I once misplaced my nice Noctua case badge; it's metal and it looked really good with my build, so I wanted to use it. I sent an email to Noctua not really expecting anything to come of it. A friendly human got back to me and sent over a Noctua swag box with post-it notes, a new case badge and even a little Noctua fan keychain. That is how you build an enthusiast brand.
I'd never really seen their logo before looking it up just now, but it actually does look really nice.
thats awsome
The Noctua case badge is the only one I've ever actually put on my case, just because it is made of metal and really nice quality. Unlike the cheap stickers that you get with everything else.

After watching Gamer's Nexus' video about Newegg, I feel this sort of content is more relevant than ever.

Would be good to have these periodic brand reviews. Even if it's annually. Keeps us informed, and companies on their toes.
Gamers Nexus keeps companies on their toes. I mean... NewEgg, Gigabyte... Ouch.

Exactly, landscape changes so much
I aggressively agree !
Remember: no corporation cares about you in the end, they just care about money. Their actions tell if they are on the market for the quick money grap or long term money farming.
But in the end, you need to vote with your money.
That's all companies.
A wild Libertarian appeared
Ironically most people don't care about each other, and they're only have no obligation beyond of business.
That's simply not true, even if sometimes it feels like it. I've worked for companies that have been able to make alterations which would improve their bottom line at the cost of the consumer but elected not to do it because it was morally wrong.
There are definitely a lot of companies that care ONLY about their bottom line, and typically publicly traded ones are more cutthroat, but saying 'no corporation cares' is demonstrably false. Find the ones that do care and stick with them if you can.
@@A1BASE Sadly, most people doesn't see what is actually a better business anymore.
I'd like to nominate Fractal Design and Noctua onto that list of good companies. I've enjoyed their products and their support have been prenominal.
NZXT and Fractal both had bad PCBs that could catch on fire in their cases.
NZXT handled it poorly and is now widely considered to be a bunch of clowns.
Fractal handled it so well that they're even more well respected than ever.
Fractal definitely deserves to be on the good list.
100% agreed
I actually miss my old fractal case. If they didn’t just stick to the generic box (and not have lackluster itx designs) I would definitely switch to them.
I have the fractal design 360 radiator had it for about 3 years and still working as intended with a push and pull flow
I’m quite glad I chose Fractal and Noctua for the PC builds I did last year.

I'll add another vote for EVGA for stellar support.
When I upgraded to my 10700k and 3070, I had lost my extra PSU cables in the middle of a move I would need to power them. I sent them an email and their support team called me for more info. Turned out my PSU had been discontinued, but it was still a fabulous PSU (750w Gold modular PSU) so they didn't have any on the shelves. The person that called me then went back into their warehouse and looked through the RMAs to find the PSU model I had, and shipped me all the extra cables for it for free!
I was blown away with the customer service and can honestly say I will always buy EVGA whenever I can moving forward.
Glad to hear that as someone who just ordered a 3070ti, PSU and mouse from them yesterday in their DIY bundle
These are the kinds of comments that are making me consider trying EVGA. I've never had anything from them before.
EVGA has RMA'd three GPUs since I switched to them during the 980ti days. They even RMAd a previously RMAd GPU I bought from ebay. Just purchased a 3080ti and I specifically bought EVGA again because of their great support.
I've had 2 EVGA products (PSU+GPU). The PSU had an issue that was promptly resolved. The GPU hasn't failed me yet (years later). Simply from the interaction of Customer Support, I am going with EVGA for most of my PC hardware (if not all). As Jay said, it's how you handle your mistakes that makes or breaks you, and EVGA thus far imo has handled their F-ups with aplomb and a sincere desire to make things right.
@@crnlive5096 yup, for my first and only build I made sure to get the most evga I could. So I got a 2080 and a 750w gold psu. I have a hero mobo, I just made sure to get good brands honestly and I’ve had yet to had an issue with my pc

@@bradleymckinney6825 comment is probably referring to Gamers Nexus latest video.
EVGA has been one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. Years ago I bought a used 1080ti on ebay and it turned out to be trashed. I called up EVGA fully expecting them to tell me to kick rocks and I wouldn't have blamed them. But to my surprise they were extremely polite and warrantied the card for me even though they didn't have to. I respect that and I have bought thousands of dollars of products from them since that time because I trust them to do the right thing if I ever have an issue again and will continue to use their products. Just my positive experience.
And I bet you will buy evga again because of that. Not sure why companies don't understand that.. make a bit now or alot over a long period of time.
Agreed. My GFX card failed and I got it RMA'd , got my new one quickly, very easy process and great customer support.
@@Ryan-re1rs You are 100% correct. I currently have an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra along with an EVGA 850w power supply.
I’ve been really pleased with EVGA, I’ve owned two graphic cards from them a 2080Ti and the one I own now, an RTX 3090 as well as 4 PSUs. My 1600T2 PSU had a capacitor blow a month after purchase and they sent a new one out right away, no issues at all.
I'd agree with that. I don't really buy evga products often because I've had so many problems with them, and it got tiring dealing with CS and warranties and things. But I have to admit, they are probably the most responsive company (tech or otherwise) that I've dealt with. Even on the off chance that they won't warranty something, they'll just tell you that usually. Some companies will run you around for a month, and then disappear without any contact until you harass them enough. So even though I've had more bad products from them than I have good, I have to respect the customer service side of things.
And I'm not even really faulting them for my bad luck with their products. With as much as they sell, some customer is going to be the unlucky one who ends up with all the failed units. It happens, it just comes with the territory. At least they'll respond to customer requests, unlike some companies... Looking at you, MSI.
Jay I think I’m speaking for all of us. We massively appreciate your work and bringing this content to light in particular. Asus, Noctua, EVGA, Seagate, Samsung, and Corsair have always been companies I have used and haven't let me down yet. I haven't had too many bad experiences, at least none that are memory worthy.
Samsung was involved in the DRAM price fixing scheme along with Micron and SK Hynix. Didn't really affect me when it happened but for people who were affected I'm sure it sucked. Just goes to show no company is clean. I do love their products though. Got a 960 Evo nvme ssd in my computer.

