Great comparison. My company issued me a work laptop so I’ve sold my personal MacBook Air and replaced it with an 11” iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. Haven’t looked back!
Great review and video! Love the intro and love the colorful set up and choices between all the devices. Subscribed! I have an M1 MacBook Air and a 2018 12.9 iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard/Pencil 2 combo. I love having the combination of macOS and iPadOS devices. I use my iPad Pro for Notability (as a medical student…game changer!) and my MacBook Air for most other things. I bought the Magic Keyboard because it adds a tremendous amount of flexibility to the iPad. I think I am going to go ahead and upgrade my 2018 to an M1 iPad Pro since it works with my peripherals, that way I can get more mileage out of the expensive Magic Keyboard. The other problem I am having with my 2018 is RAM. The 4GB of RAM was too little in 2018, and even worse in 2021.
Great review - The only issue I have is not having LTE available on the Macbook Air. Having instant connectivity on the Ipad Pro makes it the winner for me. I am a road warrior and having to either tether my phone or having a separate wifi connection is a pain and not very reliable.
I really appreciate how fast and accurate you get the information across. Your videos give me knowledge of the product without wasting my time or having to playback on 2x speed and miss important information.
I Gotta say, I've been looking at a lot of reviews concerning both these devices, and hands down you've given the best break down for both. Hats off to you for such a great video!

iPad Pro is always my secondary device, which I use mainly for media consumption, video editing and sometimes note-taking.

Great video! I have been using an iPad instead a laptop for awhile now. I mainly use my 2021 iPad Pro to manage my family’s photos and videos. I’ve been considering switching to a MacBook Air because I think it might be easier to do what I’m using the iPad for. I also have an iPad Mini.

I’m not sure what to do I have the iMac 24 inch was wondering whether to get the iPad for general web browsing and watching videos. iMac I use for photo editing etc but I want a second screen…MacBook air is cheaper….I will check out the stores and get a feel for them both I guess

I have the 11 inch iPad Pro 11 inch and I love it because it’s a great addition to my workflow. It’s good enough to substitute for a laptop when you’re on the go, but I totally agree that it cannot outright replace a proper laptop/desktop.
I still use a desktop setup and my 2015 MacBook Pro for work, and combined with the iPad Pro, it makes my life so much easier because it’s a secondary laptop which I can do almost 90% of my daily tasks on, a digital notebook that I can use to take handwritten notes (which I can instantly convert to typewritten text using GoodNotes), and it’s much lighter than my old MacBook.
If you’re a student and/or if you already have a laptop and you want a versatile and portable device to supplement your workflow, the 11 inch iPad Pro would be a good buy. And just go for the 11 inch-the 13 inch is too unwieldy to be portable and ergonomic. If you want just one device, and if you want a bigger screen, you’re better off with a MacBook Air at the very least.

Watched 10000 videos of comparisons between those devices and still cant decide OMG!!
If you’re student who is trying to pick really just one out of these two, I suggest you to watch videos done by different users (students/worker)
Personally, iPad is still incomparable to a computer yet. Imagine doing a project with a lot of tabs or loading different videos and downloading many files to be used at once. A computer still stands out for a versatile device.

I got MacBook Air M1 this month
Battery life is insane
But they should give 3 pin adapter instead of 2 pin because body gets current when charging

I just purchased the iPad Pro and I love it!!! I opted to buy the Logitech combo keyboard and it’s only $139 on Amazon.
I have bouth, each comes very handy in different situations.. I wouldn't compare them cause they are two different mashines like for example you can't really work with apps and programs which require a computer software (adobe etc).

Not the MBA but I Just ordered MBP M1 upgrading from my Trusty 2015 MBP 13". Firstly, I have a biasness towards MBP (over MBA) for obvious reasons, my oldie has served me so well for 6 yr!
Secondly, I'm actually fascinated by the touch bar and I believe that it can make me actually productive and help in my Onenote workflow (as a student, controls for highlighting, changing colour of selected text, etc can come on the touchbar itself which can be a boon for me). Let's see how it goes, can't wait for it to arrive!
PS: I upgraded the Ram to 16gb to be futureproof as I'll grill it hopefully for 6 yr like I did with my previous machine!

College student got budget for one of them only. Personally i hv tasks to do which require extensive use of apple pencil plus a portable device and on the other hand MacOS is something which is macbooks bonus. Which one should i go for?

The only thing I dislike abt iPads is that they do look awkward when a keybosrd is attached to them. Besides, I’ve got an old iPad, perhaps the 2019 10.2, and its camera is located at the top…So if you’d use it as a laptop the cam angle won’t be flattering cause the device is turned to the side. Nonetheless, I strongly prefer touching the actual screen instead of the touchpad or the mouse.

Its really interesting because I came from using an Asus Windows Laptop to using an iPad Pro. A lot of people get a laptop to use for school or work and I think it really depends on what you're studying/doing for work. For example, I prefer the iPad Pro since I study Vocal Performance and a lot of my studying and classwork deals with sheet music, which when trying to use an actual laptop, it feels clunky and not as smooth as the iPad Pro. Then, if I need to ever write an essay, the Magic Keyboard does the job for me. I found myself wanting to get work done more than I used to when I finally got the iPad. I think I knocked out like 5 assignments I had to type out the day I got mine. I think people studying Music or Art might prefer the iPad Pro imo.
And I do Trombone Performance! I just bought the iPad Pro about a week ago to use primarily for sheet music, but I had surgery a few days ago and haven’t been able to play, so I’ve been exploring using my iPad for everything else. I’ve been able to use it for everything I use my MacBook Air for, and maybe I’ll start using the iPad as my primary device.

What wallpaper is that on the ipad
Two things reviewers never mention is the difference in screen ratio between the two and the difference in device security. According to many articles I’ve read, iPads are by nature more secure and the iPad’s screen - in my opinion - is way better (and I’m still using the 2018 iPad Pro). My photos don’t look nearly as sharp and beautiful on my M1 MacBook Air…sorry!

@@Unused50 because they work, have minimal power requirements, great apps, amazing speed (and both in terms of power and efficiency-with-that-power), and they all talk to each other perfectly.
ipads also have much smaller screens because of aspect ratio... regardless of what articles you read.

It was either 999 for the MacBook Air or 900 for the iPad Air m1, magic keyboard and Apple Pencil for me so I went with the iPad and I really don’t regret it I love this thing

With Magic keyboard case the ports point should go to the ipad. They both have 2 ports but the ipad will have one on each side of the device vs the current MBA and MBP have them on the left side only. It makes a difference when charging via a nightstand or having a clean desk setup,

It’s not very clean-looking having it coming out of the side of the screen though! I wish the Magic Keyboard had (ideally Thunderbolt) ports on both sides.

I own an M1 MacBook Pro and a 12.9” 2018 iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard, and personally, i use the iPad WAY more than the Mac, to the point that i only use the Mac for specific tasks my ipad cant perform or cant achieve with the same performance the Mac does, but if i were to choose between those two the ipad is a better computer, for me and my needs, taking into consideration that i do a lot of note taking with the Apple Pencil.
Tbh I’d get a MacBook Air and some refurbished iPad Pro 2018 or whatever iPad with Apple Pencil 2 support if you need to take handwritten notes.

02:58 Thanks to Scribble we no longer need a (iPad) keyboard and the pencil and touch screen does everything i need it to do.
I much prefer the RUclips/RUclips TV and Social media experiences on the iPad vs the MBA - instead of having to have them open in Safari - but I do have both. The iPad Pro has a way better screen panel as well for consuming content.
That iPad Pro screen is just incomparable. So good!
