As with many other comments, THANK YOU so much for this video! You saved me (literally) over a couple hundred dollars at the dealership. It’s sickening how they use the scare tactic to “encourage” consumers to have the vehicle inspected and serviced by them. But, unfortunately, that’s how they make their $$. It took me a little longer to do this myself, due to the Aux cover plate being stubborn. But the rest was a piece of cake! I appreciate you and the time you took to create this DIY video. You’ve helped a lot of us out. THANKS!!
I know I'm several years late for the party, but I just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video. The AUX port stopped working in my 2008 Honda Civic EX and I found this video. I went to your link for the Honda OEM replacement part and ordered it today (it said they only had 2 left when I ordered this one). The part was a little more than $40 now in 12/2023, but I have no doubt the dealership would probably charge $240 or more to replace it. I've reached my limit of radio stations fading in and out, or no stations at all, during my road trips. My fingers are crossed that this will fix it. Thanks again!
Never too late to a party! ;) The oem part always fluctuates between 30-40 ish $. There are a lot of generic ones on Amazon that are about $20 that might work just as well. But my oem replacement lasted 8 years, and was still working when I sold the civic last month (287,000 miles!). Remember that the little door cover has 3 attachment tabs, 2 on top and 1 on the bottom if memory serves. So it’s easier to try a pinching motion, top and bottom, than trying to pry it off from the side like I did. Even if it it breaks, you should have another with the new part. Fingers crossed for you as well!
Got the part in. Procrastinated a bit. Just went out there, popped the cover off, pulled out the old guts, slid in the new guts, pushed the cover back on, and it worked like a charm. Took less than 10 minutes. Now I'll be able to have my tunes again on my long drives. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Very, very much appreciated!@@DavidCelaya
Hey! Just wanted to thank you for posting this video. Was able to get the AUX port replaced and my music is flowing once again. I also bought one of those KINIVO Bluetooth to AUX adapters and I LOVE IT. It has brought my non-bluetooth enabled CR-V into the modern age. Thanks again!
Bought the part on Amazon prime, did just as the video suggested and BAM! It works!!!! Thank you so much for this video, wish I thought of looking this up on RUclips a long time ago. You saved plenty of people lots of time and money!!
Man this is EXACTLY the info I was looking for. I've watched almost a dozen videos and they all end up tearing half the dashboard apart to get to the back of the car stereo unit to install an AUX that way. Finally found this video which addresses to a T what I needed to know. Many thanks!
Glad it helped! If you haven't installed it yet, just remember that the little cover door is held in place by two clips, two at the top, one at the bottom. I didn't know that when I did it, that's why I was going at it from the side. You can see them around the 1min mark. Try pressing down on the top, while also pressing up on the bottom, sort of pinching it. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for this video. We brought my husband’s car to the Honda dealer to replace this, and they said they couldn’t do it because nobody had a phone that had a headphone jack to test it 😳. I’m am glad they didn’t mess with it because I don’t trust that they’d wouldn’t wind up making things worse. I was so pissed off that they seemed to have no clue that this is so common with these cars. I was going to fix it for Xmas, but the 2nd mechanic (not a Honda dealership guy) said I would have to replace the whole stereo for $700. I didn’t even bother to point out that the aux jack is a separate piece lol. I was about to give up when I decided to google how to do, and was amazed how easy it is. When hubby gets back from his trip he will be so happy to be able to use his iPod in his car. You have made him so happy, and saved me $700!!!
The idiots at my local dealership gave me the same line of crap. They were clueless about the issue and said they couldn't even look it up for a part number -- that they'd have to take apart the dashboard to check for a problem. Thank you for this video.
Thank you man. This was so easy. I couldn't believe it. I ordered this part from amazon for $25 bucks, and had it done in 5 minutes.. I got quotes from Honda to replace it for over $160.. And a Car Stereo place wanted to either drill a new Aux input, or install a new system for $200. Thanks again for this video.
+thehendryx1 That is Awesome! I'd heard rumors about how much the Honda dealers wanted, I guess they were true. Glad you saved some cash and got your tunes back. Enjoy!
