Zayra looks amazing on that golden outfit and black hat, and I actually like her weirdness and uniqueness, the fact that she is always herself no matter people like her or not. And she has a beautiful voice. She's not a rock singer, it's evident that she belongs to another show...but she is a talented artist.
Probably the best all around episode. This show proves just how hard it is to break into the industry. Even with all this exposure, and solid performances, nobody really turned into a bonified "star", landed a major deal, or went up a major peg
Ryan's Paint it Black was kinda a goth version of the song. And as much as I hate to give that skunk-headed Canadian freak any credit, Lukas' rendition of Creep blew me away. I remember seeing this show when it aired & am happy to have found this archive of the complete series.
Before this performance, I didn't understand how Zayra even made it to the show. Gilby said she was flat a lot, but to me this was the first time I felt she was in tune and had strong controlled vocals.
Zayra was flawed but overall a lot more charismatic and exciting than most of the others. She was really top 3 material but it was obvious early on she was not Supernova's front person.
Toby had heart and emotion,ryan had intensity, lukas had style ,attitude,and charisma, josh had soul and funk, dalana had strength and dynamics ,magni had craft and power the rest blew

Marty, Ryan Star, and Dilana were the best things about Rockstar (Both season), and none of them won. The people that did win both seasons, were failures. JD is homeless and Lukas is...well I don't know or care.
hypnoticverse jd was homeless again after touring about a year with inxs, but eventually he started living in a friend's empty apartment, jd played about 100 concerts with inxs but started using cocaine and the band fired him at an airport in hong kong, jd was already edgy and manic - being around him when he's on cocaine must have been tense and unnerving, the whole band has broken up since in 2012, there are clips on youtube that tell everything
People keep saying he's "homeless again" like it's a failing of his. He was with the band about 5 years before he fell to depression and his addiction. His place is cemented in INXS and music history. It's a tragedy, that has happened to many of the musicians who were on top.
Ryan has a good voice for being in Broadway shows. as much as I liked Dilana it's unfortunate that her voice always has that smoky sound to it. her best performances were with quieter / acoustic songs.

Lukas has had a few other bands, he's been solo, and he's been married over 14 years to Kendra Jade. They have a 7 year old son. They're doing quite well. They're fine during this quarrentine.
Had Mig done Ryan's version of Paint It Black on season 1 instead of throwing on a ridiculous jacket and making it as theatrical as possible after they asked him to stop being theatrical and be more edgy, he may have had a better shot at winning. I like how Dilana thought she was being clever by convincing Lukas to sing Creep because she thought he'd fail, but she may have clinched the win for him right there no matter what anyone else did going forward.
I really think most, if not all, of them actually were on this show in order to be on as long as possible in order for a re ord exec to watch and see them, and call them for a deal. Why else would they ne so scared to play with members of the band they are SUPPOSED TO BE AUDITIONING FOR IN ORDER TO WIN THE GIG as their lead vocalist. Tge fact that Josh refused to try and sing the ztule tgey were looming for, confirmed to me, that he was only on this show for tv coverage to get media attention and a record deal.

Me personally, also a drummer in a rock band doing covers, do not see what everyone likes about Lukas.... He does not sing in a manner you can understand what in the world he is saying. Doing covers you can get away with that to a point... but start doing originals and no one will have a clue what you' re singing about.
Sigh. :( I said it before on something that was done in season one by Marty Casey... I didn't DISLIKE what Lukas did, but Marty did it so much better. I am re-watching the whole season for like the fourth time, and I'm still defending Lukas and reminding people to spell his name right! I'm not gonna fight like I did 15 years ago, but please don't post hateful things about Lukas. You don't know him, you don't know who he is, probably have never met him in the last 15 years, so please don't keep posting "I hate Lukas" and "Lukas sucks" and the other bullshit I've argued on for 15 years. This was the week that Lukas won the competition. I loved Diliana but she couldn't beat out Lukas.
