@emanuelsavage-op5mm 2 options really, if you want a somewhat cheaper upgrade you could go for the i9 11900kf and extra ram. Or you could go for the full platform change. In no scenario 3700x is stronger than 11900kf, 3700x is even behind 5600x your application of thermal paste was awful, messy and too much btw that maybe explains some points in this messy video. @@RestoTek yes i have an itx chassis and a low profile noctua cooler so i power limited my cpu and it's still very capable. You just applied the thermal paste like lazy people and that application affected ur results. 3700x is on a much older architecture and is beaten by the 6 core 5600x so it's not even near as powerful as 11900kf
_" very much relevant and more powerful than many other new chips out there"_ I know this is an old post, but what new CPUs are you speaking of exactly? The 11900K was a horrible part, lost to the 10900K in many games and any comparable CPU from Ryzen 5000 series was even more performant. For Intel, Alder lake and beyond, literally mop the floor in performance over the 11900K. So just curious where you are seeing this...
@davidandrew6855 single threaded workloads are way better with an 11900k than 10900k, the later had a smaller die, was harder to cool and lacked a few features such as pcie 4. 11900k is still pretty much relevant and powerful, it's more powerful than a 12400 that has a completely new architecture and uses much less power due to a different manufacturing process so idk how you got that mopped the floor from. 11900k only lost to 10900k in a couple of multi threaded workloads and except for games like cs go, in no instance the 10900k is better than 11900k in gaming. 11900k still has a very good single core power and is a very good cbip for gaming because it supports pcie4 and other modern features, it's relatively easy to cool due to it's massive die, it's less susceptible to power problems because 14 nanometer process is very resilient and evolved compared to newer processes and on top of all that it's a very stable chip that doesn't constantly run in 100 percent like new chips. I have one and iam very happy with it and i think with a good gpu you are neck and neco with any 12th gen machine and much better than any 10th gen. 11900k was the last good old traditional chip intel produced.
Short answer: No, it's a solid cpu, very stable. Now if someone upgrades every gen, it would be lackluster. Also, you're using cheap Intel stock cooler on a flagship CPU, on that locked motherboard (which you gave disclaimer on), substantially nuked performance about 50% (I scored over 1200 in CB 24 multicore)
@Gamejone_123 I didn't use a stock cooler, that's the biggest cooler I've ever owned what are you talking about? Granted the motherboard was lacking and I think I could have done a couple of other things to boost it's performance. Overall in the end I did say it was a great deal, especially now that 13th and 14th gen are failing
I don’t know what Intel CEO is smoking in his office but truth be told buy one of those and had to slap my self in the head sold it for 250 on eBay and pick up a 5900x works like a charm gets the job done with less heat and more power .
I think it's a price point issue at launch it was a joke, later when it dropped to £140 was goof value. I have since picked up a ryzen 7 5800x but haven't built it yet. But yeah I sold my i9, it was too thirsty and too hot
The i7 is allot better and it performs better aswell, I guess it says it in the price aswell where the i7 is still worth about $260 and the i9 is at $140 lol, I play hell divers on this thing and my fans ramp up pretty hard even with that cooler
@@RestoTek The 11900k should be a hair faster because its die is the same as the 11700k but just binned higher so it can handle handle around 0.3Ghz more frequency, but at the cost of heat and wattage, it just doesn't follow intels usual chemantics where an i9 has a different die and more cores to an i7. its funny how peoples on ebay still wants fortune for older cpus such as 9900k or 10900k and their performance are not even match to some budget cheap cpus , for comparison 139$ 12600kf as new now wipe floors with all this cpus easilly but peoples still think that 9900ks worth 200$ or more as used on ebay
why buying and paying old shit cpus on mobos which are end road and relative expensive as used when you can get new much better cpus for less money as 12600kf or 5700x3d ,7500f ....

@@RestoTek Set the IA AC/DC Load Line to 0.3 and the cheap flies. That's the first (and last if you use APE) thing to do.
Where are you seeing those prices for the 11900? thinking about upgrading my 10700kf just for the hell of it, even if it’s only minimal. At the very least i’ll squeeze a little more performance out of LGA1200.
I think the bigger benefit is gen 4 pci-e lanes, here's a link, looks like they have put their prices up a little: www.playthek.co.uk/intel-s1200-core-11900kf-tray-8x3-125w-gen11-intel-hardware-electronic-pZZa1-2100806557.html
Look for 11900F. These are MUCH cheaper and 2-3% slower.
@@radosuaf I should have got that instead 😅
@@RestoTek Absolutely best LGA 1200 chip for the price.
