PSA & CORRECTION: The damage output for the Ancient Battle Axe++ with the modifiers is incorrectly' calculated in this video. I apologize for not going back through my notes and double checking before posting.
60 * 1.8 * 1.5 = 162 Damage per swing
That is still a ton of damage, and there is a possibility of finding an Axe that does up to 74 base damage increasing this output even further.
To compare, the Barbarian set does not stack with high-level attack-boosting recipes, so you will only ever get the 50% bonus. Meaning even if you use a 102 damage Savage Lynel Crusher your damage output would be: 102 * 1.5 = 150. This is still less than the damage done in this video.
If you use a 110 attack royal guard claymore its 110 x 1.5 = 165. Also doesn't require your bananas.
Been having trouble with those lynels, at 31 hits, not too shabby for using fully upgraded ancient armor and the level 4 guardian weapons. x1.8 and x1.5 and can use attack boosts over that? This is the kind of power I need in this game, straight to ganon. The mighty steamed fruit is the 1.5x buff, but what recipe?

There are a lot of "how to" videos on killing Lynels using perfect reflexes to dodge and parry which some of us just don't have and often results in getting multiple shields smashed and using up fairies and health potions. TWO thumbs up on this one for a much easier method that works a lot better for those of us whom don't have good at reflexes when facing such tough, difficult enemies as Lynels!
I don't have good reflexes but dodging is a matter of practice
1. Actually practice your reflexes.
2. Get better shields and actually parry.
3. Learn the lynel’s attacks.
So you want to just be able to have benefit without practice? I suck at most video games and I was terrible at getting flurry rushes, but I practiced on weaker enemies and now I can do them no problem. They’re very helpful against lynels.
Perfect reflexes? Flurry rush dodge window is fucking like 4 seconds
but you still have to make critical shot every time when Lynel attacking you))

Remember that you can pull out your bow when you jump off a lynel's back! This gives you the slow-mo midair bow animation that'll get you a few more criticals while you're at it 👍

WOW!!!... This is one of the best videos I have seen on killing Lionel's. Let it be known, first of all, there are many ways to take down Lionel's- difficult ways and easy ways.... we all know this.
But this is a very easy way to take down a Lionel without any damage to yourself, any damage to your weapon, and without much loss of arrows! You explained this perfectly step by step. Great job-- wonderful video!!! I cannot see why anyone would give this a thumbs down ...that's ridiculous. anyone who does, doesn't understand the video or is a damn troll with no common sense and has no point to prove.

You can use even less arrows (4) if you wait until the exact moment the stasis runs out to fire. You can mount them every time then and it removes the need to hit them the 2nd time always allowing you to mount them from a proper shock. Also... Many of the Lynel locations have hills around them so you can glide in and start the battle using the bow from the air for a really easy 1st shot stun and jump straight on the Lynel. For those Lynel without high ground to jump from you can just use Revalis gale to initiate the fight. No need for the soft save use. Add to this the use of a 5 shot bow and you can get the kill time down to about 30 seconds :)
FYI, you can crit home on the back of the head after being thrown off

I’ve still got some work to do when it comes to arrow accuracy, but this has made a WORLD of difference in my attacks! I’ve killed 5 lynels now, 1 without having to use urbosas fury! Thank you!!
You don't need to hit a critical shot when he is in stasis. A shot anywhere on his body will stun him if he's frozen in stasis. Pretty awesome that you don't lose durability if you hit him while mounted, I never noticed that before.
But if you dont shoot at his face, how to mount him?
There are two different stuns. The stun from when you hit him in the face, and the stun from hitting him while he's in stasis. You can only mount him after stunning him from a regular face shot. You'll notice he hits him when he is in stasis then runs up to him and immediately shoots in the face after he comes out of stasis stun. Then he mounts him. You still have to shoot him in the face, just not during stasis. Because you only 1.5 seconds to hit him during stasis, its easier to just aim anywhere on his body rather than try to get hit in the face. Body shots and critical hits have same effect during stasis.

The funny thing of this is that I didn’t even watch this video until now, and I’ve been using this strategy since yesterday (albeit with different weapons). The weapons that I currently use are the Savage Lynel Club, the Savage Lynel Bow, and the Fierce Deity Set for additional power. Before that my first fight with a Silver Lynel was pretty difficult: I had a Royal Claymore at 72 power (about to break), and the Forest Dweller Bow. Also recommended: If you have plenty of arrows, you can start the fight with an aerial attack shooting plenty of arrows at its head during bullet time. Once you have the Savage Lynel weapons, the fights become much more manageable, and once you get the hang of it, the fights become pretty fun.

