The Big Bang Theory created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007, and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast 279 episodes over 12 seasons.
The show originally centered on five characters living in Pasadena, California: Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), both physicists at Caltech, who share an apartment; Penny (Kaley Cuoco), a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's similarly geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Over time, supporting characters were promoted to starring roles, including neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), and comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman).
The show was filmed in front of a live audience and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. It ultimately reached the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times for Parsons. In total, it won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations.
Say what you want about her, but she owned every scene she was in. 😂😂😂
The actress is great, she's not the character.
Chuck Lorre is an idiot; she never got what she deserved.
@redacted2275
I hate when commenter mix actor & role too, but the statement works either way in this case.
@@youmustcreateachanne Bruh. The last four season were GARBAGE and a disappointment.
Absolutely!
It's actually really sweet that Sheldon defended Penny to Leonard's mom- especially since she didn't even know it happened. Shows just how much she meant to him
True what scene was that agin? I think it’s because she reminded him of his twin sister Missy
Imo he always thanked her for changing him in a deep way
"Oh dear woman can you read another book". 😂 Best sentence
“When God writes one, I will” 😂
@@josephvillalobos5233 I see what u did here.😅
The comeback was even just as EPIC, 😂😂😂
And yet, Sheldon’s mom was the better mother, in all her simplicity.
@@elden5052totally agree
This actress nailed every role she played throughout the years! I saw her a lot in movies and series back in the 90s as a teenager.
I was just thinking the same thing. That is quality right there. She can play just about any type of part, extremely well. She does haughty biatch real well.
She's amazing on The Good Wife and The Good Fight.
@@TheBabarSuhail I first saw Christine Baranski on Cybil Shepherd's sitcom as her near-psychotic best friend. Comedy or drama, she can play anything.
She’s in Mamma mia too.😁
Lover her in Chicago
My both parents were therapists. Nobody can laugh more about her because this is so close to reality 😂
@hannabergmann8831 Oh no! I thought it was ridiculous comedy.
Seriously??
My sympathies - you must be a really strong person! (Only one sister who had a doctorate degree - I loved her anyway!)
No. She analyses people against their will. Psychotherapists do this with their children, I know some of them and they all hate it. And she has "cold empathy". This means, she understands why people behave the way they behave, she even understands their feelings but she just doesn't care about them. This is not uncommon. I experienced this with my dad (as Leonard with Beverly). Beverly is not the worst. She just doesn't care about other people, but she doesn't use her psychological knowledge to manipulate them.
@@hannabergmann8831interesting point. She’s „just“ drop dead honest to the point it hurts but indeed it’s not with a per se negative intention.
The hug between Leonard and his mom, seemed just about as awkward as Voldemort hugging Draco during the battle of Hogwarts. 😅
The firts one, the last one was actually really hurtful
The last one was perfect
Brilliant and exactly descriptive. 💯
Penny and her future Mother-in-law getting loaded together. One of the gems of the series.
Loaded meaning have intercourse?
@@user-uq7jm4ix1n No, loaded as in getting drunk.
@@user-uq7jm4ix1nbro wtf
*"YOUR MOTHER IS HERE!!!"* 😂😂😂
And the rest is history.
The last part she took a lesson from Mrs. Cooper. Mrs. Cooper gave Sheldon affection that helped his self esteem to not give up but it cost him his social skills. He wasn't very social until Penny started being part of his daily life.
I know this is about Leonard's mom, but honestly, Penny was the best thing to happen to both Sheldon and Leonard. Sheldon developed social skills, and Leonard self respect.
Sheldon is autistic
Christine Baranski can do no wrong in my book--she is such a fantastic actress!!
I'm tell you that women is? she was reminds her of Dr. Lilith Sternin of Frasier.
True
Thank You for reminding me of Christine's First Name.
