Lived in LA for a time, had a bully neighbor, I worked security at a movie studio, had one of the prop guys make me some building blocks, cinder blocks that look like the real thing. When I brought them home, I made sure he was watching, I carried six at a time, and stacked them up. then proceeded to smash each one by hand, in a very violent manner. He never tried bullying my house hold again. Movie props are fun.

Last story - Some people just take and abuse. We have a very well reported story in my city how a person is squatting on a disabled womens inherited property. The person claims this disabled woman is over all the time, they are friends, they get pedicures...the disabled person got a TBI as a child. They are not verbal and cannot even eat without help. It's disgusting.
The property was there to help pay for her care and needs as she gets older. Now it's all tied up in court because of the shenanigans. People that do this to others is so horrifying.

@ 8:05. I’m a Disabled Veteran & although generally happy w/my VA Center (it helps there’s a facility in my hometown), sadly the Nurses attitude is pretty much prevalent throughout the VA. They deny, deny, deny until a Veteran either gives up or dies before receiving benefits.

going to the VA with my husband is always interesting. I wait and wait and then wait some more until he does whatever he goes there for and then we leave. This one time he went to the local clinic that doesn't need any appointments and I went with him in part because he mentioned ice cream (yup, I got bribed like an average 3 year old lol). we had never been there so after we got there I told hubby, "that's a cute little building". we parked the car, went inside and then we realized that we didn't know where to go next so we (and this is the royal we since I was half daydreaming while following hubby) asked the guard by the door. tuned most of the conversation out but at some point I heard him say something about the 8th floor past the pool. and off we went with him walking and talking with hubby about something I once again tuned out.
for some goofy reason I was now leading the way, but even stupid me knows what an elevator looks like so no need to follow anyone. once I found it I stood in front of it waiting. next thing I know the guard told hubby and I, "we're here", which I assumed he meant "you can take the elevator up but my job in here is done" so I kept waiting for the elevator. he probably realized I'm an idiot because he then pointed to our right and told us, "that's where you want to go" and then began laughing.
What the moral of this story is: Not only I don't listen to others, I don't even listen to myself because had I done that I'd have remembered this building only had 3 floors, which is why I had called it little. but apparently in between the time it took us to park and enter they had enough time to add an additional 5 floors to it ,,, oh well, at least now I have a silly story to tell, and the guard was nice, so after hubby's appointment we went back and chatted with him for a bit :D

Op needs to get gates and locks with the camera's point around his property. Also to tell the elderly neighbors family to get cameras as well as getting a joint restraining order from these people. Also maybe report them to the council just in case something else goes wrong and saying that they are intrusive and are trying to bully their way into a bigger property through their neighbors.

I have had reasonable to pretty good service from the va. That said, we arent in the va system because they let us. We are there because that was the agreement we signed when we offered to potentially die in horrific ways because we thought it was our duty. Keep the bargain and all is well.

I've been waltzing Fernando with the VA for 30+ years and remember the bad old days of the "Rent-A-Doc" VA care. Back in the 80s the VA was too cheap to pay decently for even mediocre help so they'd contract for most of their doctors in 6 month increments. The facilities were old, run down and actively dirty in some cases. It was not good. I'm happy to say that the quality of VA care has improved enormously, in general. In reality, there is no consistency across the VA bureaucracy so some VA facilities are excellent, some are okay, some are, at best, shitful and a few are actively hazardous. Things are better than they were but if I could afford decent medical insurance I'd never set foot in one again. Sadly, most vets are in the same situation.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, if not first known to staff, is 30 minutes of the patient dying and another half hour of chest compressions before marking the time of death. My dad had one as a genetic birth defect. He was even in the ICU after surgery when it popped. They basically help pump all his blood into the area around the stomach while trying to save him.

