Hey, Chris from Keto Chow here. First off I want to make sure that everyone knows that the first time we got to see this video was when it went public today - there was no editorial control or anything like that. We always hope that that's unnecessary and people will like it as much as we do.
Now to my comments on the video =)
Honestly, I like that Steve mixed some up and drank it immediately. It gives people a good point of reference to what it will taste like and such if they want to skip waiting. The salt and other minerals take at least 30 minutes to dissolve and until then the crystals will be VERY present and make it taste saltier than it is.
Melted butter + warm water + blender = success =) Also, as noted by others, if you have one made with butter that has butter chunks (and you don't like that) microwave it and enjoy it warm!
The Peaches & Cream has been one of our most divisive flavors! Many people like it, others think it smells like perfume AND THAT'S OK! We all have different tastes.
Keto Chow makes good soft-serve ice cream, the water content makes it turn pretty solid if you try to harden it in the freezer, best to eat it right away.
Girl Scout 'Thin Mint' was EXACTLY the flavor we were going for with the Chocolate Mint. The color is what you get when you add real cocoa powder to the green =)
Regarding being really full when drinking them: sounds like you would prefer to use less heavy cream/butter/fat - one of the features of Keto Chow is that YOU can customize the type of fat and the AMOUNT of fat that suits your needs.

The fact that you are personally here commenting on your product speaks volumes to me.
I'm not familiar with Keto Chow at all but Steve's review has me interested.
Instead of meal replacement, are any of your products designed yet as a keto friendly protein shakes for a post workout routine? I lift weights three days a week and do HIIT two other days and beef broth is getting old as a post workout protein drink.

    • @ChrisBairKeto
      @ChrisBairKeto 3 года назад +18

@@bluecollarwineguy4447 I know that Redmond has a Pre-workout but I don't know of any keto products that are specifically designed for post workout. I'm sure the protein in Keto Chow would work but I'm not sure if it would be specifically effective for post. The sweet flavors have whey and casein in the milk protein isolate and 3 of the savory flavors use beef bone broth protein along with beef protein. That brings up another non-Keto Chow Product: Equip makes beef protein powder that comes in Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry, it's not a meal like Keto Chow but it is a great way to get additional protein in.

For everyone who is telling me: "YOU GOTTA MELT THE BUTTER!!!", "You need to use a blender!", and "These are best overnight in the fridge", understand that in that first segment, we were trying these for the first time and for the most part following the instructions on the back of the pouch. We did melt the butter (just didn't use hot enough water).
After those first 3 shakes, we had all of the above figured out.

I am a Keto Chow fanatic and a monthly subscriber. I always do mine with either 2 TBSP butter and 1 TBSP Coconut oil, or 2 TBSP butter and 2 TBSP non-dairy heavy cream. Some flavors I throw in a TBSP of PB Fit, or a sprinkle of cinnamon, etc. I leave them at least 1-2 days in the fridge before drinking and the flavor REALLY comes out. I never, ever use the full amount of whipping cream or butter as on the card, it makes it taste completely different in my opinion and not near as good.

Melted butter, warm water, immersion blender and let it sit overnight. Perfect! Always overnight for best flavor and no grittiness, unless you want to drink it hot (think hot cocoa).
Butter gives a more pronounced flavor, less carbs and is cheaper than cream. Snickerdoodle with butter gives it more of a cookie flavor.
Heavy cream is best with fruity flavors, makes it tastes more like a melted milkshake and makes delicious ice cream!
Little hack: add peanut butter powder or peppermint extract to chocolate instead of buying the specific flavors.
Add a tsp of beef gelatin as you're making a shake with butter to get a pudding like consistency.
Use coffee instead of water! Pumpkin caramel and toffee are amazing with it!

I guess I may be a lone dissenter (after all the comments I’ve read) but I just find it to be too expensive and have to respectively disagree that the price is comparable to eating a meal out. A Meal out to me means someone else prepares the meal and serves it etc.; me doing all the prep and serving just isn’t comparable. As always though, I’m happy to hear you give your true honest opinion and thoughts on products without following the crowd. For that reason I have a lot of respect for your integrity.

I've been buying Keto Chow for years and I absolutely love it. I even have a couple of bags of their savory flavors. A Keto Chow shake for lunch every day really helped me keep my hunger (and calories) under control when I was starting out with keto. Whenever I start going back to the office again I'll definitely be doing Keto Chow for lunch because it's so convenient.
FYI: I only ever use butter with the savory flavors because I heat those. For the sweet flavors I always use heavy cream and water, and always let the shake sit in the fridge for at least 3 hours.

