I think they had it right the ST was going to be the upgraded 'Status' version, while the ES would have been stripped down. Going by the Aurora naming conventions the ES should be an 'essentials' or stripped down version, having it be the explorer variant now is interesting. But also considering they are selling the ST paint job (almost the same minus some of the blue highlights) with the concierge version of the ship.
@@LiveActionKimPossibleRufus 100% ... the first modular ship was sold a decade ago and we still don't have modularity but, they've sold a number of modular ships since then (concept & flyable). We don't have data transport but, the Herald and Mercury Star Runner are flyable; the Herald having no redeeming value in the game without it's mechanic. We have multiple ships in concept and flyable that have tractor beams but, no mechanics for that. And, the list goes on. It's the promise and hype of "coming soon" mechanics and game play that sells ships for them.
UPDATE: In a comment on Spectrum, CIG has now come out and said that the Clipper variant will cover and block access to its components when fully loaded, which may pose a threat if you ever need to repair the ship during your travels. I suppose you now have a reason to keep the C1, but not quite, since you could still load up the Zeus Clipper half way, get all the access you need, and still have way more cargo than the C1. Also quick correction from the comparison charts: Freelancers have 4x Size 3 weapons not 4x Size 4! Join My Discord: discord.gg/g6D2NsjZx2
Well, as long as you're not in combat it should be only a minor inconvenience as you can just use the tractorbeam to pull some cargo out into space, repair the damaged components, then pull the cargo back in. I'm wondering which components are located there as there is also a second component room on the other side of the crew habitation area.
I don't see exactly why you've deemed the c1 irrelevant with the Zeus, it seems to fill the upper end of its size and with the 4 size 3s and faster speeds in the c1 it seems to be more multi role focused as with the Zeus more specialised and less multi role.. I do agree the one entry is such a weird creature comfort for crusader to skip out on but I don't see multi role pilots giving up on the c1
I would say the 400i gives the ES pretty fierce competition. It's a similar size explorer with very close firepower, a very large missile payload, and a large shield. It also has good flight dynamics, insane speed, and similar cargo with the downside of being more limited to what vehicles it can store (but it does have a dedicated X1 bay).
400i is quite a bit longer, requires a bigger landing pad, still can't hold a wheeled vehicle with an enclosed cab, and is $100 more expensive. In the 400i's size class the Connie series makes a lot more sense.
@@T51B1 It depends imho. Objectively the 400i is a lot faster than a Constellation Aquila (988 vs 1250 m/s). It also has four times the fuel endurance. Of course the Aquila has the better weapons and more than double the cargo capacity. The 400i is $250 and the Aquila is $310 pledged. Like all ships they have their pros and cons. Personally I kept the 400i as a daily driver primarily for its design and very good speed. But for PvE bounties I use other ships. The Aquila might be more rounded in the end, but it needs some love from CIG badly. Cheers o7
You would think that RSI would make a ship that would fit iits own vehicles it makes. So I hope the URSA does fit. Great video, next year will definitely be RSI's year. Just need that connie rework!
Dude your videos are the best. Full stop. Something about how you relay data really makes it stick in my brain. I love your content, thank you for your efforts
Let's not forget that the constellation series will be getting a gold standard pass at some point. I can see the Aquila getting a size 3 scanner as well at that point since all three variants are listed with a size 2 currently and the former is replacing an entire turret for a better scanner.
I'm excited for this RSI Zeus MkII series! To note, the MR bounty hunter is also effectively competing with the Hawk and Avenger Stalker as a heavier alternative for prison pods, etc. This MR version is looking like my dream ship finally coming to reality, a livable in bounty hunting ship. Same with the CL, I picked up both and melted my MSR for it, more my style
@jde-jj1lu eh I'm not too worried about that, it's a 1 to 3 person ship which is soon to start to mean something. Major ship reworks coming. That said the design aesthetics, abilities, and medium sized ships being the perfect size for so much variety in the game have me excited for the series
About the Zeus, he did say "these are the three we ended up deciding on in the end." Twice. *in the end* has a finality to it. ST looks like it might have been a little OP.
Great vid! The Dur has 4 size 3 gimbaled guns, not size 4. I saw the picture of the 4th variant and it's called the "Status", which I take as a luxury ship, a smaller brother to the Pheonix. The Status as seen in the picture has an extra rear wing and turret, it may also have a large sunroof as well.
I would say the CL is the better option for medium cargo over the raft. Though I am confused how the CL has so much cargo space in what appears to be same size cargo bay as ES.
First, still the best video up about them! Well done! Second, I think the ES is low-key my new "perfect Cutty." A "Medium" ship, with a S3 Jump Drive, a HUGE radar and scanning turret (according to the stats), that is the same size as found in the Carrack, and a fuel tank to match? Yes plz. That fuel tank and quantum engine is moving something far smaller, and lighter than a Starfarer. I bet this sucker can fly forever. Throw in the redundant coolers and power, and the overkill 4x S2 shields, and we have what could be one of the most stealthy (just by virtue of it's detection range /signature profile ratio) durable, long range smaller ships, with a decent hold, accomodations, and OK firepower. Next to the Mercury Starrunner, I can't think of a more flexible offering for my purposes. Glad it's only gonna cost me $10. CIG was good this year, $10 seems fair. 😆
12:23 - I looks like it has a skylight, moon roof, whatever you call it. It looks like it has windows on the roof. Maybe the ST could be a Touring variant of the ship in the same vein as the Phoenix.
