Had my line 6 amp for around 3-4 years and I'm always finding new sounds and new presets to this day
I agree. I love this amp and I can make it sound like a Marshall or a Fender. This amp kicks ass.
People give the Spider IV series so much shit for no reason. If you have picky ears and know how to work the amp manually, you can get ridiculously good tones out of these amps. It helps not to be a tube biased prick, though. These are excellent amplifiers.
I don't know, I think they are excellent for practicing, beginners, and in some other situations, but they don't quite sound as good tube amplifiers. Tube amps sound a lot more natural, and less digital and fake. It's just the truth. I prefer quality over quantity, quantity as in options. I'm not saying spiders are bad, they are great for certain situations, but tube amps have far better tone, especially with overdrive.
+Flynn McTaggart Thank you. Finally someone does not talk shit about Line 6 Amps.
Why did I get a notification for this? Did I have my comment deleted?
+Flynn McTaggart I use a Fender Mustang III about 90% of the time. It sounds better than the original tube amps...im not too fond of tube snobs either. Thought about getting the 75W Spider IV for a backup but honestly with the footswitching capabilities with the added expression pedal it may be my main..I haven't played through one but one of my buddies says it handles everything the Mustang III can so fingers crossed...I'm not a tube snob but I am a Fender clean snob haha.
Flynn McTaggart your right dude it also helps to be able to play a guitar also.
4:41 is just amazing,
The loop part was really good.
I have the HD 150 and I can honestly say it's awesome! Great crystal sounding cleans and very saturated high gain, it's awesome!
First full time employee back when we were Fast Forward Designs,it was a great time watching it all grow as fast as it did, still play these amps, always great!
I recently swapped my Fender amp for a Line 5 Spider IV 75....brilliant amp well worth the swap!! Love it!! :-)
Picked up a Spider iv 75 Wednesday and I absolutely love it. Got the fbv mkii express board also.
I really can't comprehend all the hate? I've been playing guitar for 10 years (5 of those years I've spent gigging, playing private functions, playing amongst various orchestral and jazz ensembles in the greater new york area, and lastly, doing session recording for up and coming bands whose styles emulate bands like cynic, rush, animals as leaders, mew, minus the bear, king crimson, hendrix, zeppelin, sabbath, al di meola, weather report, pat metheny, beardfish, btbam, supertramp, and mars volta. If you are that good of a player and you need a specific sound or tone, or play a specific style of music, or just have thousands to throw at gear then go and rave about your $1500+ fender, orange, marshall, vox, mesa etc. on their respective youtube videos; however, don't lurk and mislead people about line 6 products. The fact is that I've made well over $100,000 over the past 5 years with Line 6 Gear (I could have made more but, I do have a real job...); And I did it with a 75w Spider Jam and FBV MKII Shortboard!!! My first amp was a Line 6 and then I "upgraded" to an Orange and immediately grew tired of it. I soon switched back to Line 6. THE POINT IM MAKING HERE IS THAT IF YOU DEMAND VERSATILITY, QUALITY, DURABILITY, "HIGH END" SOUND, AND AREN'T ASHAMED TO HAVE AFFORDABLE GEAR THEN LINE 6 IS DEFINITELY WORTH CHECKING OUT. Not one thing in this world is meant for everybody, and the same applies here. The last thing I'll add is that playing guitar or any instrument is supposed to be fun, exciting and inspire creativity. Line 6 products have gotten me further than I thought I'd ever go (and along the way I have persuaded many other guitarists to give Line 6 gear a go, and most of them either switched over or have used Line 6 products when they wouldn't have otherwise) and I will always be thankful for their products. They are a great brand and have always been there if/when I've had minor issues or just random questions.
+meismyownworstenemy , Thank you for the detailed analysis of this Line 6 amp. I'm looking to upgrade to something I can use when I play with other musicians and my 14 watt Marshal Lead with an 8" speaker doesn't cut it.This amp seems reasonable in price, quality and versatility based on my needs. I appreciate your take on Line 6 products.
+dtowndano i agree...I have the original vetta, pod HD, as well as the line 6 amp farm for my DAW... the question one should be asking (always!) is: "Does it sound good?". I think part of the problem line 6 has is with so many options, is easy to go too far. With subtlety and a bit of good taste, you can dial in a great tone. It just takes a little patience. I can't wait to see where line 6 goes next!
They hatin on the line 6 because it doesn't cost 3000.00!!!! I've had my spider IV-75 for at least 8 years now and I love it!
Just recently been using the speaker in my studio and the sound is great!
Keep the price reasonable and you'll always have a crowd wanting your stuff!
ive ben using an spider III for the past 10 years or more and im extremely happy with it, so much i didnt care to upgrad, but notw i think im gonna go for the spider IV
its a beautiful and perfect amplifier *.*
i love it
I have the Line6 Spider IV 75 Watt Simply put a Fantastic Amp it Matches any Marshall..i truly mean this...
