I did know that it was possible to deposit cash in an atm, but never trusted the machine. I was afraid the cash would show correctly on the atm, but not get posted to my account. There are some ATMs that are for withdrawals only. I would try another ATM, especially one attached to a branch of your bank (like a physical bank location).

In NYC Chase has an atm in Mt. Sinai hospital that has a deep compartment that ISN'T A SLOT. It grabs the money and then you receive a receipt reading no information!
No, no issues. The modern ATMs will count it and tell you how much is being deposited and you can double check it before confirming the transaction. You can say no and it'll give you the cash back if it's wrong. So as long as you know how much it is and it matches, there's not really anything that can go wrong.

I finally did the deposit at the ATM and there was a problem. The ATM took the money, but gave me a receipt saying something went wrong with the deposit. I went to the bank the next day and they corrected the problem.

No, for deposits, generally you're only able to make deposits into the ATMs of the bank that owns your account. So, you'd use a Chase ATM to deposit to a Chase Bank account. Also, you generally can't use an ATM to deposit onto a credit card, if that's what you mean by Visa card.
Maybe the one I visited was broken but the cash drawer where it's supposed to go in wasn't labeled and didn't open up or light up or anything...am I supposed to open it myself at some banks?? It didn't pop open. So weird. And frustrating😅

When you're doing the deposit, it'll show you what the machine is counting. If you disagree, you can cancel and get the cash back. If that happens, I would suggest going inside the bank to deposit. I've never had an issue though.

So I tried it for the first time 2 days ago. And I fed The bills into the machine one bill at a time not realizing that I could put them all in there at the same time. The last bill that I attempted to deposit got rejected. It was $100 bill very old $100 bill which to the touch felt thinner than the other bills. I'm going to walk into my bank this weekend to deposit it lol.

I believe it's usually available immediately even if it is night because the machine is verifying it. It probably varies by bank though.

That's going to depend on your bank's policies. I believe with Chase bank it's literally instant, even when it's not business hours.
