Actually, Nijika herself has enough shounen MC tropes. Tragic backstory, turning point moment, has big dreams, optimistic trait, embraces her other friends, and most importantly has yellow hair.
But hey, this is Bocchi the Rock! and it's seinen. I'm impressed that Aki Hamaji didn't take the mainstream route with the plot but instead used the perspective of Bocchi as an MC who is relatable to many people and Nijika as the 'Main Supporting Character' who is an angel figure and hope for many people, I mean, every one of us definitely wants a friend like Nijika in our lives at least one.
That's why I love BTR so much, it's a comedic show but still has layer upon layer of depth to the story and characters. It's not just comedy, not just band, it's about LIFE
We all need Nijika in our lives, but we can be a person like her✨✨

I like how Bocchi seems to inspire this "girls building a rock band conquering their fears along the way" genre. Seeing it in Yoru no Kurage and Girls Band Cry (especially!) is such a delight. Gives me more hopes for continuation of adaptation.

Man, this is why I love anime analysis videos. Others can hate these videos for "thinking too much", but I'm an English major, I ALWAYS THINK TOO MUCH. As an aspiring novelist, these videos are what made me realise the little details that the authors have put in for their characters. The subtlety and logic are what I also want to express in my own writings.
It was an amazing video. I felt like I was in a fever dream, but nonetheless, you've done a very good job in fleshing out Nijika's character, which I think is quite a difficult thing to do for a 4-koma manga. I'm also planning to start making anime analysis videos, so I'm also learning from your creative script and editing.

Great video essay. Love it. I've always thought that we all could use a Nijika in our lives, and more importantly we should be more like Nijika too. I can't but help to feel that the Nijika character is real in the way that someone out there has the same experiences and worldview as hers (and even the other characters too) and all I could say is I do hope these people can have a good life and succeed in life in whatever they do because they are genuinely good people and they deserve to have the best shot at their dreams. BTR really is a top tier anime.
Wholeheartedly agree, what I love about the characters of Nijika and the others is how they are written very meticulously to the point that yes they can be actual people out there in this world. People like Nijika deserve everything.
