SYNOPSIS:
Two brothers and one fallen angel - against all the might of Satan and his army! As the Apocalypse grows closer, threatening to turn Earth into a battlefield soaked with human blood, Sam, Dean and Castiel struggle against daunting odds. New foes arise, including the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Old friends depart, consumed by the fearsome wrath of Hell. Sam, Dean and Castiel track down the Colt and head off to find Lucifer to send him back to Hell. It’s a hunters’ reunion when the crew joins forces with Bobby, Ellen and Jo for what could be their last night on Earth.

There was a director of SPN and X-files episodes called Kim Manners who before a take would say 'Kick it in the ass' he died shortly before this episode was filmed and the actress who played Ellen was told by a crew member to say that as a nod to Kim and all of his hard work.
Oh please, Jo had a huge crush on Dean but Dean was the one rejecting her because he had a lot of respect for Ellen and he was still raw from his father's death. When Sam was possessed by Meg and tormenting Jo it was getting under her skin that he kept mentioning that Dean only likes her as a little sister. Jo let her pride get the better of her since Dean was the one who was always turning her down so she turned him down to save face more than anything.
I really like Crowley! Meg always brings it for me too. I still cry watching this one, that is how you know it is a great one!
Yes, the burning of the photo is meant to serve as a hunter's funeral for Ellen and Jo.

Unfortunately, Cass wouldn't have been able to save Jo because Lucifer had him trapped in a ring of holy fire. Jo was SO into Dean in the early episodes. Dean was the one that put the brakes on back then. Crowley has some great lines. Looking forward to more Crowley. Great reaction! More soon I hope.

This episode tore my heart pieces! I was so shocked that they killed off Jo and Ellen so soon on the show.
Ok, so I completely blame the fandom for killing off Jo. From what I gather, a big part of the fandom disliked Jo with the thought of being with Dean (most likely due to ridiculous jealousy). Ellen dying is just another way of getting rid of characters that aren’t Sam and Dean… disappointing…. But Yay Crowley!!! lol. And yeah, I thought burning the picture was awful, but I’ve heard that it still existed. I wish that we actually saw the picture afterwards though

Great episode for introducing Crowley, but awful episode for kicking off the show's bad habit of killing off popular female characters