I had a great experience with Corsair. I have a 4000D case and the glass panel shattered when I popped it off. It didn’t fall or impact anything. I went to the site to just buy a replacement but they were out of stock so I chatted with support and they logged a support ticket. About a week later they asked for a mailing address - then a few days later a new panel showed up. I simply wanted to buy the replacement but they decided to send me one which i appreciate.
Same thing happened to me with Fractal Design. I broke the glass panel and I took full responsibility when I contacted them. They simply sent another one and threw in the thumbscrews as well.
same with Corsair for me, bought some LPX memory was running 16 so upgraded to 32, was causing my pc to crash (the LPX serires the memory was had bad chips) they kindly upgraded them to the pro series but had to pay a little bit which i didnt mind as it was a bargin.
I love Corsair's internal components and cases but all the peripherals I've bought have stopped working within in a month or two.
@@nephalos666 what have they done that's political? Genuinely curious.
I have that same case with a 750W corsair power supply. I have been extremely happy with it all!
The brand that I will probably always buy from when I need a new CPU cooler is Noctua. Not only are their products at the top of the game in air cooling, but their customer service is excellent. I bought an NH-D14 in 2014 for my 4790k and I had that until 2019 when I changed to Ryzen. All I had to do was show proof of purchase of an AM4 product and they shipped me a kit for free. Even now if I switch to Alder Lake (or Raptor Lake in the future) they would do the same. That's what I call customer service.
The only time I’ve ever used Noctua’s support, I had a fan spontaneously have a blade break off (it was a front intake fan and just boom), they like 2-day airmailed a replacement from Germany. I haven’t used a non-Noctua fan since.
Probably one brand i have 0 interest in. Fans are cheap to buy and cheap to replace, no way am i paying their prices. Maybe soundwhores find it worthwhile but not me. Also shit brown and black are the only color options and i have a white build. And there are coolers that offer 95% the performance for under 50% the price.
Honestly, Noctua products have been so good that i've just bought quite the variety of fans from them just to give my support to them, i've had S12A U.L.N.A's, NF-A20s, NF-A12s, the new NF-A12s and PPCs, as well as multiple different CPU coolers, weirdly enough i have yet to buy a NH-D15 which is weird since i did buy Cryorig R1 and threw Noctua fans on it, as well as a Dark Rock Pro 4 but didn't throw Noctuas onto that though.
@@eclipsegst9419 You shouldn't knock a brand till you've tried them. I haven't but I know they are quiet and very good at cooling... there's no other brand I heard of that has the performance they do with the level of sound they produce. I'm not saying that there's no other brand can get beat them but you pay for what you get.
@@AznMikey But, in the last 20 years, I've seen 1 PC fan fail. 1. It was a no-name 80mm in the back of a 10 year old Gateway that had never once been cleaned. So, I can't see why I would want to spend extra on them. Aside from the one on the cooler, that money is basically better off going to storage or something else imho.
This has not aged well, specially for ASUS.
Brands you can trust in mid 2023: None.
Brands you MUST avoid in mid 2023: PNY, ASUS, Gigabyte, NZXT.
I had an EVGA 1070 die after about 10 hours of use. The return and replacement were simple and straightforward. The replacement item is still running fine now.
EVGA rocks with their customer service.
Evga is amazing. Last February I got selected for a 3070 xc3 ultra card. I missed the email deadline by an hour cause I was at work.. emailed them back, explained they sent me a new link n got my card! Love them!!!
EVGA has always been good with RMA.
Thats how it goes for most people with most companies.
EVGA told me it was normal for my psu to make an arcing sound when turning it on followed by buzzing. No more evga for me.
Fractal Design is an example of how to do things right. I have two systems in their chassis’s and how they handled the recent situation with the shorting fan controller is A+.
Yeah definitely agree on Fractal, I had a side panel issue that I discussed with them and ended up fixing myself based off of their advice (Meshify C, mounting point failed) but they were quick to respond and sent me a new panel anyway.
Noctua is also a brand that I absolutely trust for my and my relatives purchases. After 10 years, they sent me a brand new mounting kit and it took 2 days to arrive, with new paste tube, new fan vibration pads (apparently it was an issue with the fan of the said cooler) and a super cool message (probably mass printed but still).
I have yet to send a product back for warranty. Top quality, top short and long term service.
Thanks for this vid. Another conversation about "what vendors can you trust?" would be really helpful as well.
As it stands, newegg has been acting reaaaaaallly shady over the last year, and thanks to lax vendor standards and enforcement, Amazon is slowly morphing into Wish 2.0 (now with better graphical design!)
The only problem I have had with amazon is the delivery drivers. Send a photo of my package at my door, wrong house. They told me to ask my neighbors if they recognized the plain white door in the picture. message order delivered. Been in the front yard landscaping since sun up. no it wasn't. Watched a driver through the window drop my package and leave it in the road. One driver with a heavy package put a sorry we missed you sticker on my OPEN front door when I was sitting right next to it! Then ran back towards his truck! 80LB border collie and red head wife in full "mom mode" holding a broom, met him at the gate. More head down, sorry mams and yes mams than I have herd in a life time. Kid vowed to do his job better from now on.
I learned to never buy from Newegg... I tried to upgrade my desktop 2 months before Covid hit and went through 3 motherboards which all came DoA... I had to return everything and go back to the drawing board.
God I miss Tigerdirect
I'm pretty loyal to ASUS and have very rarely had an issue with their products, but their tech support dept is kind of crap. After refurbishing my GTX 1060 and getting as much use out of it as I can, I just asked a chat agent what thickness the thermal pads needed to be, and they basically said that info was "confidential" (aka they deleted it out of their system and aren't telling anyone). I feel like they do this just for the sake of selling more cards once the old ones begin to cycle out of the market. It's a pretty trivial thing I know, but the fact they won't release minor details like this is very indicative of their marketing strategies. Customers keep using old cards, they lose money.
ASUS driver support has been pretty great for years and years. That's a plus. I haven't had to use their customer service as I haven't had an issue but thanks for the info.
🤡
Also their BIOS has audio issues.
Im not sure if this aged like milk or wine