I own spider iv120 and its BRUTAL!!!!... LOVE EM!!!!

My spider IV 150 2/12 IS SICK!!!
Wait. So Brutal means good now?
You responded to yourself. Excellent :))

Sweet video. Love it at 4:40
Quick loop was amazing
holy shit 4:40 sounds freaking EPIC !!
i had just ordered a spider 4 75! one of my friends has one, and we are both line 6 guys, i have a line 6 spider 3 15, thank god im upgrading because i seen what his spider 4 75 could do and i liked it :3
Cool tones
Wish this tutorial gave more info regarding how to set the "Drive" and "Channel" controls to keep the amp volumes setting consistent?
i love that you can customize the effects, that something i'm definetly lacking with my spider II (150W), but i don't know if i should buy this just for that, my amp still works fine, so i might just buy me a pedal or 2
Honestly these line 6 amps are so great I use them professionally.I say them because I use spider 4 and spidervalve amps for gigging. The onboard effects are great and the sounds are top notch.Great job line 6
Does the spider IV sound more like the Spider Valve or the Spider Valve mkII ?
@@zakklee2556 mark 2 in imho
Having owned a Spider IV 15 but only plugged into the full-featured model at instrument retailers, I would like to be clear. Did this version largely contain much of what had been tucked into the Flextone (which I still have) and Vetta models?
I started with the POD 2.0. I am on my 3rd spyder. I take to open jam. I have to laugh at the custom tube tone snobs. I can have the right tone for the song in seconds. I also use the line 6 wireless. Great stuff. Live recording. It does it all.
I have a 75 watt IV spider and a POD HD500X pedalboard, I need to help me understand how to connect the L or R output directly to the amplifier without losing the original sounds of the pedalboard, since I tried to set the amplifier in clean sound to get Better the sounds of the POD but it has been useless, it always sounds like stuck sounds.
I have a Line 6 IV spider 15./ I can't find any PRESET effects. Which button do I press? Also, I plugged in headphones and I get no sound coming out.
Thank you soo much sir!!!!
i just ordered a 150 cant wait to play it.
How is it?
@@brandonanderson2066 h
Man, they really improved on the models, my Line 6 Spider III 150w Combo is a little fizzy, these aren't, I am impressed....
sold!
hi. can someone please tell me what settings please on a spider 4 line 6 amp and so my electric guitar sounds acoustic? thanks
Does anyone can help me. How can I make the loop to dont stop playing. Because after the 14 seconds, it repeats but it waits like two seconds to repeat again.
I have I spider iv 120 and there is no purple haze setting, there isn't even one on the list as he is talking :/
Its sounds I just put one in layway I tried it out for a hour and went home I couldn't stop thinking about I've felt right about it,I own a mark 2master volume 100 watt Marshall that sounds great too sort of like Acdc. I love music Rock people get fired up
hi i have the s 4 150 watt head. useing a fvb3 and 2 4x12 16oms cabs. head just recently started volume crackle and then turns off and back on by its self. when volume crackles, it just screems and then low. can ya point me in any direction? i love this amp. steve via preset for almost everything metal. thx if ya can
Just bought a used 15w. The previous owner had blown the speaker. Any one know how to remove the old speaker? Back access panel seems to be glued on.
I've just bought last night a second hand and in excellent condition the Line 6 IV 75wat Spider, and it came with the MKII 4 & pedal because I wanted to change direction after 40 years of playing elec acoustic, So I also bought new an Epiphone DOT ( cherry red ) which was delivered today, and I've been jamming most of the day. I like metal, heavy rock, instrumental and some middle of the road stuff & certain dirty southern blues style, as well as my own eclectic rock. This Amp married my new Guitar well, and even my Acoustic 'Circle' guitar, except I have to turn down for that one as she does squeal a bit, and that scares my cat! I'm a female guitarist / vocalist, 51yrs, and still gigging. I am looking forward to taking them both out when I feel I've got it all down pat. .... I could afford a Marshall stack, and a Fender strat, or telecastor, or Peavey's, but I researched both items for a few months, and spoke to my muso mates, and some friends in BIG bands, high places ;) and they said GO FOR IT!! ... No regrets... all for $1100... instead of $10,000. :) This amp has loads in it, and fun to mess around with. Great sound if you find what your after on it, and looping is good too :) Enjoy!!
Yep,it is those little things like that that they kinda gloss over. But don't say anything about it or you get branded for hate speech,Im looking at buying a looper pedal to over come the same problem you have.
How's the cat?
