      @@DanielDaniel-xt3jh It sounds cool but just as a tip. Maybe go easy on the reverb for the whole track? You can get away with such a wavy tone for an accompaniment but you should make sure the top layer is more audible. Good luck writing music in the future. Don't be discouraged.

      Playing out on gigs and jamming, modeling amps do the job just fine without the hassle of dealing with tube amps. In the studio, I prefer tube amps. Under a microscope (which a studio is), tube amps do sound better.

      If you got the money buy the Spider V 240HC MKII Head it's got pretty good built-in stereo speakers and all the features some of the smaller ones don't. You can buy the foot-controller and matching 4x12 cab later. You can use it as your computers USB audio device, play phone music though it's stereo Aux-in jack and works with DAWs (try free DAWs called Reaper or Audacity) for recording too.

    Hi, love this amp been using it for a while (I highly recommend it for the price). I had a quick question for you. I'm making a sound on the user settings, what can I do to get a bit more sustain (the note itself). Also you mention there is a looper? I have a v 30 do I have this option? I am in real need of a looper so it would be great if the amp can do that.

    Glenn Fricker was right about the Mark I ... and I'll add that the Mark II isn't much better anyway.
    Imagine, YOU CAN'T TAP TEMPO A DELAY/ECHO USING THE FULL TIME RANGE OF WHAT THE AMP IS DESIGNED FOR (20ms to 2s)!!!! (Well, you may never be able to TAP faster that around 90ms anyway ... BUT WHY LIMITING? ...).
    They're so clever at Line 6 that they affected a "NOTE SYSTEM" to the TIME of the delay/echo when you decide to TAP TEMPO your effect ... the result being that if you want to TAP TEMPO and get the "WHAT YOU TAP IS WHAT YOU GET" delay/echo that you need, well, you're limited to the quarter note choice (♩) which limits the TIME from 250ms to 2s ... in short YOU CAN'T PROGRAM A SLAP-BACK (90ms Rockabilly type, or even 30ms Beatles type) as a default value and TAP a long TIME TEMPO with the preset you've programmed ... and then maybe going back to the SLAP-BACK if you call the same preset again (like with a "FBV 3" or a "FBV Shortboard MkII" control board for instance).
    Guess what! You could TAP whatever you wanted with the Spider IV.
    They also removed the Pre & Post BOOST feature in the Spider V, which is an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE when you play live with a "FBV 3" or a "FBV Shortboard MkII" with the Spider IV. And this Pre & Post BOOST feature is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ADD: just changing the INPUT and OUTPUT VOLUME VALUES. That's all!
    It seems they hired a truckload of "Einsteins" between the Spider IV and the Spider V were developed.

    • @DanielDaniel-xt3jh
      @DanielDaniel-xt3jh 5 лет назад

      you could plug in just about anything into this i'd imagine but honestly it's the best modeling amp i've used. i really don't need pedals or footswitches with this. in fact, i can tell you how to get a good 80's hair metal tone. choose Jungle Slash pre-setting, low: 3, mids: 5, high: 9, distortion, SFX1: analog chorus, SFX2: 366ms delay, reverb: vintage (high), use whammy bar for tremolo and dive bombs.

    • @Bob-tp3nx
      @Bob-tp3nx 5 лет назад

      @@DanielDaniel-xt3jh No. It has to be an FBV MKII or FBV3. Because it has that special CAT5 cable that Line6 uses. You cant use just any controller. If you use anything under the FBV3 then the looper isn't available.

    And can you use other multi fx pedals with these amps as well?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 года назад +1

      Hey, Khyris! Great question and thanks for your interest. That model doesn’t have a built in attenuator for different wattage settings, but since it’s a digital amp it tends to do better at lower volume settings than something more like a tube amp. However, we do have other solid state/digital amps in this price range with built in attenuators if it’s something you would need. As for the FX, there isn’t an FX loop on the back of this amp but you can send any effects pedals you want in to the front of the amp.
      I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

    Why doesn't anyone ever demo these amps without the pedal? Is it because the amp alone doesn't make all the different rock, grunge, classic, clean sounds like it's advertised to do? Doesn't that pedal cost more than the amp? Does the FBV work with any amp or does it just make this amp hands free?

But for having fun at jam sessions or noodling around the house Line 6 gets close enough. Sure beats lugging around a tube amp. Great bang for your buck and very consistent sounds, not tempermental like many tube amps.

    How many "song presets" does it have ?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  3 года назад +1

      Hi, Owen! The Spider V should have 128 individual presets, and 44 of those are song presets. I copied a link to all of those presets below.
      On top of this, you will have 106 modeling options, and over 100 effects models. So, these amps have a TON of flexibility - they're great if you're looking to have an extremely wide variety of tone all in one amp.
      Feel free to give me a shout if you want to chat over those features a bit further!

    ( Line 6 ) reminds me of that friend who always comes around when they need something.
    They swear this time it's different, and they're going to change.
    Just give them one more chance.🤔 I just cant !!!

    I hate the recent spiders and now with the lame named presets it sucks worse. The spider valve mk2 was the best

    I bought one based on this great review!
    BUT unfortunately, in the real world, all the tones from this amp sound fake and digital. The tones i get from my old XTPro are still much (!) better.

      well what do you expect from their lowest priced amp. you want something that sounds alive and full buy the helix. For what this amp offers the price can't be beat.

    Amp. 500 dollars. Foot Controller. 5000 dollars. This is why Line 6 sucks. I'll stick with the Boss Katana.

    far to complicated ,spend more time fiddling with the amp than practicing guitar!

      It's there if you need it. Practising on a standard amp can sometimes make you feel like you're missing out with effects/reverb/wah etc. This allows you to search into those subjects of effects and make your learning more fun.