I can't see my hours because my Nintendo account isn't linked but I've done all 4 beasts, 94 shrines, 22 hearts, full stamina, master sword, etc. and have only killed 2 lynel because I'm so afraid. They seriously terrify me lol.

Thank you for the very thorough videos and explanations. I was going to just avoid fighting any Lynels, but this has really made me feel like I can try. I have tons of hours in and I still suck at dodging and parrying!! I also want to thank you for even doing this as you have to have a thick skin to deal with some of the negative comments. A bow in the game is NOT a weapon, just ask Hestu when you try to upgrade your stash!! :)
When the Lynel shakes you off and still in the air, equip your bow and then you can also shoot the Lynel with arrows in slow mo.

just don't draw your weapon and the lynel won't attack until you are basically in his face... he's a patient enemy... or wear a lynel mask or majoras mask... he'll just look at you...
This is a good note but I must add, after a while lynels will realise u are not a ally when using the mask, when they realise this, they will do a roar with no weapons out, so you have two choices while he roars
1. Run away
2. Shoot him in the face and get the stun damage off
Sir I love you. I am not very coordinated and fights make me anxious so my coordination gets even worse. Lynels are so hard for me to fight, I just bleed resources and food, but this method explains their weak points so perfectly that I can finally try fighting more!! 123itsUzumaki Naruto You can stock up on them in tropical areas as well as the Yiga Clan hideout. Also, Hearty Durian cooking is OP, cook 5 of them together. Teleport to Faron Tower, go forward and right to face a ledge where there are 2 Lizalfos. Kill them and that whole platform has a ton of Hearty Durians.
MasterForce also there are more hearty durians on the mountain near the lizalfos. I go there all the time cuz I don't have a lot of hearts

Use 4 mighty bananas then add any shard of a dragon horn for a effect of 30:00 minute level 3 attack power it’s very useful if your going on a killing spree

It can be severely quicker with an Ancient Arrow.
However, I don't actually know what happens, as I treasure each and every fight with a Lynel. Ancient arrows are reserved for Guardians or particularly annoying enemies _only_.
You don't get any drops from the fight if you use an ancient arrow. It's more like the arrow teleports it into a different dimension than killing it.
i love the fact mounting ignores the 2-handed weapons wield lag and basically treats them as 1-handed weapons for that time
this is just such an awesome video. I love battling the Lynels and usually just fly in and get multiple bomb arrow shots with a multi shot bow before I even hit the ground to start the fight. That takes away about 70% of their life but then I have to fight off the rest and it uses a lot of bomb arrows. This seems way more efficient and less costly in resources. I can't wait to try this tonight...lol...Thanks so much

Wouldn't **true** optimization be using the +15 ancient battle axe++ and the x5 savage lynel bow? I mean, with all the extra damage you could probably shave your time down to 40 or 45 seconds. I realize you probably used the base forms of the items since they are always obtainable, whereas the high level random drops usually require more grinding to get. It just felt worth mentioning
It is a max damage loadout though. If he spun with the ancient battle axe it would have been over much faster. Or the axe would have broke. The barbarian armor is unnecessary if you're using an attack food buff, they don't stack. And the ancient armor gives an attack boost to ancient weapons, which makes it do more damage than the savage lynel crusher with just the attack buff..

Lynels are just about the last thing that still keeps giving me trouble in the game. I have just tried your method and was able to kill my first Lynel after only 8 tries (reloads of the save state)!! You rock, thank you so much! :)

Better way than saving and loading.... just get kiltons lynel mask and put that on, walk up, stun him, put on the ancient helm, and resume... its much easier and legit and just a few more button presses....

Great video, thanks for the content, still useful and valid 2 years later. HOWEVER, one PSA for those who aren't aware: the Duplex bow has no spread and thus is not suitable for this. If one arrow misses the other one will too, it's no better than a single shot bow in this scenario.

The shrines don't respawn every Blood Moon. They are in they EVERY time you enter the shrine. I know because I've farmed them by just re-entering a shrine over and over. Shrines are unaffected by the blood Moon/World IN GENERAL.