I own a Line 6 Spider IV 15, great little practice amp. I'll be buying the 150 soon. I pondered between getting a Marshall, Fender or any of the more expensive amps but in my situation, I play as a hobby and occasionally will jam with a few buddies so the Spider is more than enough amp without breaking my bank account. I also agree that most people can't tell the difference between a tube and a really good SS amp nowadays. These old farts need to realize that technology keeps advancing.
@bemuzic there is no Undo option on the quick loop.
Insane mode and twang then just mess with delay tape echo reverb you can get creative and love the quick loop play over chords with a lead had a few since i was 13yrs old and they are affordable
I need to know from what is made the Pantera "Cowboys from Hell" preset .
How much Bass, Treable, Middle... and all the effects. Someone know it?
Soilworks dramastabber is an awesome preset.
@npusung The Spider IV series of amps do not have a manner to play any backing tracks, however, there is a CD/MP3 input to connect audio to play out of the amp. That way, you can play along with songs/backing tracks you have on your CD/MP3 player from the Spider IV's speaker. There is no backing tracks collection on the Spider IV amps.
Is there a list out there of the presets?
should I get the Line 6 POD or the Line 6 Spider IV
MASTER MASTER!
Is the loop on about 5:00 based on a song and if yes,,what song? Sounds awesome !
Can I power my cerwin vega 120's with this amp?
Dios mío! Desde el minuto 4:40 hasta el minuto 5:27 es simplemente impresionante!!
I'm intrested in spider classic 15.Do you think id core 20 will better?
so i own the line 6 IV 75 watt, and i bought it for 300 dollars at a local ted browns.
now overlooking a lot of videos and reviews online i concluded that i NEEDED one of these, let me give you three simple reasons.
1. Price: really you cant beat a price for one of these bad boys that have so many options and effects it will save you money because the effects and sounds are already pre built in the amp.
2. sound: trust me i may have a 75 watt, but the 30 will blow your eardrums off at even the low setting. also i will address the "buzzing" this amp WILL NOT buzz, the only time it has buzzed for me was when my guitars were having issues. also this amp may not be a brand name too some, but let me tell you they do not disappoint, ive heard this bad boy go up against marshalls and fenders, and it blows them out of the water and makes me laugh at how much money ($600-$800) the users spend on such lame amps with very little effects.
3. METAL: well what the fucking hell bitches. this amp is totally perfect for metal heads and will get you the tone you want. Metallica *scoffs* easy. this is a true metal head amp and if your looking at buying one i "VERY HIGHLY" recommend it the fact you can get so many good metal tones out of this amp makes it worth every fukin' penny.
guys trust me this amp is amazing you wont regret buying it. cheers.
Drew Hoff thanks! i'm planning to buy one with 75 watt
Someone should do a demo video that has all of the preset demos.
Exactly. Those are what I can't find on my Line 6 IV 15 Spider amp. I don't think he's playing my amplifier in all of this video.
Owned mine for more than 4 years. I have an old school Randall stack from the 90s which I use for stage but my Line 6 spider IV 75w has lasted me so long. If you know how to use the amp to it's potential it will satisfy your every need.
@gears146 The 120 is 120 watts vs. 75 watts so it's louder for starters. It also has two 10" speakers vs. one 12" speaker on the 75.
@1newbucketheadcover1 you need to purchase a Line 6 FBV Express MkII or FBV Shortboard MkII to get these downloads. The pedals allow you to connect your amp to the computer.
does the quick loop have an undo?
The quick loop demo reminded me of lullaby by blackfield. Same progression, actually
You can connect the amps headphone output to your PC if you have a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter cable.
Can any body help me im wanting to set my amp to play sultans of swing but not sur how to do it. Ihave the line 6 spider 4
There's that odd feeling haunting me, that 4:40 would love a nice swim in an ocean of octo reverb, some boost comp and a little bit of digital delay with mod.
;)
No, that's why i'm selling my 30w so i can get the 75. It really is a step up considering all the extra features it has. Also having digital screen makes it better for tuning cause you can actually see the spelling for the tuning. Also when you dial your eq it shows on the screen. But most of all for the 500+ amp models and artist presets! To be fair for 75w its not much bigger than the 30 which is great. So yeah i would deffinatly recommend the 75w. Hope this helped you a little!
@ibanez35924 the only real difference between the Spider and Spider Valve is volume. The tube amps are much louder. Both amps are capable of producing tones like you mentioned above.
@TheTylerGeissler you need to take a look at your Spider Manual and read up on how to save your settings. Dial in the tone and volume that you want and then hold the channel button for 3 seconds. That will save your tone.
@Bikerider914 the 120 should be loud enough to play gigs, especially if the sound guy mics the amp. If you want to use a distortion pedal in front of the amp, just make sure to start with a clean model on your Spider.
I have a spider iv 30, and i don't see any quick loop button, smart harmony, or pitch glide.
does the spider jam have the song presets the spider iv 75 watt has?
