Have and love the TUP, use it a lot. Features, size/runtime. So would get this but do not need 4k. Would get the TUP updated with the t4k build. May get t4k for build quality USB C. Would find a plug for the port.
There are some improvements as you say the build and finish is better, and the type C charging port However I'm not a fan of built in batteries, it's OK for the small keyring/chain torches - beyond that I'd probably go for a 16340 one
This is one nice looking mini torch, not sure about putting it on my keys though, definitely one for the belt, but with that sturdy clip it could clip on almost any clothing, Great review as always, Take care and stay safe matey,
@@MrBazReviews For times i need a bit more than 1000 lumen i also have the amutorch E3S ( 3000 lumen ) and a astrolux MF01 mini ( 6200 lumen with the 21700 battery ) . So there is always enough lumen availible 😉. I agree that the step from 200 to 4000 is to big. 15, 65, 200, 800, 1200, 2400 and turbo 4000 would be better.
I totally agree with you Mr b that it does need another mode added in there but otherwise wow. I own the tup and like that light but this is a really nice improvement
Would be nice to drop that Turbo level have it user set. The build is nicer v the TUP it's clear using it. Strange they go from 200 to 4K, thanks for dropping in again hope you are well
The TUP offers the same light output in one LED, versus the T4K's 4 LED's. I was expecting maybe 500 or 800 lumens on high? Did the TUP ever have temperature issues at 200 lumens? Maybe that was it?
Nice review man. 200 straight to 4k is rather odd. I guess they meant it to be a relatively low-output flashlight normally, but with the occasional high burst if needed. I ordered one regardless because I love the TUP.
Yes it's a strange move if they had a user set Turbo that would work better, just times I think that you want a bit more than 200lm output. Let me know what you think of it, I like it in many ways but there are some odd choices and that's the most obvious one. The concept is decent enough
@@MrBazReviews Anything that you'd recommend in the NightCore collection that may be a bit more worth it? I like the 4,000k but 10 seconds from 200m is a bit strange. Is the Tipi 2 or TUP any better for their prices and battery life? I like the screens on all three. Thanks!
You can't really measure unless you put it into a special dome (that's the official measuring way) It's def more than the 2-3000 lm ones I have used, but only for a short time. What I was looking for was a way to adjust the output of the turbo or another level in between
@@MrBazReviews Oh okay, I hope the claim was right or just at least 4076 lumens and will be enough to justify their lumen output claim. Then maybe it can be calibrated inside the T4K's motherboard wherein the engineers used to adjust the turbo.
Here's how I see it: it's there if you need it. You don't need to use it if you don't like it. If you can't see yourself using it then look other products
@@aggaviriyo790 I'm not sure it's the 4K turbo that's the problem you are right you can just not use it if you don't want it. I think the sticking point is you have nothing over the 200 lumens other than the turbo, and that's fairly useful to have I can think of plenty of times I need more than 200 lumens, but don't need the top output. Spacing is fairly important
@@MrBazReviews yeah, it sucks when the highest "normal" lumens only tops up at 200. I mean, the fricking Fenix E03R tops out at 260 lumens while being a fraction of T4K size. Spacing really is important
@@aggaviriyo790 Doesn't add up does it, surprised someone didn't sit down and think when they were making this, that the lack of output over 200lm would be a problem. Who knows what goes on in R&D with products not just torches. I just leave the review hopefully it helps point out good/bad areas, I'm sure there will be a bunch of videos gushing about this wow, awesome buy it etc..I try to keep it real and honest. This one area is an oversight big time IMO Shame as the design is pretty nice
Overall, especially considering it's light level configuration, (4000 for only 10sec, and 200 high etc) TUP is still winning. I will stay with my TUP until they bring a better one.
Why do you say that? The TUP is virtually identical levels with high also being 200 lumens. The Turbo on the TUP is 1000 lumen and lasts under a minute before kicking back down to 200. This is a nice upgrade from the TUP (which I love!) IMHO.
