    Knives Out Movie Description:
The circumstances surrounding the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey are mysterious, but there's one thing that renowned Detective Benoit Blanc knows for sure -- everyone in the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family is a suspect. Now, Blanc must sift through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.
Knives Out is a 2019 American mystery film written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman. It follows a master detective, Benoit Blanc, investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. The ensemble cast includes Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.
Johnson conceived Knives Out in 2005 and decided to make the film after finishing Looper in 2012. However, due to his involvement in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he did not write the screenplay until 2017. Knives Out was announced in 2018, and it was sold to distributors during the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. Filming was completed in three months from October to December 2018.
Knives Out had its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2019 and was theatrically released in the United States on November 27 by Lionsgate Films. It received universal critical acclaim, particularly for its screenplay, direction, and acting, and it grossed $312.9 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, it received three nominations in the Musical or Comedy category while also receiving Best Original Screenplay nominations at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards and 92nd Academy Awards. It was selected by the American Film Institute and the National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2019.
In March 2021, Netflix paid $469 million for the rights to two standalone sequels written and directed by Johnson, with Craig reprising his role. The first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, was released in theaters and is set to be on Netflix on December 23, 2022.

4:38 I CAN ANSWER THAT! Whenever Blanc hits that key on the piano, Lt. Elliott asks what time they arrived at the party. It was to make sure their stories matched up~

Well, you did ask for a favorite mystery movie, so let me recommend the same one I always recommend to everyone: The Last of Sheila, a 1973 masterpiece that I think is the only murder mystery I have ever seen that was written directly for the screen (not adapted from some other source) that is even cleverer than Knives Out. I mention this one especially since, in several interviews with cast members of Knives Out, they mention The Last of Sheila as the movie they wanted to emulate. As to a favorite mystery book -- and again, we're talking about the ingenuity of the mystery, not other literary qualities -- I think the clear standout is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie (1926), a book no mystery lover should miss, followed closely by two books by John Dickson Carr: The Three Coffins (1935, also known as The Hollow Man), and The Burning Court (1937). I hope you get a chance to experience these for yourself; I guarantee you will enjoy them enormously.

So Blanc actually notices the blood on Marta's shoe right away. You can see him look down in the scene where they first meet.

The Clue movie is great, and I did play the game as a kid. It's pretty simple. You just have a set of cards representing a room, a weapon, and a murder suspect and you put one of each into an envelope without looking at them because they represent the answer to the mystery. Every other card is distributed among the players and they use a notepad to mark what cards they have, which represent what the answer CAN'T be. You role dice to move your pieces around the mansion and go to whichever room you think the murder happened in and say "I think X suspect did it in Y room with Z weapon". Anyone with X, Y, or Z in their hand then has to show one of those cards to the player to prove their accusation incorrect. The player marks the newly eliminated possibility off on their notepad, and the rest of the players continue to make educated guesses until one of them gets it right. You can just make random guesses the whole time, but if you want to employ a little strategy you could study the moves the other players make to deduce which cards nobody has and must therefore be in the envelope. It's great for teaching young children basic logic and deductive reasoning.

If you loved Knives Out than you will love Inside no. 9. It's an anthology series, 7 seasons, 6 episodes per season and a Halloween & Christmas special, each 30 minutes long. The two actors also play in each episode different characters, write and produce the show. It has comedy, horror, murder mystery, and an insane twist every time. They also made The league of gentlemen and Psychoville. They are good, but Inside it's just on another level. If you loved Monthy Python you will love their content. And the best part is that if you don't like an episode the next will be a certain hit. You should check it out,, give it a try, it's worth it.

Literally the only reason I thought Chris Evans would be the killer, is that actors who play good guys for a long time (like Captain America), almost immediately play a villain role right after. I had no idea I was right until the reveal, so I can pretend to be a genius;] This is my fav movie of all time (tied with Wonder Woman). Fav mystery book is The 7 & 1/2 Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton and The Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith. Other Mystery books: One By One by Ruth Ware, The Stranger Diaries by Elly Grifiths, A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson, I Is For Innocent by Sue Grafton, The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, The Passengers by John Marrs, Magpie Murders & The Word Is Murder by Anthony Horowitz. Any of the books by these authors are great.
