Just bought a cream puff 06 Eclipse GT with 73k miles. Old lady had it. One owner and kept in a garage. She had it for almost 19 years. Less than 4k miles per year. Very strong 3.8. Super excited about this car for my son. Thx for this video.
I had a Mitsubishi 380 with this 6G75. Smooth and lots of power, but a thirst like a tin god ! I swapped cars with one of my sons (who needed a reliable car because he was doing significant mileage to and from work) I got his VP Commodore - also a 3.8 V6 - with huge mileage, and it actually used less fuel.
What vehicle is this out of? Also what are some of the main wear points in these engines that need replacing in a rebuild, valve stem seals and lifters maybe, what else?
Factory specs inside to outside in clockwise pattern. I forget the exact torque setting off the top of my head but it's the same for all of the Mitsubishi 6G family.
Hi, i got a 2003 montero limited, the same motor in it that you have in this vid, but mine has no compression , wondering if you have any advice on what to look for to trak down the problem. Thanks
If you're not getting any compression in any cylinders you need to check the timing. If the timing it out it can cause no compression. Same with an overheated engine the heads can warp.
@@JBurford Hi, thanks for the tip i will check this weekend the timing belt, when i turn the key the motor only spins but no ignition, new fuel pump , i took a look at the valves when i opend the oil cap and the moved freely , was thinking the piston rings probably stuck and leting the compresion escape, but i will chek timing , bught the montero like that so i dont have a history of what might of hapend to it. Thank you for your help i apriciated.
I have a 6G72. Very similar engines, but less displacement. Nice to see people keeping these engines alive.
I had the 6G72 in my 2nd and 3rd magnas. a TF and TE manual. They revved like crazy!!

Good memories bro, and 10k views, congrats!
Its interesting to see the inside of these great motors

My 380 is excellent on fuel, a great country car😅.
This engine was well maintained.
Nicely done Josh

Saved!!
What are the specs/procedure you use for the head bolt torque?

The COP setup was added?
This motor came out of a Mitsubishi 380 which has COP from factory. It can be left intact or removed as needed to whatever car it is going in.
Any part 2?
Shortly. I've been flat out at work. I have a lot more time for this now though.