The Big Bang Theory was just super fantastic as I've said before, when talking about the Clip's I've seen. Now rehashing the Episode's has a real zeal too them. For the former one about Leonard's Mom? Played by the Very Talented, and extremely, & Greatly accomplished Actress Christine Baranske. Man what Role couldn't this Woman Play. Till recently I'll admit I couldn't place Her in thing's, other than Mama Mia, and some other smaller Roles. But Truely She is Dynamite 🧨🧨 and Gunpowder Mixed into a lethal Combination of just Fantastic abilities, that come out when She is in Front of the Cameras. She's a definite universal ♾️ phenomenon of the Entertainment Industry that She's excellently Suited For. Thank You so Much for Sharing these Fantastic memories with US.
To Miss Baranske I wish Her Continued Success and Good luck with Her Life. May God Bless You. 👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏👏🤔🤔.
Agreed.
Out of all scenes with her I always thought the last scene before the show the ended was the best. The best form of closure acceptance and love. Such a great show and great writing.
The last scene was so emotional that the audience became silent.😢
No laugh track for once😊
I admit, I cried. 😂😂😂😂😂
Nothing beats watching a veteran character actress not only steal the scenes but own them! God I love this woman.
The "i have to urinate" scenes were totally overlooked 😂
Love Christine Baranski. She's awesome
She was also Martha May in Jim Carrey’s The Grinch 💚
She was hilarious as Maryann Thorpe in Cybill.
Brilliantly written and acted. That last hug! Nuff said. 🙂
Her first gesture that felt like genuine affection. You could even tell from her hesitation how hard it was for her to let that part of herself show.
I'm glad they let it be a serious moment
5:01-5:05
"You guys saw it, we bonded." 😂
She is an amazing actress. she truly can transform into any role. Seriously from Mamma Mia to this row; it’s such a crazy range.
Know her from Mamma Mia too!
And The Good Wife, and Cybil Shepherd's sitcom. Baranski's range is remarkable.
AND MARTHA MAYYY
And "Happy Family" sitcom
Now I understand why he doesn’t move out from the apartment no matter how difficult it is with his rules and all to live with Sheldon it’s because his mom is like Sheldon
Wow! Hadn't thought of it that way.
Oh so you just want us all to weep huh?? Wow.
6:06 "well we can't have that". 😂😂😂
my favourite part 😂
"Well also If they DID have coitus we'll all be needing a skilled psychotherapist" 🤣
I feel so bad for Leonard. His mom called him a whiny baby, humiliated him, wouldn’t show him approval, tell him she was proud of him, favored his siblings and their achievements, wouldn’t show him affection, and abused him emotionally
you are so needy
And those were her good points.
@@pouetpouetdaddy5😂😂😂
I always thought Beverly was a female Sheldon, unable to communicate human emotions well. Maybe that's why she and Sheldon got along so well.
Well...leonard is so needy
Wish they showed more into the mother-son dynamic. A quick episode of Leonard forgiving his mother in the end and somehow we are to believe that years of trauma is healed by a single discourse. I liked her scenes with Penny. And more with Penny as well. It would have been great if they showed her interactions with Leonard's siblings as well. The show majorly focussed on Sheldon's family because by the end they had to set up for Young Sheldon. Wish they alternated between each of the characters' childhood and growth phase. That would have been fun.
Sometimes the years of trauma are wiped away with a tear.
Its not an instant healing, its a start in the right direction.
@@kharilane1340 Iagree with you to some degree. But I do believe I shouldn't expect so much from a sitcom with limited time of interaction.
@@user-yq3fz9ch5q 🙃 I guess, sometimes, yeah.
She was the life of the party
Oh lord, Beverley Hofstadter is indeed witty and humorous. 😅😂.
I love how, over the course of the show, Beverly befriends Penny the same way Sheldon does. Penny learned to read them both like a book and used that to her advantage too lol.
Even more endearing is that Leonard, indirectly, got it confirmed to him that between himself and his siblings, *he* is by far the happiest, has the most stable marriage and arguibly the most genuine relationship with their mother, even if it isn't always pleasant.
"So needy..." 😂
“… and if she’s good enough for him then she’s good enough for me” wow😭😭
When someone told me that Leonard's mother was going to appear on TBBT, my first thought was, "I bet Baranski plays her!"