Who knows what the RSI Zeus will be like. The Spirit got bigger than expected while in production. The C1 now carries 64 SCU instead of initial 48 SCU. The Zeus may get larger as well. One thing is for certain, the Spirit line flies in atmo like a dream! So nice. Personally, it's not all about numbers for me. I wanted a daily driver, not necessarily a small cargo ship. The C1 will suit me just fine. Amazing looks, tractor beam, 64 SCU that can now fit the 32 SCU crates, great maneuverability, it's a win. I ended up getting the MR because quite frankly, it looks like it will be a perfect bounty hunting ship with two turrets, EMP and Dampener, prisoner pods, armory and more. Just gives you the feels that you're out to dispense justice with that thing.
When looking at the back of the ST it seems like the roof has windows like the RSI Galaxy crew quarters. This lowers the height of the rear section so might mean they traded in the cargo space for something like the Spirit E1 seating. This could make it the Sport Touring version? The E1 also has an extra turret when compared to the C1. Or maybe it is a military alternative going for stealth, trading off armour for a lower signature and higher speed and agility?
I have heard that the trade off of the C1 vs the Zeus CL is that the components in the C1 are easily accessible, while a fully loaded cargo hold in the Zeus CL would block components. This means that if something is damaged, you may be forced to jettison cargo from the Zeus CL to repair the damaged components and limp home. Not a factor as of today (Oct 2023) but will make a difference with multi crew gameplay and the engineering systems. I will edit if I can find the reference to the quote confirming this.
Check the pinned comment :) I talk about this and how it's a complete non factor since you can fill the hold of the CL half way, not block any components and still have more cargo than the C1
for the the ST variant, you can see two ships in what seem like combat formation, the two ships have two turrets just like the MR so my guess is a pure combat variant, something between the heavy fighter and the "corvet" size combat ships, a "super heavy fighter" or a "light corvet" and probably with the additional shield and the added armor
That would be interesting for sure, unfortunately these marketing materials almost always show combat pictures no matter the ship: see liberator and C1 haha. You're right thought the more guns definitely means it's bring tailored for a higher end
@@Space-Tech yeah you have a point about the marketing, but the second turret still make the ship only for two probable uses : A- combat B- VIP transport
Yes I got all three just for the reasons you laid out. Plus I am down sizing my fleet. With engineering around the corner. It’s going be hard to solo larger ships
I think a big factor between the Zeus MR and Cutlass Blue, is prisoner capacity. The blue can hold 12 prisoners. It really does not look like the MR holds more than 2 based on the interior images. That is a huge difference, especially for a 3 crew ship.
That's really true, What's interesting is that they said those pods in the MR will stack, maybe that means a larger capacity? We'll definitely have to see once the ship is out.
Right now, I think there is no competitor to the MR variant. The Antares is a heavy fighter meant to disable it's opponents and shred it into piesces, the Mantis an ambush ship mostly used by pirates or law forces to isolate targets and the cutlass blue is in my opinion a dedicated prisonner transport ship with 6 times more pods than the MR with the ability to do bounty hunting against low threat targets. And there is also the Hawk, a bounty hunter ship meant to chase low treat targets. So each one of these ships will have their own gameplay in the future and be usefull in their own way (Antares included). If you want to capture bouties with your friends go with Zeus MR, but if you goal is to be sure that they won't be a problem anymore, the Antares is here for you!
Best ship video I have seen to date as a new player. I'm probably grabbing the MR edition, but what did make me curious was trying to see what other ships have a size 3 radar to compete with the ES? Seems like a pretty fantastic thing to have for exploration, but thats coming from a new player.
Appreciate it :) off the top of my head nothing in this price class has a size 3 radar! You have to go to bigger ships like the 600i or the Carrack. It's possible I've missed something but that's what I remember rn
I suspect the room opposite the armoury in the MR could be a small medbay, maybe a single bed or even just med equipment since the new loaner ships for the MR are n cutlass blue and an C8r Pieces which seems to suggest the MR will have some sort of medical facility.
@@Space-Tech I wanted a Solo-Duo exploration ships arround the medium size but the Freelancer Dur has been forgotten by CIG (and is in need of the "Gold Standard") and I don't really vibe with 400i/600i, Corsair or the Aquilla. I'm gonna keep the Freelancer DUR just in case it get Rework and wait next year for the MK 2 ES and upgrade an LTI.
@@waley1168 the freelancer was my pledge ship during kickstarter and the original designs for it were pretty amazing. I wish it would get love. I have felt it needed some changes since the mustang / avenger got bigger. I did a video of some of the ideas I had a couple of years ago.
It seems like the room on the MR is some kind of access way into crew habitation, so you might be right with more armor based storage. Love the Deep Dive and keep up the good work. See you in the 'verse
I also think that they'll make the turret slaved to the pilot as well. Considering the Spirit also works like that, with the underside turret being slaved to the pilot, giving it additional firepower. With how the ship is sloped underneath the ship, it looks like it can shoot foward where the pilot is aiming just fine.