if they would've owned up to their mistakes it would've been okay, but blaming testers and users for their PSU catching fire because "you use it wrong" by trying to trigger the OPP(overpower protection).
basically the product caught fire instead of switching off when it got power surges (this happened on 50% of the tested psu's). basically if you have dirty electricity, which isn't super uncommon, it's just a question of time before your computer is destroyed.
this was even destroying other computer components in the process some times(gamer nexus lost a 3080). not to mention something like 20% of them didn't even work to begin with
then there's the ransomware scandal where everyone who sent their product to be fixed couldn't get them back, also leaking intel and AMD voulnerability data in the process.
TL;DR gigabyte REALLY bad
ive used asus for my last 7 builds or so. im very pleased with their products. if i had one of those boards and they agreed to buy it back, that would have made me happy
My go-to brands:
- EVGA for GPUs
- Gigabyte or Asus motherboards
- Noctua for fans
- Logitech for peripherals
- Coolermaster or Corsair for cases
- Samsung for SSDs
After my G213 headsets fell apart and my G413 got a chattering issue, I have crossed out Logitech for peripherals.
G512 is still working fine tho.
- Logitech for peripherals
unless its their headsets
Gigabyte is a great choice for motherboards.

I've owned EVGA cards since the 200 series. I had the 1080 FTW, and they were SO quick at replacing it. (Fun fact, mine has a burnt vrm, and it still worked? when I got my thermal pads I saw the chip all burnt) I never noticed it dying. EVGA has always done right by me.
In the past I had these experiences:
- Asus, perfect. Never had any issues, never had to contact their support.
- MSI, had some issues with MBs, minor things, but their support was not very informative.
- Logitech, perfect, just perfect on everything,
- bequiet!, beyond perfect on everything,
- Razer, had many issues with their products but they had really good customer support at least,
- Corsair, quality products, very good direct support,
- Steelseries, just stay away, they are scammers.
Razer can f right off if you ask me. We've had three of their mice in this household, all three started failing just outside of warranty. You could argue we just don't handle our mice well, but other brands seem to last. I also doubt we just got THAT unlucky. I have to admit I did not contact customer support because I knew the warranties had already expired, but still, good customer support does not offset bad build quality. I'd rather have good build quality and bad customer support, since that way, I don't need their customer support at all. They also don't have that good customer support because they are nice, they NEED it to maintain their image so they can keep charging top dollar. They are basically just alienware for peripherals.
Agreed asus mobos are totally solid its all i run personally. Evga i also love along with what jay said about them.
Can’t agree with the asus motherboard as I’ve had two with problems and a few annoyances for their products but yeah steelseries I’m slowly being pushed away from them so I can’t recommend them
Asus just sucks big time. Hardware is great and looks cool but software is one of the most user unfriendly products I have ever to cope with. Steelseries just sells crap with crappy customer support. Same goes for Logitech. Corsair is my brand of choice. Design is not as cool as other brands sometimes and Corsair products are expansive but their stuff just works for more than 99% of time and iCUE is by far the best support software I ever used. Works perfectly with every hardware, fails only 0.01# of time and never produces any issues with the OS. Arctic makes great AIOs. And bequiet! has expensive but awesome products. Had a bequiet! PSU and that thing never failed for over five years. Had to sell it because it refused to break 😄
@@JT-xu1qd Agree I will never buy another Razer mouse. I've had a Corsair mouse for a little while and cannot be happier.
ASUS has continued to do good by me for years. GigaByte lost me years ago when my QVL-compatible processor was deemed (by them) incompatible & unsupported with the motherboard after a year of problems. Funny that this still seems to track today for these two companies.
I bought an Asus product about a year ago; first one in something like 15 years, and so far so good. :)
I had stayed away because literally every Asus product my family and myself had, failed shortly after warranty (5-6 items all up).
On the otherhand, I use to love Gigabyte - not so much these days. I will avoid for a while longer I think.
My first 2 builds were EVGA, second 2 were Asus, 5th was MSI and now I'm back to EVGA. I've never had any failures with any EVGA or Asus, but my MSI was always having issues. Video card was replaced 3 times due to failures, and motherboard had a capacitor pop. EVGA is my first choice and Asus is my quick second!
@@dmd58 Once I started following tech RUclipsrs like Jay, Linus, Gamers' Nexus, etc., I was surprised at how many people were having trouble with MSI. I just happened to be lucky and almost never buy one of their products. Replacing a failed video card that often must have been really aggravating!
@@trentonbennettVO Same experience here, I bought the B560 Torpedo motherboard and it has been great so far. My gigabyte motherboard doesn’t allow my PC to sleep without hard crashing after 3 years of use, I will not be buying from them again.

Newegg, NEVER AGAIN
Similar terrible experience with Newegg here. Just going to stick with my local computer shops~~
I agree Newegg is far the company it once was. I'll take a 3hour and 15 minute trip to Micro Center before ordering from them. This is sad I've ordered from Newegg for 20 years but no longer.
I was under the impression PSUs were supposed to take one for the internal components.
Can you gives us more background? What kind of load it was taking, how long was it in service?
Not that I would vouch for anything but Seasonic.
In India, at the start of COVID situation where everybody was told to work from home, there was a huge demand in laptops. So HP which is a respected brand started shipping their faulty laptops which had issues like speakers and webcams and then when people complained about their products they asked them to take the laptops to their service centers which were 2-3 hour drive away and gave them very inconvenient timings so they can avoid getting products RMA'd
As an older guy, who's had the advantage of many decades to watch the ebb and flow of various different tech companies...I think this is right on point. RMA's don't go well for everyone, no matter what the brand. But I think you pretty much nailed the ones that should be mentioned, either positive or negative.