+Trevor Lucas the guts do work for a '10 but not the housing correct? I have a '10 as well and for the last few years we have to wiggle the cord around to get it to work. Did you have a similar issue?
David. Great video. I was planning to take my car to the local honda service center. Your video gave me some confidence to try it myself. And it worked. Appreciate ur efforts in creating this video.
+Jay S Nice. Glad it helped. I didn't realize how much I needed that aux until it went out. By the second day, I was scouring the internet for answers! lol. I found out what the problem most likely was on 8thcivic.com. Those forums are full of info. Enjoy!
this was super helpful and straightforward man thank you. my right speaker went out when using my aux port so ordered a new one from amazon and it took less than 10 minutes to install it with this video. yes there are clips at the top and bottom. I unclipped the top one using a flathead screwdriver once I pried open the side of the faceplate. then I accidentally broke the bottom clips off. but when reattaching the faceplate the top clip still held it into place. FYI for you guys worried about it.
Thanks for the video!!! I was able to get the job done hassle free in a few minutes thanks to you :) My only variation is that I used a flat head precision screw driver to pry the cover out. It left no marks at all in my dash board.
+Luis Gonzalez Excellent! Yeah, as I figured out after doing it a couple of times, you really can just pinch the top and bottom of the little faceplate cover and it comes right off. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for this video! My brother's civic was having this problem so I was able to buy a replacement and do this and your video helped me out a ton!
Fantastic! It's been a little over 2 years since I did the replacement, and it's still working fine. Hopefully it will last as long as you have the car. Enjoy!
Just remember, getting the little door off can be tricky. It has the one clip at the top, and two on bottom. Examine your new full part when you get it for clues as to how it attaches. Let us know how it goes.
David! Thank you so much for uploading this. Very helpful just finished installing the new aux in my GF's 2008 civic. She hasn't had six sonce she bought the car a year ago. Very grateful!
Woohoo! Thanks :) Remember, from my small update below, the clips holding the little face plate cover on are actually on the top and bottom (as you can see right at the 1:00 mark). So before using any kind of tool, try "pinching" the cover from the top and bottom. Let us know how the install goes!
Thank you so much. A beater knife and a squirt of brake parts cleaner got er working like new. You can bust all the clips off and it will still stick in there perfectly.
I sort of followed this but my whole part got messed up in the process so i replaced the entire thing. Still worked in the end after a bit of trial and error
Thanks for this video!! Just got done replacing mine today. Gotta try to find that "o" ring. Flew off somewhere in the car when I was replacing it lol.
Thanks for this video bro!! I just did mine, Taking off the cover and then putting the unit back in was a bit tricky. Nevertheless it was easy enough and I was done in about 5 minutes.
Nice! Yeah, I wish I knew then that the clips are at the top and bottom of the cover. Once you realize that, you can actually get the cover off by just pinching it at the top and bottom with your fingers. Enjoy!
Hi there. Checking the reviews on the genuine Honda part (available here on my Civic stuff page :) amzn.to/30pAx6P I found a few comments that say it does. Especially if your just using the internal part like I did. Let us know if it works for you!
Fingers crossed for ya! Remember, that little door can be tricky to get off. Check at 1min mark where you can see the one connection on top, and two on bottom for an idea of how it's on there. And if you break the clips, you get a new door anyway :) GL! Let us know how it goes.
So I just did this fix and I am now only getting partial sound. Instrumentals sound okay but vocals don't come through at all?? I used different aux cables and the same problem occurred. At one point I replaced the whole part, not just the little green chip thing, and while the unit was still out I tested the port and it worked great. I pushed it back in and the crappy sound happened again. So I tried to pull the whole part out again and it still doesn't work! Seems like maybe the port isn't the problem with my car? Any guidance on this?