She was magnificent!
What a therapist she must be. Cold, condescending, zero empathy, aloof, and self-centered. Must be thrilling to be her patient.
In fairness, she seems to be far more of a researcher than an actual therapy practicing psychiatrist, I think. I could be wrong but I can’t see her administering therapy
@@10293 you may be right. I never watched the show just these clips. Regardless she shouldn’t use her title and position to label, demonize, and bring people down. She seems more like a sociopath than a mental health professional.
Psychiatrist! She doesn’t counsel people, she really just prescribes medication which explains why she’s so analytical
@@zainabaria6838 that’s not always true. Some shrinks in private practice will provide therapy. Some in hospitals will be primarily meds only. But whatever the case she has to do at least some sort of patient interview to find out what the symptoms/problems are in order to prescribe the right meds. To do this correctly requires some empathy, positive regard, and a general desire to help people. This woman has none of those traits.
@@zainabaria6838Psychiatrists sometimes do counseling. The one I saw after a suicidal crisis prescribed therapy instead of medicine (I am obese so medicine is seen more as a last resort than it already is), and we did that for 16 weeks.
Did eventually end up using ashwagandha for medicine though, “prescribed” by my GP. That finally worked, which was good because if it hadn’t then I would’ve had to start Wellbutrin.
When Mary and Beverly fought, where is this iconic scene 😂 Leonard and Sheldon should actually switch moms.
No, Sheldon needed his warm loving mom
A brilliant brilliant actress! Thank you Christine Baranski!❤
"I've been writing about my mother!"
Penny's face tho 😂😂😂
The ending got me thinking... Why isn't there a Young Leonard show?
Because that would be nothing short of a thriller drama!
I loved him as David in Roseanne
@@NiVi192Yeah, to find a good scene in his childhood would be really REALLY hard!
Everybody Hates Leonard
Because Sheldon’s family has redeeming qualities, Leonard’s mom is described as being downright terrible the whole time
Even Beverley can't see that penny manipulate Beverley to stay
Penny was always written well. She might not have had the education the guys had, or the other girls, but she wasn't stupid and was very good with people.
How did Leonard not turn into a serial killer.
a good heart stays good
Christine Baranski is a gem! Great actress
Christine Baranski owned this role.
Bible thumping bumpkin! I died! 😂😂😂😂
She’s a hilariously good actress
5:08 Wow, Judd Hirsch plays Leonard's father! Cool...
I loved the episode where Leonard and his mother came to point where she was grateful to be "forgiven." The hug was extremely moving.
0:37 this one always had me going 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😅
Too bad that it wasn't included the moment when she starts to destroy Howard and Raj 😂😂😂
I always loved the part when Howard say 0:46 " what nooo!!" and Beverley misunderstood and say "why not?"
Introducing his mother explains why Leonard gravitated toward Sheldon in the first place.
Her character is evidence of a brilliant writing 😊
I love her honest opinion of Raj and Howard
She really is one of the best actresses in the business
I really wish they had revealed that Leonard brothers found success after cutting ties with her after realizing she was a terrible mother who didn't deserve their love and not the other way around.
But from what we have seen, Leonard siblings are very much like her.
Loved her in Chicago, but this show is where she really won me over ❤ amazing actress and really fun to mimic her voice~
Always entertaining when she comes on
"I don't see why i should watch your father parade around with some Bible thumping bumpkin" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Christine Baranski is so underrated.
Christine Baranski is a treasure.
When phenomenal writing and great acting drive each other to astonishing heights.
Surprisingly the last scene made me cry 🥺
Baranski is a wonderful actor.
She was hilarious on Cybil and she is brilliant on TBBT.
Son of a b....that's where I first saw her. I totally forgot about that show. Used to watch it all the time because she was hilarious!
