Ike's flames were changed because his flames were blue in his own game. Marth and Ike's alt costumes are not their promoted costumes from their own games. Marth's alt costume is a nod to sigurd, another FE lord. Ike's alt costume is a nod to hector, a main lord from FE7. These games are not connected in their own universes at all.
I would recommend starting with playing fire emblem 7. That was the first FE game that made it to america. It sort of has a short tutorial section to introduce you into the game. It's also arguably the best FE game in the franchise. The latest two fire emblem games on the 3ds are extremely different and in my opinion, god awful weeaboo trash. I have no nicer way to say that.
+Jarek The Gaming Dragon I'd actually intended to cover the fan translations of the original Fire Emblem games at some point, but I'll be sure to add that one to the list of ones to check out.
A LOT of changes and improvements were made to Fire Emblem since the first games. Fire emblem 7 to Fire emblem radiant dawn is really the high point of the franchise. I'd recommend getting a grasp of those games before moving to the old ones. Possibly playing Fire Emblem 6 after beating Fire Emblem 7. Fire emblem 7 is a prequel to Fire Emblem 6. FE6 is roy's game, he's the son of the main lord, eliwood in FE7. As a warning most fire emblem games are not connected at all. Roy/his father eliwood have two games. FE6/7 Ike has two games. Path of radiance and radiant dawn. Marth has two games. All these are in entirely different universes not connected to each other. Some occasionally will be in the same universe but thousands of years later, like awakening being in marth's universe 2000 years after. Thus not really being connected at all.
Don't forget; red armour Ike is a Zelgius nod, while black armour is the Black Knight.........I'm assuming you've played the games, so you know what's up.

while many combos can be nullified through good defensive skills (i.e. DI and SDI) there are true combos that will connect within reasonable damage percents (above very low percents and below very high percents) every time given enough technical proficiency like for example falcon's down air into forward air. just thought id throw out that "soft combos" isnt an entirely accurate definition there are combos that guaranteed in certain situations but the beauty of the game is that the combos are flexible. they dont have to be defined as you always use move A and combo into move B. depending on the attack, move A could combo into move B, X or Z.
Actually, stomp knee isn’t exactly “true” in essence since you still need to follow their DI, and they can even SDI up in the knee to tech and punish your attempt. Basically every combo depends on following the opponent’s DI or tech chasing

CC, Double-stick DI etc. No you can pretty much get out of anything that isn't an infinite grab-chain, even then most end up in 50-50 situations, part of what makes smash so compelling is the level of interaction between players. There are combo's which LOOK to be true combos, however they require allot of player-prediction and reaction to pull off.
Garethaxz mmmm id argue that they still count as true combos. Just because they DI'd a little bit differently doesn't change the fact that they are stuck in hitstun and will absolutely get hit by the move. Examples: Fox uthrow upsmash on spacies on various percents. Falcon downthrow/upthrow knee on floaties around 80-90% Marth weak uair to fsmash on basically anyone at mid-high percent. Falco shine aerial on anyone at any percent (even 999%) The list goes on forever. Can you DI? Yes. Will it stop you from getting hit? Probably not since players can react to this, not predict. This argument would have been much more compelling if all combos were like marth's fthrow fsmash.
@@fasagalag I think generally two-hit true combos aren't even what he's referring to in the video. The stuff that's oppressive to new players is the long input combos of traditional fighters, and DI makes that a non-issue for smash titles.
"This may very well be the single biggest most extensive mod in video game history." Ehh, I highly doubt that. Video game modding is such a huge hobby, with so many people who do it and for so many years, that there's got to be multiple mods that are bigger than Project M.
Yeah that was my main problem with this video (aside from the repetitiveness and lacking a lot of substance for an almost 20 minute video). Project M is an impressive mod, no doubt. But it's weird for anyone to even think that it's the most extensive mod in video game history when mods like CS exist, which completely changed the game from Half Life (while Project M is very different from Brawl, in the end they're both still Smash games), and the WC3 DotA mod, which spawned a whole new genre completely separate from RTS. And hell I'm pretty sure there are Elder Scrolls mods out there that are effectively a whole new game too, complete with new story lines and voice acting.
I would recommend taking a look at the Project M Community Completion project, if you are interested. They took the leaked 3.6.1 patch, which included several partially finished characters, and have been doing their best to finish what the team originally started.
I actually just recently downloaded Project +, which is a continuation of Project M. I’ve wanted to play Project M for years and being able to finally play it is so much fun, and it’s incredible how different it is
I was very impressed with the quality in this video. Voice and writing for this video is superb. I do hope you continue this work and to improve this channel, and to maybe educate people like me about old and forgotten games. As a player of Project M I appreciate this video dedicated to it.