Hey Carlos, sorry your having problems. You said it worked when you had the piece out, but then when you pushed it back in, it went bad again. Sounds like maybe a wire is getting (or got) bent or something bad is happening to the aux port, or maybe the wiring behind it. When you pulled the part out, and it didn't work, do you mean the radio wouldn't switch to aux again, or that it did, but the sound is just bad (and I'm assuming the sound is just bad when using the aux source? But the am/fm sounds good?) Either way, since it sounds like you've tried to replace the piece twice, and it's still not working. :( I think you have two choices now. Try to replace the entire stereo yourself (something like this ruclips.net/video/Itjh0_ffzfY/видео.html)...or, bite the bullet and take it to a honda dealer, or pro car stereo shop. Oh, one last thought...When troubleshooting, you always want to eliminate one piece at a time. So...I'm guessing your using the same phone as the audio source? If so, do you have another device, a tablet or different phone, that you could use as a test. Just to make sure there isn't something strange with your phone, or if your plugging in, your phones aux connector.
Hi, this may be slightly unrelated but I have 2008 Honda EX w/ Navigation, how do I change it to AUX mode? I noticed civics without navigation just have a physical button you press and there it's in AUX mode.
Mine still functions, it’s just loose. I have to hold the aux cable to the right for it to work. Do I need a new washer, inside part, or whole fixture?
Hi there. What you're describing is what mine did, and several others have also commented theirs did. Pushing it to one side or the other made it work until they let go, or maybe it worked for a few min, then it would stop again. Something seems to go wrong with the internal part after a few years. You can see in my video that I just swapped out that internal part. The whole part is about $30. You then just pull out the internal piece that has the connectors. Sort of like swapping a battery. GL! Let us know how it goes.
Hey Ryan. That seems to be the tell-tale symptom. You press the aux button, and either it won't switch to aux, or it switches for a second or so, then drops. I think mine use to jump to aux very briefly if if pressed on, or wiggled the plug that was in the aux port while pushing the button. But then it would turn off again. I figured out after I did this video, that you can just pinch the top and bottom of that faceplace (like I have my left hand on it at about 45sec...) and pinch that cover right off) without having to use any sort of pen or tool on the sides. If you really want to trouble shoot it, you should try another aux cable, and another phone while your at it. But failure of this little part is a fairly common thing. For some reason, it just dies. I got 6 years out of the original, going on 2 years with the replacement :) Luckily its fairly cheap and easy to replace. Let us know how it goes!
The plastic housing that hold the actual aux plug is inside the hole… any idea how I can take it out? I can’t replace the plug because it’s just handing inside
Sounds like it...fell in? You can get to it by removing the tray that's underneath it. Here's a video showing how. ruclips.net/video/Itjh0_ffzfY/видео.html . Then you should be able to reach up under and either just replace the center piece, or unclip the whole connector and replace that. Then maybe some gorilla glue or something to hold it in place.
David, do I need to disconnect the battery before replacing this part? I already did it and my neighbor just gave me a good talking to about electricity conducting and me getting blown apart so I figured I should check...
I didn't. But now that you mention it, it might not be a bad idea. If you do disconnect the battery, you'll just have to reset the stereo using the code on the little card in the glovebox, or you can google/youtube how to do it manually.
When I removed the flip cover, the internal part in which you push the new piece fell into the inner part of the dashboard ... I have ideas for pull it back out but don't know how I'd make it stay where it should be and I'm afraid of breaking it so it won't work even with the new port. Please help.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that. Don't know how it could have fallen in, as there's a lip around the edge of the aux housing holding it in place. Maybe if you pushed on it petty hard, I guess it could fall in there. Anyway, when you got the new part, it should have come with an entire new aux housing. So it seems like you just need to be able to get to it, and replace the entire piece. There's a single green plug at the back connecting the aux. You can possibly get to it from the bottom if you remove the plastic piece of dash that's under the aux port, and surrounds the shift lever. It's not that difficult, I just don't know if you can get to the aux port from the bottom once that trim piece is out of the way. Here's a video that Crutchfield made, showing how to remove that trim piece. ruclips.net/video/Itjh0_ffzfY/видео.html
Hey, I have a 2007 Civic EX with NAV and premium sound system. My problem is the speakers cut in and out when I go over bumps and even when I give that area a good smack. I tried this method and I still have the same problem. It is not the speakers and it is not the aux cord cause the speakers work fine on the other radio mode and the cord works fine on other cars.... any idea what it could be?
