You can't train a sociopath to not be a sociopath, all cops MUST have an extensive phycological work up to determine if they are mentally healthy enough to do the job correctly BEFORE they are trained. Otherwise we are just training dangerous people to be more dangerous and then giving them a gun and authority over the public.

Absolutely, she created this unit which was clearly a disaster. Poor training, no supervision, this type of unit does not fit In current standards. This unit is so out of touch from todays standards. She was fired from her Atlanta job; she should be fired for her lack of critical thinking for creating this mess. If she was so worried about violent crime, she should have initiated community policing in the highest crime areas. Police officers on bicycles and on foot, attending community meetings, bonding with the community. Instead she created an aggressive unit that stops everyone for any reason, conducts illegal searches, intimidates the community. Uses too much force during arrests. The city manager who hired her should be embarrassed. Didn’t they know about her termination as Atlanta Chief of Police. SMH

So each department / governments deals with things separately, the Sheriff just saw the video today. We also have suburban police departments within Shelby County . where this happened is actually the line of the county and city limits. One side of the street has lights the other side doesn’t . Delusional police believe they are bestowed God-given ultimate authority over man is the work of Satan and Narcissism, not Romans 13 or of God!.
Thousands of police officers every year are convicted of rape/other sex crimes, assault, domestic violence, murder, perjury, planting of drugs and evidence, etc... Police are as far removed from God and biblical teachings as the east is from the west!!

We may never know what would have happened without the family’s educated activism!

I fear that we are going to be seeing more and more police abuse of citizens because so many departments have had to lower their standards to attract police service applicants. We are going to be seeing more and more men and women who are wearing a police uniform, and carrying a gun who would not be eligible for this position under normal circumstances.
We are all these extreme danger, if these police are allowed to make questionable, traffic stops or are used as tax revenue in forcing agents. We need to put a halt to these traffic stops unless the situation is a serious felony. The combination of random traffic stops in unqualified police officers is a recipe for disaster.

I honestly don't yet know enough about what happened, what the suspect did or didn't do, and what the officers did or didn't do. BUT, I just wanted to comment on how unusual this is for a police department to move so swiftly against 5 of its own. In sharp contrast, there was a shooting in a crowded Costco in Corona near my home. For several years, the officer responsible was not charged with anything. He was placed on administrative leave, and nobody was allowed to view the video for about a year as I recall because the DA was worried about prejudicing witnesses or otherwise compromising the case. They wouldn't even comment on the case for the longest time (months!), citing (you guessed it) the "ongoing investigation." He was off-duty at the time and he killed one autistic (or at least, non-verbal emotionally disturbed) young man who allegedly pushed him, and nearly killed his parents as well. ALL except the off-duty police officer were completely unarmed, not threatening, and his parents were even begging for their lives. Didn't matter: the officer shot all of them, shooting his elderly parents in the back as they were trying to get away (they never threatened the officer, verbally or otherwise, at all). Seems to me this officer committed murder, and very clearly should never have shot these people. Neither the Riverside DA nor a grand jury filed any charges against the officer. The State Atty. General had to intervene and file charges, and this finally occurred just a few months ago, when the officer was finally charged. But to me, this is the rule, not the exception. Most officers who commit such crimes are never even fired, much less charged. THAT is a problem, and it is a huge problem: blue protects blue, and not infrequently, covers up for blue illegally too.