I've always gone with Corsair for RAM, Cases, AIO's and Power supplies. I don't internationally set out to grab their products but I always tend to fall back on them because I know the quality will be good at worst, and a lot of their stuff just looks really good too.
Funny I bought Corsair vengeance pro ram and had it fail..both sticks. Bought three sets of G.Skill and didn't have any problems.
Before that I bought an HS50 headset and that was very uncomfortable after a few hours.
Not saying I won't buy Corsair, but the only food experience I've had so far is their mousepad.
And that's starting to fray a bit (though Ive had it a while, so doesn't really factor in)
Edit: meant good, but food works.
im really having a hard time with corsair to be honest as much as some of their products are awesome others are just awful. it feels to me like everything mechanical in nature like fans and cases just suck (or is just had bad luck everytime) whereas their electronic product are generally pretty good. i almost always buy corsair ram and sometimes psu although i prefere seasonic lately. i had many fans fail or become very noisy over the years and the last 2 cases i bought from them where so low quality that they landed in the garbage after a few short months.
I still remember the first Gpu i bought with my own money was an Evga 8800GTX, it broke after a year or so. Evga sent me a brand new one after a week along with a sorry/thank you letter, something that no other company has ever done to this day.
That was back when cards looked cool too. I had a 7800. Agp ftw
EVGA is a company that has earned a lot of goodwill from me especially in the GPU department given that they didn't jack prices at every given opportunity and seem to have their high end models priced similarly to or lower than other AIB lower end models of the same gpu classes. I currently have the 2070 super black and I love it. Also a fan of asus for their motherboards and laptops. Probably will be hesitant to buy from gigabyte or MSI due to some if their recent shady behavior though. And I just don't trust amd or nvidia to be consumer friendly in the near future due to how they conducted themselves with the shortages and crypto boom, plus AMD jacking prices on cpus as soon as they have a slight lead didn't sit well with me either. Actually really appreciate Intel not doing that with the 12 gen.
I almost forgot about the whole new world blowing up 3090's thing. You know what I remember now I think back to it? EVGA actually owned their mistake, apologized, and took care of their customers, unlike [insert any of Steve's crusade subjects]. We all mess up every now and then, what's more important is how you make things right again.
Edit: was reading comments while jay was talking in the back ground, he basically recalled the whole deal pretty much after I typed it up XD
Well, I won't be able to check out how good they are for myself anytime soon. Their fabled GPU waiting queue has been locked since... what... November? Don't get me wrong, I keep hearing good things about the whole process, but that's kinda not really helpful if there's no way for me to get **in**
@@nahco3994 oh, that was an absolute mess in practice. I've been in the queue since October 2020. Kinda gave up on this generation of gpus.
I like corsair for cases, nzxt is the worst
Corsair is my go to for memory while crucial is my permanent avoid.
Corsair or evga for power supplies. Never gigabyte.
Msi for motherboards, wouldn't buy anything else from them because of the scalping thing but goddammit my x470 has been a champ only avoid is gigabyte.
Been an amd boy since I got my first system with an Athlon and windows me so only amd ryzen 7 processors for me on my desktops, but laptops I'll go with i7 if it's a sick deal.
Laptops my go to is acer, asus, Lenovo, or Toshiba I always avoid dell(alienware) and hp.
I prefer Samsung Evo ssds, but I have had a couple SanDisk that were nice too. For pci I go samsung, but sata would probably just go western digital, high quality and cheap.
For a mouse it's a razer naga all day every day.
I dont have a specific headset I prefer though right now I'm rocking corsair virtuoso, but I will not have a steel series anything. They got bloatware issues that causes everything yo go screwy. Razer does too, but It is still worth the mouse.
For gpu an amd card I prefer sapphire or amd. Nvidia card asus or founders edition. Never msi or gigabyte or that new red one I keep seeing.
Corsair makes a good keyboard I'd avoid a steel series just because of the ssgg engine that fucks all your other peripherals.
I have had excellent luck out of LG monitors. Nice integrated crosshairs that aren't detected by anticipation. Relatively cheap. Asus are a second. I'd never buy an msi.
Well I could probably go on but nobody is going to read this anyways

