"You're not somebody's play thing..." and that whole rant was really cathartic to hear out loud, I think this was the first time I've heard a cisgender person acknowledge this in media. Your show rocks.
Story one: i'm all for seducing bad guys, but the player has to initiate it. Also, only way? I don't know removing knee caps is pretty effective. This DM has mad chaser vibes. Second story that's a fun one. On the character death I vary much embrace multiverse theory so some characters I've played for years in multiple campaigns. Each one a little different. Story 3.Wow they do say being a Boomer is a state of mind. Very much true in this case. Story 4 Wow this is alot of fun and a great redemption arc for Curse of Strahd. Good stuff.
the broth cooking is called HotPot, at least in my part of the States where there is a big Korean and Vietnamese/Hmong population. At K-BBQ there is a grill on the table where you cook the meat. but please excuse my knowitall post.
I was playing D&D with my Dad’s family for the first time, and my grandmother played a side character that was a fully grown adult female prostitute that tried to obtusely-and by no means covertly-seduce my young, barely 10 year old cousin who’s character was also tween aged into having sex for them. The character literally said,” usually I charge the men but alter so cute I just might let you in for free!” And she described the face they made as a very flirtatious one. I called her out on this inappropriateness and her response was, “what? It’s the olden times-back then tweens were considered adults, and this was not weird, it was normal.” And made this sneering humored face like *I* was somehow the weird one. And all of the four other adults, including my father, *f*can agreed with her* The really weird part is that she and the other adults heavily monitored our TV time and their excuse is that they dishes want us watching inappropriate children’s cartoons (even though we’d watch rated R and PG-13 movies with them all the time.) anyways, the demonstrated at least some concern over shielding us from overtly s3xual entertainment involving two similarly aged grown adults on TV-but somehow this was okay.
Third Story: Well it's obviously just a control thing, plain and simple. The wife wants to control the mood of everyone by making everybody else at the table uncomfortable, because that's how she gets off. She sounds like a terrible person, and I feel bad for her husband; even if he's into it too, it's still affecting his relationships, considering everyone at the table is leaving because of his wife's behavior. It's just simply main character syndrome and using the fact that she's the DM's wife to further manipulate everything into her own favor, which sucks. OP just needs to find a table where the DM doesn't do this, either where the DM is single or has a partner that doesn't play or does and is treated equally, and they'll be okay. EDIT: Listening to Margaret's point about the "just toughen up" bit... Yeah, what is even the point of someone "toughening up"? So they can just ignore, or even go along with, the person telling them that when they act like a shithead? It's just another way of saying, "You need to agree with my actions because I'm having fun, and as long as I'm having fun, it shouldn't matter to you or anyone else what's going on." They're saying your feelings don't matter, and if you're offended, you shouldn't be, because they don't understand why something like that would offend you. They refuse to look past their own narrow world view and understand other people. The determination that these people are evil is on the nose.
If it's Soju and Gogi you're looking at for the KBBQ I'd highly recommend the barbeque/grill your own meats thing! If its Mannaza, I'd recommend the Jjajangmyeon, which is like a black bean sauce noodle dish, also delish. If it's neither of those...let me know because I need more Korean restaurants to go to in Newcastle aha!
Margaret is talking about hot pot which is also fun and delicious at Korean barbecue they usually have a hot plate style device in the middle of the table and you cook on that. I have been to places that are buffet style and places where you get a set amount for the table then can order more after. But that is in Canada no guarantee they work the same in the uk
Mags was thinking of hot pot which is Chinese. Korean BBQ *should* be sort of like a build-your-own bite-sized lettuce wrap. You'll grill meats of your/the table's choice and have a bunch of sides around you, plus large leafy lettuce. Put meat and whatever sides/sauces you like, wrap it up and shove it in your mouth. You shouldn't have to worry about much spice, just stay away from red things and any peppers if it's a concern to you. Eastern spicy definitely hits different than Western spicy.

Everything was bad enough, but the last point, that the DM was basing the rules of the game off of hearsay from Actual Play shows he'd watched rather than picking up a book and looking at the rules, is maybe the most insane way to play a game I've ever heard. It gives the energy of someone who plays a game with complex controls, skips the tutorial, and then complains that the game is too hard because they're not doing the thing they're meant to. Except here, the DM was just using their role to try to control people's characters and make his own story for them happen. Gross. Glad OP is no longer a part of that, because it sounds terrible.