I have used KetoChow with both cream and butter. I prefer butter if I am drinking the chow but you need to change how you make it slightly. I melt the butter in a mixer cup and then add the powder and use water hot from the tap. I then blend with a stick blender and refrigerate at least 6 hours. The flavors blend much better using this method (at least to me). A lot of times I make the chow with heavy cream and almond milk and then put it in my ice cream maker. A lot of times I will also enhance the flavor with a few drops of some artificial sweetener and sometimes add some extras like Lilly's chocolate chips, unsweetened coconut, nuts, or maybe some flavor drops from One on One Flavors.

So glad you tried this! I’m a new convert! I love drinking my first meal! My husband has one or two a day (and I bought this for me)! I use 2 Tbsp butter (melted 😄) and 1 Tbsp heavy whipping cream blended with an immersion stick. Yes, the taste gets better the longer it sits in the fridge (up to a few days). Vanilla is bland. My favorites are regular strawberry, chocolate toffee, salted caramel, chocolate peanut butter, snickerdoodle and Carmel macchiato. Haven’t got to try many of the others. For those worried about sucralose it’s explained on their site. It’s pure sucralose, not Splenda which uses sucralose and other bulking materials like maltodextrin which we all know to stay away from. As you said, the amount used is so minuscule it really is not going to have much of an affect. It’s the cleanest ingredients that tastes amazing that I have been able to find. And yes, you can make it into ice cream, pudding, pancakes, etc. Keto on!!🤗

I've found that the way I enjoy them the most is to mix a packet in a blender with water (about 2/3rds of a shaker bottle). Then I put it back in the shaker bottle and put it in the fridge overnight (this really brings out the flavor, makes it smoother, and lets the bubbles dissipate). Then I add heavy whipping cream until the shaker cup is almost full, shake it up, and serve.

Thanks for trying the Keto Chow- I have been using it for a couple of months and I have to say they are spot on with the flavors. I don't do the vanilla alone, but have mixed it with other flavors to use up that bag. For flavors you don't like as much, making the scones recipe (under Raspberry Cheesecake) or pancakes or chaffles, you might like it that way. 2Krazyketos has lots of recipes and they did a pancake one everyone seems to love. With the butter you have to melt it first, and I mix the warm water with my sick blender before adding cold water, and let it sit overnight. No chunks that way. The shakes probably tasted more salty for Connor because he is not on keto. I loved how your wife's face lit up with the flavors she tried. The beef base makes a great cheeseburger soup and the drop biscuits using the savory chicken oh my. This is one of my favorite videos because I could hear the surprise and sometimes also joy in your voice. I have been on liquid/soft foods/no chewing for 2 weeks following oral surgery - this stuff has kept me from going off the deep end!

Great video Steve. We have been using keto chow for some time now. For your viewers who don’t own an ice cream maker, may I refer them to 2 Krazi Ketos video using a “good” blender to make soft serve ice cream with keto chow. No freezer needed. We do this often with a Vitamix. It is a real treat! My oil of choice is avocado oil. I will also add a scoop of flavored collagen sometimes. Thanks for your great work!

You won't regret it. What's so good about it is how you can really tweak it to your personal likes. Not sweet enough? add some skinny syrup or sweetener to taste. Not enough spice? Add more cinnamon or pumpkin spice, etc. Want a stronger flavor? Add extract! Is it too thick or thin? Add more or less water. Switch up the liquid to compliment the chow flavor. Same with the fat sources. butter goes better with some flavors and heavy whipping cream for others. It definitely tastes better if it sits for several hours (or overnight) and depending on the fat source, it can be in the fridge for about 6 days and still be good. when using butter, always melt it and use a blender of some sort to get it all mixed in -- slightly warm water, as well, with the butter. It makes a huge difference. I've been drinking them for a few years and I don't think there's a flavor I don't like.

I’ve been drinking Keto Chow shakes for over a year. Mostly made with butter. I don’t think drinking butter is weird because butter is just cream with the carbs removed. I see in your comments you figured out some tips. One of the cool things about Keto Chow is you can tweak them by adding things like more spice and experimenting with alternate fats. It also makes a great ingredient just use like any protein powder. Their website has a good Chaffle recipe - you can use any flavor. The savory varieties make better chaffles than soup.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed watching it.

