Tried the Signet once and it was an instant top 3 of all time. So unique and rich! Saving for a bottle now, definitely a special occasion whiskey. Keep up the great work on these videos, love your style of review.
It's been so long since I've had the Lasanta (that bottle was empty long before I thought of this video idea), I don't even remember my tasting of it. Maybe I need to pick up a bottle of that and The Original to refresh my memory. ;)
Since I avoid the heavy peated whiskies in search of a 'lilting hint of peat', I might actually like the 16. The thing is that the local state liquor nanny doesn't stock this particular option. I have been tippling with the Lasanta and the Quinta Ruban for almost a decade now and the latter actually took the throne in my cabinet for years. I recently stumbled across the Nectar d'Or and my first impression was to exult that I'd finally found a 'summer Scotch'. I love the sweet presentation followed by the medium to long dry finish. I will recommend it to any of my peat-averse drinking companions. Given the number of other labels and offerings out there, I suspect I will always have one of these in my selection list, but I have to avoid the tendency to allow Glenmorangie to take over my small assembly entirely. I have yet to try their 10 year offering, but I hear it is an excellent candidate for the light, dry "classic" Scotch...along with the likes of, say, the Dalwhinnie 15. No Allta here, just north of you. The sampler collection sells for $33 here, well worth a waltz around the basic flavors. And, I think you may have a successful nominee in my Big Zero Decision....what bottle to buy to celebrate my 70th birthday. Signet sounds like a big winner. Glenmo and chocolate coffee flavor notes...**swoon** What PacNorwester wouldn't love such a thing?
I love your breakdown of the different expressions, Kelly! Well done. And do celebrate your 70th well, hopefully with a dram (or bottle) of Signet. Cheers and Happy Birthday!
Just bought 2 malaga's, 1 cognac, 1 palo cortado and managed to get a amontillado as well thanks to a friend in the uk. So happy with this batch...and all under a 100 euro a piece so pretty good.
Always love the smooth licks in the background. Just got my hands on a 37y.o. Cadenheads bottling of Glenmorangie - therefore thinking of re-acquainting myself with the core range beforehand.
@@WhiskyRiffs I tasted it last night and really liked it! Definitely one of the rare deals in Scotch whisky. Tastes like something you would pay twice the $50 price tag.
I got the Signet at UK Duty Free last year (such a great deal there) and know this will be a bottle that needs to be on my shelf for those special occasions.
My wife and I just arrived in Cyprus yesterday and I saw a bottle of Signet in the duty-free shop. It was very difficult to resist it, but I couldn't justify the purchase with us traveling again in a month. Cheers!
The expressions I have(or had) are the 10 Original, 14 Quinta Ruban, 18 Extra Rare, and Signet. A friend of mine shared with me the 19 travel retail as well. I just love the Signet: so complex, so unique among whiskys, it has a special place in my heart. My wife and I were having a dram of that one, and we had also JW blue to compare it, and the Glenmo just blew the JW out of the sky. For a 200+ dollar investment, I would choose to replace that bottle as an anniversary or xmas present. Next I would place the 18: Sweet, with a hint of fruitiness and very elegant, that is a great bottle as well. The 14 is also a favorite of mine, and I have a dram of that one when I eat steak or pork. Great for food pairings. Not a great fan of the 19, its more one-dimensional for me compared to the 18. The 10 is a good value, and a great way to initiate someone to the Glenmorangie style.
Great review. I keep hearing such great things about Signet. I might need to finally take the leap and bring a bottle home! As for the rest, I like them all and will likely bring them home again, but not rushing to do so. Thanks for sharing!
Getting every expression that I want isn't even close to being within the bounds my budget. But I do make the occasional exception for something like Signet and haven't regretted it. Cheers, Jon!
What I have just started doing is bottling a small sample when the bottle is near empty and then writing on the sample info whether I would buy it again. I can revisit it and decide for sure when I get around to drinking the sample.
My bottle of Allta had too few milliliters of whisky to give it a proper tasting, but given the missing content, I obviously enjoyed it. ;) Thanks for sharing your price point. Cheers!
Tayne also has a spice taste but somehow with repeat visits it’s a great Glenmorangie. Disliked at first but the finest pepper finish whiskey I’ve tried. Way better than paul johns and classic laddie (which I don’t like Yeesh)
Portwood every time for me! Give me a bottle, lock me away, and leave me the heck alone! I'd love to try the Signet Kevin........ Will you be my friend?? 😉
🤣 I'm happy to be your friend, Steve. But unless you're in the San Francisco area, it's going to be hard to offer a taste of the Signet. 😉 But if I could provide every viewer with a taste of my favorite drams, I would. Cheers!
Question: I frequently see these tasting videos where multiple drams are poured and I always wonder - what does the presenter do with these poured glasses after filming the video? For me, it would be too much whisky to consume in one sitting. Does it get poured back into the (or a) bottle? Does it get drunk? Or does it get poured down the drain?
Never "poured down the drain!" ;) But I do use caps on the Glencairn glasses to save my pours for later during the video editing process (or the next night if I have several pours). Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs I didnt drink it, but I bought the bottle azuma makoto edition (same whisky, different case) - 15 years ex bourbon + 3 years ex sherry. I hope it is good 😆
It's expensive, but I think the Signet is a special expression. I'd prefer to pay $200 rather than the $280 that I'm seeing online now, but many whisky brands are running at a premium price today.

Thanks, Artem! I was a bit scared that my Signet is half empty. I might need to start saving up as well. Cheers!
The Signet is my personal all time favourite whisky. A really memorable bottle and I hope it wasn't my last time getting hold of one!
I have started planning for a replacement bottle.
I’m not huge into Gelnmorangie but I do love the 14yr Port Cask, can’t go wrong with it, definitely worth keeping on the shelf!
The Quinta Ruban keeps calling me back to it. It's an old friend at this point and I enjoy it's company. Cheers!
I've had the collection set and for me, Lasanta will always have a place on my shelf

Nice score! Enjoy your batch of new bottles. Cheers!
The Signet was the first whisky I tried that was a must keep for my bar. It's so delicious I recommend it to everyone I drink with.
That's cool! I need to share it more with friends. The pandemic has made this much more difficult. Cheers!

Ooooo! I've never heard of that expression. After tasting it, do let me know your thoughts, Richie. Cheers!
Love your reviews.. it makes me feel like I am tasting each of those whiskey with you 😊
That's excellent to hear, Paul - the best compliment I could get. Cheers!
I picked up the La Quinta Rubin recently based on your review and am hoping to give it a try this weekend.
I hope you like it. This is in a rotation for me where I enjoy the Port finish and then I prefer Sherry or no wine finishing.

I love with your recap. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. I have a sample of the Signet waiting for me and I can't wait to taste it.
Thanks, Marrick! Samples are great. I wish more distilleries offered them because full bottles get mighty expensive. Cheers!
I haven’t had the Signet yet, but plan to to try it eventually.
It's worth trying a sample in a good whisky bar (or at a friend's) before buying it. That's an investment that you don't want to waste. Cheers!
@@WhiskyRiffs Sounds like a good plan!
I do like The Tribute, cause it remembers me about the Highland Park whisky. Greetings from Brazil.
I think Highland Park is a good comparison. Cheers from Naples, Italy! (we just moved out of San Francisco)

Do more reviews. You are good!
Thank you! It's harder now that I'm traveling the world with my wife (@FindingGinaMarie), but I do what I can. Cheers!
It's the Allta for me. Relatively unavailable now but just picked up for $114.

Signet all the way. If not, it has to be the Quinta Cuban 100%
I completely agree. Cheers!