Hey there. Sorry to hear about your audiio issues. Sounds like a real pain! Well, from your description of it happening when you go over bumps and hit the area, it does sound like it's some kind of connection issue around that center stereo area. I know you said the cord works fine in other cars, but it's real cheap to get another one, just to be sure. I always want to start at the easiest, least expensive options when troubleshooting :) Then, I guess the next step would be to replace the whole aux connector part. You have to pop the dash off, but there are tons of videos on here showing how, doesn't look crazy difficult. If it was me, while I had the dash off, I'd also try someway of bypassing the existing aux port with something like this...amzn.to/38tc9sm It looks like that plugs into the back of the stereo, and uses the cd/cd changer port. At least you'd start isolation where the problem is. If after all that, it still cuts out, then I'd think about swapping out the whole head unit. You could of course go to a local stereo shop, and they might even be able to troubleshoot the existing issue. But there's no money in that for them ;) There are lots of vids showing replacement options on here if you wanted to do it yourself. You could buy something on amazon and DIY (example: amzn.to/38oDko0), or use an option like Crutchfield that will sell you the head unit and all the adapters needed. Sample video ruclips.net/video/Itjh0_ffzfY/видео.html Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
Hi i tried this and it worked. Thank you so much for this video. I have another question my skip (forward) cd button doesn't work. Any idea on how to fix it? Any videos or where can i find info on how to fix it? Thanks
Gland to hear! About skipping to the next track on a cd...haven't used an actual cd in a while. I searched a couple forums, and some people said they have problems with custom burned cd's. One person had exact same problem, but in their case, they found out that the cd had been burned as one long track, instead of individual songs. I'm guessing you are having the problem with multiple cd's? 8thcivic.com is a place I use to go for a lot of answers. And there are other forums as well. GL.
Where did you get the phone holder? Ive bought a few but they dont go with my car😑 or doesnt stay or its too far fwd because theres nowhere closer i can stick it on.
I got it on Amazon, amzn.to/2GSIpUT Right now, that one is out of stock, but there are a bunch more under "CD slot phone holders" amzn.to/2IerlO8 Just know that many of these side grip style holders aren't super deep, so if you have a wallet or pop socket or something on that back of your phone, and a case, it might be a tight fit.
Sometimes i when i hit a bump im the road or something the left speaker stops working, ive replaced my aux cord but the problem persists. if i replace this part youre suggesting, will it fix my issue?
Honestly, it doesn't sound like it. When this aux port part goes out, it shuts off all audio from the aux source, to all speakers. It sounds like you might have damage to the connectors on just that one speaker. I'm assuming your talking about your left front door speaker? If so, here's something I found on civicfourms.com that suggests it might be water damage that's intermittently messing up your speakers connection. www.civicforums.com/forums/181-8th-9th-generation-civic/333505-front-two-speakers-quit-working.html That site, and 8thcivic.com are both excellent for researching stuff about your car. You might want to look into replacing the speaker. There's a ton of videos on youtube, ("8thgen civic front speaker replacement") that show you, or a friend? :) how to do it. A site like Crutchfield, let's you enter your cars details, and gives you replacement options. (example. www.crutchfield.com/g_400/All-Car-Speakers.html?tp=105) GL! Let us know what you end up doing.
Found this for ya. ruclips.net/video/rbh7_UpnUd0/видео.html He rambles on about a lot of things...but what you want is at 2:45. I couldn't sit through it all, but I think he eventually just got a new part, and did the swap like I did. Unfortunately, he did the thing most people do, and took apart a huge chunk of the dash unnecessarily. Just pinch the old center piece out (pliers, tweezers, whatever...) and swap with the new, just like changing a battery :) Here's your 2012 civic part number for the Googling: Honda 39112-TR0-A01. If this was helpful, you can pick up some nice stuff for your 2012 on Amazon here amzn.to/2x01Kkv. Amazon kicks me a few cents from any purchase you make ;) Good luck, and let us know how you make out!
My left speaker doesn't work in my EX Coupé but only the right. I replaced the cord. When the radio is on or a cd is playing both speakers work. Only aux my right/ rear speaker works. Where did you buy this part?
+Zack Rowan I got it from Amazon, amzn.to/1M5CpX2. The symptom most people describe is that if they push on, or bend the cord going into the aux just a little bit, it sometimes works again briefly, but then stops. If everything works with the radio and CD, and you replaced the aux cable, it probably is this part. Good luck!
