Session 1.0 is INSANELY Frustrating... (you WILL get mad)

- Every Session 1.0 video that I've posted since release day has essentially had a "goal". In this video, I really just wanted to skate around and "practice" as dumb as that sounds lol. No goal, no objective, just skate around the new maps and experience the physics and mechanics of the new Session 1.0 update. A lot of my videos have a lot of editing involved, cutting out falls, etc, so this video is definitely trying something new. Let me know your thoughts and if you enjoyed it or not!

Oh, you're still reading the description? That's kinda weird. I guess I'll tell you a bit about myself. My name is Garrett Ginner, I like skateboarding, playing video games, and having fun. I have my main channel where I post vlogs and that kinda stuff, and I decided to start this channel because I've always had a love for playing video games. Now, I'm not actually good at any video games, so I spend a lot of my time playing action games like Skater XL, Descenders, Beam NG, Skate 3, etc. but I'm always looking for new games to play. Ok I really don't know what to type here so I'm just gonna stop. Bye now.

I’m having so much fun learning this game. It’s definitely not easy, but so rewarding. Couple things for my wish list as I’m sure dev’s will maybe look through your comments
More customization, hair, hats, beards, jewelry etc. Customization is definitely lacking but I’m sure they are working on additions already. I’m sure animation updates are coming so I’m hyped for that, adding board breaking to wear and tear would be cool too. Overall, I am not disappointed. Been dreaming of a true skate sim and we finally have one.
Exactly how I feel. Love it.
im pretty sure all that customization stuff is coming idk when but we will be getting those. also animations update at some point is basically guaranteed.
Exactly how i feel too
This is how i feel to, your speaking facts
I wish Fr… I land and am like huh wtf 😂 cheers
I think I speak for most of us when I say we love to see u actually battle the tricks and take your time to get a good one. Dont be afraid to show it more often
After finally understanding how to do liptricks, i can confidently say doing grinds on transition is one of the most satisfying things in video games. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for all the bugs and other weirdness in 1.0, but it helps
getting a good 50-50 is sooo satisfying
Yeah bro I agree with you on the feel of the controls. Most game developers these days cater to players like toddlers.
I enjoy challenging and innovative games, Session for the win! ✊💯
Right? Tell that to everybody still bitching no more legacy controls. Are they even realizing they weren't actually playing SESSION when they used legacy controls?
session is so much fun i’m having a blast playing it. grinding in this game also feels and looks AMAZING. skater xl honestly is going to end up dying out. (because of lack of attention lol, it’s still at fun game) which is hard for me to say because skater xl is one of the only skate games i really fell in love with. (skate 3 was the first) it kinda sucks to see it die out.
I'm with you on that man
modded skater xl is better than 1.0 in my opinion
Session will keep giving you more and more to fall in love w/. Glad you’re enjoying it ☺️
xl is already dead
Only people are still playing it? Including sessions players. And here we're in a video about session and somehow XL still gets 🤔brought up .. interesting. 🧐
I actually prefer videos like this. It's fun to see the struggle and adjustments necessary in order to get a nice trick.
I’ve gotten myself the game! I must say that it is super hard for me to switch between SXL to Session, but i like the challenge😂 Feels good to watch someone who can actually skate in this game ❤
So good to see someone having the same issues I have with low grind alignment, sometime I think it's buggy but it is really unforgiving. Even the pop height affects if you gonn lock in the grind or not. This game is amazing
Even though it's understandable and you put yourself out of your comfort zone, it's oddly refreshing seeing someone not be perfect, if that makes sense. This game is a test of patience and many videos don't accurately portray that. Good stuff.
this was probably one of the most fun i've had watching your video in a while. i think this random skating around content is actually really fun you should do more of that!
I'm really enjoying the content man! I have missed the streams cause they are at odd time in Australia but I'm enjoying it that much om going back and watching them post! Killing man and I can see you are having way more fun with this! Keep it up
I love this style of video, also love how you show the reality of this soon to be masterpiece.
