2012 Ford Escape Injector Diagnosis

Ron Ananian The Car Doctor™ is looking at a 2012 Ford Escape with a P0201 Injector Circuit Cylinder 1/Open Circuit fault code and P0301 Misfire Cylinder 1 fault code. Ron begins his step-by-step diagnostic approach by breaking down the problem into three basic reasons for an engine misfire: a mechanical problem, an ignition problem or a fuel delivery problem.
Using an electric meter, Ron confirms that the injector is bad. A diagnostic diagram shows the voltage difference between a known good injector and the bad injector. The good injector shows a distinct voltage pattern that occurs as the injector is turned on and off. The other injector should show a similar pattern, however it shows no pattern at all.
Ron puts in fresh injectors and confirms they are working with a new diagnostic diagram, showing that the voltage pattern for each now matches.
