Since when was a 2-3lb carp big my lake has fish to 20lb so I have to fish big hooks and line in 3-4ft margins but it is very good fishing

The title was deep edges 2' 6” is not deep. Where I fish it's 3'6” to 4'6”. Now that's deep let's have one for that.
I fished a match at a fishery called Ryecroft at Hemington Derby last weekend and could find a margin less than 5ft 😢 so i found a nice plateau and caught 228lb a won the match, not what drpth ideally id of liked but it worked.
Hi Matty me and me dad have been twice in this wet winter to monkhall and fished swallow for practice but came away no wiser because next saturday 06/04/2024 were on the swallow. Went today it was tench after tench plus gudgeon and a few nice F1,s plus 2 rain showers the second was proper stop fishing hold your brolley theres no cover. Anyway im asking as a fellow angler and im up against better fisherman than me where would you like to draw and would you just use maggots or pellets. I fished peg 20 today why because i was lazy but where are the good pegs on swallow and the right approach im fishing against better anglers than me but if i can get an edge i thought matty is the bloke to ask.
two and a half foot a deep margin???? I was thinking more like four to five feet would be classed as a deep margin.
Why do you put your box so close to the edge. Doesn't make any sense whatsoever to me .
For multiple reasons. I'm pleasure angler but got box with footplate right close to edge. It's better all around for keepnet, fish further out with less pole sections stops lines snagging on platforms etc etc etc
Had enough after 5mins absolutely nothing explained.
