I am of Gen X generation, so I grew up in 1970. We were poor. I mean my late dad was in the US Army, up until he got Asthma. My parents struggled while I was growing up in Anchorage, AK. So, living with my 5 brothers and sisters, I slept with my parents til I was about 9 or ten. Never had my own bed much less a bedroom. Your baby girl is extremely lucky to have a dad like you 😊
I feel so bad for you!!! My childhood was not that great because I had a condition where I had nightmares every night and I barely got any sleep at night but I’m better now. And I know what it feels like. Having 5 brothers and sisters can be tough. Because I have 7 siblings and it’s a lot because we were not rich so I shared a room with 4 of my siblings so I know what it feels like. I hope you are doing better now!
I love your projects. You mentioned have an upper respiratory issue, you might consider wearing a filtering respirator/mask as you cut and especially as you sand. The particles can get into your lungs and cause permanent damage and breathing issues. Just a safety suggestion for your health. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
Especially working with MDF, plastics and adhesives! I was thinking that through this whole build. He's young, but my stepfather (engineer / woodworker) would have freaked out about him not using protection and told him it only gets worse as you get older!
Awww your daughter will love this, reminds me of my Dad. No joinery skills, no power tools, yet me made me a sliding door, book case, shelf for ornaments, huge cupboard for storage, and beautiful dolls house, put staircase and electrics in it. Loved my dad so much x
It's nice seeing someone use mdf because it's absolutely perfect for making cheaper cabinets and is plenty strong enough for most cases, I actually made a Murphy bed and use just mdf for it and it's been 4 years still going strong, just mdf and pocket holes

I did something similar, but I used styrofoam for the wall and ceiling. A wire brush, razor, heat gun and paint, it looked like real wood. We put 4 drawers in the bed too and at the foot, put a door in the middle that we stashed their play rugs rolled up in. The stairs I used piano hinges and had baskets in them so they could take the whole thing out to play with and easily put back. My dad made pretty much every piece of furniture they own plus a lot of built in features too so I learned a lot from him. The best part is being able to make it functional, personal and creative! It’s gorgeous and worth every minute to see how happy your little princess is in her own space!!! 💕

This is the cutest bed/play space that you have created for your daughter. She is going to enjoy this for years to come. Thanks for taking us along on this build. Have a Blessed day.
The best thing about this (apart from the rad kid's bed that I think we're all jealous of) is that this is a great way to spoil your kid WITHOUT spoiling them. In her adult years, Harper is going to really appreciate all the time and effort her dad put into giving her the equivalent of a really expensive store-bought bed. He's teaching her that she can create amazing things with a bit of effort and time. Guarantee he's gonna have a lil' apprentice soon enough X3
This was my first time ever watching one of your videos. It was quite entertaining I've got to say. You're a pretty Amazing Father to take all that time to make something so dreamy and magical for your daughter. Priceless!! ❤️
The little balcony up there will become the best reading nook once she starts learning how to read. I also wish I had this as a kid 😆 My daddy doesn't have as many tools, but he did make me a bookshelf and a pantry for my mom.
Omg this was STUNNING and INSPIRING!!! Here I was coming here to learn how to build a bed for my kiddo, and I ended up totally invested in your vision! LOL this was stunning! I loved how you left the mistakes you made in there and how to fix them and not be a complete perfectionist! This came out flawless even with the minute mistakes made! WOW!
I love these cool kids' bunk bed vids. My dad made me a captain's bed when I was about 10 or so that I kept until I was 19 and couldn't fit into it any more. It was a beautiful piece of furniture. Passed it on to my young cousin when I couldn't use it any more and he got years out of it, too. One thing I'm surprised you didn't put in is a night light/reading light above the bed, with a switch on the side panel. As a youngster, she'll want to use it as a night light. But as she gets older, she'll want to use it for reading (which is something that all kids should be encouraged to do as much as possible). It'll also be useful when she need to get in and out of the bed , lighting the way to the switch for the room's main light switch, or into the hall for those late night kitchen and bathroom trips.
It really cool... But as a daughter of handy father - Id recommend you get your daughter into your projects and try if she likes it... I have very few memories of being her age - but I do remember time with my dad spend on making shelves and such... Plus it will help her develop on levels she won't be able to simply by playing with lego xd Not to mention bound you develop while crafting together

This really makes me miss my dad, he was always building awesome stuff for me. Your daughter will remember these kinds of things forever, I’m 29, lost my dad at 21 (he was 61), I know I still cherish the things he built for me, as well as the skills he taught me along the way, now I keep his garage alive by building in it myself, just like he used to.
Isn’t it so kind for parents to do so much work for their children??! They work so hard for us. Then when we grow up we might do the same. He is spending probably so much Money & Time for his Daughter. And I’m talking about all the videos he’s made. He does so much for these videos. Congrats to Him!!