Sure. Here's a direct link. amzn.to/2WdwyeH Pay attention to the part at about 0:59 sec. That shows you the clips, so you can get an idea of how to get the little door off. Don't worry though, if you break any clips, the new part comes with a whole new door piece. Let us know how it goes :)
Hey Jesse, I have a page with all the stuff I use to keep my car alive :) www.8thgencivicstuff.com/ The actual bluetooth I use is this one amzn.to/2pHHFsH.
So when I tried this, it seemed as though I could not only remove the cover and it seemed like it wanted to remove the whole aux unit. Do you have any way to make sure I remove just the cover or a good way to remove the whole unit?
I hear you. Sometimes, that cover is tough to get off. Yes, you can just replace the whole piece. I didn't know how to get to it when I shot this, that's why I just pulled off the cover. UPDATE: I just went out to the car and checked. There is a plastic cover you can remove up under the little storage space to the right of the aux port. Pop that off (there's little slots on the left and right). Then you can reach in behind the aux, and push the whole unit out of the front. You'll see that there's just one green connector. Disconnect the old one, attach the new one to the connector, and push the whole thing back in.
If anyone considered de-soldering the broken aux connector and replacing it, don't. I found the part, its a Japanese mfg'r called SMK and the part no. is LGS6507-1300F. Mouser, nor Digi-Key sells it. For however many Yen it costs, better off spending ~$20 on Amazon like this guy did. :)
If you want to wedge something in there that doesn't fit and wire from the board to the equivalent jack connector, there are 9 conductors. DON'T DO IT! :P
Hi. Well, the classic symptom is you press the aux button, and either it won't switch to aux, or it switches for a second or so, then switches back to am or fm. Mine use to jump to aux very briefly if if pressed on, or wiggled the cable right where it goes into the aux port while pushing the aux button. But then it would turn off again after a few seconds. Try pressing on the plug while pushing the AUX button. If it switches to aux, then back to am or fm, it's probably this part. If you do get the replacement part, I figured out after I did this video, that you can just pinch the top and bottom of that faceplate (like I have my left hand on it at about 45sec...) and pinch that cover right off) without having to use any sort of pen or tool on the sides. good luck!
I replaced the entire piece with a genuine Honda part and I still have issues. Any recommendations. If I slap the dash repeatedly it will occasionally work..
Hmmm... Are you plugging a cable directly from the aux port to your phone headphone jack? Are you using one of those aux cable plug adapter things? (like this one amzn.to/2968HBx) Or are you using a Bluetooth device? This part going bad seems to be the number one issue for thousands of people. But it could be something else in the chain. Id try swapping out any cables or adapters inline between the aux port and your phone. Last shot would be testing with another phone to make sure there isn't an issue with your phones headphone jack. That's a long shot though, as you said it occasionally works when hitting the dash. When this aux port goes bad, people in the Honda forums are reporting that the aux will work for a second or two when then press on the cable right where it plugs into the aux (that was my experience as well). Sorry that your issue seems to be more complicated that this part swap. Check the 8th gen civic forums, maybe someone else has some info. Good luck.
Sure, if that's what you really want to do. This guy does it ruclips.net/video/GIXtGHdaSKs/видео.html. You will have a few more scratches, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. Otherwise, you can actually take the whole dash off. But that's a bit more involved.
Do you feel like doing a little drilling? If so, this guy shows you how. ruclips.net/video/JMq8tKoyxrE/видео.html Link to the part: amzn.to/2FojbzK If you really don't want to spend any money, there are also some guys i've seen do some soldering with some stripped wires (and probably tape) here on youtube and on 8thcivic.com. On the opposite end, you could buy a dash replacement kit, and all the wires (amzn.to/2CZYske) and a new stereo. Or go the Crutchfield route www.crutchfield.com (I did that back in the day, added a sweet Alpine to my funky old Ranger). If you buy a new head unit from them, they give you the new dash, all the connecting wire adapters, and a bunch of instructions and videos. GL!

Enjoy!
