      I often ask the same thing when people pay a plumber, electrician or carpenter an outrageous amount of money to fix their home when they could do the same for a fraction of the cost. See when you know what you are doing, it's easy to criticize those who maybe don't or are not comfortable in doing the work themselves. Building a PC is no different. We may be confident in building a PC, however there are many who are not.

      SZU Gaming that was a horrible example building a pc is much easier than all those thing a 8 year girl build a pc on this channel I believe. So people need to stop with the excuses if you don’t know how to build a pc it’s simply because you don’t put the effort into learning how to building one. I know what I’m talking about because I’ve been we’re all the noobs have been I just wanted to buy a prebuilt just because I was intimidated buy all the wires and pc parts I’ve never heard of in my life I was never a tech guy I even put buying a pc on hold for 2 years but one day something in my mind told me to keep trying and so I did I watch multiple tutorials on RUclips how to build A pc and kept watching videos and slowing I would understand I took it step by step and questions I still had after the video I used google to search the answers. For example I didn’t know how to wire the LED lights and power buttons so I would spend 1 hour looking up the answer and it wasn’t that hard I didn’t know where the hell I was supposed to get all the screws for everything well guess what all the screws comes with the case. I’m telling you once you do some research and see people build your gonna realize it’s honestly not that hard I was never that sharpest tool in the tool shed in fact I was on special ed all through elementary school. I’ve got friends with 16 year old and 15 year old Learned how to build a pc.

Stop believing everything you here and do it yourself. Plus I forgot to mention I have like 4 awesome red led fans.

      @AlexiconPrime 5 лет назад +29

      Some people just... don't want to risk it. They will watch the videos, they will do the research, but they still don't actually want to physically build a computer. As someone who does it as a hobby? I get it. Parts can be Doa, components can be not compatible even when said otherwise, and there will always be a niggling doubt in the back of your mind, 'did I build it right? If this component fails in a few weeks, is it my fault?' and some people just don't want that.
      some people also just don't want the time investment. It doesn't take long to build a PC but if you are unfamiliar it can take hours, between research and actual construction. Or you can pay extra (honestly not even that much extra) to have it prebuilt.
      It's not quite 'follow basic instructions, snap parts into place and use a screwdriver' even if sometimes it feels that way. I think pre-builts make sense even if I would never do it again.

    • @abolishguncontrollaws5689
      @abolishguncontrollaws5689 5 лет назад +4

      @@AlexiconPrime Nothing you typed is relevant except compatibility issues. Prebuilt systems can be DOA. More to go wrong in shipping. Prebuilts are for lazy incompetent individuals. They have to do research regardless. How else would they know what they're getting with a prebuilt or if it will meet their needs? It is snapping parts into place, running wires, hooking wires and using a screwdriver to assemble a computer. Unless you're doing a custom loop or using an AIO. Which the majority of newcomers aren't.

  • @deadpolymers3416
    @deadpolymers3416 6 лет назад +28

    Pre-builts make sense if you're building an entire rig from the ground up. However most builders are re-using their cases, PSUs, drives, etc in order to save money. A lot of builds are nothing more than MB, CPU, GPU and memory upgrades, while re-using anything else that doesn't need a replacement. With the inflated GPU prices, it's still a wash if you're re-using parts. But pre-builts are competitive for from scratch builds.

      I think the stigma behind pre-built PCs comes from the baseline models sold in stores like Walmart and BestBuy - cheaply built garbage with integrated graphics cards not made for gaming that overheat and die in less than 5 years. I say this from experience and would never recommend it to anyone. When I hear the term "pre-built" that is what comes to mind.
      I eventually learned to stop complaining about price and just save the money needed to build the system I want that can be made to play any game I wanted. Imo, the best PC is the one you learn to make yourself.

      Honestly just get a pre-built, the pricing is negligible or sometimes better on the pre-built when you take into account OS prices and it is a lot safer to just get one ready-made. Saves you the worry and the time spent learning about everything you need to build one yourself. Most people who say it's overpriced and worth building yourself are people who 1) enjoy it 2) already know how to do it and 3) probably built theirs before gpu prices went through the roof and changed the value of pre-builts compared to custom built PCs.

    I mean, as long as it's built correctly I don't really care. The only reason I'd make my own was if I was FULLY educated on everything there is, which currently I'm not, so a pre-built is fine for me.

    Honestly, I love prebuilt PCs! I feel like you get a higher quality of cable management and also a better cooling, because personally, and for everyone else whose like me outside, I am not always sure when it comes to details about how the air should flow and the little stuff that can make a difference. And eventually you top everything up with a warranty!