Agreed, safety is a concern here. Not just the drawers but the height and bar spacing of the top railing, and possibly the depth and spacing of the stairs, but that one is harder to tell just looking at it on video.
Gosh no! Having to learn a lot more about environmental allergies for my little one under bed storage is a disaster. There is plenty in the stairs and built in.
@@mamavibetribe8878 As long as it’s cleaned out regularly, drawers under the bed or having the end able to lift on hinges is a great place to keep toys and shoes. Otherwise it is all just wasted space.

My son broke his arm really bad, almost a compound fracture, at 4 when an older kid pushed him off the top bunk bed. Trying to land on a couch nearby. His elbow went backwards pretty much. Needed surgery and hospital stay.
Amazing project, but I was thinking the same thing, especially the balcony area. If she stands up on her feet, that railing is pretty low and could add up to a pretty big fall if not supervised (like at night or nap times). Any kid would be super excited about this kind of bed, and be up in the middle of the night climbing things. But unlike older kids, the little ones don't have that understanding of danger. Maybe a plexiglass sheet to cover the open space (or even over the window by the stairs). I know some might say it's being over cautious, but as a child I had a friend who shared a room with her younger sister - they had a bunk bed. Older sister on the top bed, younger on the bottom... but that didn't stop the younger sister from trying to climb the ladder in the middle of the night. She fell, broke her back, and became a paraplegic at the age of 3 because of it.
@@Melly.K11 my nephew somehow fell out of bed on the LOWER bunk bed during the night and broke their arm at 5. Not even much of a fall. Must have landed just wrong. We want to wrap them in bubble wrap sometimes, but we can't always protect them from everything. But we take precautions where we can. My sister and I were always falling down the stairs somehow. But my kids, raised from birth in a house with stairs, never fell down the stairs.
This man is so slick! 🔥 👏 Amazing. I would request small rollers or such on the bottom of the bed to move in and out. So the rug could be switched out. And storage under the bed.
Very relaxing watching your videos, thank you! I think you will eventually find it useful to have installed a reading light over the headboard area. I hope this isn't critical, it's not meant to be, but rounded corners on the drawers facing the bed may save a bad bump one day. I'm sure this will be well loved!
Love that my little girl chose to watch this as her dad built her d as well. But the one thing that stood out for her was the tshirt “mistakes makes us better” She noticed it and said it was right & how we learn from our mistakes. 🥰
This is exquisitely lovely, right down to the colour palette. If Karlsberg made fathers...! I'm sure you've warned her to never try to land on the bed from the balcony (as I would have done). Just a word to the wise!
Jesus! My dad promised me and my brothers our own room when we were ten. I'm 32 and our shared kids bedroom with bare concrete walls and black mold still looks like that to this day. All three of us were moved out at 18 y.o and shared that room all of our years in that house 💀 A dad like you would've been a godsend ❤️
How old are you that you are jealous of a stranger building a bed? It's embarrassing how you "adults" are acting on here.. it's called idol worship and it's very dangerous. I hope you're not teaching your children how to be jealous and weird towards strangers on the Internet.

But the one thing that stood out for her was the tshirt “mistakes makes us better”
She noticed it and said it was right & how we learn from our mistakes. 🥰
Absolutely gorgeous. How lucky you daughter is.
This is exquisitely lovely, right down to the colour palette. If Karlsberg made fathers...! I'm sure you've warned her to never try to land on the bed from the balcony (as I would have done). Just a word to the wise!
Stunning, your daughter is a lucky little girl! Kudos to you daddy. ❤❤😊😊
Oh my gosh. It looks amazing, and she can close the curtains and just have her private star gazing space. What a lucky kid. Great job dad!
She's gonna love this bed
What a lucky little girl! It's beautiful.
Looks great. Some under bed drawers would maybe be a useful tweak for extra storage?
Lovely princess bed. Impressive wall of tools! ❤ Impressive design and build
!
That is beautiful!!!! It would have been fun to see the look on her face when she first saw it!
So Awesome..❤❤❤❤❤
I’m so jealous. I wish I had something like this for my girls. Bravo!
How old are you that you are jealous of a stranger building a bed? It's embarrassing how you "adults" are acting on here.. it's called idol worship and it's very dangerous. I hope you're not teaching your children how to be jealous and weird towards strangers on the Internet.
That is gorgeous! I would just worry about the stair like drawers next to a window for a small child. That would be a no for me.
You are a Rockstar of Fatherhood!!! Your little princess will love it!
This is amazingly BEAUTIFUL!!! What a lucky little girl!