@@fogflyer There are a lot of torches that have inadequate spacing, and this is one of them. Just because they drop down doesn't mean a level should be left out. 200-4000lm is a crazy jump. If you're looking for videos that suck up to makers and ignore obvious weak points, you can watch the tree of life guy ;-D I'm here to critique products and give honest feedback
@Mr Baz- Don't take it personal, your review was great! I was just pointing out what I think is a valid reason for the large jump in levels. Sure, they could have included a 1000 lumen setting that would step down after a minute or two, but then due to the heat build up the Turbo would be inaccessible until it cooled off. A user selectable turbo level would have been nice, but adds some complexity to the light. For me 200 lumens is a good level for a light this small. The TUP is the same and is my EDC light. If I want something brighter I carry one of my bigger lights. Let's not forget that it wasn't that long ago we were carrying a giant 3D-cell Maglite that only put out around 50 lumens! Sure 4000 lumens is a bit of a marketing gimmick, but it IS a pretty darn impressive "gimmick!" I do wonder what toll it takes on the battery though.
@@fogflyer I don't take it personal I just don't agree, it's about practical things v "high level marketing", one reason I'm less and less interested in torches - there isn't much new out there, in terms of design and thinking things through for usability. It's mostly become an exercise in lumens output. Exactly the same as the camera industry, more megapixels and gimmicks v actual useful practical stuff. So it's not a product I would get, nor was the TM10K, fun to play with but nothing more. I can get 700lm out of the E16 16340, 200lm just isn't enough for some tasks, so IMO it's a big oversight to have missed that. I'd wager if you take a poll a lot of people would feel a similar way. I've no problems with people saying what they think, but then again I like to find weak point and this one one for many users.
It is an over the top flashlight no doubt. I ordered one without seeing any reviews first. Now that I watched your review, I no longer want it. I agree with you on the levels, from 200 to 4K is ridiculous without another level in between. It would only last for 10+ seconds in 4K? What’s the point of having crazy amount of light that you can’t really use? It’s mind boggling on why they did not put at least one more level like 1K or 2K in between. I was expecting a great flashlight, I guess I was overly disappointed. I’d rather have the Tup, when I can use the 1K for more than 10 seconds. They are moving backwards in their innovation. Sort of lazy innovation!
The power level jump was a bit obvious, I'm sure I am not the only one to not like it! Perhaps they didn't think about it properly, from a practical point sometimes you just want more output, but not the turbo. Anything that's near 1000 would have done the job, strange there is always something they miss in these products
Nice Review! But what i have realized after digging a bit into the super small EDCs and keychain lights: The Nitecore TUP is in some cases the better choice over the T4K, its just the old USB port, less dust proofing and "only" 1000, realistic around 800-850lm in Turbo which the TUP is not as good. When no turbo is used... the TUP is superior to the T4K, more reach, obviously noticable more reach. The T4K can only get up to reach with the 10 seconds maximum Turbo. Also, in my opinion the biggest downside of the T4K besides the very time limited 4000lm .... a brand new T4K of a friend has LESS RUNTIME than my fked up, old TUP in the regular modes (AND MORE REACH), not only on display, also in reality about 15-20% longer runtime! (effectively something like 7,5 vs 9,5 hours in 65lm or 2 vs 2,5 hours on 200lm for example)
You have a point; others have said similar things. I might expect the TUP to get an update, type C, few tweaks to the design etc. I'm not sure on that, seems likely though
@@MrBazReviews Anyways, im mostly happy with my white Led Lenser F1, modded for Li Ion and with 1000Lm+ and nice UI features Nearly all Nitecore keychain lights look ugly. Its just the very interesting combination of runtime, brightness, light pattern and size which impresses me on the TUP, for anything else i go for a small keychain light like my loved Nitecore TUBEs (most are still working V1s) or my modded LL F1 for style (at the cost of small battery/capacity)
@@harrison00xXx TUP's a bit big for me as a keyring torch, the Tini 2 is not bad if you want to spend that money, otherwise the AAA or cheap ones do the job.
Good looking light. But... STUPID Spacing of the brightness levels!! The highest lumen level that stays on is ONLY 200 Lumens. Beyond that 200 lumen level it jumps to the Momentary only Turbo of 4000 Lumens. And I thought the Nitecore TUP had bad spacing.