Love this. It’s really great to get your impression of the current state of things. I’ve been very happy with my Strix motherboard, great Asus experience.
I was a little surprised by the slight dig at other creators at 13:30, testing and investigative content is crucial to keeping companies honest long term. And weeding out the crap short term.
Of course I love the atmosphere you, Phil, and Nick create. It’s buoying and often lifts me out of the crap often found on social media. Please keep it up.
I don't understand why he said that. Don't talk about it, be about it. I applaud the content creators who search for the negatives in things and talk about them. It makes me feel like they are being more honest considering that sometimes the companies gave them that product for free and yet they're not going to praise it to the moon just because of that. And I can't even think of who he'd be talking about... I watch a fair number of PC related content creators and no one stands out to me as mostly negative.
Based on the surrounding conversation it sounded like he was referring to Gamers Nexus and the other team that worked on those two issues with them. But I was always under the impression he was friends with Steve, so I’m probably miss construing his sentiment.
Just looking forward to content from all good sources.
Thermaltake has been on my personal blacklist for almost 20 years from when I started in PC gaming. I got a PSU from them, died RIGHT after the warranty ended. Like literally at 13 months. They refused to fix it even out of warranty. Stopped trusting PSUs from them. A few years later I decided to try a simple USB HDD dock. Dead after a few months. Replaced, dead again after a few months. If memory serves this was in the infancy of USB 3. So perhaps those controller chips were dicey because of that. But ever since, I've had it with that brand. In my eyes, they just make shoddy products.
On the flip side, EVGA and Asus have been my go tos for GPUs and Mobos respectively. EVGAs support has always been fantastic. Only ever had to RMA something with ASUS once after I discovered a simply dicey looking solder joint. They were happy to replace it. Their RMA system interface was kinda horrible at the time as far as tracking the board as it went back, and my replacement. But it did go smoothly and this was like 10 years ago so maybe its been updated since. The bigger takeway, is aside from that one time over about a 10-20 year span, I've never had to interact with support since.
Tt started out making terrible cooling products and not much has changed.
had one too diying after not much use and killing my videocard with it
In 20 years of PC Building I've only had 1 successful Thermaltake product it is a mini ITX case . Agree 1000 percent on EVGA they my go to for NVidia cards in the time of using their cards I've had 1 issue and they were fantastic to work with getting a replacement card.
Screw Thermalfake. They started out making poor quality knockoffs of good parts, and not much has changed.
Funny, my Thermaltake CPU cooler is still going after ten years, and the temps have always been between 30 and 65. My dad has the same cooler and a Thermaltake PSU, both have been working flawlessly for more than eight years now. Still, wouldn't buy their products in 2022.
Corsair is a brand I've always loved, the only time I've really had a problem was with a dead pump on a H100i after like 8months and they were really fast at rectifying that. And now since they also own Elgato I have even more things by them that I love and want :D
same. my h100 has been running on the highest pump mode for 10 years and has never given an issue. maybe that's a testament to acetek but who knows.
Agreed ! I live in Pakistan & bought the ML120 RGB Pro fans (3 pack). About 5 months later the RGB gave out on one of the fans then started flickering on another. I made a video & sent it to Corsair. They sent me a FEDEX shipping label. I sent them the fans & received a brand new (sealed) box straight from their HQ. It cost me nothing. I will never forget that.
You know, there are quite a few AIO companies that have stepped into the AIO arena. Tops being Corsair and NZXT. I'm proud to say I think their products look kewel and all. But you know; instead coats of many colors and an arsenal of blinkers and figmentations of our imaginations. I would think 85% of us agree, we'd love to see an AIO that when you drop $300 on it, it actually produces levels of closer to 20C idle and 35C load. They've been beating us for years on these AIO's that really are equal in cooling to a simple heatsink fan combination... Same ole 33C idle and 56C under normal load. Only thing that changes with them for the $200 rise in pricing is: lights and motherboard socket mounting.....
Hold the lights and give me better cooling for my $300...
Just got done with my first build with mainly corsair parts. Loving it so far but time will tell on how long they last.
Agreed, I had an AX1200 PSU die after 5.5 years. Sent it for RMA, 5 days later I had a brand new AX1200i arrive with a complimentary mouse pad as an apology gift. The kind of service you expect when buying a companies top tier product.
I love it how JAyz cues us as to treat this as "podcast - background" or "you need to pay attention/look at" piece video
My economy teacher in 11th grade used to say: "The best way to punish a company is to not buy from them"
My Eco teacher said the best way is to open a competitor, steal all their customers, bury them and buy them for pennies on the dollar and shit in the CEO's mouth as you kick him out the door. He was also the football coach.
The only brand I am on the fence about is NZXT. Early 2010's NZXT was very helpful, and they had great people in their customer service department. Nowadays, things are alot different there, and I'm unsure of their trust.
Nzxt is a great company with great products. They're psu's are amazing and they're aio's are great. Even their mother boards are great. But the innovation on their cases is like at a standstill. The cases are fine and all but compared to other companies such as coolermaster and corsair they are falling behind because of airflow. The case is functional and it works but it should be working better.
I'm very sure of their trust. Or rather, their lack thereof. Steve/GamersNexus's series on the H1 fire hazard took care of that. NZXT didn't want to fix it, then they wanted to send nylon screws instead of fixing it, then they had to get forced to do a proper recall because GN sold them out to the government, then NZXT sent GN a replacement cable that was good, and finally started sending normal customers _a different cable_ than the one they used GN to promote. And during some of that they had some absolutely garbage PR statements they put out, too.
F*** NXZT, they are dead to me.
NZXT customer service is shocking! I was straight out called a liar without anyone checking the issues/product. I will never buy NZXT again.
I utilize their case. And AiO’s.That is all. Been absolutely reliable for 4+years now
I don't know, my personal experience with a H200i is not that great. It was my first and last NZXT case. I love their design, the H1 was love at first sight but... They just run too hot INTENTIONALLY :'(
I'm always a function over form, so yeah, it's beautiful but if gets my system to thermal throttle I don't like it.
And that is not even talking about their problems with the H1... Just my own personal experience.