Have to say this game is sick , I have it set to hardcore and get frustrated on the countless falls, when you complete the trick desired it feels absolutely amazing
Garrett, you were right, I absolutely love Session and will also not be playing Skater XL for a long long time. I'm on Xbox one and having no issues that some others seem to be having.
Okay so I am mixed on this cause like I played skater xl can confidently say I have the game down when you go to session it’s controls make sense way more it makes you slowly hate how dumb and backwards the controls are for skater xl if you look up JL nightmares video he shows you how to make the game easy or realistic I mixed his setups together so you make the game easy but kept feet controls regular and it helps you learn how to use the toggle sticks but while auto catching and setting grinds to be easier and it helps alot while learning the game eventually I will reset everything to default again
plese could someone tell me how to fix the dlc i cnt buy anything branded its in the dlc installed section but wont work
I like the casual skating videos, I don’t skate irl but I do play this a lot and you give me cool ideas and tricks to try out when you’re just ripping around!! But I’ll watch pretty much anything you post LOL
Would you recommend the game for someone who doesn‘t skate irl?
@@blink0394 I use to skate when I was a kid but as I've gotten older I don't have much interest in skating but I still have fun with session. Makes you even want to grab a board and give it a go
@@blink0394 yes for sure! it can be very frustrating at times but it is very rewarding filming a crispy clip and watching it back. I watch a lot of video parts to learn new variations of tricks instead of just flicking the sticks and hoping for the best!!
I grew up on thps series and then later on fell in love with the ea skate series as well but I awesome to see that skateboard games didn't die nowadays. And cre-a-ture is a treat for skateboarding games. I hope they fix the impossibles and then still have a way to keep the current impossibles as well and add different options for impossibles front or back or something like that.
I love the pain this game gives me, when you land is so satisfying. And the fact that you do what you want to, like your own little goals. As a non-skater, I love this game
How did you get the dlc I got the game when it first arrived to Xbox and I don't see it in my maps
do you ever use the side pop and what about back foot front foot control
does anyone know why when i land the reverts don't work?
Dude where do i get the dlc and this park???
How do you choose what side you pop out on
how do you get those two maps.?
When I saw the title I instantly thought it being frustrating was bad but then I remembered…. It’s a sim, skating IS frustrating
it's so true. this game will get you MAD AS HELL. But when you land a trick it is sooooo satisfying.
Skateboarding games are on the fantasy and realistic styles which I think is a good move.it makes it more exciting as well enjoyable. Too a point of getting better understanding of the deck aspect and history. Thps series and ea skate series and skaterXL and session skate as well are so a gift to us skaters and non skaters or retired skaters to the point of joy. Thanks for giving the opportunity to play skateboarding games it's just what we needed and didn't need it thanks to companies and brands and veteran devs and kick starters devs as well we all thank you!! And session and skaterXL are the next generation of skateboarding games and more to come I get that easy day is taking a break from making new updates but yeah it happens. Anyways awesome video! Much love.
Having a great time so far! they need to update tre flips on xbox in goofy stance the scoop input isnt registering consistently.
I think I speak for most of us when I say we love to see u actually battle the tricks and take your time to get a good one.
I really underestimated how good everyone was haha I knew it was gonna be hard but man I struggled heaps but once you start to improve it feels so rewarding
If you press one of the bumpers on the control you’ll come off the rail to the side without getting to the end of the rail, left bumper takes you off on the left side and right bumper takes you off the right side
Do you they'll add in a transition animation from walking to skating?
Thanks for explaining how the back 180 switch 5-0’s work now I thought it was broken lol
I haven’t touched session in about a year, I’ve been playing Skater XL when I have time to game. Looking forward to getting home and playing with the settings in Session!
i play on low grind alignment, exactly where you lowered it to do that crook, and something about the last few days have just clicked for me. Still hard to lock in, but after a while you start to get more comfortable w/ it
i am amazed and schocked at the fact that garrett is skating a park from luxembourg called grund. it makes me happy to see that. u are very welcome to come visit grund/peitruss park anytime u want
Hey Garrett where do u get those wheels? They are fire
Really like these kind of vids !