Hopefully the MR will be more agile than its variants, which frankly is a force multiplier both defensive and offensively. I ended up with an MR and ES but all three variants seem great and unique. Nice work, really enjoying this vid! As to pricing I will not be surprised if there’s a significant hike on release. Also guessing about the ST: If it has a top turret I’m going to guess it’s a pure combat variant with no intention of capture, perhaps trading the emp and dampener for the defensive qualities of the CL and ES.
@@ozramblue117 yeah, that’s what I talked about : the Phoenix is also a VIP shuttle variant. Even if the gameplay isn’t implemented yet. But I think the Phoenix is more like a VIP touring ship and the Zeus ST possibly more like a private jet because there is no space to put a bar or a swimming pool in the ST.
Given the weapons on it, I'd assume the ST is another militarized variant. Likely a torpedo boat designed with Star Citizen in mind. The retaliator was introduced long before any of the current Star Citizen balancing metrics were in place and exists as a SQ42 asset. As for the Spirit C1, its really a upsized starter ship like the base freelancer and cutlass black, so its safely within its own category. The in-game price of the C1 should be much cheaper than the CL. I'd also expect the handling on the C1 to be superior.
I'd kinda expect a Bomber variant of the Zeus. A lot of it seems aimed on 1-upping the Freelancer/Cutlass/Spirit and simply adding more bombs/faster drop speeds would be a low hanging fruit to charge extra over the A1. Not releasing it right away would also make sense as the A1 is flyable and got a price increase, so releasing it later as flight ready would keep A1 owners from upgrading at a discount.
Looking at the ST, I think of a Security/Police Variant Ship. LIke for Port/Jumppoint/Planetary NPC security work. Solid breakdown Vid! I bought the ES. Excited for this gem. And as a loaner, CIG gives the A1. So that saves me money on trying that one out. 😏
When the Zeus CL arrived, it turned my Spirit C1 into an LTI token even before I ever flew it. I'm a big fan of the MAX for ROC mining (fantastic RORO setup). I see the Clipper taking that role from the MAX. The MAX is better with a more compact footprint but it will be worth the try to see how the Clipper fares
Picked up all three, I'm not sure what the ST will be, but my guess would be ST=Stealth, which if it being the case I'll be getting it as well. Love its looks, and you're right, it killed the A1, C1 from the start.
First, I got the ES, it just looks fun and manageable if I want to run around in it by myself. I don't have a dedicated explorer as I traded in my Corsair to get this and have some cash for a small fighter. I don't understand that bashing everyone is doing to the C1 Spirit. It has not changed...it is as advertised. It is going to be way more maneuverable and will have the ability to handle is own in incidental dogfights. I know this as I've been flying the A1 a lot lately and expect the C1 to be at least as capable. It also looks very cool. FUN is the number one main reason we play!
I’m so glad they’re finally making a competitor to the Freelancer DUR, because that ship is so outdated by now and they recently confirmed that even once it gets a gold standard pass, it’ll still have that “old” MISC feel to it aka it won’t get the Hull A interior. And more important, I feel like once the resource management systems come online, medium ships (Freelancer, Cutty, etc.) will pretty much be the upper limit of what you can comfortably fly solo (with the option of bringing along a friend or two).
I hope they really take a good look at the freelancer when they give it it's gold pass, it looks like components have had some work done to them internally but nothing major
The idea is to lock in the price of the Zeus by getting a cheap upgrade to the ship but NOT applying the upgrade. So you only buy the upgrade, no other ship. Then you can apply when the ship comes out, and if you don't like it you're only out the amount you paid for the upgrade
It will be great to get the full details in how she flys and handles, one would assume they would all have a size 2 QD. I think its a great break down over all and the Zeus also has design going for it that sort of negates its short comings on its stat sheets. Unlike the spirit there does not seem to be any wasted space, its as compact as they could make it, sleek with the multiple access points that we love to enter and leave our ship with the latest interior options and MFD layouts. While it might not be a sparrow in flight it has to fly better than the Taurus and while not as well armed or shielded its smaller agility and better looking design make probably fun an efficient to flew. Checks all the boxes for me and if you have a C1 Spirit its kinda a no contest upgrade. Though the ES is kinda worthless because radar play really has not come about, if they do come out with Pyro soon then it could be a long range scout to travel around and see everything. Most other ships will likely be forced to mount a more efficient QD to make up for their lack of range. I don't use missiles allot but size fours are pretty big for a ship that size.
The Cutlass Blue has a smaller crew size. How important that difference is depends on what that third crew member's duties are. The other difference the Cutlass Blue has over the MR is likely agility. The QD and EMP aren't useful if you can't get them into position. Is it like the Antares, needing a crew member for the EW or more like the Blue where the pilot controls it?
I wasn’t really hyped for this ship, but after watching your vidi, I picked one up with store credit. I also thought that MISC came with 4 gimbaled size 3 weapons?
I wonder if the ST was supposed to be a luxury variant. We almost (emphasis on almost) always get a luxury tuned variant of new midsized RSI ships when they're added, but this one is conspicuously absent, so I wonder if that may have been where it was going. Someone else also said stealth which would make sense given the acronym, but... I dunno maybe it'll be like the Cutlass Steel where it comes out later once they've polished it up and decided it has a place in the verse now.
@@Space-Tech If you look at ST's beautiful butt you can see spoiler. I think its there to make the ship look similar to other 3 but I think it has no cargo.....
