- This video will show how to remove the fuel filter of a VW Jetta 2007. There are some other videos on the internet. I decided to make another because I felt it was needed. Otherwise I wouldn't have made it. Shot on a Samsung Galaxy S3. Made and published 112515.
Much better and clearer than the other video of the same thing. No wasting time with extra video footage.
Great video and explanation. Did today (10 min work), on a Golf mk5 2007. Careful on eyes, gasoline fall after pipes are open, but only few, after stops.
Thanks for the video. Helped on my 2012 jetta mk6. Go slow and push the line toward the filter first, then push the clip and slide the fuel line off. When putting the lines back on, you can either push on til it clicks or push in the clip and slide over the filter tube.
Thank you so much!!! This was the only video that helped me figure it out!
Thank you for the clarity in this video! Was able to change my filter as well....
Thank you, it did helped me on my VW 2014 Jetta. excellent and short explanation.
You are the best!!Thanks for this educative video!!
Thank you for this! Those clips were tricky!
Really useful video, I did it on my 2005 Jetta.
👍 buddy short and to the point. You showed everything no avoidance of what not. Right on! You the man!!!
It was going well until I found out the screw holding my fuel filter was completely rusted flat. Since I don’t have anything to remove it I’m going to have to bring it to the mechanic so they can lift it and have an easier access point. Useful video tho, thanks!
thanks man! you helped a lot! I just changed the filter of my car and it was my first time too!
No problem glad I could to help!
Any future watchers: Remove the fuel pump fuse and try to start or stall the car, that way you wont have as much fuel spill all over the place. Also i wouldnt remove the fuel cap since it has negative pressure which helps you not to spill too much.
Which one is the fuel pump fuse?
@@boomerguy9935 the red one.
No im kidding youll have to figure this out yourself, depends on make, model and sometimes even date of assembly
@@D3nn1s I found it in the owner's manual. It's a 15A fuse in the fuse box inside the cabin, on the left side of the dash. Easy to find.
@@boomerguy9935 good job. I tried looking for mine but theres no diagram or label i could find for a golf.
Now just pull the fuse and wait for it to stall, then there should be no fuel pressure left and u wont make a mess :)
Clear and Informative. Appreciated.
Thanks for the video. It helped with my 07 Rabbit.
Good video with details on clips. I’m having trouble with mine. Thanks
Good demo of the clip action and removal! :-)
Thank you for the tutorial!
Very helpful video. Thanks
Great video 👍🏻
Thanks
Just did this on my 17 Jetta 1.4t
No issues . I didn’t need any tools as well
I have VCDS so primed the system but you don’t really need VCDS for this.
Thanks
I am going to replace it on my Wolfsburg... hopefully that will fix my issue... because I wouldn't like to buy the fuel pump $$$... Thanks for the tutorial 👍👍
going through the samething, with my 08 weighting my options...before the fuel pump, was this your issue
great video, there's a valve stem for fuel pressure under your air filter. it has a gray cap. use a rag and release the fuel pressure carefully. before you start removing fuel lines. this stem can be used to purge the system too,if you know how.
Very helpful. Yhanks
2022 VIDEO UPDATE: I did not mention it in the video but please make sure that you install the correct fuel filter. There are basically 2 types of pressures (in bar) . There is the (6.6 bar) fuel filter and the (4.0 bar) fuel filter. For a 2.5L engine it is usually the (4.0 bar). For a 2.0L engine it is usually a (6.6 bar). Since my car is a 2.5L engine I installed the 4.0 bar filter. But please make sure you research it anyways or install the same one it came with. Here are some links I found (non-affiliate links; you can buy a filter from whatever website you want. This website just happened to have the list I was looking for):
6.6 bar Models - www.shopdap.com/make-model-year/volkswagen/jetta/mk5-2005-5-2010/engine/2-0-turbo-fsi/repair/fuel/fuel-filter-6-6-bar.html
4.0 bar Models - www.shopdap.com/make-model-year/volkswagen/jetta/mk5-2005-5-2010/engine/2-5/repair/fuel/6q0-201-051-j.html
HOPE THIS HELPS!!!😀
Very good video!