Hope SeaSonic made it for PSU’s. They’re the epitome (or has been for me) theee company of do one thing and do it to the max! I’ve never had an issue with any of their units even back when they didn’t jump on the huge wattage bandwagon. Their units always delivered well and punched way above the belt on their load ratings.
I’ve done some stupid things that I shouldn’t have and their unit had pulled through….. though I def only kept it temporary running TRI-SLI back then until I could get the proper unit to pull the load within spec.
Seaonic are great. never had an issue. I will never buy an msi board again. That bitch fried everything in my computer. CPU, ram, wifi card, and drives. I just managed to get intel to send me another cpu, they were pretty nice. I am sure if I did not have a seasonic, it would have been worst.
@@hervegeorges Are you sure you didn't shortcircuited the motherboard?
I see lots of pro-Asus comments, but I've had nothing but trouble from them.
Back in the day my Z87 board died, and I sent it into them. Got the board back broken in a different way. Sent it in a second time, got it back still broken. Asked them to replace the board if it wasn't fixable, having now been running on an old Core 2 system for over two months and two "fixes" and was told to send it back in at my own expense and they'd attempt another fix but would not authorize a replacement.
High-end router died *just* outside of warranty. Absolutely dead as a doornail. Tried to sell me a repair service at higher than the router's street price.
Later bought another high-end router that was DoA, retailer replaced it with another one that was ALSO DoA, at which point I gave up and went with another brand.
Bought two Asustor (their NAS product subsidiary) 2.5g network adapters, one of which was DoA.
Noctua is good in my book. Bought a cooler, put it on a Socket 775 system, moved it to an 1150, then moved it to an AM4. Totally could have left it behind, and didn't.
That's the biggest point to me - how a company handles their failings / their customer service is what keeps me and is what I look for in a brand. EVGA notoriously doesn't have the best GPUs but they repeatedly show that they care with their customer support. Every single generation they put out solid products that, whilst they aren't always the absolute best value / best product of that generation, always have this stellar, reliable customer service that is like a strong spine to their brand. We can forgive failures, we can't forgive bullshit like Steve's recent Newegg video - because that was total bullshit.
I only buy EVGA gpu's, purely for the warranty
Yeah kind of the same it's not as good as it used to be.. I still remember having my mind blown at how awesome their cross stripping was back in the day a few years ago, now it's well it's not the same but.. at the very least they do the bare minimum, it's more than I can say for gigabyte.. then it's definitely more than I can say for MSI, speaking of not the best quality.. people think of them as a high-end brand now cuz they sell themselves that way, but I've had more MSI products flounder on me than any other, and their service is disgusting.
I will also only buy EVGA GPU's. They are great to deal with when you have a issue 99% of the time.
The kingpin and ftw3 are arguably the best in the market though (accounting past generations). Not the most aesthetic but have huge headroom for overclocking.
i cant speak highly enough of both EVGA's and Asus's support. I have had to do a RMA with both and the service was stellar. If I have an option, I always go with one of the two.
In Australia Asus is possibly the worst support of all time and it's known. I guess it depends where you live
Fractal with the tot tent issue. Very good response and would feel confident in using them in the future
Commodore. Although I've had trouble seeing new products in the shops for a few years.
Something that wasn't mentioned was brands at different price points within their range, Coolermaster jumps to mind, their higher priced cases are great but there's a definite point where it seems they slide into crap being sold off the brand's name.
I have had really good experiences with EVGA in the short time I’ve been in this hobby. I bought a power supply from a third party, it failed after a week, and then I noticed that the “warranty void if removed” sticker had been torn off. It was clear someone had opened the psu up. I contacted EVGA support, told them everything, and they accepted it for RMA anyway, even though it wasn’t their fault. They just earned a devoted customer. I’ve got all EVGA power supplies in my pcs and an EVGA 3080. I’m really happy. As a side note, they’ve also been consistently one of the last ones to raise their gpu prices as components got more expensive.
The sticker is not legal in the US
I do want to be a fan of EVGA, but everytime I see pallets of graphics cards being scalped or pallets of graphics cards being sold to mining farms, it's always EVGA cards, always. Every picture I've seen people post of their massive 500+ graphics card orders for mining farms, every single picture has been pallets of EVGA cards. I don't know if they just have a network of shady, shitty distributors or if the company themselves is sending these pallets of cards to mining Farms, but at the end of the day, they know where their cards are going and what's happening with them and they don't stop it from happening. They don't keep more cards to sell to individual consumers on their waiting list, and I've heard their website and wait list is one of the easiest to hack with bots, so whenever they do actually sell cards, they all go to scalpers. Every single time I see a listing of 50 to 100+ graphics cards on eBay selling for $100,000, it's always EVGA cards. Like I said, they know what's happening with their cards and where they end up, and they have done nothing to stop it. They only put up this bullshit waiting list that I've been on since launch and I've never had the chance to buy a single card. If they stopped all the miners and scalpers from ending up with pallets of cards, then every single individual gamer that wanted one could had bought one. This isn't a shortage. Nvidia and AMD have sold more graphics cards in the past 2 years than they ever have before. That isn't a shortage. They just won't stop scalpers and mining farms from ending up with 95% of the cards produced, so it seems like a shortage, but it's not. They are just making sure they fill the demand of other industries before they help the individual people that need cards for 2 or 3 computers they have at home
@@efthimios1917 Interesting. I didn't know that.
@@catch22frubert I thought about that too but I bet you the reason why they buy EVGA cards are because of the very reason that EVGA's cards and service are way better than the rest.
I became a EVGA buyer after the 1080sc card failures when they straight up replaced them with better cards AND Made sure that the next cards had overkill pcbs. Even when the 3090s messed up they didn't flounder and try to say it's the consumers fault for playing new world they looked into the issue and jumped on replacements.
Also the only reason why I have my current card is because of evgas wait list....two of them. It took a long time but it's legit.
Despite the name, their SuperNova power supplies have not caught on fire as much as some of their competitions. 😀