I'd say the room off the side will be a Brig, It is a bounty hunter ship. The Freelancer DUR also has an onboard fuel refinery, I think that will play a big part in PYRO. They are as well in the process of updating the Freelancer series. I can't wait to see what they come up with. With that said... there are so many ships now that perform the same role. It really just comes down to personal preference and style.
Spot on! I've already purchased upgrades from my C1 to the CL, Dur to ES, and Cutlass Blue to MR. I haven't applied them yet (I'll wait until they actually release). My Vanguard Sentinel is also on the chopping block and will likely be melted for my next ship purchase. Interesting about the ST. Didn't even notice it until you mentioned it. Maybe it's a straight combat variant with better speed & shields in lieu of the QED and EMP devices? Or maybe ST stands for stealth?
the spirit C1 competitors are the RAFT, the Cutty black and the Freelancer; the Zeus is yes a competitor to the Freelancer max, the Taurus, the Hull-B, the MSR and the Corsair, to be noted that MISC and RSI are competitioning with themselves here, but it follow the same vision... Crusader make HP, fast ship with with alot of fuel to outrun and outlive others; Drake make Glasscanon with less cargo; MISC freelancer are well rounded or the Hull-B is jsut a fully dedicated mule. the Taurus here is more the equivalant to the RAFT here, a turtle with alot more cargo and relying on Turret firepower and shield.
I do have a question about the extra armour plating you said about the CL variant. I have not seen any information about it either in the comm link, pdf files, and the pledge store. Where did you get the information about the extra armour? Is it from the citizencon live presentation?
It's as if I myself made the video expressing my thoughts, particularly the Spirit comparison. I grabbed the Spirit in search of my daily driver, and then CIG tops it completely with this. I had to lock one down. Judging by the Zeus' sleek profile and those nice stabilizers I think the performance might be similar to Spirit.
Sadly. They tried to nerf the CL the next day by saying it'll cover up your component access if it's full, but even if the CL is only half full, it still carries more than the C1
The interesting comparisons do leave out some aspects that are important. The Freelancer DUR appears to be much friendlier for a solo pilot while still allowing a larger crew than the ES. In addition, the four gimbled weapons make the DUR able to handle combat situations better than the ES, while the refinery on the DUR will make an important impact on its actual range. The Freelancer MAX, again, is more friendly for a solo pilot while also allowing for a larger crew than the CL, and the top-mounted turrets on both the DUR and MAX will retain use when landed, while the ventral turret on the Zeus will only be useful for danger close use against infantry and ground vehicles. The Zeus is a beautiful vehicle, and I admit I am considering swapping my RAFT for a CL, but the need for additional crew to make the Zeus function well is making me very hesitant. As always, I advise everyone to wait for the Q&A before buying. Very nicely done review!
The thing with the C1 is it's cheaper now, with the Zeus in its concept reveal sale, and will probably be waay cheaper when they will be both released (I would bet at least a 90/100$ difference by then). So better get one of those ccus right now, just in case
From my understanding the c1 is going to be much faster than its competiton. Filling more of a courier role quickly getting in and out. C1 doesn't need the same shields, and armor because it is much faster and can just run from trouble. Smaller and less components keep it a smaller signature so a more "stealthy" cargo ship. Just a different flavor of cargo than its competitors.
Plus, a smaller crew is an advantage as well (less people to share the profit with, less coordination to get underway). It may also be easier for someone to solo in the future, and I think that may appeal to a lot of people. If we get a better atmospheric flight model, the C1 is likely to be more efficient in that environment as well.
Maybe, the A1 isn't all that fast and I wouldn't expect it to be slower than the C1, it's also not smaller, the C1 is about the same size with 1/3 the cargo. All the wing space is kinda wasted vs the RSI wedge shape that allows bigger internal volume for the same size. Hopefully they can compensate for that somehow.
HI guys, looking for advice… I would like to get an all rounder ship, not too expensive… I saw this ship and thought I could upgrade it from my mustang alpha… Do I still get it with the life insurance even if I get it through upgrade? I was thinking about getting the ES version of it, because I like to play for fun, exploration, some simple missions and chill. Do you think it would be a nice choice or is it too much? Appreciated!
So you won't get the LTI through an upgrade unless the ship you're upgrading from has LTI. That being said I could definitely see the ES or the CL being daily drivers for sure. Definitely consider the cheaper cutlass black though since that ship is still awesome
dang, sad life, I was hoping the two fixed gun can be change to gimbled, also you think any of them can replace the Cutty Blck or the Connie Andro for essentially “multirole” ship. I’m still leaning towards the Connie
They still might be able to be changed, we're not sure yet! Personally I think they should be able to replace the Cutty lineup for multi-role, but the Connies do seem better overall, at the cost of being bigger. The Connie will need more crew though, as will the Zeus compared to the Cutty :)
I'm wondering about escape pods. Will the beds serve as escape pods or will it have actual pods somewhere else? At first I thought the MR might have 3 escape pods opposite the armory; but I'm not sure as the other variants do not have this room.
