    As someone who deal with the Liquid Metal dry spots issue on the APU on my PS5 and overheating and turning off, I am very happy to see the grooves in the Liquid Metal heatsink.

    • @C0smicr3aper

      It was from keeping it vertical, was it not? Something Sonys engineers should have foresaw and mitigated way sooner being that the damn thing is sold as a vertical standing console.

      @@C0smicr3aper I did keep it vertical, which I do think exacerbated the problem. Ultimately I think that the Liquid Metal was undersupplied on my PS5, it was a CFI1200 model, the 6nm one that was the last one before the slim. There is no doubt about it, the Liquid Metal pooled at the bottom and left a hot spot on my chip that you could visually see when disassembled, burn marks and all. It would overheat pretty rapidly at the end, the fans would get SCREAMING loud, and the air that would be blown out the back would be cold, since the heat wasn't able to leave the chip and reach the heatsink. It did work fine for about 13 months, and I think I used it for maybe 100 hours or so over that timeframe and it was ridiculously clean.
      I think it would have lasted longer horizontal, but that the under application of liquidmetal was the fundamental flaw with my PS5. Lots of other people have experienced it, but far, far more have kept theirs vertical for far longer with no issues.

      Ya, cause if it affects the date and time when removed. Then the system would t be able to match and verify the date/Time the product was purchased.
      Kinda like back in the day old school PC games u could adjust the PC time which in some games would affect in game time. Therefore being able to “Jump ahead” a TON of times and gather items or whatever.

    Accessibility is big thing for PS5 owners who like to keep their console clean since the only removable stuff was the plates and fan for cleaning . Dust would accumilate on the heat sink which was buried within the base model. I'm so glad they've changed that with Pro with easy to access components and improved air flow that should prevent overheating.

    • @RedPillAlways

      To prove that this is speculation, we need to prove the opposite. The facts about the additional heat pipes, their proven efficiency in heat transfer, and the heavier cooling system strongly suggest an improvement in thermal management for the PS5 Pro. These design upgrades are engineering solutions typically used to enhance cooling performance. So, at the moment, we can prove the fact of the presence of additional heat pipes and the greater weight of the cooling system. Thank you.

    • @howfixit
      @howfixit  Месяц назад

      Воздушного охлаждения для PS5 Pro достаточно, потому что консоль разработана инженерами с учётом определённых тепловых ограничений и оптимизирована для работы с воздушной системой. Консольное APU имеет более низкое энергопотребление и тепловыделение по сравнению с топовыми комплектующими для ПК, которые требуют более мощного охлаждения. В мире ПК рекомендации AIO часто связаны с маркетингом и стремлением продемонстрировать преимущества топового железа.

      @Tony_Re-imagined You can downplay the PS5 Pro as much as you can, it has more graphic potential. The GPU was increased by 45%. (look at FFVII Rebirth !) It's totally obvious on patched games and it will be more and more obvious for the incoming games that will be natively patched to use the PS5 Pro extra power. The PS5 Pro is a PS5 so like the PS4 Pro, it will not have exclusive games, another obvious fact... 🙄 However this will be enhanced version of these games, you can cope all you want it does not matter if you like that idea or not. 😉 Is the OG PS5 still a good console ? Yes of course. PS5 Pro is not mandatory but it will provide a better PS4/5 game experience until the PS6. I gave away my OG PS5 to my son and games are still amazing on it but on a capable TV set will all the HDMI 2.1 features, I enjoy even more my PS5 Pro. 😉

      @Tony_Re-imagined Месяц назад +2

      @ogamitaicho77 props to you for giving your son your og PS5, but I just don't have the money to get a PS5 pro. I would get it to future proof any future games and save money but right now selling my PS5 for its original price AND paying 250 dollars more for mediocre performance at best, just won't do it for typical consumers such as myself.

    • @ogamitaicho77
      @ogamitaicho77 Месяц назад +2

      @Tony_Re-imagined@@Tony_Re-imagined I totally understand for the money issue, but you can not talk about "mediocre performance at best" for the PS5 Pro comparing OG PS5, that just delusional... 🙄 PS5 Pro is a niche device, work better of course if you have the proper Hdmi 2.1 screen with its features... 😅

      @JDRoss716 you think? It's being held in place by the flimsy side panel and thermal putty. Also, it's an inefficient design since you have 3 different layers between the heatpipes and the heat source.
      Was it to much to ask to have it screwed in place and with the heatpipes making direct contact with the vrms like in the base model? Like... I know they have to cut costs but this is just sloppy.

    Dear How-FixIT on a 7th minute you said about dedicated memory for games & backgrounds operations, sorry but you wrong!, in PS5 PRO only 13,7GB GDDR6 dedicated to developing for games other 2,3GB GDDR6 & 2GB of DDR5 for backgrounds operations. & That's not all in PS5 base 12,5GB GDDR6 for games developing, another 3,5GB for backgrounds operations plus you forgot about 512MB DDR4 in SSD controller for backgrounds operations!
    In a real calculations - we have increase in 1,2GB GDDR6 dedicated for game developing & plus 1,5GB DDR5(not DDR4) for backgrounds operations.
    PS5 base/vanilla still got it 💪😁

Since there’s this thing called core binning in processor industry, they could just sell a same device and market it as a better SoC performance, but in reality it’s the same SoC and same architecture but with a better Core Yield. 😅

    Can someone please help me out here. I purchased a circular mesh dust filter to go on top of the fan but I've noticed there are two fan openings, one on the top of the PS5 Pro, and one on the bottom of the PS5 Pro near the expandable SSD slot. Which side does the air get pulled in? The top fan opening? Or the bottom fan opening? I don't want to put the mesh screen over the area where the air blows out because then essentially it will trap the dust inside correct? Or do both sides of the fan opening sucking air and then it is blown out the back? I'm so confused.