@radosuaf 100% especially the price, it's actually cheaper than the i7
I have 11900kf with 4070 super right now and all the other games are fine on 2k but on some Helldivers 2 planet like hellmire or trandor, the CPU gets bottlenecked like crazy, I'm planning on skipping over completely to 7900x3d since its literally only 50usd more than 7800x3d in my country and I'll need those extra cores for productivities anyways + they have already fixed the CCD problem so those extra cache would last long enough for my next GPU changes.
@Drillad yeah that's not a bad should I would do the same, also the 4070 super is a pretty decent gpu so it will pair nicely with that. Just one more thing make sure if you have money left get an ssd that supports the latest pcie gen socket on the mobo gen4/5 whatever it is
Honestly lga 1200 is a pretty good platform for budget systems there but i still argue your better of going with ryzen since ryzen 5 3600s are coming down more in price from what i noticed that and the slightly better upgrade path if your lucky with deal hunting.
Totally agree, ryzen 5 3600 was the go to cpu and still is today, super efficent and pretty quick. Like you said I think price between the i9 11900kf and the R5 3600 are pretty close or the R5 is a bit cheaper. If I didn't already have some lga 1200 parts I would definately go down the am4 route
I picked it up at launch for 300€ and a motherboard for 120€ so 420€ and honestly i am happy with the purchase. Yeah yeah a 5900x is better but at the time was a lil over 500€ plus mother board cost.
Yeah I have to say if your use case is mainly gaming it's a pretty decent cpu even with some of the short comings. Been playing helldivers on a 49" full setting and while it gets hot, it runs it very well
Just bought this for 100 euro, for a guest system with a 2080ti in it atm. Upgraded it from a i5 10600K so that is kinda nice. Noctua D15 on it and it stays nice and cool for me while gaming or benchmarks. It is on a Unify Z490 board though. Awesome CPU for the money nowadays :d
@dannyvanlaarhoven it really is and it's great for gaming! The main thing is cooling this beast!
just got one for $100 bucks so even though it may be crappy for productivity its better than my i5-11400f plus i got a az590 aorus master for $100 as well and a be quiet rock 2 for 1 buck and a lian li dynamic xl for $50 i am a true deal seeker ..was able to recase my alienware r12
@TheRealBlacHood same here lol, I've been using my i9 playing helldivers on a ultrawide at 1440p and it hasn't missed a beat, it does get hot but it's incredible
I just bought the 11900KF with a ROG Maximus Xii Hero Wifi Z490 motherboard for $320 USD. I figure it's a great deal and should last me a good while for gaming and basic Office work. Transferring my old cooler, RAM and PSU over from my Z370 with i7 9700. I've also got an RTX 4070 Super to pair it with. Will wait till intel proves that the 15th Gen doesn't melt before I consider upgrading again, at least for a few years. This should be a gaming beast.
@tlevans62 it's a brilliant cpu, enjoy 😉
ohhh just picked up an 11900k to pair with my 4070s , hopefully its be going well for you, and i have something to look forward to :D
@Chilledoutredhead that's nice man, should work amazingly well together, might be worth undervolting a little to keep the temps down but otherwise good to go!
@@RestoTek Im cooling it with an NHD15 :) , but still want o undervolt for sure. , im probably mad to have bought it (208$ i paid, never seen it cheaper in the uk :( ) but i am currently using an 11600 (non k) , and just wanted to see what an i9 variant would do
youre doing something wrong if an 11900k is getting beat by a 11700k in cinebench. its the same cpu but with much higher clock speed, so you did something wrong or the chip is bad. my overclocked 11900k crushes the 11700k in all cinebench and all multi-thread benchmarks.
@dingusmagee3326 I think your right I must have done something! I'll have a play around and see what might have happened
@@RestoTek to give you an idea of where it should be, my best cinebench r23 score is 17,034. That's with a 5.2ghz all-core 46 uncore and 3733cl14 ram. 5.3ghz is possible for some, so higher r23 is possible.
running my 10900k @ 5.4ghz and 5.1ghz cache decent uplift from stock
@2zzgeSupercharged might need to give that a try, would you be tempted to get a 11th gen version or stick with 10th gen?
@@RestoTek na mate i'll be sticking with the 10900k till it's too old to run games. I'm running a 6900xt currently. Anything above a 4090 will be a bottleneck so maybe upgrade in 5 years or so

still running a 11900k on my laptop. my poor poor 330w charging brick have to carry this with a 3070 haha. but this chip still look like a saint compare to the 13th and 14th i9 shenanigans lol.
