I have problems to start, have changed so many parts, now i think it is my decompression valve/pin The little thing to realise pressure when starting
Your video helped me a lot with this engine but I am afraid you might have done mistake fitting tenioner before head cover. This engine has camshaft positioned by head cover and in this scenario, right side of camshaft could have been lifted during tenionser installing , so putting head cover may lead to overtensioning chain.
My magneto and starter gear are both in good condition but after it has been torqued the starter gear has the smallest amount of in and out play. Must be the washer in between the starter gear and timing chain gear is wore? Should a guy replace the washer or could it be something else?
Did you place the washer at 2:56 as well? That one should eliminate the play. The washers shouldn''t wear down at all, especially to cause a noticeable play
Excellent video. I have a Massimo 500 that I am getting ready to get into. It cut off the other day. When I try to crank it turns real fast. I removed the side plate on the head yesterday and turned key. Timing sprocket didn't turn. What do you think? Thanks.
Could have broke the chain or it had too much slack that it disconnected from the crank sprocket that drives the timing chain. Either way sounds like you need to open it up and get it fixed!
Mine didn't have a needle bearing under starter clutch, is that ok kinda looks like a copper bushing pressed into the starter gear or something, what's your input on that

I rebuild mine years ago and its still sloppy on mine too, but my swing arm is broke where the bushings sit lol I might buy a used one soon and do a video overhauling the entire suspension
@Hunters_Mechanics man that would be great! I'm worried mine broke too but I didn't keep track of the order inwhich I took it apart like n idiot lol. Since the magnet sits on a key, the magneto will always show the position of the crank, so when the magneto is lined with the 'I", the piston will always be TDC
Hey dumb question. I think I already have the answer but I rather be safe than sorry. The magnet has a few markings. H l So I want to be aligned with the straight line all the way on the right (l). Not the (H)? Thanks for ur videos very helpful.
I have a question about position of the piston, its called top dead center but when you get everything done and lined up the piston is half way up or is it just mine?
You may have your cam installed 90° off, that would cause it to look like its at top dead center but in reality the piston is only half way to TDC. Unless you mean you have the bottom end gear lined up with the line in the case and its at halfway to TDC, then something is wrong lol let me know more details
@@Hunters_Mechanics The bottom is lined up at the bottom, and the cam is in line with the marks on the cam shaft has th holes up with the compression bolt on the side just as in your video but if I stick a screwdriver or wire to touch the piston its mid stroke Or in the middle . @@rickrob7380 are you for sure that the piston isn't at top dead center since the spark plug hole is so deep itself? If the bottom is line up with the marking inside the case or the slit on the case, that has to mean its at top dead center. @@Hunters_Mechanics i was thinking the same thing, I can set it on the line and put the wire on the piston and turn the crank shaft and then piston will push it out. And it will be past the line by then. I will pull it back apart tonight and let you know if you would like
