The fact that he was 21 years old when he recorded this song is mind boggling. The fact that he dropped out of school after the 8th grade and somehow pieced together the greatest hip hop album in history between 17.5 &20 years old isn't even comprehendible. The fact that he's put together his last three albums in a year and a half time span 30 years after his career began is even more bonkers

Yeah but you have to remember that this is win hip hop was an artform and every artist knew that he or her had to advance the culture. The goal was to out write everyone. From Rakim, to G Rap, to Kane.

This track is cleverly placed right after "The Message" and "Street Dreams" on the album "It Was Written" so as a listener you hear this detailed story about a shoot out followed by NY drug kings onward to this detailed story from a guns prospective. The three tracks really go well together and The Message is my all time tops Nas story tracks and solidified him as my favorite rapper of all time.
The combination of the outro of the previous song and the intro to this one gave the album more pop. They miss out on that.

However, I wouldn't be suprised if maybe, somebody in his crew or studio ranned the idea across him as they or he could have been in a creative process these things do happen in music so umm just saying.
