I never leave comments but I have to say this is a gut punch for your long time viewers. You’ve put LIV golf down for a couple years now. I can’t remember a positive mention about LIV on your channel or podcast. You’ve always said you don’t get it. But now you’re an ambassador for LIV golf??Didn’t you criticize golfers for taking the money over their beliefs? Did you just sell your soul for money??? Disappointed to say the least.
Well, being fair to him, he’s been always on the fence. He liked the overall idea but was struggling with the “teams” set-up, he always mentioned positives and negatives. Now, remember that last year he was not invited by the PGA to play the creators event, which I think it was a huge disappointment and now he is taking his chance. For us it means hopefully better content.
Dang Rick, I say this with a heavy heart. About 6 years ago now, YOU, were the first person I started with to try to improve my game. I Couldn't afford lessons at the time. So I would practice techniques that you'd demonstrate. I also wouldn't miss a break 75, club reviews, tutorials, drills ect. Loved it. With that being said, I honestly hope you enjoy the LIV life. I'll never wish ill will to anyone. Hopefully now, people/subscribers that catch this particular video, will now understand what "For the Love of the Game" vs. $$$$ is capable of. There's no sponsorship, he hasn't signed a club deal, he's an ambassador for LIV. He has never been associated with the PGA Tour and they ignored him for the Creator Classic and Creator Council, so why not take on this role. Good luck to him, he will get some great content out of this.

@@71andrewmac - I have and LIV is just a boring product. Team golf doesn't work outside of the Ryder Cup yet LIV continues to pursue the idea of franchises being the future of the sport. This comment section and the ratio of negative comments suggests that I'm not alone in thinking this. I actually came back to this video to see if Rick had lost even more subs since this announcement...I was pleased to see that he has.

@ - who wants to watch golfers compete just for more money? Shotgun format kills any drama but nobody with LIV seems to really care about the fans anyway. Yes, there’s an individual competition but a smart shot choice for the individual often conflicts with what is best for the team…it doesn’t work. I’ll take watching PGA rookies competing to make it over watching a bunch of bought golfers just going through the motion so they can collect their giant paycheck any day.
Looks like more of promoting the players, teams, courses of LIV than the actual format of 54 holes and other stuff he was critical of before. I don’t think he would say that LIV format or golf is better than the PGA but can show the players in a different light. Even though it was all about money, LIV golfers have stuff to bring to us recreational golf people.

The most disapointing thing is that we liked watching your content because it was honest and open opinions. Your content is now bought and paid for, you will be told what to say and what you can post to portray Liv in a particular light. This channel is just going to feel like an extras channel for Liv now and not the Rick Shiels channel we liked watching.
That’s an over generalization. You actually have no idea how it’s going to come across on social media. All we really know is that his videos are going to be even better with great guests. This deal doesn’t change his opinion on clubs or other golf products, so the stuff that really matters for him to by unbiased about hasn’t been affected.

But at some point u have to accept it and also accept that if u were in his shoes needing new and exciting content and this opportunity came along you would have to take it with both hands. @digitalmanoz true. I started watching these guys years ago as i was looking for clubs and their reviews were honest and unbiased. I appreciate the HIT channel for this reason. More and more of the channels are signing club deals as well so reviews are harder to find.

I can see your stance. But, put it this way, he has a family - the driving force of a guy with a family is to provide the best possible life for them. I enjoy watching golf influencers for their unbiased reviews and honest content. When they get signed to a tour or manufacturer that severely detracts from the content in my opinion.
However most of the top 10-20 went on the PGA creators event, so they’re all affiliated / signed in some way.
They need money to make great content .

I can see your stance. But, put it this way, he has a family - the driving force of a guy with a family is to provide the best possible life for them. I do totally understand the sentiment of needing content creators that you described (and they are out there).
