Absolutely love Kuiu, everything from daily clothing to really pushing it in the field. My only complaint is the sizing. Sizing is ALL. OVER. the place. An XL fits in the chest but then the arms can be forever long depending on the garment. Pants have been by far the most challenging causing me to all but give up on adding more pants to my lineup. None fit the same, model to model.

I purchased nearly everything you did and I'm about to head out this weekend with it all for the first time. Super excited to give it a go. The quality of all these pieces are absolutely top notch. Wanted to toss my comment on here to corroborate the sizing. Typically, I would wear 34 waist pants, and Large in tops of just about anything. For these, I ordered all my normal sizes, but ended up returning the outer layers for one size up. It's like, if I was only ever going to wear a jacket of theirs like around town, or for certain with zero layering ever, my normal size would be great and it would fit like a glove. But, if I'm going to need to layer anything, that's where they tend to get a little tight. So exactly like Nate here, I wear a 34 in pants, but the 36 (both Encounter and Proximity) fit me perfectly with a little room to layer. And I wear a Large, but the XL (both Encounter and Proximity again) fits me perfect with room to layer as well. I think that's my final takeaway - if it's an outer layer, size up 1 size. If you're buying a jacket or piece to wear around town, get your normal size and it will be perfect for that. Good video!

I watched solely to find out about the scent control aspect since they are vague on the website, and zero mention about it here either? Is there no scent control protection? I would think with a whitetail line that would be at the top of discussion? If they do please make a video explaining in detail abt what specifically is used and how it works. Thanks

Just like the rest of their gear, their whitetail line is odor resistant. Any “scent control protection” that other brands are advertising is the same. We stink too much for it to matter!

I love kuiu but i cant wear there pants in the saddle. Everytime I do the side hip vent zipper pinches between my hip and saddle. Its a great feature that i love but not in the saddle.

Wonder which area you hunt. I live in northern Alberta and the proximity would be considered mid season stuff at best. -25 to -30 Celsius makes for some ridiculously hard cold sits

We hunt Nebraska/Kansas. We have to layer with it late season.

5:41 Love the proximity and the encounter set. I have them both. The encounter pants fit like my attacks. The proximity pants are tighter in the leg and waist then the attacks I find. Love the pocket setup on the encounter pants and jacket. I think the encounter is way better then my guide jacket. Downside on the proximity is the outer fabric could be thicker in my opinion. I think kuiu did a great job overall and I look forward to the added items to the line or the updates. Also to add kuiu updated the suspenders on the proximity pants as they use to come unhooked. I like that I can wear my kenai under either jacket or my down vest and push both later in the season without the bulk like my first lite solitude or sanctuary which I sold. Mind you mine was not the 2.0.

How are the encounter pants for walking ?
sometimes we’re putting on 10 12 miles per day even before we hit the tree stand

They have been good. Super comfy, no issues with walking. They have the hip vents to dump heat. I have large legs and there is no restrictions. Plus you can unzip the bottoms to dump more heat. Plus I like the suspender option.

Great video, thank you! I'm looking for windproof, no mention here unless I missed it. Are both of these models windproof like the Sitka Stratus? Thanks!

So what would you say the gear is rated for without base layers and then with base layers?

Do you layer the encounter under the proximity in the late season?

I’ll throw that under sometimes. But also use their other base layers too. I like the encounter vest late season for sure.

Do they pickup burrs and stick tights?

    • @IdenticalDraw
      @IdenticalDraw  9 месяцев назад

No more or less than any other hunting pant.

should have watched longer before I asked the question.

Yeah they are very comparable to other camo we have worn when it comes to burrs. Maybe just a hair harder to remove due to the fleece.