I’m so glad you did a review on KetoChow. I was hesitant to try it (cost & sucralose) and now I’m hooked! After doing my research w/my health coach and watching their videos I secs to give it a try. I even feel it is safe enough to give to my kids (I need to keep KetoChow pudding stocked in the fridge at all times!)
BONUS- they have an amazing community, along w/2KrazyKetos, that helps me stay on track both physically and emotionally. Chris & Miriam are always transparent and approachable about their product so you can ask them anything.
I can’t wait ‘til you start coming up with recipes for all the fun flavors. 🤗

I have been hesitant to order from these guys before as I have been making a serious attempt at removing processed food from the diet. On the other hand after a year and a half of doing this I miss good favored treat kind of food so hopefully this will scratch that itch for me because the Costco Keto type treats are not doing it. I have been using Keto Chow, off and on, for a while and definitely have likes and dislikes on the flavors. (as I'm sure everyone has) As far as mixing I feel it definitely needs to initally be mixed using more than the blender bottle (ie blender, bullet blender or immersion blender which I use) otherwise it comes out "chunky". I also prefer a couple TBSP of butter (melted) and a little heavy cream mixed with the water and BLEND WELL and do leave in the fridge several hours or overnight for best results. I feel Keto CHOW has it's place if you're on a keto journey but I, personally, would not use it strictly alone as a meal replacement. Once a day maybe and/or as a "treat". (I am anxious to try CHOW ice cream and other recipes!) I agree with Steve, about half a shake is more than enough for me. I was subscribed to the Chow Club Boxes for a time. However, considering that I also feel cost is an issue I cancelled the subscription because I was getting too much product "backed up" AND I didn't like that I would often get flavors I didn't care for so I felt that was a "waste". For me the large bags are WAY TOO MUCH to have of ONE FLAVOR (in my opinion) unless I found a flavor I REALLY LIKE! For example I am a PEACH FREAK, I love, love, love, peach BUT did not care for the Peaches and Cream Keto Chow. It tasted way to "artificially" for my taste. Bottom line I like having it around for an option on my Keto journey.

I found using melted unsalted butter is a lot less carbs than heavy cream, tastier than using oil and I use hot tap water, blender and refrigerate overnight for best results. Also, I add a bit more water than it says on the pkg as I prefer it a bit less thick and sweet. My favorites are Chocolate, which is also great as hot chocolate in winter, & Raspberry Cheesecake. I used to be against sucralose but it actually tastes good, as they use a pure form, not at all like Splenda. Great for when you don't have time to cook, when traveling, and helps with transition into keto as it has electrolytes and satisfies cravings for sweets

The caramel macchiato flavor is a very recent addition to their lineup and Keto Chow jumped in with the single serving pouches and 21-meal bags right from the start. Usually Keto Chow introduces new flavors only in single serving pouches at first to gauge the response but this time it was so well liked during testing that they knew it would sell well. Hey Steve and Connor, thanks for taking a look at Keto Chow finally. I love food too but I'm also lazy so Keto Chow helps me stay the keto course more easily. When you try recipes I recommend you at least give the Keto Chow biscuits recipe with the savory chicken soup. I do find them to be a bit salty but they're quite good for a keto safe biscuit. Most people use the savory flavors as an ingredient but I also enjoy the savory flavors as a soup. I do add a few shakes of seasoned salt, a few grinds of black pepper, and a little hot sauce to up the flavors though. Without that the savory flavors are a bit bland IMHO.
My favorite fat source is the butter and as others have told you, it really helps to start with hotter water so that the butter will stay melted until it is blended. I usually use 2 tablespoons per shake and it isn't too buttery to me. It also works best in the blender (or immersion blender) since that makes sure everything gets mixed really well. The butter is emulsified into the drink by the acacia gum so it shouldn't clump up in the fridge if it has been properly blended.
One last point, I really appreciate Chris and Miriam as the owners of Keto Chow. Of course they want to make money but I really believe they want their customers to be successful on their keto journeys. There are a number of things they could do to make more money but they don't want to sacrifice their product quality to make more money. Their customer service has been very good as well in my experience. Overall just a top notch company that I'm happy to support.

Second the praise for Chris and Miriam, the owners (click Read More to find it). They are very responsible and friendly while focused on making the business go. The whole company is very responsive to customers and their website (revamped a while back) is very cheerful and well designed, to get you shopping. Keto Chow is a more flexible product than you might expect. There are lots of recipes on the site (not just mug cakes, either) if you don't want to use shakes for your keto trip. The ones I tried have been good but I think I prefer shakes. I just don't have the patience for cooking when I know I can be drinking it down pretty quick.

Keto Chow was my first endeavor into keto meals. I really enjoy the flavors. One of the biggest struggles I had in the beginning with keto was getting the necessary fat into my diet so I decided to pump up the fat in my keto chow shake. I melted 1/2 cup of butter, mixed it with the keto chow and then chilled overnight. The next day I added 1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream. It turned into the thickest yogurt/ice cream dessert and gave me 75% of the fat I needed. Their flavors are really good! I'm a huge fan of the strawberry.