I would recommend everyone to watch the whole video. I thought I had the hang of it since I was winning against White easily and doing almost what looked like this video, but sightly different. After closely watching the video, this strat works! I'm in the process of perfecting it (I have to eat one full health food per sliver rn).
this isn't optimized perfectly plus you have to use stasis+.
1. you can attack a few times before mounting (and if you put yourself in the right position, you can hit twice with one 'spin' of the heavy)
2. count to 5 then when you get knocked off, you can get headshots from the back (somehow) during 'arrow time'.
3. that's 2 weapons, a bow and an axe.
Twctlcc GM For 1, There is some optimization here. The idea of abusing mounting is to optimize weapon durability.
That's understandable. I prefer maximising DPS because my inventory is composed of 99% Savage Crushers and 1% Master Sword
I would argue with his setup here you get more damage with the Ancient weapons + buffs than you could with the Crushers and doing just mounted hits saves the weapon forever, so to each their own.
Twctlcc GM if you hit before you mount weapon loses durability. When you are mounted weapon loses no durability
what? No you just use stasis, spin attack, when he unfreezes he is stunned because of your attacks, cancel the attack before ground attack so stamina gets reloaded fast and then use stasis again, spin attack, easy

Yes,. most definitely. That Ancient Bow is amazing with the Ancient Arrows + Armor. Ever seen a Silver Lynel go Poof? :)
Tbh it was a pain to get a Crusher from a Lynel but now this helped me and its easier to do this. I really enjoy this even though I don't have the ancient armor yet, I can still try.

In the lost woods there are fairly easy to get 3 shot bows, the forrest dweler bows are 3 shotters.
Wouldn't using bomb arrows with a 3x or 5x provide even more damage when doing the critical shots?
Don't Read My Profile Picture I think you only need one arrow, most 3x and 5x bows use 5 arrows but only 1 is subtracted from your quiver.
That's right. I avoided these bows at first because I thought they would drain arrows, but they don't. They just magically turn a single arrow into 3 or 5.
Shooting a bomb arrow on his face after you run up to him would be a fun thing to do!
Bomb Arrows on Lynels is bringing a long ranged weapon to a close quarters fight. You'll just sacrifice accuracy because you can't get up close with bomb arrows or you'll get blown up, as well.
Why not the Barbarian set? Does it not stack with the food buff?
No, the Barb outfit's buff replaces the food buff negating any additional attack buff.
Justin Furrow barb set is less then ancient proficiency i think
Barbarian set doesn't stack with food, but ancient proficiency does, which is why ancient weapons are so good.
Don't forget weapons can also get attack up modifiers, and when the lynel bucks you off it's back you can slow down time and fire arrows at the back of his head and hit the critical for more damage

Pickles no, only bomb arrows. Elemental weapons are wasted on Lynels

MasterForce But if you need to restock on Elemental weapons, kill all the enemies in the upstairs area of the Coliseum. You will get one of every elemental weapon. You have to kill a Silver Lynel on the main floor, but that should be easy with this video plus he drops shock arrows, a savage lynel bow and shield, and a Flameblade.
How did you get a 30 minute attack boost of three?
Christopher Holmes any Dragon horn would do the trick
3 mighty bananas, 1 mighty thishtle, 1 farosh horn
Christopher Holmes or 4 mighty bananas and 1 monster extract. it comes out random but it's the cheapest way. just soft reset to get it perfect.
+izaac7777 I used to use monster extract but replacing it with farosh horn removes the random element (always high level 30mins) and is cheaper as the horn is free. Farosh horns are also extremely easy to farm.
Christopher Holmes 3 mighty bananas 1 mighty thistle 1 dragon horn. Dinraal is easiest to farm. He's always on time, I've never had him be a no show and if you get tagged with his fire you can quickly recover, stay in the air and retain your bow. Naydra doesn't always show and can really fuck you up if you get frozen in mid air, Farosh disappears a lot if you aren't exactly where you need to be AND he fucks you up arguably the most by not only electrocuting you but knocking your bow out of your hand. It's way irritating.
You can find Dinraal in the Tanygar Canyon around the Serenne Stable, or he passes under the Great Tabantha Bridge or he comes super close to the ground behind Death Mountain.
At last someone who uses stasis like I do! So many videos show fighting without using stasis and I always wonder why they're not using such a powerful weapon in their arsenal.
I stasis and put 2 bomb arrows in their face. I can usually get another couple into him once he's stunned. I generally keep my distance and wait for stasis to recharge. I can usually get in a few hits with my most powerful weapon before the lynel moves away or I can stasis him so I can back peddle and hit him with a couple bomb arrows. Generally, it's a quick battle.
I haven't tried mounting one, but now that I know there's no damage to weapon durability, I may try. I didn't know a save would reset things like that! Good to know.

No, you didn't miss anything. He messed up the math, as shown. But maybe the attack really is 270 in this combined armor/food setup and he didn't fully explain (or know) all the factors.