@@Space-Tech Must be an additional suit locker room then as there's also one just behind the bridge opposite the docking collar. Guess we'll have to wait and see what that area contains. 🙂
Absolutely, the crew requirement is 1-3. So you'll either have your copilot swap between turret and engineering, or with 3 people you can have a deviated person for each role
Question from someone still a bit new to SC. I have the option to upgrade my cutty to the mk2. But how does that work? Is the ship currently flyable in game? And if not do I still keep my cutty until it releases? Iv never upgraded before lol
So to upgrade ships, you purchase what's known as a CCU. These CCUs go from any ship A to any ship B. You can apply this CCU whenever you want. So with your cutty, you could buy the CCU, and choose to not to apply it. If you do apply it, then you will lose access to the Cutty and gain access to the Spirit A1, until the Zeus is implemented in game (about a year or so).
Not sure… The 400i is very fast and has almost three times the shield capacity (4x S2 vs 1x S3). It’s quite a bit more expensive though, but not too much imho. We’ll see, I like the design, but we need to wait a year before we get the ship. Hopefully….
They've said ships with those holographic tables would likely get a buff in terms of sensors over ones that don't. This is referenced in the Odyssey Q&A if you want to check it out. So things like the Carrack and the 400i would have advantages over something like an Odyssey and the Zeus ES (comparing similar sized ships).
After the Cutter Rambler's release, I can say that CIG probably only wants to sell more "original concept" ships. Each new variant makes the pack of all variants a concept sale with LTI. In addition, the ST variant may be directly flight-ready at the same time as all three other Zeus variants without a concept sale. The first sale of the ST variant will have a discount on buying the standalone ship with LTI while the other three Zeus will have flight-ready warbond CCUs.
RIP Spirit… I was very much looking forward to getting my C1 delivered, now I’m going to upgrade it to a Zeus before I even get it. Another interesting thing is that the A1 is the loaner for all Zeus variants at the moment so I guess once the C1 has been released it will be the loaner for the Zeus ES and CL. This all sucks a little since the Spirit is such a good looking ship!
I think the two separate bays in the cargo hold are so that you can freeze bounty’s like in Star Wars. Alternatively there coffins so that you can start your own funeral service plus the ship is even black 😂.
Since this is RSI offering 4 ships like the constellation series and aurora series the Zeus ST has stabilizers so could be for the look but as this is the Connie Phoenix or Aurora LN … I’m going put out there a random thought…maybe this is the explorer data runner version: stabilizer wings and spoilers mapping jump points to help stay in the wormhole, lots of shields, good firepower, computers instead of prisoner cells….and a jacuzzi?
i want to upgrade from a c1 to the zeus to try it when it comes out but if i dont like it do i have to buy another c1? or can i just melt that package and rebuy the c1?
Personally, I grabbed a CCU for the Bounty Hunter variant. Hopefully, you can slave one of the turrets to the pilot as they've added many more roles without the space for any extra crew. As for the ST, maybe Strike? Combat focused variant ?
When you say CCU. Like the end of the video. What does this mean, regarding the logic. Am I right by saying, you buy a ship cloestesr to the price of the ship you actually want to get, and then 'upgrade' to the Zeus? This way if Zeus flops you get store credit close what Zeus is? I'm not sure what difference does it make. Thanks for helping!
CCU is cross chassis upgrade. You can either upgrade a ship you currently own or easier still, in the ship upgrade menu you're able to toggle ships you own or "all ships" select a ship you don't own but is close in price and just pay the $5 or whatever the difference ends up being. then you can just sit on that in your hanger and pay the rest of the price later and still capitalize on the concept price or just melt it down at a later date if you decide you no longer want it. hope that helps@@Matrixomega
@@Matrixomega I think what's being suggested is to pick up a low-priced upgrade from a commonly available ship, and hang onto it, without applying it to anything. This will let you hold onto the ship at its original price, and if you later decide you actually want it, you can buy the ship you're upgrading into the target, and then apply the upgrade. It's kind of like putting down a reserve in case the ship is good, but also keeping it to a low investment for now. I did the same thing for the RSI Galaxy when it was announced, because you could pick up a $5 upgrade to it from an Anvil Valkyrie. I do not have a Valkyrie to upgrade, but if I decide I want the Galaxy, I could build an upgrade chain during IAE or Invictus to get me one at a discount, and then apply the Galaxy CCU to get it at a large discount.
if you ask me, the Corsair is more of a competitor to the MR than anything, sure it doesn't have EMP capabilities but the MR and Corsair are so SO similar, the designs of these 2 ships as a whole are similar.
So I found out the ST in the secret variant means STATUS. So it's going to be a ship that is for luxury. Its why the fancy spoilers and the sunroof. I was hoping for a smuggling ship. Still hoping for it.
@Space-Tech yeah it seems this is the case. They are probably holding on to it for now to sell at a later date being AIE was a huge success. Best not to saturate the market with more ships.
MR very well could be the fastest ver just as the Blue is the fastest of the cutty line. the ST might be a stealth or gunship ver, having the extra turret of the MR, the armor of the CL and the shields of cargo ver
I think the ST, could be a heavy interceptor maybe a stealth ship, but if a stealth ship it would have a higher EM due to the added weapon loadout, it could be maybe a bomber or torpedo ship, which would make the turret on top a needed aspect for the loadout
RSI is one of the in-lore manufacturers that has produced military-issue ships. could the ST be a military issue Zeus? also, where did you find the image with 4 Zeuses? the Zeus page on the RSI website only has 3.
It was an image that was apparently uploaded in place of the one with 3 ships, I wasn't able to catch it myself but folks across other discords did catch it
What is this? A clear, concise, accurate, informative, and short Star Citizen video? Is that even allowed?
