Incredible. I recall thinking in the 1990s, "That's a clever name for a band." And here I am, finally, listening to one of their songs. Wow. Sorry I'm 25 years too late to the party. What a great band.
Just saw these lovely Lads tonight in Vancouver BC Canada! They did two albums, weightlifting and a happy pocket both. It was fantastic. Acoustic show, and I nearly fainted and slid off my chair when Frank sang To Sir with Love.
Just.WOW! This band somehow was never on my radar back in the day. I only recently became acquainted with them. To Sir With Love was always an absolute favorite of mine and this version just blew me away. I definitely need to dig deeper into their catalog.
AMAZING ARRANGEMENT! I am absolutely in awe that someone other than LuLu could not only perform this iconic song, but do it in such a heartfelt way that it should be played and heard "EVERYWHERE" ! As a 'baby-boomer" that's tough to admit!
I don't know if the band actually reads these comments but I wish they did so that they can realize how PERFECT this cover is!! The lead singer is so yummy, the arrangement so dreamy.. everything is perfect!
Cake is in my TOP 5 of all Classic Lp's Not a friend I play it for who doesn't go and get it themselves I saye this is my Fave But each Lp is a JOY - I really tried back in with CAKE to promote it on some fanzines i wrote for and wanted to help break it in America It was a HUGE hit on a few Alt. Rock stations Rick
Thanks for providing the key to playing the vid!! I totally LOVE this.. it is so dreamy and a wonderful version of the song! I just want to to melt and swim in it.
Wow ... what a wonderful interpretation of a classic from the 80s. Congratulations ... the arrangement is excellent and your voice is magnificent Please post more videos
I know this song from days gone by,but WOW i've never heard it sung like this, so very seductive, I LOVE IT. Thank you so very much jdimaria for posting all these beautiful videos now i want more than just my "cake".
the song is from the trashcan sinatras' 1996 album "a happy pocket." they made a 15 minute short film called "spooktime" to promote the album, and this video is taken from the film. the song is also on a promo cd with songs from "spooktime" and was released as a single, all are pretty hard to find.
After watching again after several months I still LOVE this video to pieces. I could even do without the film aspects and just concentrate on the band footage. The singer with those bangs and those glasses and that voice... simply yummy.
Lol... Komodiakarma - this is by far the funniest and most interesting reply I have ever seen on youtube. Thank you. You have a career in comedy just waiting on you.
Muy buena versión!!! Nunca la había escuchado interpretada por un hombre, y me gustó mucho cómo suena. Gracias por subirla!! Saludos desde México. María PS: If you need translation, please tell me.
A melhor banda de nerds do mundo e sua versão de luxo desse clássico. Dedicaria a muitos professores do ensino fundamental e médio, e a alguns da UERJ.
this is hilarious! 0:54 ha! ...no Lulu here! I saw them in San Francisco last night and their songs from 2009's IN THE MUSIC are incredible! Welcome Back and good luck!!!!!!
@davtej I'm glad you said "dreamy" because that is how I always described this video.. it is just so groovy an dreamy and wonderful. And this from someone who totally LOVES the original!!
I found this video a couple of weeks ago like so many others and I can't stop watching it. I think this is probably the best cover of the original. At first I didn't realize it was from 1996 and felt sad it wasn't current because that meant this band didn't rise from obscurity even as it knocked as a debut single. I think it might be because, however dreamy the lead singer is in this video, his voice is beautiful but not strong and their lyrics in other songs are far from mainstream.
Very underrated band - their own material is just as strong, but I always loved this cover - arrangement owed a lot to Blur - listen to "To The End" from Parklife album
agree with Catkisser… I've loved this version since the first time I heard it all those years ago. never really watched the video before, and could do without the idiot in it!
What an awesome performance this is, beautiful arrangement and a great video concept with that (just too bad about the visual quality) ... I'm an instant fan of Trashcan Sinatras.

Jodi Jackman I would have loved to have been there! I have been such a huge fan of these guys since the 90’s! You are so damn lucky!
Cake was the first and best
Wow! First time hearing this version and I'm loving it!
Who wouldn't LOVE this version?? It is just so dreamy and wonderful.. it always makes me feel good.
To me this is now as iconic as Lulu's original song. It is dreamy and wonderful.
Love the trashcan Sinatras. Great cover of this Mark London song. Many people think LuLu wrote this because she probably made it famous
Just.WOW! This band somehow was never on my radar back in the day. I only recently became acquainted with them. To Sir With Love was always an absolute favorite of mine and this version just blew me away. I definitely need to dig deeper into their catalog.

In this video they are like the coolest, sexiest, most fab wedding band ever.
Wow, I never heard these guys before--I am genuinely impressed . . .

That moment when Frank crosses his eyes makes life worth living.
Who could not like this???

This is apparently one of Michael Stipe of REM's favorite bands. Hmmm...
Amazing. Awesome sauce from L.A Ca.

The more I watch this video, the more I like it. Is it based on som movie soundtrack like the original with Sidney Poirtier?

Very underrated band - their own material is just as strong, but I always loved this cover - arrangement owed a lot to Blur - listen to "To The End" from Parklife album

Uma pérola
Yep
this is actually a brilliant cover. it reminds me os the smiths.
If y'all like this I suggest you check out the singer's sister, Eddi Reader! Two immensely talented people!!
This is some kind of David Lynch lovely. Since I don't know the film, I'd rather just watch the band. I agree with @catkisser
The original British film starring Sidney Poitier is terrific... You really would like it so check it out... Nothing like a David Lynch film though.
Kick ass cover...
a lullaby, who knew?
And humor me on this one ... the lead singer? Definitely Doctor Who.
good version
Nice.
(smiley face).
This is the absolute best version of 'to sir with love'... what happened to the audio???
Those are some powerful lyrics. Who wrote this originally?
IF NO AUDIO - right underneath the video, switch the setting from 360p to 240p and it should work
add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.
a wee man kicking the wall there! LOL!
@ideetjes add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.
@tundraization add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL to get the audio/video to work. i don't know why this happens.

My like made the amount 666💀💀💀
Alguien sabe qué película es?
Could someone indicate what film the video clips are from? They seem to fit this song in a weirdly appropriate way.
It was called Spooktime, i am the little boy with the celtic top and fake moustache and I've never ever seen it.
What an awesome performance this is, beautiful arrangement and a great video concept with that (just too bad about the visual quality) ... I'm an instant fan of Trashcan Sinatras.
