Really who said it's bad? Every video and comment I've seen on him have been positive maybe I'm not looking hard enough
well you know, a lot of disgruntled hard core collectors who don't believe the originals can be improved on...
@chefatron oh I get it don't get me wrong some figures are still superior like hftd prime is better than the ss version but other times they do improve like how the kingdom cyclonus is better than the universe deluxe
Hot Shot was actually the second Transformers toy I've ever gotten after the ROTF Legends Class Bumblebee. They used to sell the Legends Class Universe figs for like $5 in Dollar General, and I remember thinking: "Oh, he'd look cool with my Bumblebee!!" Now I'm gonna do the same nearly two decades later 🤣

Great Review as always!! I decided to be a little more selective in purchases as I want to just finish G1 so I can get out of collecting so I'm skipping some of the figures in the other universes because honestly I don't need them. yes he does look nice but paying more for less these days has been getting on my nerves.
Same, G1 only limitation for myself too, but I may make an exception on this guy. He just looks great.

I think what surprises me the most is that the door windows on his arms are a separate piece of plastic from his doors: it feels like at least a decade since we've seen dedicated separate windows outside of Masterpiece
oh yeah, I was shocked too that the door panels were removable!

I'm a total g1er and ended up getting him and was surprised how good he feels and transformed, my shoulders are the same, just short of being straight up, fun figure, awesome review cheers

but that legacy united vector prime though.... man I wanted to hammer it to bits!

Still have 4 decos of the original Deluxe Class as well as 4 decos of the Legion Class. I don't get the same 'magic' from this, sadly. We like what we like, right... 😅

@chefatron Hehe... Thanks, bro. Almost all... There are, in fact, Japanese & BotCon exclusive reuses that were extremely hard to come by back in the day.
I was hoping that Hotshot/Excellion here was given the 'Voyager' treatment like his Speedia counterpart, namely Nitro Convoy from the Spedia Capsule. The latter is truly very solid ~ equalling the quality of that bygone era during the 'Golden Age' of Transformers toys.

Honestly they should've made the arm and back kibble into something that can fold up. The toon model was based on the toy which didn't know how to handle the kibble at the time. We don't need it still 🙃
yes perhaps.... but I think they tried to stay loyal to the original design with this...
My classic Cybertron Hot Shot had yellow wings and must have been the Hasbro release since I'm almost positive he came from Walmart (he was in a 2-pack). The only reason I got him was to yank those yellow wings off and put them on Excellion.

@chefatron The mold is already created Legacy United deluxe Star Raider Cannonball.
This mold is the closes we will get. Which in the past has always been a recolor from Red Alert, but still not the defense team molds.

I actually like the new cyber planet keys the old one were too big and looked silly on the figures. The new ones at least don't look as bad attached to the figure in either mode

la versión original fue buena en su momento pero tenía la articulaciones limitadas y la transformación muy sencilla la nueva tiene la misma transformación pero tiene más pasos y la cabeza se guarda está mejor es este y ojalá salga más personajes de Transformers Cybertron 2005 para el próximo año que viene ser sus 20 años

What psychopath was telling you this was in any way a bad figure? The shoulders are the only flaw and even so it’s such a minor one that I’m more than willing to overlook it
well, you have to respect other collectors' opinion... some are really loyal to the original designs.... so...
There are two things I find baffling about this new version.
First, not taking the opportunity to improve the should articulation over the original just seems bizarre.
It's clearly inferior engineering.
Second, how could they have dropped the ball so hard on the molded-in details compared to the original?
It's practically plain in comparison.
Worst of all is the engine block which is just a plain polygon.
This is a perfect example of sticking to closely to the original design.
This little dude is a lesson in how not to "update" a Cybertron figure.
And the crazy thing is that because it is so close to the original, it's still pretty damn cool!
yeah, like I said in the video, a re-do is going to be difficult because the original was pretty good, much like what they're trying to do with Prime and Animated... I guess you just can't beat the original... unless you do a "missing link" hahahaha
@@chefatron Honestly, at least as far as the surface detailing, it could have been done really easily which is why it's so baffling.
But you don't even have to go as far as Missing Link. Legacy DLX Optimus Prime is an absolutely amazing update of the G1 original.