PNY is my new fav brand aswell
My first GPU was a PNY GeForce FX5200, used it for years to test systems, until the PCI slot disappeared. I was stoked though to see the identity of the cyborg woman on the box and drivers disk to finally be reavealed in the MCU as Nebula. I've used plenty of other PNY devices too, and never had a problem.

I trust EVGA and Seasonic. I also bought a Arctic Liquid Freezer II because I didnt want an Asetek aio. But it really comes down to doing your research and knowing what your buying and what other people have to say about it.
You won't regret that Arctic Liquid Freezer II AIO! Things works REALLY well!!!
Oh I know. Ive had it in my system for 2 years now. I even got my brother to get 1 for his system. I delidded my 9900k and OC'd it to 5.2ghz. Runs awesome, no problems. Ram was tricky though I have 4 sticks of Z series running at 4000mhz
For the first time i went with a Palit 3080 and was apprehensive having never had a GPU from them but in this market i grabbed what i could, it was £150 cheaper than most, had some bios issues, they where so helpful the entire way, offered me a new card immediately (i ended up fixing it and declining) and the card performs flawlessly, great temps, consistent clocks, build quality is great, they don't get a lot of fanfare and i get it, they don't do huge marketing pushes or a massively overclocked version like some board partners but you can overclock it yourself just fine, HIGHLY recommend, if you're in the market for a lower end card the 3060 and 3060ti palit cards are in stock on amazon really regularly, had my eye on one for an ITX build for a while and they aren't badly priced (in comparrison to most in this crap market)
Same, I bought a Palit RTX 3070 when it first came out (due to it's lower price compared to other overpriced brands) and it turned out just fine. Still working with decent temps & clocks. They still offer 3 years and I've found their customer service to be really responsive. Their GPU's are also really nicely made, at least on the high end.
Honestly, my experience with MSI was perfect. I am running a 1050Ti and a B450 Tomahawk Max II from them and I have had exactly 0 problems with them.
As long as you don't mind them paying off reviewers to prevent bad reviews
Thanks J good advice! For me I would never buy Thermalake in any form, had many item over the years and failed just out of warranty. What I am extremely happy with is ASRock, Gskill, Noctua and Corsair, any computer I upgrade or build has these and only these componets in them.
TT fans are horrible and their hotswap racks sucks, don't know how their cases are.
Amd will always have my heart. I had a question about thermal paste. So I called their 800 number that was based in San Jose and I got my answer but also nerded out with the rep on the phone. A couple decades and many builds later, I still have never wavered from AMD.
Why did they not design a full fledged desktop 6500XT with more I wonder? Why did they not release non-X chips on cpu side (5300,5500,5600)? Pricing I can understand that they need to keep it high as they beat Intel to the top at that time and have to invest more heavily in R&D to keep the crown. But they could definitely have done much much better. They failed to capture mind share. Very dumb because you don't get many opportunities like this. Just wish good lord will guide them better next time.

Absolutely love Corsair for their easy RMA process. Got a 5000D case from them a while back that had the front glass panel just absolutely shatter on me and they replaced it with one 5 minutes phone call. On the other hand, ASUS support took 5 calls totalling over 2 hours to get my $300 strix b550-e motherboard replaced because it was getting maybe 2 mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. the rma lasted over 2 months (all without a working desktop)
Yeah, Asus is really slow. So slow I ended up buying another motherboard to fill the gap.
But in my experience with other motherboards, I tried Gigabyte and their RGB software kept crashing. So I am back on Asus at this point. Not the best, but not the worst.
Zotac. 3080, 1st week of December 2020.. Failed in mid January 2021. God.. That took almost a year.. 11 months to be more precise.. And got an Asus 3080.. LHR, but.. I just game anyway.. Oh, got the Asus 3080 in white, gorgeous, on the 30th of December 2021.
Corsair is one of the best about the customer service. It never disappoints.
Seasonic and Fractal Design. They didn't disappoint me yet. Hadn't any major problems with BeQuiet yet, but not all their products are great.
Bequiet is great. the only issue I had is the fan clips being just barely too tight for the Pure Rock 2, but that may be a user error ahahaha

The only product I've really had any issues with in the last few years was an MSi B450 motherboard. It had a defective RAM slot, caused it to lock and crash. No issues with the RMA there. Bought an MSi laptop last year, no issues with it either. I know they've had some issues with VRM temps being terrible on some (most?) AM4 boards, but I've never had any real issues with their stuff. Just that motherboard, which they replaced pretty quickly.
msi warranty and support sucks
This is one of my favorite JTC videos recently (though I honestly never miss one and like them all). Even if you disagree with Jay's particular brand opinions I think he lays out a good way to think about how to evaluate brands that is non-biased and really helpful.