Aloha hienz57 says hey yeah I mean cybil was so funny I hated to watch skinny women though her character cracked me up long live the truth
1:50 omg she's a dark horse😂😂😂😂 😂😂
I like to think that Beverly was inspired in Piaget who experimented on his own kids, if I remember correctly xD
I swear Leonards mother is like Cruella lol
That last scene had me bawling like a baby. Lol 😭😭😭😭🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
She gives Mary a hard time for being a Christian but at least she really loved her kids and didn't experiment on them. She wasn't perfect but she loved them all very much and was there for then when they didn't tell them.
Loved the smile on Leonard’s face when Beverly asked Howard about his homosexual feelings to Raj!
7:42 Penny’s disgusted face was the same face I made. I love it.
One of the few things actually good through out the show was her. Especially the clash with Sheldons mother was well written and hilarous. Not like mote of the other stuff especially later seasons...
Like FRIENDS & SEINFELD, one of my favorite things in BIG BANG THEORY was the parents & families of the main characters. I couldn’t wait for each of them to reappear again.
I love all her scenes! ❤️
What an actress!
It’s strange they never show Leonard’s brother and sister
It's funny to see how, as the show progresses, everybody (including Beverly) is going through a positive change. And I think Penny moving in is what set that in motion.
Think about it. It was just the four men in the beginning. Sheldon, Raj, Howard, Leonard. Their life was confined to their academic work, and their share hobbies. When Penny moved in, Leonard and Sheldon (the latter involuntary) connected to someone who did not really share their interests.
And because Penny knew Bernadette, She and Howard ended up together. Because of Penny, Raj overcame his muteness in the presence of women.
Because of Penny, Amy became more confident. And even frosty Beverly warmed up, was proud of her son for marrying well, and eventually became able to express affection towards her son. You might even say that because of Penny, Sheldon was able to find love for a mate, which ended up in him winning the Nobel Prize.
Best actors, best writing. I miss this show but enjoying the reruns. Btw, all are great but looking back, Kaley Cuoco was awesome in this show!
Yeah Im a fan of Christine. Nobody does comically condescending as well. And on THE GOOD WIFE/THE GOOD FIGHT playing Dianne she even pulled off dignified yet vulnerable....
Leonard's reaction to "your mother is here" 😂😂
00:55 Love how Howard is nodding yes the whole time he's denying it.
Excellent character Arc 👏
aww that ending scene ❤
The last scene - end part really got me -
1:57 mommy 😢 😂😂
Why am I craving an interaction between Beverley and Captain Holt's mom
I’ve always loved Buranski 😂😂😂 this character always reminds me of the extremely emotionally distant mom on 2 1/2 Men
5:07 best scene 😂😂
Penny trying to thaw the iceberg and actually making some progress!
One of the best parts of the show.
The way she said "Penny"🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Christine Baranski is a phenomenal actress. She owns her characters. Truly skilled.
6:10 well we can’t have that 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Brilliant show ❤
3:50 😂😂😂😅 omg as Penny said
5:06 This scene, omg... I cried so hard out of laughter, it's just pure gold
Love to see her and this character more in a series or appearances in other series
If you think this was top rate, check out Diane Lockhart on The Good Wife!
The last clip was was heart warming.
I loved it when Sheldon's mother and Leonard's mother met ❤
I love her!
I'll be honest. Even though I hate Beverly I admit I love her legs
She's a trained dancer irl. You can see her dance skills in "Mama Mia"...memorable partying cougar. 😅 (not sure which MM though... i forget)
@@CG-CowgirlGeek she's the 25th actress with the best legs ever in my opinion. I also rank her 2nd among actresses who are old enough to be my grandmother (behind Sigourney Weaver). I also admit I forgot she was in Mamma Mia when I watched the show
@@CG-CowgirlGeekI know that she was in the first one, but I've never watched either of them.
She has good legs
@@argumedo12 yeah. I really wish I could touch them
If anyone wants to see her in a leading role you should check out a show called The Good Wife, really good show regardless as well.
I can’t with Beverly while she’s drunk 💀🤣 I lost it when she kissed Sheldon
She is hands down my favorite character 😂
stunning actress every scene she kills it
2:25➡️Sheldon spoke very fondly of her!😂
“Oh my god”😂😂😂
That last one almost made me cry