Project M means a lot to me, and I desperately want to do anything I can to raise awareness about it. And yes, I'm definitely planning to continue working on this channel. Right now the going is slow because of my work schedule and other responsibilities, but I'm not stopping, no matter what happens. There are too many good games that need to be covered that aren't for me to be silent.
I love your video :) and I have to agree. PM is amazing. Especially Samus (which was my main in melee) is soooo well done. it is such a pity that this mod isn't featured on smash tournaments anymore.
Not really. Project M just was on the bench while ultimate was the hot new game but after P+, ultimate went back to the bench and thought about its online system.
Really great video. I'm only realizing now that its 2 years old. Would love to see more content like this. I subbed in Hope's that you'll come back and make more great vids
This is beautiful. Thank you. I'm literally crying right now actually, PM means a lot to me and I'm overjoyed to hear your words of support for our community. Also: ever thought of going to a tournament? this channel can take off thanks to this video and i'm sure people would love to see you at a tournament if that becomes the case. stay classy :D +1 sub
I've definitely thought about attending one, even if only to get my butt kicked. I doing I would do very well, no matter what, but if my subscribers want to see me try, I will definitely go into it with good humor.
And yeah, I have a TON of admiration for the PM community, not just because of their accomplishment in making the game what it is, but also in being a good example of a competitive community that still manages to be genuinely nice.
Everyone that goes to smash tourneys gets their butts kicked! But it's a very fun and engaging experience, in addition to being a great way to meet other people near you that share your love of the game.
I just noticed this is a 2016 video. But yeah, Pm is only something that can be enjoyed for one's first-hand experience. What I loved about PM was the modding scene itself, I remember getting stage mods, character mods but most importantly, I also made custom character skins, music and stage mods. It was amazing getting something ready and seeing it play on screen.
The two best smash games are Smash ultimate, and project M. Both for different reasons. I would take ultimate any day but I can see the appeal for project M for sure
This was an amazing review, getting project M legacy pretty soon once it's completely out so I can get it the game, it looks like a lot fun, I really would like to get into it. 💯💯👌
Project M is such a huge blessing to everyone, it’s the most fun Smash Experience I’ve had, even more than Ultimate, and I only play normal Smash Matches with the CPU maybe I’ll check out online someday, there’s also another mod Project M EX Remix which has even more characters including fan favorites such as Lyn, Ninten, Shadow the Hedgehog plus more and decloned characters such as Daisy, Dark Samus even the addition of Blood Falcon and Black Shadow. This mod however seems to be unfinished and could sometimes crash and certain characters feel unfinished but please do check it out, I have many videos of it on my Channel to see before you play.
Project M is so amazing, definitely the best mod for SSBB! I am making a SSB style fan game in Unity and I want to use SSBM/Project M's fast-paced gameplay, mechanics and more in my game but I need help! Great video!
Project M will live on. Although the original version from the original dev team is dead. There are already new versions of it in BrawlVault that expand on the original and final 3.6 version
This is a really good video! I am a major fan of Project M, and this was very well written. BTW, what is the music used in the video? I'm mainly looking for the music used during the Mechanics section that starts at 8:36 .

Going from 200k+ views on tournaments and massive representation to 7.7k views and a select-few tournament hostings a year does mean it's more popular than Melee was back when it almost died out, but still makes it pretty forgotten by the standard of most other titles.
Great review and would love to see more of this series
P.S I know its not a fan project and more of an indie but one of my favorite obscure/forgotten games I would like to see a review of in E.Y.E divine cybermancy
and now its 2020, quarantine and im playing project + in all of its glory
I'll never forget Sophmore and Junior year of Highschool. Every Tuesday we would always go down to the tech ed's computer lab and have Project M tournaments. Some of the best memories I've ever had of Highschool. Project M's legacy shall live on forever
I’d like to believe that Ultimate’s development team took inspiration from Project M
Not enough
Sakurai walks in "I made this"
Some other kid walks in from stage right "I made an add-on for this thing you made!"
Sakurai takes the other kid's thing and the kid leaves stage right
Now alone, Sakurai states "I made this"
@Rando can project M Snake fly around the map like an ultimate lifeform though?
shit man you make some quality content for such a small channel great work!
Ok one flaw with the video is that there ARE 100% true combos. DI and percent can not allways save you even if done optimally. Just a little note.
Examples:
Fox uthrow upsmash on spacies on various percents.
Falcon downthrow/upthrow knee on floaties around 80-90%
Marth weak uair to fsmash on basically anyone at mid-high percent.
Falco shine aerial on anyone at any percent (even 999%)
The list goes on forever. Can you DI?
"This may very well be the single biggest most extensive mod in video game history."
Ehh, I highly doubt that.
Project m is like the complete version of brawl and what brawl should have been.