Andrew Copple best way to figure this out would be to equip the champion's tunic and do the math to see how much damage you do.

i mean you're not really supposed to farm lynels till later in the game so
I know this is a year ago, but you can do this with a weaker stasis and weaker weapons, it just might be a little harder to take longer. also if you want to know spots you can go to easily get really good weapons, ask me :P
@@tekii111 No, the un-upgraded stasis cannot affect enemies, but bow hits to the head still stun. Easy to do when it blows fire, when it charges up it's fire dome attack, when it roars, or when it is staggered by a parry.
Weaker weapons, yes. Hitting while mounted does no durability damage to your weapon so it can last as long as you need it to, and if you time your parries properly then you can get the mount very easily.
TwistedFox oh yea totally forgot about that, my bad haha plus it’s pretty easy to sneak into the castle, nab a royal guard weapon or two and just abuse the mounting, even without much good abilities or items

I would say I’m fairly good at killing lynels, so I’m gonna share my tips and tricks
I get LOTS of hearty durians and cook them. You can get hearty durians by gliding off of faron tower onto the nearest cliff, (you will see it ) I typically bring 6 4+ Hearts
Flurry rush is the key. Whenever he comes charging at you, easily target him and jump to the side and that will activate flurry rush.
I always wear attack up armor, but you can use attack up food.
I use stasis plus whenever he is coming at me and I don’t really have a way to dodge. Also if I want to hit him in the face witch does a lot of damage. You can get stasis plus by going to the hateno village tech lab and talk to Pura, she will tell you about it. You can also stasis other enemies, not just lynels.
I would say the ultimate trick is flurry rush, it’s what I do because I’m never the best at aim.
That’s my method :)
This is a good easy way but theres a MUCH faster method but if you have the skill.
All you have to do is shoot him right in the face WITHOUT stasis and he'll be stunned for like 10 seconds, then you wail on him with your weapon and do NOT mount him.
When he gets up from the stun shoot him once again in the face right after his 'head shake' animation. Repeat.
Note; if you shoot him before the head shake/stun animation is completely finish he won't get stunned

This video is so you don't use up any hand weapons tho. Otherwise, your method (and my old one) you are just trading weapons old for new with each kill. This is a far superior method.

4 mighty bananas 1 farosh horn is one way to do it
Recipe above or just 5 bananas. Less time for it if you don't use the dragon horn.
Yup, also works with other ingredients that have "mighty" at the begging, such as mighty carp, mighty thistle etc

Thank you for making it fun to kill the guys I used to flee, at high speed. And thanks for the Bomb Arrow farming video. I added a level 3 speed potion and the Save/Reload trick and got 104 Bomb Arrows in ~7 real minutes during a long thunderstorm. Awesome stuff. And for anyone who was wondering, a good level 3 Attack Up meal is 3 Mighty Bananas, a Mighty Thistle and a shard of dragon horn... yummy.

1 minute per monster doesn't add up to a 16 minute video.....
It's a tutorial on how to make each lynel fight 1 minute or less. Not a tutorial on how to kill a lynel in one minute or less.
I once did it in less than 30 seconds, I used this method except I never used stasis I just jumped off of the lynel turned and shot it again.
This is the best method to kill Lynels since you don’t damage your weapon.

But this is a very easy way to take down a Lionel without any damage to yourself, any damage to your weapon, and without much loss of arrows! You explained this perfectly step by step. fyi lynel approaches can be conducted without save wizardry by approaching with a lynel mask or (with dlc) majora's mask, then switching armor to take advantage of the lynel's (temporary) confusion. be advised, the lynel will eventually figure out you're not one of them.

8:35 I watched a video recently where they got the damage up way higher than that (I think 1600+), uh not sure which channel or video but if you're curious I can try to find it. Maybe HyruleDude or sommat
They used Ancient damage bonuses against guardians and sneak strike bonuses (8x I think?) and the 74 damage axe etc I think

For information about the max attack buff 30 minutes. There is 2 ways to get it.
1: using a dragon horn. It's 30 minutes effect guaranted
2: using a monster extract. It's random between 1 minute, 10 minutes and 30 minutes. (1/3) and there is still a chance (1/3) that the effect can lose efficiency. Save and reaload before cooking with it.

Alternative: 90 bomb arrows and food that raises your attack (stamina helps too) Descend from a high place (or use Revalis Gale) and GO TO TOWN (you'll probably only need like 2 bows and also the bomb arrows can easily bought from gerudo town once you have unlocked it)