YEAH much better than the bold/bored guy

Yeah, Space-Tech does a great job with his videos and works hard to compete all the other Tubers.
Totally agree! I think I have to watch it again.

My guess is that the Zeus ST was the stealth combat variant, and they chose not to add it because stealth is broken or not working currently.
Another option is a data runner, not added for similar reasons

Yeah, I really don't see this being a issue tbh, but it'll depend on what components are there and how often they need repair
@@Space-Tech even filling the zues half way you still have more scus than the c1.
Exactly. Unnecessary nerf, but also pretty meaningless in the C1 conversation imo
I don't see exactly why you've deemed the c1 irrelevant with the Zeus, it seems to fill the upper end of its size and with the 4 size 3s and faster speeds in the c1 it seems to be more multi role focused as with the Zeus more specialised and less multi role.. I do agree the one entry is such a weird creature comfort for crusader to skip out on but I don't see multi role pilots giving up on the c1
god that thing looks gorgeous. I love the white and black on the ES variant, looks very much like near future spaceplane designs
I'll definitely be including the 400i in the full review when the ship releases!
Don't forget the mapping holo table in the back of the 400i
400i is quite a bit longer, requires a bigger landing pad, still can't hold a wheeled vehicle with an enclosed cab, and is $100 more expensive.
Cheers o7
The 400i needs slightly more storage and slightly better guns imo and then it's perfect.
The Zeus is such an insult to the spirit series
You would think that RSI would make a ship that would fit iits own vehicles it makes. So I hope the URSA does fit. Great video, next year will definitely be RSI's year. Just need that connie rework!
I'd really like to think an URSA will fit in the CL at least! There are going to be some incredible things coming soon! Thanks for the support :)
Dude your videos are the best. Full stop. Something about how you relay data really makes it stick in my brain. I love your content, thank you for your efforts
That means a lot, thank you so much! Glad you find the videos helpful :)
Let's not forget that the constellation series will be getting a gold standard pass at some point. I can see the Aquila getting a size 3 scanner as well at that point since all three variants are listed with a size 2 currently and the former is replacing an entire turret for a better scanner.
That's definitely possible, a lot of fleets are going to get disrupted when they go back through the old ships
Can never go wrong using store credit!
Real shame about the arbitrary control of the qed/emp
@jde-jj1lu eh I'm not too worried about that, it's a 1 to 3 person ship which is soon to start to mean something. Major ship reworks coming.
That said the design aesthetics, abilities, and medium sized ships being the perfect size for so much variety in the game have me excited for the series
@@jde-jj1lulet’s see what ‘AI Blades’ can do … maybe we can solo a lot of these ships with a few of them.
Hey, I'll say congrats to CIG for a great day 1 for CitCon, but also Gratz to you. Great content!
Thanks! Citcon is going great :)
I'm upgrading my Raft to the Zeus ES. This was very helpful. Thank you!
Nice! I'm glad you found the video useful, thanks for the comment :)
I'm thinking the same, the star roof :D
Great video, you have a very effective style. I really hope the Zeus gets released for Invictus next month and we can hear your review on it. Thanks!
I think there's a decent chance we see the Zeus soon! Thanks so much, you'll definitely hear my thoughts on it!
@@Space-Tech Wow! replying 5 months later!

Purchased a Z-MK II MR. Currently flying the A1 loaner. Hope it releases soon along with updated bounty hunter missions! Fingers crossed
Or maybe it is a military alternative going for stealth, trading off armour for a lower signature and higher speed and agility?
awesome video man!!! short and clear, this is premium content
That's incredibly nice of you to say! Thank you so much :) Glad you found it useful
Cutlass blue is solo-able for QED, and I feel like it will be more maneuverable.
For now, that might change.
Maybe, but since, at first glance, crewman 2 and 3 are turret gunners, it seems QD and EMP fall to the pilot.
I agree the Blue is likely more agile.
Blue is probably faster
@@Kyle-sr6jmPossible, but we have to account for master modes as well so SCM speed is the default comparison in that case.
@@BetterThanLifeProdHope so
Well I didnt expect a video that tell me everything I need to know in like 10 minutes.
Thank you, I've always tried to keep things concise and to the point!
@@Space-Tech yeah you have a point about the marketing, but the second turret still make the ship only for two probable uses :
A- combat
B- VIP transport
12:24 ST stands for 'Status' it literally says it on screen at the time stamp.. ✌️
Cleverly the slide came up at the exact time they were talking about the status of the Zeus, so while likely I'm not sure 100% 🤔
@@Space-Tech Every other ship has its name marked up in the same font and same location in the same font size on each of the other varinets.. 😉
Thanks for a great video! I’m leaning towards the ST being a luxury variant like the Phoenix and limited sales.
I would bet on a stealth (ST) variant instead.
Maybe with some datarunning/hacking stuff baked into it as well.
As an RSI ship, it's not crazy to think they'd have a Phoenix equivalent!
@@Space-Techjust look at the windows on the cargo bay location. Nice call @ir8dudefpv
Across from the armory on the MR is likely going to be for prisoner pods. Right?
It was confirmed that it was just more suit lockers!