Is the controls more like skate 3 or more like skater XL?
how does filming feel coming from vanilla xl? also when you get out of the tailslide at 6:52 it sounds like a sword unsheathing lmao
great vid. fun catching up on stream today
i need the controller overlay to stay! im having a hard time with some tricks and it help to see your inputs
Is there a way to slow down the animation when gets on and off the board? It’s seems like the board just teleports into his hand at the moment
Nah that's just how it is. They def got a lot of work to do still
Do you have a link to your discord? I'd love to try to set my game up how you have it!
Nice I love the content because I don't have enough money to buy the game right now 👍
I feel that shit
Feel
Not worth 50 anyways
That and, there is a very good chance it will get discounted very quickly.
@@DripBae-less yup. Regret paying full price. Feels worse than skater xl and buggy as hell. Can’t finish missions half the time.
Do you already have a setting video out?
I have definitely gotten frustrated playing the game, but it's so damn awesome. Haven't had this fun with a skateboarding game in a long time
yoo Peitruss, this is my hometown skatepark!! such a good park and representation of it. very scenic spot in the heart of the city centre, sits in the valey dividing two plateaus!
Is there a feature you can turn on Where it tells you what tricks you hit in game? I've always loved skateboarding games but I've never been a skate boarder so I don't know names for alot of tricks.
Ya you can turn on trick names, I'm not sure where the setting is located tho
Yeah you can! It’s under display settings. I’ll turn it on for my next Session video
Honest question though. Garrett, did you have problems with doing 360 flips since the update? Because I redid my settings in the stats menu and I cannot for the life of me do 360 flips consistently anymore?.
Idk who else noticed but, the Creature Hangar is just the one in the Brooklyn Banks in the building & the beta Prison map mashed into one and not under construction still. When u spawn the left side is the prison map. Right side and middle is “Creature Park” but again.. finished not in construction
As frustrating as Session is, the ragdoll physics makes it better. I find myself laughing at my crumpled corpse way more often than getting mad at myself. :D
This game is an exact example of how progression is big and learning curve is high. It feels good to get tricks right verses more arcade style skate games. My brain keeps transmitting skater xl controls. Bad habits
Any1 can explain how to do it quick shove it?
Is anyone else having issues with T-puds hucking down challenge, the bench line where you nose/tail first bench, then blunt 2nd and boardslide the bigger bench with ledge in centre of it, ive done a boardslide on every part of it and it wont register, i love the frustration but not when the game isnt recognizing a make 🤣🤣
Iv been playing this and skater xl (on console) since 2019/2020 and once session patched up that horrid bail problem i always prefferd session over skate xl. Skate xl got easy pretty quick and wasnt that tech. Session, you really gotta try which is frustrating but insanely fun. Changing all your stats to what suits you style is dope. Dont get me wrong skate xl is fun if you wanna keep it simple and not get stressed out. I just wish you could customise your skaters features more in session like hair, facial hair, facial features and things like tattoos.
I bought both session and skater XL when they became available on the Xbox store about two years ago now and I can personally say that you can log into session after hours of playing and still find new spots to get a session in on, or even after a whole year of not playing I played it once again and everything felt new and crisp; then you have skater XL where every time you play it, you feel like you’re playing the same game, same map, same tricks, over and over and over again. Session has come a long way and I hope creature studios listens to their fan base and all the feedback we have whether it be negative or positive.
They got me fucked up with the manual controls and reverts. Also, I've already done 95% of the historical challenges. My hands hurt...
Blunts with the stick always looked cleaner one of my go to tricks its too fye
Love The Session gameplay 👍👍
The missions are sort of messed up. I’ll land the trick I’m being asked to do, but it doesn’t count it. Like Daewon has a mission where you jump onto a ramp, do a flip trick off the rock, and then do a trick off. It asks for a Fakie FS 180. The game counts it only as a fs half cab, which that is what it is. So basically i can keep landing it until I’m blue in the face, but doesn’t matter because the game won’t register it as a fakie fs 180. Also the mission from Manny where you have to fs 180 onto a rail doing a switch 5050, the game doesn’t count the 5050 even though i have landed it. The missions need more work done to them.
