Love the videos! Just installed the EOS Low range transfer case in my samurai too. Tough install but super satisfied once everything bolted up. Look forward to the upcoming build vids.
@@FortuneOffRoad Just installed it two nights ago so I haven't been able to get a test run yet. Soon though! Mount #3 was the toughest for me to squeeze into place but with some help from the GF we got it done.
Another great vid I just got new rims yesterday unfortunately I don’t have the resources where I am to get rebuilt transfer box but that’s a nice piece of kit 👍👍
I have stock Toyota axles that I’m installing right now, just having a hard time deciding between 4.9:1 and 6.4:1. I will be using 33s. I mostly use it as daily, and would like to trail on the weekends every now and then. Can I have your opinion on what gearing I should go with?
I think the 4.9 will do better on the road but the 6.4 will do better off road. Unless you're doing rock crawling there might not be good reason to go 6.4. If I was tou I'd probably go 4.9 👍🏻
It sounds like either would work in your situation. I would go either the 3/4" for more wiggle room. In the back I have a 3/4", front output has a 1/2" and front pinion has a 1.5". ruclips.net/video/uwM_KkeCZYY/видео.html
Stock gearing on 29" tires is 3147 rpm at 65 mph. To gear the diffs to match that with a 31" would be difficult. 4.57s would put your rpms at 3606 at 65 mph. I think transfercase gears would be best. That way you can get for example 6.4:1 in low range and your highway rpms at 65 will be 3444 which is slightly over your stock rpms at that speed, which in my opinion would be perfect. 🤙🏻
Hey just found your channel and it’s awesome! I’m In the middle of building a samurai and was wondering how did theses gears in the transfer case perform on the highway?
With the 6.4 people seem to have better luck with them not grenading. They say they run quieter and are higher quality than the 6.5 because they are made in Japan and not China. I've only ever ran thr 6.4
New subscriber with a couple questions… can you shift your twisted tt case between 4 low and 2 low, on the fly? If so, is it tricky to hit these shift positions? I really appreciate the info you are posting, thx.
Welcome! Ya know, I haven't tried. 4wd and 2wd are separated in this pattern. I have tried to go between 2L and 2H on the move and it didn't sound good. So now I just come to a stop. The real benefit of this kit is the 2L option, which I use all of the time. 🤙🏻
@@FortuneOffRoad As I understand, the high & low range are non synchronization, or crash gears. To change from one to the other, on the move, you need to have the correct revs, for the gears to mesh. Similar to a normal, old fashioned crash gearbox. With this understanding and some practice, you are able to change from high to low, and low to high, on the move.
Doing a 6.5 transfer case rebuild myself debating on doing the 2 low option ...don't want to regret not doing it later since I'll already have it apart...how often are you in 2 low and would you do it again if you had the option?
Because I don't have power steering, I'm in 2 low the majority of the time. I put it in 4 low for the hard stuff and chill in 2 low during the easier parts of the trail I use it a lot. 🤙🏻
@@FortuneOffRoad I'm actually looking at a electrical power steering now sitting on my bench that's about to get mounted under the hood. Great videos keep up the good work!
ngl, I'm gonna REALLY agitate the Ford and Suzuki community the day where I take a suzuki transfer case and put it in my mustang. My reaosn: So I don't get stuck in the snow and so I can still keep my gas mileage lol. And I like to turn people's heads. The moment they find out that my seemingly stock mustang is 4wd, they'll be asking me, "How in the hell did you do that? And why did you do it?" And my answer will be the forementioned, "Like to have traction in snow and I want to keep my gas mileage." lol
Hi Kyle, Thank you for your great idea!!!
I watching from JAPAN. And my ride is 90` Jimny.
Thanks! You guys have some awesome rigs over there. I go to Japan a few times a year!
@@FortuneOffRoad Really? I live in Tokyo. If you come to Tokyo, let me know. I want to meet you and talk about Samurai !!!
Been watching for a little while now I'm from Indiana and have a pretty good build going on my 87 sami its converted to propane, stretched, and 35s
Sounds awesome! 35s is a great tire size for samurai. Once you go bigger, things start to get weird!

How has the cradle been holding up for you?

I’m putting a cradle, twin sticks and a new driveline in my samurai tomorrow... I’ll drop some content in a few days! Thanks for the video
Cool I'll check it out 🤘🏻
what is up Kyle. great video. Nice work Sir
Love this channel!!😁
You Should've got your transfer case from John Gates. Get your transmission from him too. Love your channel
The samurai is coming along great!! And I love the MIB reference in the beginning hahaha
I hoped movie guys like you would get that!
Thank you

What size drive shaft spacers did you use? I did a spring over on my samurai and i can’t decide on 3/4 or 1 inch spacers

I'm so close! 😁 off by 0.1
Hey just found your channel and it’s awesome! I’m In the middle of building a samurai and was wondering how did theses gears in the transfer case perform on the highway?
Right on! 6.4 case gears were perfect for 31" tires 🤙🏻
So what is the difference in the 6.5 and 6.4 besides .1% lower?

Why didnt you go with the ZOR cradle
At the time I was ordering a lot of LROR products, bundled to save on shipping. The EOS cradle has a really good reputation too. 🤙🏻

HI WHERE GET THE NEW REBUILD TRANFER CASE LOW RANGE?
ALSO YOU HAVE 2 L on it what is the exact name of it and gear ROTATIO PLEASE
I bought the case from trail tough. The 2 L comes from the trail tough "twisted" kit. Gears are 6.4:1 Sumo gears. 👍🏻
How do you like the Twisted TT shift kit?
It has been awesome! I find myself using 2-Low for about 80% of the trail and shifting into 4-Low for harder obstacles.
Price on this transfer case with the goodies please??.
It all varies, head to trail tough's website and check out the different options. They might have some sales too!
i got my transfer case from TRAIL TOUGH SUZUKI STUFF, with the mighty kong gear case.
Nice, I like their products. I used the EOS case and it had been great so far.
