My first guitar was a 6 string Jackson JS32 dinky with a tune-O-matic bridge. This video reminded me of the first time seeing it sometime back in 2013, the flamed maple veneer was beautiful for something I paid under $200 cad for. I had to sell it a few years back, I wish I still had it.
Thanks for sharing! Everyone regrets selling their first guitar. I put stickers all over mine when I was a teen so thankfully it was not sellable and I still own it
was just talking about how i sold my first bass rig; gK 800rb bass head with 2 peavy 4x10 cabs (thats right TWO haha)....... and my G&L L2000....... had to sell that too so i could pay rent in college... :( BUT, ive since bought another G&L in honor of the first :) we all regret selling
First impression is very good, it's nicely made and a very good mod-upgrade chassis too. This would normally sell at $3-400, don't you think? But all the builders have a lot of excess inventory and 7-strings are probably not in high demand. Maybe a few folks will add a nice basic 7-string to the collection for variety while they're cheap. $150 for this Jackson is a great deal.
When I bought the Jackson JS22-7 DKA HT a few years ago it was also on sale for around $150. Regular price for these is around $200. But yeah, there's definitely lots of inventory sitting around. The inspection date on this one is October 2022! haha
Just ordered the satin version of this, along with the new Seymour Duncan Nazgûl rail bridge pickup. Should sound pretty damn good. Tuners will be next to mod
These guitars are usually hit or miss. I got 1 of the early models and went through 2 of them before finding a decent one. They had QC issues mainly the bridge being placed wrong. Fast forward 2024 I sold that jackson long ago and got a 2024 model and same issue. The bridge was placed wrong so I ended up returning that and getting a different one. But gotta say for what you pay for these guitars are solid once you get a good one. One of the things thats somewhat better is the nut, the early models used a very cheap soft plastic one but these newer nuts are somewhat better.
Oh, nice, thanks for sharing your experience! I've had 2 of the cheap Jackson 7 strings and so far both have been pretty good. What do you mean about the bridge being placed wrong? Do you mean it was misaligned or impossible to intonate or something else?
Ur quite lucky lol, the bridge placement was misalineged with the neck so it tilted further towards the low be side. This would cause the string to slip off whenever playing anything above the 8 fret. It was pretty bad.
in the same price category there's harley benton baritone 7-string, which is far superior (not the pickups, they are mediocre too), but kids nowadays pay for the sticker on the headstock. Arch top, locking tuners, neck through body, satin finish, string through, baritone (better tension). graphite nut.. so yeah
Depending on what you plan to play, 7 strings don't have the string variety of 6 strings, at least here in Germany. You can't easily buy sets of 0.12s and 0.13s as you can do for 6 strings. I have to buy Ernie Balls Regular 8 string set to get the needed thickness to put one of my two 7 strings in G standard. So you can learn on them but you'll have to pay more for strings, like 11€ instead of 6, if this is something you have to consider

@@ArtOfShredYT Well there you go. Still a lot for the money and a good starter 7-string.

A- arch top
M - maple fret board
7- 7 string
🤘

Nice Vid and cool 7 string guitar! Thanks for showing us and congrats on the score man!
Trey:)
Thank you, Trey!
Oh man it's sadly not available in EU or I'd have snagged one. I love maple fretboards and there are very very few in that price range.

@@anhedonia0 oh damn! I have not seen that, but yeah that's pretty bad haha
Put a Nazgul, Hipshot bridge, pots and tuners. Sounds great. Night and Day.
Nice upgrades for sure

With shipping the Harley Benton is about twice the price but the specs definitely look good
Nice for the money 👍
It ain't bad at all so far!
Why not start on a 7 string, you have to go to learning process on both, and you have a regular 6 string underneath the lowest string.
I wouldn't recommend that, but it is doable