David, thanks for sharing. Where do I get the part from ? Any links to the part itself? Thanks
Wow! Such a great story :) Thank you so much for sharing. And to your husband, Enjoy!

The idiots at my local dealership gave me the same line of crap. They were clueless about the issue and said they couldn't even look it up for a part number -- that they'd have to take apart the dashboard to check for a problem. Thank you for this video.
I installed the new part. $30 on Amazon, genuine Honda part. Works perfectly. Thank you SO much for this video,
Awesome! Enjoy!
Finally!!! Short, sweet and to the point! Awesome video, this is exactly what I needed
Dude you're a livesaver, between the video and the Amazon link with all the cool Honda stuff, seriously, thank you!
Your kind words are much appreciated ☺️. Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Thank you. Now I know why the auxiliary port didn't work, I replaced it and it worked again 😊
You're the man. Just replaced in my 2010 civic. Bought via the link you provided, and followed exactly. Thanks!
Excellent!
+Trevor Lucas the guts do work for a '10 but not the housing correct? I have a '10 as well and for the last few years we have to wiggle the cord around to get it to work. Did you have a similar issue?
BrownBagAVClub Same issue. Only one aux cord that was bent would work. Lived like this for two years.
thank you so much for this! I love my car but I can only stand the radio for so long and after 5 aux cords I realized its the input
Thanks for saving me a $200 repair bill. I appreciate it!
+ljxela Excellent! Enjoy that sweet Aux goodness!
Thanks for the video!!! I was able to get the job done hassle free in a few minutes thanks to you :)
My only variation is that I used a flat head precision screw driver to pry the cover out. It left no marks at all in my dash board.
+Luis Gonzalez Excellent! Yeah, as I figured out after doing it a couple of times, you really can just pinch the top and bottom of the little faceplate cover and it comes right off. Enjoy!
Oh my goodness!! That was so easy. Thank you for that video! A $10 fix thanks to you!
;) Enjoy!
@DavidCelaya Thanks for the awesome video , Do u have the part # or link @Amazon , Please?
Trying this out tomorrow when the generic part arrives, would be a life saver! Thanks
Thanks for the video! I didn't know how easy it was, I randomly just checked RUclips for fun and boom! Thanks
Awesome! Thanks for the comment :)
Like others have said, THANK YOU for this video! Excellent visuals and explanations, w/ links too...awesome.
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words ;)
It was so easy to replace! THANK YOU! Saved me tons of money :)
Thanks so much for this video! My brother's civic was having this problem so I was able to buy a replacement and do this and your video helped me out a ton!
Very nice! Thanks for the comment :)
Just wanted to say thank you for this video ! First fix I do on my own car and it was pretty easy!
Nice! Glad it helped you. Enjoy :)
Thank you so much I really thought I was gonna have to pay the dealership to do this as a 20 year old woman I had no clue how easy it could be 🙌
Got the part for $13 on Amazon & it took me like 5 minutes
In less than 5 minutes you save me a lot of time and money! Thank you so much!!
Worked like a charm! Thanks for posting this...was contemplating replacing the whole stereo.
You got it! 3 Years+ now and mine's still working. Enjoy.
Thanks!!! I fixed it/replaced it!! With your help!!! High 5!!!
Monica Galvan Sweeeeeeet! Enjoy 😀
Just got a qoute from the local Honda dealership of $140 for this, just ordered the part from Amazon. Wish me luck!
The part is about $30 bucks, then I guess they charge about...$110 an hour labor? Yikes. Hope your back up and running soon. Let us know!
Fantastic! It's been a little over 2 years since I did the replacement, and it's still working fine. Hopefully it will last as long as you have the car. Enjoy!
Thank you so much! Received mine in two days and it’s fixed! I felt like a mechanic 🤣🤣🤣
This guy took it so easy my aux is stuck in there
Thank you so much- this video was an absolute lifesaver. Super easy repair!!
Awesome! Enjoy :)
Hey man, thanks a bunch! You definitely saved me up to $100 with this, I appreciate it.
Thanks, glad it helped. Enjoy!
So helpful. I just ordered part. I hope it works! Thanks!