I agree it really does need something higher or the ability to change the Turbo level. There is a big difference 200 lumens, to 800/1000 lumens which is around the level many would like to see. Or they could have just added that level, can't be hard to do. Strange isn't it I try to be upfront about reviews, so I've no problems mentioning these things, only way to hopefully get improvements
200 lumen is likely all that flashlight can handle indefinitely without getting too hot. The Nitecore TUP (which I have) also has 200 lumen as the highest setting with a 1000 lumen turbo. The 1000 lumen turbo only lasts around 30-45 seconds before it kicks down to 200 lumen, so really this is just an upgraded TUP with a far more powerful turbo! 10 seconds at 4000 lumen is seriously impressive! It is also quite useful. Often you just want to light something up for a few seconds to see what's out there, this does that in an amazingly small package. If you want 1000 lumen steady, you need a much larger light to dissipate the heat.
@@fogflyer It's irrelevant they are hundreds of torches out there that have spacing levels that will drop down due to heat management. Who cares if 4000 lumens is impressive for 10 seconds, plenty would like a level that lasts longer and isn't so extreme. 4K lumens is going to mangle that battery pretty fast too.
Fenix E16 a 16340 battery hence more compact I have a full review here - ruclips.net/video/-2AlnoQZv8c/видео.html&t I believe it's discontinued though, might be some stock around, use it all the time
for nitecore tup, how long does turbo mode last? if it last for atleast a minute, would seem better than this one given the big jump to 200 lumens from 4000
Similar temp it holds the power fairly well it does drop a bit after about a 1 minute but only showed a big drop after about 3-4 minutes. That's when it's cold weather like now where I am
there is a huge gap between lumens 4000 and then 200 ?.... for this price? sorry i prefer my tup more logical choice and much more power battery (1200mah)
Yup, well it does drop down from Turbo. However, to me it would make a lot more sense to have a level say 1000lm odd in there. Or around that output. Strange isn't it, seems a bit obvious to me sometimes 200lm isn't enough, or 4000lm is too much!
@@MrBazReviews well saided my friend!....i will spend aprx 100 euro to have a stable 200 lm ??? It's seems that only the fancy 4000 lm turbo matters in this product, and not an all around companion!... Any way i love nitecore, an you got a great job with your reviews my friend well done!

Only 10 seconds at 4000 lumens then a sharp drop to 200 lumens makes it a deal breaker for me. It's nice but I won't be buying one. Shame they couldn't have put in at least 500 lumens regular output.
It was fun to play with, but I agree the spacing is the problem here and that would put me off buying it. I'll be honest I'd use a 16340 over this myself. I'm not sure people need 4k lumens in a torch this size
Too big for keychain, too small capacity and lack of cooling for a practical use. Better buy TIP SE (my choice) and normal flashlight having 18650 or higher (Convoy, Sofirn as minimal level).
It's more a pocket carry IMO just like the TUP for keyring/chains there are smaller better options IMO (I don't think big lumens output is required for these I've looked at a few TIKI/Mini One/Fenix. I'm more into the 16340 size for an EDC type torch. There is a marketing element to products such as this, whilst I like the OLED display, I don't really see a new for 4000 lumens myself
I bought TINI SS Tropical this month as a present with maximum 380 Lm in turbo. And received my own TIP SE with 700 Lm turbo few days ago. My conclusion is that size of TIP is maximum that is OK for me personal for keychain. And what I like, it is flat. That never can be achieved on round elements. Previously I tried to carry Convoy S2+ as EDC. But it is too bulky for my pocket.
@@pogartua TINI is quite good, like the small size depends on personal taste I don't mind the TIKI shape on a keyring myself, much bigger than a TINI and it becomes a bit bulky maybe for some. I'm OK with the TIP it's decent enough just wish they had a full lock out for it minus the clip, I find it better as a pocket EDC, but I use the E16 Fenix mostly for that - long term being able to replace the cell is a bonus I think These mini torches are quite popular that's for certain

You can hit it again as much as you want but it shortens the turbo, there is no delay you don't have to wait
Have and love the TUP, use it a lot. Features, size/runtime. So would get this but do not need 4k. Would get the TUP updated with the t4k build. May get t4k for build quality USB C. Would find a plug for the port.