Dude, I had trouble with both of these missions. For Daewon, are you certain you're doing the correct flip? Because I was dumb and kept doing a pressure kickflip not realizing it was specifically asking for THE pressure flip, not A pressure flip. For Manny, all I can say is keep at it, I managed to finally lock it in by planting my feet the regular way, and then immediately reversing the inputs as soon as I hit the rail or else I would slip off. That one's gonna be hell no matter what though.
I been playin on hardcore since the release of 1.0 and im actually liking the challenge session gives me and if i want to play a game easier i just go to xl for now
Manual catch takes so long to figure out, but I’ve had it on for months now, and it just feels so good once you get it
Are you playing on PC can you turn on The Controller Overlay on Console
glad you showed more of the bails n fails. thats half of skateboarding!
I feel like hard mode videos with fails are pretty sick. I enjoyed the commentary on trying to pull off a 50/50
i wish grind/slide pop outs were more consistent. I hit the same nose slide over and over, but sometimes it flips out, sometimes it doesn't.
0:36 That's one of the most impressive board slides I've seen. I'd be scared to even attempt.
Incnat figure how how to download the DLC on Series X. I'm getting too old 😂
graphic settings?
I couldn’t find out how to manual back-to-back, so after about 45 minutes of what should’ve been a simple mission (manual-gap-manual-gap-manual-flip out) made me end up putting a hole in my wall. Thanks session!
(Also, if you’re having the same problem, you have to release all inputs and then manual)
I love watching the battle...it’s more impressive when you get it just like real skating...I knew this game would be bitchin
i play 0 percent grind alignment its not impossible plus manual catch is scoop pop release sticks then catch input
I can't seem to flip trick to grind without the skater catching it in darkslide
All the fails are very entertaining lo!
I love where session is right now, you can really decide what kind of game you want to play. Whether you want to battle for individual tricks or for big lines, you’re able to dial in the difficulty.
bro literally put my controller down frustrated trying switch bs tail no pop out. and this was the video i clicked.
Its more fun to see you learn than see video that has no fails
I'm not a skater but I remember JL saying that 0 grind alignment is broken ATM because unlike IRL you can't shift your weight yet. So if you want the board to slide mid lipslide down to the trucks/wheels you can achieve it with 0 but if you want the board to stay centered all the way through you're forced to have some grind alignment.
The switching of inputs when you turn 180° is so unnatural after skater xl. Not to mention the increased difficulty. So frustrating at first...
It has a different feeling than early access.
Yep, I love it and the fact that it only feels up from here - 1.0 is the best base they could have released I think. It's one of those games too where it's hard to parse out criticism by people new to the game and the people who have more or less mastered it. I see people complaining about some bugs that aren't really bugs, or they're trying to do a trick while not knowing about to tweak their flip/stance/angle to make it work.
But then there are very valid complaints as well. I enjoy some of the jank during my battle on a spot, it can add to the battle - but then there are things, that even the devs acknowledge, like some missing animations (especially for pushing/just generally riding around) or the pop glitch. Or the mission objectives bugs that have always existed.
But as is it feels great, and to anyone who doesn't think so, if you're new please give it time. I like XL and Session, they're both worth your time. But if we're comparing the games at their base, Session is better in most aspects.
when you said "disgusting" then redid the trick, at that point i liked and subbed.
One of the historical challenges at Jerome banks won’t work the static line one anyone got anything similar happening to them
0 grind alignment isn’t realistic, you slide out of grinds you normally wouldn’t in real life, 3 notches is probably the most realistic
Got the game yesterday, and only learned Skater XL two weeks ago. Every other skate game I've played since 2000 was a THPS... FRUSTRATING like skating in real life, the progress is rewarding and 360 flips are hard!!
I really just need multiplayer and I would grind this game 24/7. I wanna test my skills with other players because I’m really competitive. They could add simple game of skate mode. Idc if there’s even lots of bugs and you get a letter for landing the right trick half the time I really wanna just play against other players.
I´m never coming back to Skater XL :D This is SO GOOD!
Just bought session today. Its so hard coming from skaterXL 😂 but when you hit tricks and film it, its the best feeling!
