrees for about 8 hours. We do it overnight. When the slices are crispy, they're done! So addicting and NO SUGAR at all!