There are some improvements as you say the build and finish is better, and the type C charging port
However I'm not a fan of built in batteries, it's OK for the small keyring/chain torches - beyond that I'd probably go for a 16340 one
This is one nice looking mini torch, not sure about putting it on my keys though, definitely one for the belt, but with that sturdy clip it could clip on almost any clothing,
Great review as always,
Take care and stay safe matey,
All good here thanks for dropping in, yes the smaller ones are better for putting with keys IMO less bulk and weight
Stay safe your end!
Very nice review... I'm waiting on the lumimtop gt nano it should be here next week ..
Yes that looks interesting I don't get to look at many Lumintop ones for some reason they don't send them in
Thanks, amazing vídeo
Glad it was useful for you
I have a TUP for a while now, and i use it the most.
I quite liked the TUP decent pocket carry. Depends if you want 10 seconds of 4000 lumens. Wish they had a mid level similar to the TUP Turbo
Strange they go from 200 to 4K, thanks for dropping in again hope you are well
may I know how long turbo on tup lasts?
The TUP offers the same light output in one LED, versus the T4K's 4 LED's. I was expecting maybe 500 or 800 lumens on high? Did the TUP ever have temperature issues at 200 lumens? Maybe that was it?
No idea, I think the spacing was odd for some reason. I might expect a new version of this or the TUP soon. Perhaps the TUP
Excellent review
Thanks I try my best
Nice review man. 200 straight to 4k is rather odd. I guess they meant it to be a relatively low-output flashlight normally, but with the occasional high burst if needed. I ordered one regardless because I love the TUP.
Yes it's a strange move if they had a user set Turbo that would work better, just times I think that you want a bit more than 200lm output. Let me know what you think of it, I like it in many ways but there are some odd choices and that's the most obvious one. The concept is decent enough
How do you like it, after one year?
@@MrBazReviews Anything that you'd recommend in the NightCore collection that may be a bit more worth it? I like the 4,000k but 10 seconds from 200m is a bit strange. Is the Tipi 2 or TUP any better for their prices and battery life? I like the screens on all three. Thanks!
@@Tripleh3lix20 I think the TUP will be due an update soon so I might hang on for a bit because I am sure one will be around soon!
@@MrBazReviews I am really interested in one for my trip this weekend, any of the NiteCore's you'd recommend for now?
Nice review, was that flashlight really 4000 lumens? or just like 3800 lumens below? seems like useless because of the turbo limitation.
You can't really measure unless you put it into a special dome (that's the official measuring way)
It's def more than the 2-3000 lm ones I have used, but only for a short time.
Seems pointless having a 10 sec turbo facility.Thanks.
It's not overly practical. I wouldn't mind however the lack of mid level output is disappointing IMO
Here's how I see it: it's there if you need it. You don't need to use it if you don't like it. If you can't see yourself using it then look other products
@@aggaviriyo790 I'm not sure it's the 4K turbo that's the problem you are right you can just not use it if you don't want it. I think the sticking point is you have nothing over the 200 lumens other than the turbo, and that's fairly useful to have
I can think of plenty of times I need more than 200 lumens, but don't need the top output.
This one area is an oversight big time IMO
Shame as the design is pretty nice
Overall, especially considering it's light level configuration, (4000 for only 10sec, and 200 high etc) TUP is still winning. I will stay with my TUP until they bring a better one.
Maybe they'll do another variation, but it does seem unlikely for a while
Why do you say that? The TUP is virtually identical levels with high also being 200 lumens. The Turbo on the TUP is 1000 lumen and lasts under a minute before kicking back down to 200. This is a nice upgrade from the TUP (which I love!) IMHO.
@@fogflyer There are a lot of torches that have inadequate spacing, and this is one of them. Just because they drop down doesn't mean a level should be left out.
200-4000lm is a crazy jump.
If you're looking for videos that suck up to makers and ignore obvious weak points, you can watch the tree of life guy ;-D
I'm here to critique products and give honest feedback
What it lacks in size, it makes up in price.
Pretty much lol
Thank you!
Thanks I hope it was useful for you
A++video 👍🇦🇺
Thanks glad it helped
Nice Review!
