  • Two League of American Bicyclist Certified Instructors traverse part of the route on Hermosa Avenue in Hermosa Beach that is marked with Sharrows. This video is posted to help the Newewport Beach Bicycle Safety Committee see how such a Sharrow route on PCH in Newport Beach would function. Here is the video that this video supports:
    • The case for Sharrows ...
Please note that lead cyclist (Dan) is tracking at about 15 feet from the curb, which is the optimal placement for Sharrows in a lane that is 20 feet from the curb face as can be seen in this image:

Could I have a copy of that lane position study that you did?

@ 0:!1 Neither of you stopped completely at the stop sign, which you are required to do.

+Derek Michaels Putting a foot down is not required at stop signs. Groups of cyclists generally move through an intersection together as a single vehicle.

+Patrick94GSR Making a full stop here is required by law which means putting a foot down and stopping. Most cyclists I see seem too lazy to do this and just roll illegally through stop signs. This makes me upset cause it gives everyone else a bad name.

It is possible to come to a complete stop for a split second without putting a foot down. CyclingSavvy teaches this, and we did it in the class I took. The League may teach it also.
