    I use the micros the same way at venues i fish where i can't use groundbait (silly rule when i use ground pellet mixes anyway), sloppy pellets with corn or a bunch of maggots over the top is killa. I always use molasses in my water and sometimes spicy curry powder and chilli. Sweet n spicy pellets.

    I knew you would enjoy Monkhall we had a chat about it when I met you at Larford. As for the pellets when I went I asked about the pellets you don't have to buy theirs but they said you must use Coarse Fishery style pellets such as Skrettings. I can't comment on Jamie using Sonus baits. Always found the staff at Monkhall helpful when I asked about bait. Great venue.

      HI Charlie, Sonu pellets are allowed as they are a coarse feed pellet. Usually when a fishery says this they are referring to trout or halibut pellets that take a long time to break down and often the fish (being not used to them) don't digest them as easily.

    I'm really struggling to catch in the last couple of hours of a match. the other day I ended up with a landing net which had actually dried out over the last two hours. I try lots of different tactics in the margins, but I've become a serial blanker. hopefully, this will help me (fingers crossed). thanks Jamie.

      Me too. I have figured out where I am going wrong with the help of this video. The hint about the fish's nose bumping into your line is crucial. I have been using a plumb to set the bait at dead depth. I need to lay hooklength on bottom. Jamie and Andy talk a lot about the curve in your rig. I didn't get what they were hinting at, but now I understand.

    • @MegaVinny73
      @MegaVinny73 Год назад

      Easy fix for the dry landing net, just dip it in the water every 30 mins or so. You're probably trying too many things in the final couple of hours, and overthinking it. But, read the conditions and keep it to basics, educate yourself on the swim and depths you are targeting early on. Don't over feed to try get a bite either, keep the fish competing for the feed. And don't try too many methods to try force it.

    • @Sonubaits
      @Sonubaits  Год назад

      Hi Jon,
      We hope you're well over in America!
      The setup is all balanced, so the wire guage of the hook, the line/monofilament strength and the elastic that cushions the lunges of the fish within the top section of Jamie's pole. This prevents breakages, helps prevent hook pulls and reduces the chance of any element of the rig/setup failing. Hope this helps.

    • @Jon-nz3dm
      @Jon-nz3dm Год назад

      @@Sonubaits What is the elastic product used in the video?

    • @baldrickscunningplan6154
      @baldrickscunningplan6154 Год назад

      We fish with longer softer rods, and elasticated Poles. I've done a fair bit of Bass fishing in Florida. I tried to mix European methods with American methods. Ie, Lighter lines, Lighter lures,longer rod, and smaller Hooks. It did work in open water, where there aren't many snags. It was great for fishing with Shiners, but I did get pestered a lot with small Gars. I amazed some of your American buddies that you could get away with using such light gear to eek out shy biting fish.
      A big draw back for you is the size of lines you are using. The Bass can see those lines.
      However, Bass live in very snaggy waters, and hit the baits hard. So, it is perfectly understandable why you use heavier lines and bigger Hooks.

      I agree in principle Anthony. That's not what I would call fishing. However, these commercial fisheries are now the venue choice of the modern match angler. Having said that, I would rather catch 2lb of roach from a natural water, than 200lb of battered carp from a piss pond like this.

    • @AnthonyWilliams-ew3wp
      @AnthonyWilliams-ew3wp Год назад +2

      @@pleasantville4529 well said. I fish my club’s over 60’s matches on three estate lakes here in Norfolk. Catching six pounds of wild roach, Rudd and skimmers will invariably put you in the top three. And is immensely satisfying in a beautiful natural lake setting. I loathe the commercial fisheries. Fishing them must be as boring as heck.