But what i have realized after digging a bit into the super small EDCs and keychain lights:
The Nitecore TUP is in some cases the better choice over the T4K, its just the old USB port, less dust proofing and "only" 1000, realistic around 800-850lm in Turbo which the TUP is not as good.
@@MrBazReviews Anyways, im mostly happy with my white Led Lenser F1, modded for Li Ion and with 1000Lm+ and nice UI features
Nearly all Nitecore keychain lights look ugly.
@@MrBazReviews i was since ever happy with a first gen Tip CRI
Definitely needs more brightness settings
Agree strange omission isn't it
yeah so weird like it seems it would be easy to add even 10 settings
@@user-jt5vm3mi1w Very easy thing to do maybe if they do a T8K they'll add one!
10 seconds of turbo. (We can do this no problem but battery tech is the limiting factor) Super cool light.
It's a we can do it product, some nice ideas but I think could use a few tweaks
Good looking light. But... STUPID Spacing of the brightness levels!! The highest lumen level that stays on is ONLY 200 Lumens. Beyond that 200 lumen level it jumps to the Momentary only Turbo of 4000 Lumens. And I thought the Nitecore TUP had bad spacing.
I agree it really does need something higher or the ability to change the Turbo level. There is a big difference 200 lumens, to 800/1000 lumens which is around the level many would like to see. Or they could have just added that level, can't be hard to do. Strange isn't it
I try to be upfront about reviews, so I've no problems mentioning these things, only way to hopefully get improvements
The mini2 is perfect
I have it and 200 is perfect, but the 4k is a monster jump
I'm hoping they might update this to give more power levels. Depends what you are doing really, how much output you need
what flashlight are you comparing it with at 4:36?
Fenix E16 a 16340 battery hence more compact
I have a full review here - ruclips.net/video/-2AlnoQZv8c/видео.html&t
I believe it's discontinued though, might be some stock around, use it all the time
for nitecore tup, how long does turbo mode last? if it last for atleast a minute, would seem better than this one given the big jump to 200 lumens from 4000
Similar temp it holds the power fairly well it does drop a bit after about a 1 minute but only showed a big drop after about 3-4 minutes. That's when it's cold weather like now where I am
@@MrBazReviews tup seems better than 10 secs of turbo for t4k if only it was capable of 1000 lumens, thanks!
@@gretony Yes it is an oversight, even if we got 800lm that would alright, 200-4K is huge. Sometimes you need a bit more than 200 IMO
I was ready to buy it but 10 seconds at 4000 going down to 200 is not acceptable for such price tag. 200 lumens is way to low.
The power spacing needs to be fixed, it's a major oversight in my view
What is the price?

Staying with tup, turbo mode is more than 10sec on the tup
Yes that's a valid point I prefer the build on this, but the TUP makes more sense in terms of it's spacing

It doesn't look like glass but I can check again

Totally! I bought a cover SEPERATE for it. It's a generic usb-c port cap/cover
Crazy how they got smaller and brighter each year
Yes seems to be the equivalent of lumens are megapixels, ie more is better. Marketing at work!
there is a huge gap between lumens 4000 and then 200 ?.... for this price? sorry i prefer my tup more logical choice and much more power battery (1200mah)
@@nikolaidisharalambos6396 I think Nitecore do seem to take on-board some of the points people make, at least they seem more receptive than other makers (cough Olight being the worst offender). I hope they can look at this and update it, with the move even power spacing.

Can the battery be changed?
Not easily it's a custom cell

Only 10 seconds at 4000 lumens then a sharp drop to 200 lumens makes it a deal breaker for me. It's nice but I won't be buying one. Shame they couldn't have put in at least 500 lumens regular output.
It was fun to play with, but I agree the spacing is the problem here and that would put me off buying it. I'll be honest I'd use a 16340 over this myself. I'm not sure people need 4k lumens in a torch this size
still without strobe so pass to next product. i like nitecore products.
No strobe on this one shame really
I'm OK with the TIP it's decent enough just wish they had a full lock out for it minus the clip, I find it better as a pocket EDC, but I use the E16 Fenix mostly for that - long term being able to replace the cell is a bonus I think
