- Gary Motherflipping Oak. I have a love and hate relationship with this guy. I love the arrogance he shows sometimes but other times it becomes a little bit much for me to handle. Gary Oak is the grandson of the well renowned Pokemon research Professor Oak. Almost everyone in the Pokemon Universe knows who he is. When you are the grandson of someone that well known and respected you are bound to have high expectations. For the most part, Gary did well to fit the standards that were laid out for him. He was a pretty decent Pokemon trainer for someone who traveled to two regions and later he followed in his Grandfather’s footsteps in becoming a well respected researcher. He now currently helps Professor Rowan with his research in the Sinnoh region. Along his journey though and even now as a researcher he still captures and trains Pokemon to some degree. With all these Pokemon he has captured, what would make the best team of 6 pokemon for Gary Oak to use? Seeing all these Pokemon Gary owns, gave me the inspiration to build him his own best team. When making this team for Gary Oak, I will be taking into consideration his favorite pokemon, battle consistency, team synergy and style, offensive and defensive prowess, and the moves and other important data of the Pokemon.

I'd probably put his OP Charizard in there too. Even though in the games it's overrated, Ash's Charizard is a boss.
Nathan Baca dude Ash’s Charizard is nothing but a nuisance right from the very beginning! It constantly disobeyed Ash and has made him lose battle after battle despite the excessive amounts of training it has received from the Charicific Valley! It costed Ash his chances of winning the Indigo League when Ash needed him the most, Lost to Blaziken despite the type advantage it had against it, sure Charizard has taken down a Legendary Articuno but dude but let’s be honest it’s an ice type that is considered the weakest Legendary out of the Legendary bird trio! Also in Charizard’s next battle, Charizard failed to take out ANY of Brandon’s Pokémon in a 4v4 match, Pikachu, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur (pre evolve starters) had to do all the heavy lifting for Charizard (who is NOT ONLY fully evolved BUT has received more than enough training at the Charicific Valley) THAT’S SAD! Also, it failed to take out Drake’s Dragonite and failed to help Ash capture a Chikorita!!!!

Every previous major character should have a Mega Pokemon, if possible. May would have Mega Blaziken, Cynthia probably would have Mega Garchomp, and Barry could have Mega Heracross

Gary is my favorite character in the anime. His character development from indigo league to Johto league was really cool to watch.
I loved Gary's character development especially in Johto. He really matured as a character / trainer. He was originally my least favorite character but after his character development during the Johto region, he became one of my top favorites.
Paul had way better character development in one season. Sorry but in my opinion Paul is better rival than Garry. I like Garry too though

Nidoqueen is so underrated. Most people are only obsessed with the king. Both are awesome.
Originally, Gary Oak actually used to be my least favorite character in the Pokémon anime. I found him a bit annoying in the Indigo league season but after watching through the Johto series, and seeing how much he improved as a character / trainer, he became one of my top favorite characters. I think he had a great deal of character development on the show. Plus, I really like the friendship between him and Ash. I hope Gary makes an appearance again some day and if he does, I hope he still has his more tolerable / friendlier personality but still keeps his attitude.

I'd probably choose Kingdra over Blastoise as I feel like it's generally the stronger Pokémon (disregarding Gary's relationship to his pokémon of course) and its Dragon typing would definitely come in handy (Water/Dragon sure is a good type combination) and I'd pick Alakazam over Scizor as I really love Alakazam and find it to be pretty f*cking strong. That's totally biased though. I agree with the other four team members completely. Nice vid!

Do Best teams for every champion (Lance, steven, cynthia, alder, diantha) also i'm not counting wallace and iris cuz they appear to be more of the r/s version for wallace and the Black 1 version for iris, when they wrer not champions (and for iris just being a neusense), also i think you should do this in order of generations, so: Lance, that steven, than cynthia, than alder, than diantha
I like how the entire team could have been caught in kanto and eventually became their final forms once he hit a new region.
He probably has a Cloyster, Ninetales, Gyarados, Rhydon, Exeggutor, Magneton/Magnezone, Pidgeot, Raticate, Sandslash like in the games

Gary IS the best. And while i so have nostalgia for him, there is barely any nostalgia, just a Little bit. But anyways, Gary is the OG rival. He's a jerk, took 2 regions to defeat and owns some very powerful pokemon. Paul, while being more of a jerk than Gary, he just takes the jerkism to far. He uses the pokedex to see if the pokemon is powerful enough and if not, he releases it which i don't like, he's basically reukra's son (like if you get that referance). He's just not as good of a rival as Gary.

6th is actually one of his minor pokemon: Skarmory. The Japanese opening "Spurt!" made me believe it could be one of Gary's more useful Pokemon. If not, then Electivire.
As for Ash:
Pikachu, Charizard, Snorlax, Sceptile, Greninja, and one of the following: Heracross, Krookodile, Goodra. I'd pick Heracross unless Sceptile learned a grass move, at which point I'd choose Goodra.
If Ash decided to follow his name and become a Fire-Type trainer: Charizard, Quilava, Infernape, Talonflame, and Torracat would form the team with Pikachu remaining as his favorite.

Well correct me if I’m wrong but in blue/red/ leaf green/fire red didn’t he complete the kanto dex minus legendary Pokémon? So doesn’t that mean he has those Pokémon? Or is this strictly anime only?
Seeing rapid spin being used defensively, I hope in future games they add the ability to raise the user’s defence by 1 point. Having it raise the defence stat should work really well with bulky types like Blastoise and make it one of this Pokemon’s signature moves alongside hydro pump and skull bash. They could even keep it at the same 20 base power, it is doing three things at once: clearing entry hazards for later team members, raising its own defence while also hitting back at the opponent.
I also had this Team in mind for the Best Gary Team and its pretty solid

As a kid I stopped watching Pokémon after the johto league. I always wondered what happened to Gary after ash beat him. He went on another adventure but what became of him?
He decided that he wanted to be a Pokemon researcher like his grandfather, Professor Oak. Last time he made an appearance was in Diamond and Pearl as a Pokemon research assistant I guess you could say for Professor Rowan of the Sinnoh region.
I think gary has a steelix I think it fits him pretty well

I don’t think Scorbunny will be a Fire/Fairy. I think it’d be another Fire/Fighting type starter. The reason being is the bandaid on it’s nose, but who knows maybe they’ll pull another Decidueye, where the second evolution has a different typing than it’s final evolution. The rest seem pretty good, maybe Sobble will be a different typing like maybe Water/Ghost.
That's not good, especially cuz the fire type starter loses the advantage and gains a disadvantage against the grass starter but it gets a neutral standoff against the water starter and the water starter becomes neutral against the grass starter, basically you messed up the rock-paper-scissors format

The starter shirt is not only lazy, but is also being sold as merch for a RUclipsr who doesn't own any of the 24 characters listed on the shirt. Now, I could tolerate this shirt if it had a personal format, as an example, any Red vs. Blue shirt, because the characters themselves were created by Rooster Teeth but Rt doesn't own the models, they were made by 343 Industries.

I agree with the list except Nidoqueen over Nidoking....Maybe it's just 'cos I only waytched the first few seasons of the anime but Nidoking is just *The* Pokemon I associate with Gary; it was his go to heavy hitter up until the Indigo League and seeing get taken out by the Golem was specifically to show just how tough the league was.