EVGA, ASUS and Corsair have all been in my good boy list with great products and excellent RMA. Cant say the same about Gigabyte and MSI tho, especially recently. Between MSI scalping their own graphics cards earlier in 2021 and the whole PSU issue with Gigabyte its really hard to have faith in those companies knowing I am spending thousands of dollars in my hobby. Intel and AMD have been on a see-saw for me recently tho, intel is improving finally and AMD has had good improvements over the years, to the point that I switched CPUs from using intel back when I had the 7700k on my old computer to the most recent 5900x on my current computer. Healthy competition that they have right now is going to help produce better and higher quality products, as you can see that AMD's success in 2020 helped kick intel in the butt and forced them to finally produce worthwhile products.
PowerColor hasn't let me down in 3 generations. Had a bricked Asus board, no huge deal, have a couple of their monitors. MSI boards have been pretty good for me. Guess I've been lucky for the most part.
Just bought my first Coolermaster Product. So we shall see. I’m also on the fence with NZXT. H1 owner here and I agree that NZXT handled the whole recall situation poorly. I’d consider an H2 if they ever made one but would do it cautiously.
Two other brands I’ve had a great experience with and always hear good things about are Sapphire and Seasonic
Seasonic has the best warranty in the business. Even if they sucked you're covered! Good thing they're responsibly priced and look awesome too. EZ
I love Seasonic PSUs, they're literally good and solid.
Noctua makes some great stuff and will always be tops in my books, a bit on the expensive side; but at least I can say the money is really worth it here.
Yep, I don't even consider anything else at this point. I have no reason to.
I was going to go all Gigabyte for my high end build I am starting on. After hearing this, I decided to go with Asus/Evga. I cant take a chance on getting a bad part and not having Gigabyte take care of it. Thanks Jay!
I'm the same. Only difference, is that I buy gigabyte stuff used. For example I bought a EVGA 1070SC new. When I wanted to upgrade I went Gigabyte 1080ti Waterforce when the price dropped. And I leap frog like that every couple launches. So I ran the 1070 for 3 years and then bought the 1080ti just before the skyrocket prices. And I'll run this card until the prices come back down.
recently bought a Gigabyte 4000 Series Graphics card just for it to spontaneously die on me after working perfectly fine for until the exact day before the return policy ended
@@MrAetherGamingdamn, my gigabyte 2070 works very fine. But not with my msi 1070
Much appreciation for you Jay for your continuous honesty and transparency. I've been a loyal customer to ASUS and CORSAIR since like forever even though I've had some issues with their products (ASUS in particular) that didn't steer me away due the overall quality of their products. A company that I believe I'm not gonna buy from again is INTEL and their PHILOSOPHY. I made that decision after purchasing my last INTEL product the i7 7700k and definitely regret that move. It doesn't mean it was a bad product my any stretch but I was feed up with the upgradability policy they use (you only get 1 CPU upgrade if you're lucky) while AMD on the other hand gave their customers a chance to upgrade up to 3 generations of CPUs regardless of the gains you'd get they've provided the option which was one of many reasons for me to go team red.
Tbh I'd also say it's important to also ask: Which product review channels can you trust in 2022?
Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed are my review gotos.
gamers nexus i feel are honest.
Experience (58yrs) has taught me when dealing with tech:
1) Buyer beware and be aware.
2) DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!
I have reduced disappointment greatly if I stick to these rules.
Despite loving and owning a few Corsair products I've had a nightmare customer support issue with them being European. I Put together a small form factor system and their H60 actually bursted at a tube connection point taking the system with it aside from the GPU. Corsair was kind enough to offer full warranty for every part damaged but with a catch. It had to be sent to the US, a process that took 6 months with the package being lost and the refunded parts were payed out in US Dollar MSRP amounts, which means it wasn't enough to buy new parts due to price and currency difference.
But nothing compared to Gigabyte, their 1080ti Waterforce card runs great, but it developed a gurgling sound that got worse and worse over time, the issue was considered cosmetic and I resorted to the NZXT G12 bracket since the sound got so bad.
EVGA on the other hand I've had to return a 980 Ti Hybrid with a faulty pump, shipped it to Germany and received a brand new card within the same week.
I'd have to go with my Noctua cooler and Lian Li case to my favorite brands in my pc build. Avoiding MSI due to the scalping and went with xfx Radeon instead for graphics.
Love the Palit cards, got a 1660 few years ago and is still in my system now which has changed 3 times and then back to the second build though the monitor I had at the time was showing the cards true performance which was clear when I upgraded my monitor. Because of how great this little card is I got the 2060 12Gb version and for the price and performance am very happy and will get more Palit cards in the future or what ever is around lol
Eyes on on a Asus Tuf Gaming 3080 Ti or the OC version for my gaming setup and can keep my 1660 for watching video's and downloads.
can confirm... i got a palit 3090 and am very happy with it. runs without any issues for round about a year now. the gigabyte 3090 i had before died after 3 months... not my first bad experience with gigabyte
I always took Palit for a more second line brand, kinda like Colorful, that's good to hear, maybe i'll give them a chance since their 30 series are usually cheaper where i live
@@oggi360 Gigabyte 3060ti dead after two weeks. PNY XLR8 3080 running strong for a year, outdoing most I've seen oob. 1995-2010MHz no boost. Mid 60's on air.
That is true. My very old palit gtx 570 bought from 2010 still works until now on my niece pc(she's 5yrs old) . I just pulled it out from my storage while teaching her to build PC's and was surprise the gpu still works.
@13:44 "Again, anything that can create fire is a problem." - I strongly agree with this opinion, thanks for posting.
100% agree with your statement on EVGA
I recently had to RMA a card I bought used
I was the third owner and they still just replaced it
Shame about gigabyte... I've always had good luck with their mobo's but as noted here, the response they have had makes me question ever buying them again.
My 3 experiences with Gigabyte were all poor (2 motherboards, 1 graphics card) over about 5 years so they are well off the menu for me.
Asus I have had no issues with and I find them to be the best reliability to cost ratio of any board and/or GPU. I also have an Asus laptop which has been great for everything and very reliable.
Sapphire I will also give a shout out to, I've had a few of their products from the 7850, 7970, 380X and 570 and they were all solid, reliable and overclocked with stability.
Only 1 experience with MSI, a GPU that started artefacting, and was replaced within a week even though I was the second owner. I will be strongly considering their motherboards in my next build also, as I have built machines for others using their Tomahawk boards - they look the part and function very well.
@@rogergilmour8805 you won't find a better board manufacturer than asus
I have several brands I really like and usually recommend (Asus, EVGA, Fractal, Arctic) but the only two I fully trust are Noctua and Seasonic.
I do not trust Gigabyte (even though I have their x570 Aorus Master. I would have gone with the Hero if the psu incident had happened a little bit sooner) or MSI.
I have the same board and I was worried about the people saying they had POST issues and always had to pull the CMOS. I have the v1.2 and after more than 6 months of ownership, I have not encountered that issue (thankfully). I don't like how their support works but I do appreciate the feature set on this board. It was this or the MSI x570 Unify or MEG. That MSI board was constantly out of stock or in stock for $400+ so I went with Gigabyte. The bios seems OK on this board but I wish it was better organized and had more info for its LLC settings. Of course, the newer version which has the passive chipset cooling has a better BIOS but for whatever reason, this one has the crappy old-looking one.
I've recently become a big fan of Corsair as a company. I got a headset from them for Christmas and after a couple months, the USB adapter stopped working. I e-mailed them about it and they had me verify the serial number and my shipping address and got a replacement dongle in the mail. I had it within a couple weeks and they very communicative through the whole process. No hoops to jump through or complications, and the adapter sells for $10 on their site. If they are that helpful with something that tiny, it makes me a fan in general of their company and service.
You definitely can't trust Wargaming. Just thought you should know that.....Jay.
never even heard of them bruh
I've never had anything but positive interactions with Corsair whenever I've needed to deal with them regarding a product issue.
I still like NZXT. The riser problem made me wary of them but I'm glad I bit the bullet. The PC I got is very nice and clean looking and their support was fast and helpful.
Zotac GPU user since 08! I love their customer service and RMA process. I still have my 1070 (still working and used for my Dual PC setup) and 3080