Yes I got all three just for the reasons you laid out. Plus I am down sizing my fleet. With engineering around the corner. It’s going be hard to solo larger ships
I think engineering is going to be a wake up call for a lot of people
@@velocitymgI think once AI crew is added this will be less of an issue
@@velocitymg I agree, but it will make it more doable than before. Still not ideal over a real crew!
This looks so much like the ships I used to draw as a kid in school.
It's the Elite's Viper... but less armed. Size-wise at least. . I'd like to try it or buy it, but not while in concept.
I'm keeping my C1 Spirit but I'm selling my Freelancer Dur unless it get a rework the same way the Cutlass black got.
Did you grab the ES? Gratz!
In the exact same boat… but I’m having trouble saying goodbye to the DUR, it has a place in my heart and hope it gets a rework
@@JizzyNinja that's why I'm keeping mine and waiting for a year before taking a choice :)
Appreciate the support!
I picked up all three, however um waiting to for a starter pack warbond with LTI.
Needless to say my favorite ship thus far.
Got my Zeus MR already, hope it turns out well. I don’t like the NEED for additional teammates though
Who knows maybe they'll surprise us and give one of em to the pilot
Hopefully the MR will be more agile than its variants, which frankly is a force multiplier both defensive and offensively. I ended up with an MR and ES but all three variants seem great and unique. Nice work, really enjoying this vid! As to pricing I will not be surprised if there’s a significant hike on release. Also guessing about the ST: If it has a top turret I’m going to guess it’s a pure combat variant with no intention of capture, perhaps trading the emp and dampener for the defensive qualities of the CL and ES.
He has additional windows at the cargo Bay so I guess it’s a VIP shuttle variant.
@@victor6814or perhaps a Phoenix equivalent, aka James Bond esque. Internals more akin to a nicer ES, guns like the MR…
The Zeus appears to be perfect competitors for the Cutlass and Freelancer series of ships.
No it's gonna be almost 200 dollars and the cutlass and freelancer are 100
more like the competitor needs to include the corsair with the type of price difference here.
with a few upgrades to weapons and shields the mr should be able to take on vhrts i reckon
That would be interesting for sure
In the MR, the room in front of the weapon locker would be nice to have a small tier 3 med bed.
Appreciate it! Hope you enjoy the A1 in the mean time!
I think I'll be picking up a ccu from my dur, and max for the cl and es.
CCUs are definitely the way to do it
Not sure if im right but it appears that the st has windows on top, it might be an vip person carrier something like those armoured luxury suv's.
I couldn't quite tell but you may be on to something here, this would be the phoenix of the series :)
Picked up the CL and the MR, cant wait to try them out
When the Zeus CL arrived, it turned my Spirit C1 into an LTI token even before I ever flew it.
Can someone explain the logic of buying a random ship and upgrading to Zeus Vs just buying the Zeus outright? Thanks in advance!
The idea is to lock in the price of the Zeus by getting a cheap upgrade to the ship but NOT applying the upgrade. So you only buy the upgrade, no other ship. Then you can apply when the ship comes out, and if you don't like it you're only out the amount you paid for the upgrade
@@Space-Tech so for example if I bought xyz ship and don't apply upgrade. Do I still get loaner in game now? I assume no
No you don't, you don't own any ship, only the upgrade to it. I will say, I'd get a CCU from a ship that is usually available on the store
There was a slip up in stream that showed the webpage that listed Racing as 4th (just below that picture with the ST that you showed).
We'll have to see in the Q and A if that gets asked! I think the MR is likely going to need at least 2 crew though
I wasn’t really hyped for this ship, but after watching your vidi, I picked one up with store credit. I also thought that MISC came with 4 gimbaled size 3 weapons?
Can never go wrong with credit! Also you're 100% right they are size 3s, thanks for the catch!
I thought the exact same thing
The Oct 2023 issue of Jump Point shows 3D interior of CL with 120 SCU..
Yes the Crusader C1 Spirit is pointless before it even comes out. I wonder what percentage of them got melted this week.
I believe the ST could mean Stealth...
Best way to keep things quiet, is to go loud! That does make sense though a stealth / data runner would be cool
@@Space-Tech If you look at ST's beautiful butt you can see spoiler. I think its there to make the ship look similar to other 3 but I think it has no cargo.....
Yeah it’s definitely too chonky for sports
Can never go wrong with CCUs! Really cool to see you here! I'm sure they'll reveal the ST at IAE or IFW next year!
the spirit C1 competitors are the RAFT, the Cutty black and the Freelancer;
the Zeus is yes a competitor to the Freelancer max, the Taurus, the Hull-B, the MSR and the Corsair, to be noted that MISC and RSI are competitioning with themselves here,
but it follow the same vision...
Crusader make HP, fast ship with with alot of fuel to outrun and outlive others;
Drake make Glasscanon with less cargo;
MISC freelancer are well rounded or the Hull-B is jsut a fully dedicated mule.
the Taurus here is more the equivalant to the RAFT here, a turtle with alot more cargo and relying on Turret firepower and shield.
I do have a question about the extra armour plating you said about the CL variant. I have not seen any information about it either in the comm link, pdf files, and the pledge store. Where did you get the information about the extra armour? Is it from the citizencon live presentation?
Haven't seen any info also. Hard to think that MR doesn't have armor if the other two have.
Unfortunately it was just said in passing on stage during citizen con, once they upload the vod you can check it out there!