Thanks!
also was your car noticeably louder prior to you replacing the filter? and was it hard to accelerate? and if so did replacing the filter fix the issue? please respond asap
Thank u.
Any knowledgeable car people know why there are two lines going into filter and one coming out.
And some fuel filters have one going in and one coming out?
Also some videos I see people take the fuel pump fuse out and let the car stall out to drain the fuel, do you need to do that for the jetta?
I have a 2009 2.5L MK5 and have not changed the OEM fuel filter. It has 121k miles on it. I have used Lucas fuel injector cleaner and it has cleaned the deposits out of the system. I don’t think the fuel cleaner did much for the fuel filter itself. The problem is I’m experiencing late throttle response. I feel it might be the fuel filter that is causing the issue. How overdue is the fuel filter change? How often should I change it?
Old comment but this can help others. You are over 80k miles overdue, this should be replaced every 40k miles.
Saw other videos mentioning about removing fuel fuse to relieve the pressure. Is it not necessary for jetta?
I didn't do it and I didn't have any problems. Just open the gas cap to relieve pressure that way. You could if you wanted to.
thanks
Does pushing in the clips prevent the gas from coming out, or is it simply to remove the line from the filter?
Simply to take remove filter from the lines.
Some gas will come out of the filter because there is some stored there but it won't come out of the lines
Hi Rodrigo, great video, very informative but can you please tell me where the fuel filter is located? thank you.
Adam Wyngaard Thanks. The fuel filter is located beneath your car on the passenger side or the side where you have the fuel cap where you put gas
*****
Thank you Rodrigo, I managed to find it and replace the filter using the information on this video.
@@rodaraguz thanks video is helpful. I have a couple of suggestions.
1) I have 05 jetta (new) its hard to find videos on this car as it was the year they changed body style. It has 05 and 06 parts. Suggestion- change name of video to 05-07? Jetta 2.5 or not a tdi...lol
2) I was worried about how much gas was going to come out. Maybe address that not much comes out ( good call on glasses an coffee can) got a bit worried when I seen wear glasses but no explanition on what to expect.
3) When I took off screw I didn't realize that there was a peg behind blue hose and that there was a small bit of plastic holding the bracket together all though the screw was completely out. (Bit of plastic made it seem like it was supposed to open from other direction.) After I cut small bit of plastic it came out easily.
4) finally. Maybe add caution as to not bend fuel line harshly when removing last fuel line as they are metal an they could kink or break.
Thanks again.
Under rear passenger side door
@@jamesm3045 I did it on a 2012 Audi a1 it uses the same vw filter and fuel lines have the same connectors as this car. Has that little plastic bit that made the clamp not want to open too.
Got the first 2 clips off and the last clip seemed to not come out any help?
Did you remove the Phillips screw to reveal the hidden screw shown in the video?
This is for the 2006 Volkswagen jetta 2.5
where on the bottom of the car is it? is it on the bottom front?
inside the glove compartment next to your user manual
i fucking love your shit dawggggggggg
hey will this worl for my 2002 Vw jetta ?
Sorry but I don't really know. You can check in you car and if it's similar this video could help. Many things in a car don't change that much over time
this is the Mpi engine?
+Mohamed Soliman i don't know. i looked it up but couldn't find much. this is just the fuel filter that goes on the bottom of the car.
Okay thanks.. I have jetta 1.6 mpi
I ask this tutorial will work with my car or not☺
Where is it located. Couldn't tell from the video. Thanks
under the passenger rear door or on the side of where you have the gas cap
@@rodaraguz thank you
This for 2007 2.5 ?
yes
Hey bro would you mind leave your email to asking you something about reboot urgently thank you