I actually just recently downloaded Project +, which is a continuation of Project M. I’ve wanted to play Project M for years and being able to finally play it is so much fun, and it’s incredible how different it is
This video is a year old damn it's been a while since PM got the C&D
MonkaS
No worries man. Good content comes with time. :) I think you should do Custom Robo next for Gamecube
I still watch this from time to time. Bittersweet indeed
I love your video :) and I have to agree. PM is amazing.
Especially Samus (which was my main in melee) is soooo well done.
it is such a pity that this mod isn't featured on smash tournaments anymore.
I’ve never seen such a great review in my life. This video was truly a mircacle and yea project m is the best mod I’ve ever played it was so amazing
0:41 I Present to you...
Ok, i need help here guys. What's a positive repronounce of Capcom? (like how RabbidLuigi said Cashcom)
Now that ultamate exists, project m was forgotten
Not really. Project M just was on the bench while ultimate was the hot new game but after P+, ultimate went back to the bench and thought about its online system.
They're not legally required to stop anything.
Glad you liked project m! We did our best
Brian Rosner were u a PM dev?
@@suren123a mhm! I used to go by theytah.
Ryztiq are you guys still working on project M?
Really great video. I'm only realizing now that its 2 years old. Would love to see more content like this. I subbed in Hope's that you'll come back and make more great vids
Forgotten games seems to be a forgotten channel now.
It is because of this Video that I started making a playlist of the best videos of all time.
This game lives on through project plus. Im so happy that new people took the reigns and made something beautiful
fantastic video. not many other ways to put it
You deserve more attention
This is beautiful. Thank you.
I'm literally crying right now actually, PM means a lot to me and I'm overjoyed to hear your words of support for our community.
Also: ever thought of going to a tournament? this channel can take off thanks to this video and i'm sure people would love to see you at a tournament if that becomes the case.
stay classy :D +1 sub
I've definitely thought about attending one, even if only to get my butt kicked. I doing I would do very well, no matter what, but if my subscribers want to see me try, I will definitely go into it with good humor.
+Forgotten Games *doubt
It was amazing getting something ready and seeing it play on screen.
here after 4 years project plus baby
Never knew what project m was till now honestly think it’s amazing what has been done with the game
ganondorf still has his warlock punch but he uses his sword. hold the sword taunt button
Fast forward to project plus WHOOOOOP
I'm happy to see this in my recommended, I love project M
The two best smash games are Smash ultimate, and project M. Both for different reasons. I would take ultimate any day but I can see the appeal for project M for sure
"This might be the biggest, most extensive mod in videogame history."
*Laughs in Morrowind: Tamriel Rebuilt
BEST VIDEO FOR PROJECT M EVER!
Project M will never be forgotten.
This was an amazing review, getting project M legacy pretty soon once it's completely out so I can get it the game, it looks like a lot fun, I really would like to get into it. 💯💯👌
For me Project M is the best Smash game, without question. Highly accessible, highly fun in competition, and filled with content.
Yeah totally, getting a wii and a brawl iso, homebrew, and downloading the mod. Totally accessible lol.
The skins of PM are so cool! If Nintendo brings back the Smash Ballot but instead allows us to share skin ideas, that would be AMAZING
Project M is so amazing, definitely the best mod for SSBB!
I am making a SSB style fan game in Unity and I want to use SSBM/Project M's fast-paced gameplay, mechanics and more in my game but I need help!
Great video!
Ayy, was that Project Mango Lucario? Don't think I didn't see that! I love that skin!
Beyond Skyrim was also very audacious and is still being worked on to this day
So... you only have 98 subscribers... because.....?
(Actually, scratch that. 99, cause I'm subbing now)
The RUclips algorithm gods have not been kind to us yet.
thank you for leaving links dude that's helpful for people. you should try project leagacy it's even better
This guy deserves way more subscribers
Then came *Smash 2* ill never forget project m it paved way for smash 2 and various other mods
Project M will live on. Although the original version from the original dev team is dead. There are already new versions of it in BrawlVault that expand on the original and final 3.6 version
im pretty sure 99% of ppl who uses gannons B, uses it for float. He also has a sword now :
Thanks, we worked really hard on it. I'm really glad you liked it.
I honestly forgot Project M existed before I saw this
So what’s Ultimate then?
Great vid. Thank you
honestly project m is to brawl as ultimate is to smash 4
this is amazin, i play pm and melee competitively and this makes me feel good for playing a game as such
Oh, god. Tears man. I miss Project M development :(
Edit: The PMDT used such great music in their videos.
Amazing. LONG LIVE PROJECT M.
This is a really good video! I am a major fan of Project M, and this was very well written.
BTW, what is the music used in the video? I'm mainly looking for the music used during the Mechanics section that starts at 8:36 .
Could anyone share a download link for the homebrew wii version?
“Toad breaks free”
@13:40 is that Sao vs Accel World?