@xuanhieuhoangnguyen3973 I know right 🤣, people were saying how bad it was but who has the last laugh now!!! Lol
I'm working on a tool called docker which is very demanding of RAM and CPU, I'm also a gamer, my current setup is a i5 11400f, deepcool ak620, 16gb of ram, rtx 3070 ti, when I'm working very often my computer crashes do to lack of ram, do you think upgrading to the i9 11900kf and buy other 16gb kit is a good idea, or should I spend an extra 250 dollars to get the ryzen 7 7700, b650 motherboard and 32gb of ddr5 ram?.
@emanuelsavage-op5mm I would go with the cheapest option first and get 16gb of ddr4 ram which I think will set you back maybe 40 dollars. If that does not resolve your problem then I would go with ryzen, the i9 has gone up in price now due to all the quality issues intel are currently facing
Ryzen 7700 is like 160$ on AliExpress now
@emanuelsavage-op5mm 2 options really, if you want a somewhat cheaper upgrade you could go for the i9 11900kf and extra ram. Or you could go for the full platform change. It really depends on how much your cpu and ram is limiting you at the moment. Maybe start with only 16gb of ram upgrade and then go from there I think
@@RestoTek thanks I did the whole platform upgrade to am5
The problem with the i9 11900k is that it isn;t a i9, It's an i7. If the 11th gen was priced better, it might have been better recieved.
100%, it's a better batch of the i7 with a higher overclock
In no scenario 3700x is stronger than 11900kf, 3700x is even behind 5600x your application of thermal paste was awful, messy and too much btw that maybe explains some points in this messy video.
I have a 11900kf and it's a very capable cpu that is still very much relevant and more powerful than many other new chips out there.
@PesareShojae did you configure your 11900kf in anyway?
@@RestoTek yes i have an itx chassis and a low profile noctua cooler so i power limited my cpu and it's still very capable. You just applied the thermal paste like lazy people and that application affected ur results. 3700x is on a much older architecture and is beaten by the 6 core 5600x so it's not even near as powerful as 11900kf
_" very much relevant and more powerful than many other new chips out there"_
I know this is an old post, but what new CPUs are you speaking of exactly?
11900k was the last good old traditional chip intel produced.
where is it 140.
It's not that price anymore, it was until gen 13 and 14 decided to start failing
@@RestoTek i thought so, guess ill go f myself ☠️ ty for confirming
Same I looked at it has gone up by quite a bit, it was good value
But yeah I sold my i9, it was too thirsty and too hot
just bought a 11th kf today for 230 so its a good deal i think
had an i5 11400f before
Yeah i think it's a pretty good deal, since I made my video prices have crept up
I would get an i7 11700k instead, the 11900k I refuse to touch the thing its just an overpriced i7 with frequency and heat cranked up its like a joke
Brand new an 11900kf is 200 and an 11700kf 230 euro where I live so intel is desperate to sell these i9 things, I have an i5 11500 and wouldn't upgrade with another lga 1200 cpu because this socket died with 11nth gen and my cpu will be good enough for a while.
@floatingpointerror55 saves you from buying a new socket motherboard and all the other bits that go with it. Tbh even though this 11th gen i9 is terrible, if the power consumption does not bother you then it's great for gaming, easily keeps up with my rtx 3080ti
It’s still a perfectly good cpu. And no where near as bad as people make out.
@ESKATEUK 100%, the reviews at the time slated this cpu, although I do agree the price was a little high, now though it's definately good value for money
@ yeah the issue was, the price was high, and it should have had at least 10 cores. But in all honesty for most stuff it’s not needed and did actually outperform the 10th gen i9. I picked one of these up pre owned for £120, and it’s made a big improvement over my old i5 10600k I had.
@ESKATEUK yeah 100% for £120 it's a steal and keeps up with allot of the newer cpus to a certain extent
@ that’s right mate, I have a similar setup to my mate, and he has an i7 12700k, both with a 3080ti, and in all honesty, unless you play in 1080p, you won’t notice the difference!
@ESKATEUK I recently built 2 PCs both with weaker cpus but running rtx 3080 gpus, and everyone that wants to buy it asks how it performs at 1080p lowest settings and I'm like, this is advertised as a 1440p Gaming PC, it's not gonna push out high fps lol, both are i5 10th gen
I got it for free from a buddy of mine lol so idc. Its way better then my old cpu
@Lupo_cb haha that's awesome, well if it was free then there ain't much to complain about 😀
its funny how peoples on ebay still wants fortune for older cpus such as 9900k or 10900k and their performance are not even match to some budget cheap cpus , for comparison 139$ 12600kf as new now wipe floors with all this cpus easilly but peoples still think that 9900ks worth 200$ or more as used on ebay
What really confuses me is that the amd 8350fx is still worth a fortune for some un explicable reason!
