@@pulaski1 It's one thing to drop off a night deposit in a deposit box. It's entirely different to have an ATM eat the money and not not return a receipt or record the deposit. This is one of many reasons I hate ATMs.
@@texan-american200 There's a lot of ignorance in this video and in the comments - the ATM didn't "eat" the deposit, the ATM already read his ATM card, so the bank _knows_ who started the deposit transaction, and as noted elsewhere, it would be obvious that there was an excess of cash in the ATM's receipts magazine, so it is likely the customer would have been credited anyway. Whoever the customer spoke to at the bank's call center was unhelpful and disrespectful, and there is no excuse for that, but the video images captured were likely irrelevant to the reconciliation and investgation of the excess cash - the record of the ATM card would be sufficent to allocate the cash correctly to the customer's account. IMO the biggest mystery is why the customer went to the TV station, as that is the last place I would have thought to take my issue/ concerns about a lost deposit.

The bank has nothing to do with them, just like they don't own the cash machines at Walmart. So what if I use an atm that a friend owns and we edit the footage, should the bank still pay, after my friend gives them the edited version? With huge amounts be careful.
Why didn’t they just audit the machine to begin with.
LOOK AT HIM.......NOW GUESS WHY........
@@bl1429 how would they know he is black by talking over the phone?
@@Seiki52 By the way he speaks... I've had to same thing happened, and I used my white voice, over the phone. Someone was there on the spot. Closed the machine down, and did be an audit... got my money back..
@@bl1429 That's a shame you had to use your "white voice". I can't help but find this funny though 🤣
@@digi3218 That's how you get along in America if you are a person of colour. Apparently, the darker the skin, the more afraid they are. It’s sad that he had to go to the news station for help. Well this video was helpful. That’s a lot of money to lose out on. Especially when you got bills. So glad he got his money back!
@patrick sapanaro And they know that's a lie. Had he been a thief, they'd have NO problem reviewing the tape. I wonder if they're doing this because he's black and think he's "suspicious". The bank KNEW what to do, they're just lazy and too proud to admit they're wrong for mistreating him.
I said the same thing… all they had to do is look at the video 🤦🏾♂️
@@julianhudson9341 Totally agree
All they had to do was review the video or audit the machine. They should be investigated.
Yeah cuz guess what they don't want their f****** face to be ruined so when the news comes prying the door open they hate that s*** it's like the cops prying your door open and trying to find out if you have drugs in your house.
They should have been able to tell that there was an additional $1,300 in the ATM that wasn't accounted for.
That part!!!! ATM services??? It takes time for the bank to investigate. SMH

They were trying to keep that money.
The man went into the bank, they saw he was black and just assumed he wasn’t telling the truth until the media got involved.
@@studivan That could be the case here. That machine was audited AND they found a $1,300 overage, even if they did have an electronic glitch. In fact, an electronic glitch would almost guarantee that machine was audited the next business day.
Some shitty human being in the bank's security seems like a crook or a racist POS.
TITLE “Crooked Bank forced to give back money”
Oh they've already done doubled that in the stock market, and now willing to pay their interest free loan back.
😂😂😂
Some of them refure giving it back. There was a person deposit it and loses more than $1.2M and the banks refuse giving it back.
The most crazy thing is that another person deposit it for more than $10M and loses it all. No refund from the bank, instead the bank call a polices to throw the person out of their bank.
But you will go to prison if the bank accidentally deposits money in your bank account and you refuse to give it back.

Those ppl know damn well how easy it would be to verify if he actually made a deposit or not. He might want to consider changing banks
Exactly especially if they balance the machine themselves weekly instead of a third party vendor
But also keep in mind that majority of the actually machines aren't own by the bank. Security companies like Brinks usually maintain the machines.
@CitizenOWorld that is true, but keep in mind that he did use cash. So it is possible that it could be a mistake/theft on the company who owns the actual machine.
It if they accidentally deposited in his account and he took it out they would of pressed charges
Yep. And they didn't appear on camera because they KNEW they were wrong for not getting involved sooner.
When they balance the atm the extra money should be there. That's basic accounting. Were they planning on force balancing the atm and keeping the money? That's sketchy.
The man was black, they just assumed he wasn’t telling the truth from the start, when the media found out they decided to at least look at the video footage.
odd that when is a case of robbery,,they are quick to look at the camera footage,in this case the same method can be applied, just look at the footage! time and date!!
Those ATMs are counted down and they absolutely know if that machine was over someone thought they had a bonus
Agree. I used to be a teller at a bank 20 years ago and one of my duties was balancing the ATM. The local branch should have definitely known the ATM was over.
Or he could give his routing and account number and use that so when he gets paid, the money automatically gets transferred to his account.
@@DisneyCruiseShip He could do that after they count that machine down. If s ATM machine is attached to the bank meaning on the building the bank fills and count down that machine more than likely. If its a drive thru ATM Armored trucks normally pull those machines and they fill them but they are also counted down so they definitely noticed what ever machine he used was not accurate. Believe I was a head Teller for 5 years and we filled our machines attached to the building.
@@valc2228 Exactly someone knew that machine was not correct and they took that money thats why he was having a issue getting his money back because when they balanced if they put the machine was correct and not over or short. Alot people don't know that the actual branch counts there own atm machines if attached to the building because they always see armored trucks at the drive thru ones.
And hunni you are talking about direct deposit, he stated why he couldn't do that. If you have a cash business or get tip those actually can't be direct deposited. It was a check it was cash so you would need to go and do a deposit for those unfortunately.
I would take my money out of that bank they only looked at Camara after news got involved
How's about depositing your money in front of a live teller and getting a receipt? Is it that complicated?
@@texan-american200 Maybe the bank isn't open at a time convenient for him - I deposit almost all my business receipts into my bank's night deposit safe as they usually aren't open when I need to make deposits. I used to use their ATM until they stopped their ATMs allowing deposits. .... I have never had a problem either way.

It's one thing to drop off a night deposit in a deposit box.
Better to go inside the bank if over $500
@Error Report then make multiple small deposits to make sure they each go through not one large one that doesn't go throw. Not that hard. Inconvenient but better than being out a bunch of money and not be accuse of being call a liar.
Or do smaller deposits, like $80 at a time. Just to make sure it doesn't eat your money.
So if they never looked at the footage and discovered the overage of $1300 what was the bank going to do, keep it?

The bank has the capability to check the balance in the atm.
Shouldn’t even need to check the footage, if the cash was deposited, there will be a surplus in the machine that doesn’t match the internal counter.
thank you media for telling his story and helping this man! dont stay quiet and keep speaking and talking.
All they have to do is count out the machine. It should have an extra $1300 in it.
Yup, report the issue and ask for the ATM to be balanced. Stuff happens, but the banks do have recourse to check it out.
Yup. At the end of the day the machine should report $1300 discrepancy.
