    To me, a "Liveaboard" is significantly smaller than the ships you listed. Something more along the lines of a 400i or, on the large side, a 600i.

      I wouldn't go without the BMM once server meshing and the other solar systems release. Chilling out on planets sipping tea is a niche I'm all for.

      I can't wait till we see the BMM in game. Sadly I suspect we'll be waiting several more years, but at least we'll benefit from iterative ship design improvements by then!

    Sorry to tell you that the Odisee can only refine fuel, and it goes directly into its tanks. In term of exploration and scaning range, it is inferior to the Carack. It's advantage as become a problem, because long term exploration is boring and not even happening in a few years. The Carack will rein supreme until Capital ships like the Kraken, Idris, Polaris... are release, in maybe 2 to 5 years. The loaner of Odise is the Carack, with is better lol !

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  8 месяцев назад +1

      Apologies, you're right it can only refine into its own tanks (at least atm)! But I think they'll balance the Odyssey to allow it a competitive niche in its own right; otherwise it wouldn't be a competitive ship in this class!

    • @blackdreamhunk3413
      @blackdreamhunk3413 8 месяцев назад

      Ships like karken,merchantman,Idris and javelin are listed miltary not exploration ships like the 890 jump and the will be very expensive to fly and is listed as a science ship not an exploration ship.

    • @arenomusic
      @arenomusic 3 дня назад

      @@ViciDeumYour imagination of the Odyssey's role here is far more thought out than CIG's idea of designing an entire shipbound refinery and mining setup that can only mine quantanium and can't even sell it, only refine it into fuel for itself and its hangar. Being able to mine anything and store the refined ore onboard would immediately make it top-tier, would love to see them make this change in the concept.

    Liveabord and no mention of the Caterpillar? The plank with thee ye skallywag!
    The most hero ship of all hero ships with the spirit, vibe AND use of the Millenium Falcon and tetanus as a bonus! It might meave some rust on the ground after every take off but by gawd it'll take you where you want!

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hahaha, fair point! The Cat honestly made a very close contender for this list, esp given its modularity. But I felt these just narrowly edged it out of the running!

  • @smoothlandings5231
    @smoothlandings5231 8 месяцев назад +2

    For me the idris is also on that list while not being as versatile as the kraken if you get spotted the idris will be a much safer home than the kraken against enemy fire

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  8 месяцев назад

      The only reason the military ships didn't score higher was given their high operating costs (per CIG). Otherwise the Jav and Idris would have been top contenders!

    A 400i tried to pirate my carrack cargo run. They couldn't even penetrate the shields after we set off. Dropped my ramp and was welcomed to the settlement with guns pointed, I took one down and had the crew take off for safer trade routes.

And I like the idea of doing in game vs concepts, but hesitate on creating in-game ship content as it's not as evergreen. But I definitely think you made the right choice with the Endeavor. That ship is going to do so much, it's unparalleled in its utility!

    • @blackdreamhunk3413
      @blackdreamhunk3413 8 месяцев назад

      I own the 890 jump and the Endeavor but the Endeavor is not an exploration ship. The Endeavor is listed as a science ship. There are going to be a lot of people who will be upset to find the Endeavor is an Industrial science ship, not an exploration ship. 890 jump should be the best Capital class exploration ship period it was as exploration ship.

    I was looking for a much smaller ship to live in for a solo player.
    First I tried the C1 and damn I love this thing. One of, if not the best solo ship in my opinion. But for living on a ship, it had to be a bigger one so now I’m going with the Corsair and damn, I love this thing. 😂

    The BMM isn't even a blockaidrunner any more It has pretty much taken the role of the 890 jump. You know what the people didn't want the 890 jump to bigger were right. IF the 890 jump did not get bigger it would have stayed a n exploration ship as advertised and promised. Cig has pretty much lied to gamers about tlwith their own ship matrix.

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  7 месяцев назад

      Every concept tends to swell, and the BMM was certainly no exception. But the 890J will be a great luxury tourer/explorer. It just won't (nor was designed as) a massive cargo hauler or have a shop. While the BMM was always supposed to be this intergalactic intergenerational trade ship!

    Love the video, but you seem to be a little confused about what a liveaboard is. Big ships like the Kraken would be mobile bases, not a liveaboard. I mean, yes, you *can* live on them, but that's not what the term liveaboard means in spirit. Search YT for "liveaboard sailing" and you'll find tons of videos of people living on their boats and they are small boats, monohulls and cats, not super tankers and freighters lol. A liveaboard would be something like a Terrapin or 315p or Prospector or Vulture up to something like a C1 or *maybe* a 600i or Connie Phoenix or possibly MSR. Liveaboard is part of the tiny living movement, that is living on sailboats, in vans/RVs, or tiny homes. Sure something small like a 315p might need to stop to refuel more often, but it's not generally out of the way to stop at a Lagrange station, pop down on a pad, and refuel before taking off again lol. Just like stopping in a marina to fill up on fresh water and fuel for the backup engine.

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  8 месяцев назад

    How much did you pay for the BBM that is not listed as exploration ship 🤔? $200 to 650 while origins ship owner paid $ 600 US to $950 US for the ship that is useless and doesn't do the everything that was promised.

    • @ViciDeum
      @ViciDeum  7 месяцев назад

      I think I paid about $350 for my BMM. But the 890J is still a great ship, albeit a luxury yacht. While I think it'll be able to explore just fine, and be a wonderful liveaboard its just a different ship than these others. And some of those advantages (like better moneymaking and its subsistence) outweighed the 890s inclusion herein.

      All larger ships are starting to feel a little intimidating for those players who mostly get out solo (myself included although I love group play, it’s more about time and trying to coordinate).
      One can only imagine that over time, everything will be balanced to ensure we have a fun experience where these larger ships can be enjoyed still.

    It will be another 10 years before this mmo ever gets finished. Star citizen is such a scam the 890.jump was sold as exploration ship that meant for deep space exploration. The 890 Jump is lsted as the only Capital class exploration ship period.

      It may very well take a decade or more, but they're trialing things never done before. And yes, the 890 is listed as an explorer, but that doesn't mean its the best liveaboard. Due to the higher costs to run and lower moneymaking potential it just narrowly missed this list.