Just remember, getting the little door off can be tricky. It has the one clip at the top, and two on bottom. Examine your new full part when you get it for clues as to how it attaches. Let us know how it goes.
I have been trying to figure this out for the longest! Great video, Thanks!
;) Enjoy!
David! Thank you so much for uploading this. Very helpful just finished installing the new aux in my GF's 2008 civic. She hasn't had six sonce she bought the car a year ago. Very grateful!
+jose gomez That's awesome :) Glad it helped!
Worked perfectly!! Thank You!!!
Thanks for this, It took 5 minutes to fix it.
Awesome! Enjoy.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you!! You made my LA car rides more enjoyable..
🤗 Glad it helped. Enjoy!!!
Thank you for the video and the link for the item! This fixed my husband's car!
I just pulled the black part and connected the green chip part to the harness and it works
Just fixed mine following url instructions, saved me a lot of money, thanks!
Woooo hooo! :) Glad it helped. Enjoy! www.8thgencivicstuff.com
I figured this was how it was replaced. Your video confirmed it thanks !
OMG, this made this whole process so much easier!!!! Thank you so much for posting!
Glad it helped ya!
Thanks so much. Just ordered mine from your link to Amazon.
Woohoo! Thanks :) Remember, from my small update below, the clips holding the little face plate cover on are actually on the top and bottom (as you can see right at the 1:00 mark). So before using any kind of tool, try "pinching" the cover from the top and bottom. Let us know how the install goes!
Went great. Don't have the cover back on yet but the thing WORKS!!!
You are a life saver my good man
thanks for the upload mine just went the other day gotta order a new one thanks for the help
did this on my sister's car and i followed this. thanks
Pretty sure I didn't find the one I dropped either, lol! Enjoy your tunes!
Enjoy!
Just ordered the part. Thank you. Honda should cover shit like this...
Will this work for a 2007 Honda CR-V?
Hi there. Checking the reviews on the genuine Honda part (available here on my Civic stuff page :) amzn.to/30pAx6P I found a few comments that say it does. Especially if your just using the internal part like I did. Let us know if it works for you!
David Celaya Alright thank you man
I just ordered the part, I Hope it works!
Fingers crossed for ya! Remember, that little door can be tricky to get off. Check at 1min mark where you can see the one connection on top, and two on bottom for an idea of how it's on there. And if you break the clips, you get a new door anyway :)
GL! Let us know how it goes.
This was perfect. Thank you so much for posting this.
Lex DeLong Thanks for watching!
Thank you David, it worked.... your the best!!!
Wooo hoo! :) Enjoy.
Super helpful - my music is back!
Glad it helped!
Very simple yet very helpful! Thanks
What type of cable do you used cause I bought a 3.5mm but it didn’t
any video longer than three minutes for this is a waste of time. I should have come here first. thank you sir!
I think you press Tune, on theTune/Folder toggle button. The one that's at the bottom left.
where do you get your aux cord replacement for a Acura TSX 09
@davidcelayna Would this cause the "aux" button on CD player to no longer function? My FM, AM, CD all work, but I hit "Aux" button with no response.
I got 6 years out of the original, going on 2 years with the replacement :)
Luckily its fairly cheap and easy to replace. Let us know how it goes!
Can you tell me where did you get your phone holder and the bluetooth accer? Or what are the names for the equipment.
+WANG HANG Sure, links to everything are in the description :)
Thank you!
Ohhhh...hahaha...Omg this is so easy. nice. I can make my Sacramento trip so much enjoyable. thanks !
Sample video ruclips.net/video/Itjh0_ffzfY/видео.html
Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
Did you end up fixing your aux situation?
I got it on Amazon, amzn.to/2GSIpUT
Right now, that one is out of stock, but there are a bunch more under "CD slot phone holders" amzn.to/2IerlO8
Just know that many of these side grip style holders aren't super deep, so if you have a wallet or pop socket or something on that back of your phone, and a case, it might be a tight fit.
Where can you buy the replacement part ? Or aux input
www.8thgencivicstuff.com
The link to the exact part is there, plus a few other things ;)
Thanks for watching, and let us know how the install goes!