    • @cf5909
      @cf5909 6 лет назад +16

      But if you do a little bit of research and take your time, building your own PC is great! The best part is you control every single component that goes in so you know exactly what your getting. Trust me, its worth it.

    • @dnd6379
      @dnd6379 6 лет назад +7

      only thing about air cooling you need to know is that 1 fan needs to throw air in and one out, you only ever need 2 fans on the case. Front pulls air in and back throws air out.

    • @dnd6379
      @dnd6379 6 лет назад

      @Αλέξης Ανδρικόπουλος you don't need any experience, just watch a few youtube videos and you're good to go and make a pc. I haven't built a full pc in my life but I wouldn't have a problem building one. You just need to screw mobo into the case as well as hard drives or solid states, put ram in, cpu, cooler, gpu, plug connectors from power supply to each needed part and your good to go

      I am with you though. yeah its easier then ppl think to pre build. I think a lot don't know what to do and with that you don't realize what comes with what. like cables. I just prefer pre built though as you get a warranty, and well it should be working. you are getting it from what should be experts and they should verify it all works etc. then at least when warranty is out, you can then upgrade parts on your own. now for the most part, I look for basics though. like ram, hard drive etc. then buy more ram, hard drive etc as its usually cheaper then getting a system with those in it.

    I think a prebuilt using off the shelf parts is much different than a prebuilt that us older folks think of (Dell, HP, etc). This is basically just paying someone to put together the computer you want with the parts and brands you recognize. I still think of prebuilts as the old Dells with weird Chinese motherboards, proprietary power connectors and "OE" video cards.

    • @eaSTS9

    Recently got my first proper "gaming" laptop about a month ago now (happens to be what I'm typing this comment out on, lol), and honestly I'm pretty happy with what I got. Acer Nitro 5 with i5-9300H, GTX 1650, 8 GB of RAM, all for roughly $700 off Amazon.
    I was determined to go for a prebuilt cause I don't have the knowledge of how to assemble all the parts into a functioning PC, but I did my research on what desktops and laptops I found and compared the components with what I needed to run the games I wanted to play, and all in all I'd say I'm fairly happy with the end result.
    So in short, if you want to buy a prebuilt, it really depends on what games you're gonna play, how confident you are in possibly upgrading it down the line (hell I've considered installing an extra SSD on this laptop in the future, and probably an extra RAM too), and what you're budget is. But yeah, I'd recommend it so far.

    Here's what makes this "pre-built" thing work. First, you've taken the GPU pricing spectre out of the loop, bringing the price down to reality! Second, as, Jay mentioned, nothing in this "unit" is proprietary. Meaning you can get your hands in there without wondering if shit's gonna be compatible etc. Unlike the old days, you bought yourself a, Dell, or an, HP and wondered, "How up-gradable is this thing?" I personally have been on both sides of the fence on this topic. When I built my FX series rig, none of this shit was going on. "Pre-built" was a thing of the past. Until now.

I bought everything in a bundle on amazon and financed it for $100 a month. Besides I'd rather not fight the rabid single mother wanting that plush toy for her little girl who's sleeping at home that I wasn't even wanting in the first place. In any case, I am planning on saving up for a new pc. I can't do much with my current build as my motherboard can't support the Ryzen series. So might as well go all out and build a brand new pc instead of ripping out the cpu, ram, and mobo for new versions. Whoot! I am one of those people who is not necessarily confident that I can build a computer by myself without damaging something. So, I am looking around for a company/individual to take care of the whole build (of a PC for video editing), or someone to work with (i.e., supervise) me to build the PC.
    I would like to be better at this, and your videos have definitely increased my confidence in doing a 'solo build' , so thank you, Jay.

    I'd be careful with those AIO watercooling solutions. Mine leaked a couple of weeks ago and almost killed my GPU.
    I got lucky because I noticed it and acted quickly. I immediately unplugged the PC and ripped out my GPU. (scary shit)
    It didn't work for a while (3 days) but eventually it dried out and now I'm able to tell the tale.
    Lesson learned: never use watercooling in a work PC.

    I think you're right on par. I went with iBuyPower and got my computer made out for $2282 during the Memorial Day sale and two and a half weeks later the same exact system was $3800. Today with the power the pre-builders have with buying the parts enmass lots they are able to push great deals to the masses. With the also included incentives the companies can bring to bare onto the market it makes getting a good high end pc affordable and easy. And the professional build, optional OC, and burn-in processes and sending you a complete startup out of the box and play in less then an hour after you unbox is awesome for the price. The warranty also makes it a lot less scary and IMHO better then self made rigs.