Pro tip for manual catch:
If you are not doing a double flip or a 360 variant of a flip you don't have to let go of the flip stick, scoop stick or both.
Instead, move the stick you watch to catch with and rotate it to the bottom for front foot, or top for back foot (slightly off center to steeze your flips a bit) without letting it go to center. It will catch it after its first flip/180 rotation automatically. You can move it slightly from the edge to go to manual as well, just don't go back to center with the stick or you will need to input a secondary flick of it to catch.
You will also still need to let go for any double flips to allow it to flip more than once and for any 360 variations of flip like treflips, laserflips etc. so that the shuv portion spins more than 180.
You can even use this to go into grinds.
Say you're doing an inward heel bs crook, do the input for an inward heel, but keep the flip stick at the edge and move it to the position for a crook. It'll make it look a lot more flowy doing it this way.
The grind part of your comment wouldn't work on "full release" settings, would it?
No it wouldn't, I forgot to mention that. The whole point of the full release setting is that you can't even input a grind unless you let the stick go back to center first.
To be honest I didn't even think to add that because I never play on full release. Being able to flip and immediately reposition my stick for a grind looks more buttery imo. Like say your doing a kickflip back crook. It would look unnatural to me for the board to fully flip the KF and then dip the nose for a crook. IRL you usually start the 45 degree turn to get into it during the flip.
Now that you have me thinking of it. If you are using Casper's on easy mode it would also prevent this from working. Because it would want to try and catch it in a Casper on every flip.
I would say it's kind of trivial though because I'm not going to lie I'm constantly turning features on and off for different types of tricks and clips so it's just another one of those features you could flick on when you want a flowy looking flip into grind.
@@SynCarClub thanks for elaborating further on this. Made. Me curious. I think I'll check that out later today.
I can't find these parks in my game?
We finally have a true skate SIM. And I feel this needs to be stresses as much as possible, as since until now, we have only seem skateboarding in the digital world as games. Now we finally have something that you can put hours upon hours into, and the reward and content, IS in itself YOUR experience and practice, and what you accomplish from said practice and experience. I just hope and wish that this reminds the gaming community that there is still reward in experience and practice. Too many games just give us what we want right away, and then 5 months later the game is dropped and we want the next one since we rely on CONTENT more then SKILL and HOW you actually play the game. In the same way of skateboarding, you can give even the simplest thing the most complex and unique way of doing said thing. The quick rant at 10:33 was EXACTLY what needed to be said and everyone should hear that. Amen dude. Like when I play this game its 80% of simply enjoying the inputs and difficulty vs what it actually looks like. Thats why sims are not for everyone, but its VERY good for us skaters, who have always dreamed of a digital means to skateboard and FEEEEEL like we are skateboarding as we control it. I am on cloud nine with this existing right now, and im going to give it my full support.
Once you get used to the controls, this game is golden
I only play in manual catch, so much more rewarding. It might take me close to a hour to get a line I like, but it’s way more fun than just doing it like 2nd try because it’s easy.
You can get up that ledge with that pop setting just got to bone it out lol
For me, I feel a bit like the controls are unintuitive and that unfortunately translates into “difficulty.” It’s like button mashing on the sticks at some times.
That said, it can be rewarding and it looks INCREDIBLE in replays/edits.
The hardest for me was definitely getting used to the triggers to turn, but now it’s so intuitive I couldn’t imagine a better layout. Everything just makes sense once you practice it some. Just my opinion, but stick with it if you’re just starting for sure
@@AJ-AI That's true, I definitely felt that way with the triggers when I started XL. My brain is definitely stuck on the Skate and XL control schemes as well. Switching between the three is tough!
I like the rough cut style of videos. Maybe even prevents people getting to frustrated when they start playing session themselves after seeing you nail next to everything. It gives a more honest view on the game, I'd say.
Really liked this! Wouldn't mind it going up towards half an hour to 40 min actually
The sound of grinding is very good! The sound of iron in iron, is more accurate from reality
The audio in this game is probably the worst ive heard in any skate game ever.. are u people fucking deaf?! Lol
Would love to see a video dedicated to learning manual catch