If so, here's something I found on civicfourms.com that suggests it might be water damage that's intermittently messing up your speakers connection. www.civicforums.com/forums/181-8th-9th-generation-civic/333505-front-two-speakers-quit-working.html
That site, and 8thcivic.com are both excellent for researching stuff about your car.
You might want to look into replacing the speaker. There's a ton of videos on youtube, ("8thgen civic front speaker replacement") that show you, or a friend? :) how to do it. A site like Crutchfield, let's you enter your cars details, and gives you replacement options. (example. www.crutchfield.com/g_400/All-Car-Speakers.html?tp=105)
GL! Let us know what you end up doing.
Any word on this working for a 2012 Honda Civic? Just making sure before I order the part!
Do you still have a link for that phone mount? Thanks
Good luck!
Did you ever fix this bro ? Was it the aux input ?
can i get an updated link for the part. I have a 2010 so i am hesitate about purchasing if i am not sure i am getting the right part on amazon
Sure. Here's a direct link. amzn.to/2WdwyeH
Pay attention to the part at about 0:59 sec. That shows you the clips, so you can get an idea of how to get the little door off. Don't worry though, if you break any clips, the new part comes with a whole new door piece. Let us know how it goes :)
This is an awesome and perfect video!
God bless you ! No more radio for me !! And I did it all on my own !!! 😂😂
BOOM! lol. Love it. Enjoy ;)
David Celaya thank you 💙
Where did you get that holder for your phone? I'm thinking about picking up that Bluetooth system as well.
Hey Jesse, I have a page with all the stuff I use to keep my car alive :) www.8thgencivicstuff.com/ The actual bluetooth I use is this one amzn.to/2pHHFsH.
David Celaya thank you!
Today i learned this Honda generation has an aux input
How can I also make and receive calls? Do i need to install an external mic?
You just need to get a bluetooth car kit. This is the one I use: amzn.to/3TBzddK
Thank for this!! Super helpful.
Where do you get the replacement at?
If anyone considered de-soldering the broken aux connector and replacing it, don't. I found the part, its a Japanese mfg'r called SMK and the part no. is LGS6507-1300F. Mouser, nor Digi-Key sells it. For however many Yen it costs, better off spending ~$20 on Amazon like this guy did. :)
If you want to wedge something in there that doesn't fit and wire from the board to the equivalent jack connector, there are 9 conductors. DON'T DO IT! :P
Hi, my aux function cant be selected when i press the AUX button. Would replacing this help?
If you do get the replacement part, I figured out after I did this video, that you can just pinch the top and bottom of that faceplate (like I have my left hand on it at about 45sec...) and pinch that cover right off) without having to use any sort of pen or tool on the sides. good luck!
@@DavidCelaya just an update..i ended up just replacing the part since it was only like 16 bucks. My aux function is back. Thanks bro!
Good luck.
Is there a way you can put the new external part into the car instead of just replacing the new internal part into the old external part?
Sure, if that's what you really want to do. This guy does it ruclips.net/video/GIXtGHdaSKs/видео.html. You will have a few more scratches, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. Otherwise, you can actually take the whole dash off. But that's a bit more involved.
So i have a 2006 civic and when i bought it it didnt come with the aux installed AT ALL. Any clue how i can add this part into my car?
Do you feel like doing a little drilling? If so, this guy shows you how. ruclips.net/video/JMq8tKoyxrE/видео.html
Link to the part: amzn.to/2FojbzK
If you really don't want to spend any money, there are also some guys i've seen do some soldering with some stripped wires (and probably tape) here on youtube and on 8thcivic.com.
GL!
hi david. where did you bought that cell phone holder? its nice.. thanks,,
Hi Michael. Links to everything in the description. But here's a link to that holder.
It's the "Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for Cell Phones and GPS Devices"
Amazon US: amzn.to/1NaIsrT
Does this work for a honda crv 2008 as well? pretty sure it is the same part ...?
It does! Here's the amazon reviews that mention "crv": www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-39112-SNA-A01-Auxiliary-Assembly/product-reviews/B00HRXNLIG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewopt_kywd?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&pageNumber=1&filterByKeyword=crv
Link to Genuine Honda Part: amzn.to/3pmFvyP
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
Good idea on just popping in the new part ?