Asbestos story: I hope you kept copies of the OSHA documents as well as his threatened write-ups. But you did exactly right.
VA story: I'm also a vet, though with no service related disabilities. I do get care thru the VA and have been very happy with it. But I agree that nurse/staff member was completely out of line. As for not handling it "in-house", we all know exactly where that would have gone. Congress-critters exist for precisely this type of situation. You did good OP, never doubt it.
Back garden story: OP, if you haven't done so, it's time to install some cameras to watch over your back garden and fence, as well as to encourage the sons of your other neighbor to do the same. If trespassing laws where you are allow it, get them formally trespassed from your property, then follow up with the police if/when they violate it.

The attitude of that VA nurse.....she wouldn't even have had a job in the first place if not for disabled veterans. Who else did she think she was going to provide medical care for if not disabled vets? Vets are the only patients authorized to use VA hospitals and clinics!

Years ago my financially challenged over medicated dad was seen at a VA facility when he became confused, weak & falling from the different chemo drugs, pain & sleeping meds prescribed by his 4 different doctors for his cancer treatment. I was told by the staff that I wasn't allowed in the patient area & must remain in the waiting room. I explained I needed to talk with the doctor about what was happening with him taking to many meds & which he couldn't afford. The nurse & the security guards tried to restrict me to the waiting room. I informed 2 burly 250 lb security guards & the nurse they better get reinforcements because I was going to where my dad & his doctor was. When I arrived in the room, I cited the 3 different sleeping meds & 4 different pain meds my dad was taking daily & also the multiple chemo agents they had prescribed. They had no idea of the meds he was taking but after that visit they started talking to each other & the VA started furnishing his meds. The 4 security guards showed up as we were leaving & my dads chart was flagged with a warning about me but a notice to discuss his care with me.

I would go so far as to say, if it weren’t for the veterans in need of care, she would not have had her nice government job to begin with… I lot of “VA Workers” take the job because they get large portions of their student debt taken care of by the government. Sorta reminds me of the people who join the service for the college plan then get mad and upset when Uncle Sam decides to activate them for deployment.

The location of the VA facility is definitely a factor. I first started going to my local VA it was a hell hole. had it not been for the passage of Obamacare they would’ve gotten away with refusing treatment for my veteran wife after they diagnosed her with cancer. After my wife passed, I started using a VA facility in a large city that was quite distant, but was a great facility. later the situation dictated that I had to return to the first VA. I was terrified. As it turned out that VA had done a complete turnaround and is now a top tier medical facility. So I suppose it’s not just location. I would say it is the administration of the facility.

We had a neighbor when I was 17 and in high school at the time, who thought he was the neighborhood watch police. If he thought anyone was doing anything wrong, the police would, surely be by to investigate. I had purchased a used car from a private owner, who was kind enough to allow me to use the plates that were on the vehicle, as the current registration had yet to run out. the day i bought it, I had insurance in my name for said car and had to go to the DMV for a title and registration change. In all honesty, the car didn't look good at all, and this is where the real fun begins. In setting the scene, the car was a 1973 Pontiac La Mons that the previous owner, for whatever reason, had ripped of the landau roofing material, then, without preparation spraypainted the entire car a mat Robin's Egg blue, and to top it off, that paint was flacking off the reveal the cars true color, a metalic blue-gray. The next day, I pick up the necessary documents and new plates (mind you, this is only the second day I have had the car), and am attaching the plates, when a police officer rolls up behind the car, with lights and sirens going. The officer explains he is going to give me a ticket for an "Imperatival Vehicle" that has been reported in front of our house. I told him, in a polite tone, that if said ticket was issued, I would see him in court, I showed him the bill of sale, my registration and proof of insurance and even asked if he would like me to start the car. Everything was in order, so there wasn't anything the officer could do. I did ask the Officer who reported this, and the officer smiled and said he couldn't give out this information. but when I pointed to my next-door neighbor, who had been standing on his front porch the whole time watching our interaction, the officer laughed and gave a nod and told me to have a good day. After the officer had left the scene, my neighbor when berserk because nothing happened. I started my fully legal car and asked him if he would like me to run through his lawn a few times with my inoperative vehical. That was the last time he ever bothered me.