    To be fair, PUBG just got a huge update (9.1GB) where it's more optimized then when the benchmarks were recorded for the hardware. So, everyone should see an FPS increase. I hope NZXT sees this and updates their BLD database based on the new PUBG update.

Asked a request to get my rewards back that were lost, and after 3 months they answered with poor grammar that it was claimed, that's it. Did not even bother to answer why they can not help me. But what do you mean with comparing? There's very few performance flaws in fortnite, nothing is perfect. People play PUBG due to mostly the shooting mechanics that are better/worse depending on the side you're on.

    That fedex guy throwing the computer monitor over the fence... I owned the same computer monitor, it was one of the first 120hz monitors available, and boy did it have quality control issues considering the massive price tag it came with at the time. Well it wasn't even quality control, it was more "This time is fundamentally flawed," because of the way they mounted the panel, a screw was right underneath the right side of the screen. This caused literal distortion and disgusting light bleed. Wanted to fix it? Good luck, most of it was glued together... So getting it back together was impossible (I had already upgraded, I was just seeing if I could fix the issue, but I couldn't since it broke apart like cheap mcdonalds plastic).
    Yeah, fuck Samsung TVs/Monitors. They really have dropped the ball on TVs/Monitors for quite a while now. QLED being their biggest blunder so far. However if they could feasibly get microleds into the mainstream, they would transcend every panel technology currently available by magnitudes. Microled tech = OLED, but with none of the issues, nanosecond response times, much brighter, higher pixel count potential (much much much much much much much much higher). Oh and theoretically it could reach over 5000hz+ where the human eye literally wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an image on the screen, and something IRL. Microled would also allow for MUCH higher color depth.

I’ve heard they are very simple and very easy!! But for your first pc I would get a pre built, and cyberpower is one of the best companies to get one from.. when you get one I would make sure to get a intel i7 processor, and either a GeForce gtx 1060 graphics card, or a 1070 based on what your budget is, if you can’t afford that then get a 1050ti, cause that’s what I have and it’s very nice.. also I would make sure to have atleast 8gb of ram! You can always use a service like myus.com. It provides you with a 'virtual' US address (and answered or forwarded phonenumber). The address is bassically a storage box number and when all goods are delivered to your US address, you can send it with various carriers like UPS or DHL to your own real address..
      I'm using myus for about 10 years now and usually sent things to Europa about about each quarter (additional paid option). So you can order your system from NZXT, order some additional components from NewEgg, Target and some Ebay junk and once it is all delivery, you forward it home and you only pay a single shipping fee outside the US if you use the premium service..

    To be honest, I think they are worth it depending on where you get them from and what kind of deal you get. I built a computer with a 1080, 16GB ddr4, and i7 7700k that I had them overclock, an AIO, RGB. The works. It came with a mouse and keyboard, which I didn't even need because I already have. That whole build cost me $900 less than it would have if I wanted to build it myself at the time. That's the only reason I even considered it, because I've been building my own PCS for 7 years, but I'm not above saving almost a thousand bucks if it's going to be the same.

    I replaced my old graphics card with a new one for the first time in my life. I was shaking the whole time plus I'm super sick right now but I'm so afraid of breaking something even though I really want to build a pc. I bought this pc in 2015, pre-built, and I hate my case. I now know my motherboard is old and my CPU is almost not usable when it come to new games, or so says my radeon software. My CPU is a FX 8320 and my mother board is a MSI 990FXA (so its listed on my parts list) and I chose one the most difficult cases I've ever seen and the case has a foam filter in the front that's really hurting my airflow and seems impossible to remove. So it's almost time for me replace all of that and I'm super scared (not that I have the money for that right now..)
    Love your videos, I learn so much from you and wish I was there learning from you in person. I love computers and have always been the electronics guy in the family but we've never had alot of money. Still I've been very blessed to have what I have and my pc is still kicking and I've only had to replace flans. I got a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 570 8gb for christmas and replaced my old Color Master R9 280 with it and it worked first try, thanks to you, lol. But next is to get more ram, save up for the other stuff, and hopefully build a pc that will keep up with games for several more years, I hope. I bet if you saw my pc you would have a heart attack. The cables are a mess, I have a fan controller that does nothing for me except shows temps of my pc parts, and DVD/CD drive that I dont need in todays computer world. Wish I could show you this thing.
    Thanks again J, love your videos and keep being awsome. Your very helpful.