Does the 30 Watt amp have the 300 song presets like the 75, 120 and 150 Watt ones?
Can you hook up external speakers to any of these amps?
I have the Spider III 15, and everytime I switch channels, all of the channel settings automatically set them all the way up (with the knobs staying as I have them myself) making me have to slightly move them to get how I want. Does the same thing happen with the Spider IV?
@theguywiththeibanez It's the "Hoover" preset available on Spider IV 75 & up.
@TheDinosdinaras yes it does.
Hey i got a question about recording on this. Can i plug a 1/4" from the output of the amp to a 1/8" mic input on my laptop? I have a cable with both ends but im scared to try this incase its not compatible and blows my amp. Is it safe to do? if not what other methods of recording can i do. I want the pure sound not a mic up to the amp sound. Thanks please reply fast!!
How do I factory reset my spider Iv 30 watt line 6 please
how would one of these amps sound with a distortion pedal or pedal board? i have the iv 15w but i wud like to get a boss sd-1 pedal. and also i would like to know, would the 120w be loud enough to play gigs?
What amp are the demonstrations on (Wattage)?
Going to pick 1 up this saturday. So does 30w have buit in effects and all the other stuff the 75 watt has?. if not im picking up 75W
@line6movies thanks, it sounds so awesome! is it an artist preset,if not were can i find it on the amp ?
@line6movies can you help me? I am not sure whether to get a 75 or 120 because they look exactly the same and have all the smae features, whats the difference?
hey line 6 i have ur guys spider 4 75 and i was think about upgrading to the 150 watt theres no tone differnces right still the same everything ?
@theguywiththeibanez It's user preset 7C that ships with the amp.
That was me! Not a song, just a riff I came up with for the demo.
What is the song called that he plays on the deftones setting?
@escapingedenofficial we didn't create a specific Avenged Sevenfold preset but you could visit Spider Online and Custom Tone to see if any other users have.
@line6movies - So, do the Spider Jam and Spider IV share any amp models and FX and do they sound exactly the same, or do the FX and models on the Spider IV actually sound better than the Spider Jam's? Thanks!
Hi , i have a Spider IV 75 W amp... and i want to know if there is an option to make new settings and save it to channels... i mean if i can make my own presets :)
Hold the button of the channel your currently on until they all begin flashing, and then click the one you want to save it to. :P
I had a lot of fun with my Spider IV 75w amp for the first few days I had it playing with all the sounds and effects I must admit but, Guitar Center was not forthcoming on the fact that in order to switch channels and effects while playing, you MUST have a line 6 pedal. Of course I understand that with the technology Line 6 has that I would need a Line 6 pedal to use multiple effect channels, but most amps come with at least a 2 channel pedal to switch from clean to distortion and back...So, bought a line 6 floorboard! Awesome! Guess what... Not compatible with the Line 6 Spider IV. I'm not a pro, I haven't made over $1.00 in the last 5 years playing (joke at meismyown), I'm just a guy who loves to play my guitar. Unfortunately, the amp was an Army retirement gift from my wife, and the pedal a gift from my son, and I was so pissed off that the gear wasn't compatible, that my amp, pedal, and my Joe Satriani Signature guitar been sitting in a closet for over a year. Wouldn't be so irritating if the people selling your product actually knew how to use it, and what all you need to go with it to get the full benefit of having the amp.
Guitar center “experts” are NOT.....but get that axe out and start playing just the same....
I just thought the 75 watt spider for at a pawn shop for $100. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Do y'all think that's a good deal?
How do u play that song at 4:40 its really mellow
im gonna buy this but im really curious about some things. since i use stompboxes im not really interested in the effects and/or features but i want a good amp that compresses my sound at a good why so it wont sound cheap.
i dont have that much money but i can efford one of these.
so what would be better? a 30 watt or a 75 watt?
Hi I've been thinking to buy the Spider IV. Can i get a super metal tone with the 75w? Like Asking Alexandria, Miss May I and Bullet For My Valentine?
Yeah it actually is possible
+Juan Daniel Oviedo Diaz Yea Thank you hehe I already have it :D
Yep Imma buy one now😅
@tino007vt was it worth the money/ is it easy to use?
4:42 wow just...WOW!
So spooky and heart-melting.
Is this a good amp for recording a fender stratocaster, with a Shure sm57 mic?
no
4:41 Which chords are played in this section? Someone please tell me. :O
i wish i knew lol
That is a heavy riff I came up with for the video demo...
@Muc300 The Spider IV does not come with the FBV Shortboard MkII. The POD HD500 and X3 can be connected to the Spider but I would suggest dialing in a clean tone on the Spider and using most of your effects and amp modeling from the PODs. The PODs will NOT control the parameters on the amp. Only the FBV’s will do that.
@rockyanez1284 the preamps are exactly the same so both amps sound the same.
Totally.