Hahaha glad you found some resonance here, which one did you settle on, the CL?
So the C1 spirit is larger, but carries a fraction of the cargo of a Zeus CL?
Especially with credit, can't go wrong with a CCU
The st is a stealth version
The Zeus is everything I wanted the Constellation to be with a way more aggressive profile.
dang, sad life, I was hoping the two fixed gun can be change to gimbled, also you think any of them can replace the Cutty Blck or the Connie Andro for essentially “multirole” ship.
Yeah I'm really not sure, maybe the suit locker room?
@@Space-Tech Must be an additional suit locker room then as there's also one just behind the bridge opposite the docking collar. Guess we'll have to wait and see what that area contains. 🙂
Can a zeus cl ship be played comfortably as a solo (and sometimes with another crew member)?
Absolutely, the crew requirement is 1-3. So you'll either have your copilot swap between turret and engineering, or with 3 people you can have a deviated person for each role
@@Space-Tech thank you for the answer! I meant to say though , as a solo (for the most part) or maybe with 2 total crew members
For the near future? 100% it's about the same size as the C1 which is for 1-2 people. This is especially true for the non combat jobs
The Drake Corsair is also an Explorationship with an extra Scanner..
Loved this video when you released it. You should do an update now that we have the Zeus out and a year-ish of the Spirit.
Thank you brother that clears it up. I didn’t realize they would give me a A1 in the meantime before the mk launches that’s actually pretty cool.
Anytime :) remember that this only happens if you apply the CCU, so you can purchase it before deciding to apply it if you wish
In comparing the exploration varient I think you neglected the 400i as a comparison. I'm ditching mine for this I think!
I was torn on whether or not to include the 400i, I'll definitely keep this in mind for the full review when the ship releases!
I wonder if the CL will have a gun rack? My only concern 😂
I'd hope so, but obviously no guarantees until it's in our hands!
I am definitely getting one, but i cant decide whether i want the ES or CL
Depends on what you already have, and what gameplay you want!
Since this is RSI offering 4 ships like the constellation series and aurora series the Zeus ST has stabilizers so could be for the look but as this is the Connie Phoenix or Aurora LN …
I’m going put out there a random thought…maybe this is the explorer data runner version: stabilizer wings and spoilers mapping jump points to help stay in the wormhole, lots of shields, good firepower, computers instead of prisoner cells….and a jacuzzi?
Looking at your interior diagram, how can this possibly be smaller in scale to the spirit, its baffling me. It looks more shy of a corsair sized ship
Seriously, goes to show how much wasted space there in the Spirits
Spirits just have massive wings. The actual crew compartment is tiny
i want to upgrade from a c1 to the zeus to try it when it comes out but if i dont like it do i have to buy another c1? or can i just melt that package and rebuy the c1?
You can melt the Zeus and buy back your C1 from buybacks if the C1 itself wasn't an upgrade, but it's possible the C1 becomes an always available ship
@@Space-Tech ok thanks for the reply
Personally, I grabbed a CCU for the Bounty Hunter variant. Hopefully, you can slave one of the turrets to the pilot as they've added many more roles without the space for any extra crew.
As for the ST, maybe Strike? Combat focused variant ?
Harder to go wrong with a CCU! A strike variant would be really cool
Super well written, thanks for helping out!
if you ask me, the Corsair is more of a competitor to the MR than anything, sure it doesn't have EMP capabilities but the MR and Corsair are so SO similar, the designs of these 2 ships as a whole are similar.
Triangle ships unite!
So I found out the ST in the secret variant means STATUS. So it's going to be a ship that is for luxury. Its why the fancy spoilers and the sunroof. I was hoping for a smuggling ship. Still hoping for it.
Sounds like the Phoenix equivalent!
@Space-Tech yeah it seems this is the case. They are probably holding on to it for now to sell at a later date being AIE was a huge success. Best not to saturate the market with more ships.
Great video. I like the look of them all. I think they each offer a lot for the role they serve.
Agreed, none of them seem like a bad fit for their role
MR very well could be the fastest ver just as the Blue is the fastest of the cutty line. the ST might be a stealth or gunship ver, having the extra turret of the MR, the armor of the CL and the shields of cargo ver
Website says that the MR has a size 3 shield
Unfortunately the matrix is wrong far more often than it's right. The brochure, transmission, and Citcon presentation all say that it's 3 size 2s
I expect the ST to be unveiled during Invictus Launch Week in May. The ST appears to be a military focused ship and ILW just seems fitting.
I think the ST, could be a heavy interceptor maybe a stealth ship, but if a stealth ship it would have a higher EM due to the added weapon loadout, it could be maybe a bomber or torpedo ship, which would make the turret on top a needed aspect for the loadout
The fourth variant graphic calls it the ‘Zeus Status’, which suggests a luxury touring vehicle.
Agreed. Definitely feels like the little brother to the Phoenix!
RSI is one of the in-lore manufacturers that has produced military-issue ships. could the ST be a military issue Zeus?
also, where did you find the image with 4 Zeuses? the Zeus page on the RSI website only has 3.
It was an image that was apparently uploaded in place of the one with 3 ships, I wasn't able to catch it myself but folks across other discords did catch it
Maybe, I really love my Freelancer Max. I will wait to see the actual performance of the ship before making a switch.
