Sadly, QF didn't fly to KUL. Instead, they'll flying to Singapore, where Finnair is also fly there. QF and AY already have a codeshare each other via Singapore, as well as AY codeshare within Australia.
OneWorld was rated the world best airline alliance.

Perhaps Malaysia Airlines could take some pointers from others in One World alliance to try to improve their non -existent customer care. Other One World partners actually reply to passengers who contact them

It is good MAS joined Oneworld alliance. However, it seems that MAS only partnership with BA, not Qantas and Finnair. We noticed that Oneworld connection in Singapore is stronger thanks to BA, Finnair, Qantas, Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific. They working each other to make a better connection via Singapore. Qantas didn't have a codeshare with MAS, so it's technically difficult to make joint ventures with MAS to Europe, since Qantas already have partnership with Emirates. MAS already cuts almost entirely on European destination, making Kangaroo route in KUL is less preferrable when compare to Singapore.
If MAS join the Skyteam, it will gain an advantage on KUL-Australian route to compete with Star Alliance and Oneworld that already presence with connection in Singapore, since Star Alliance and Oneworld have a better connection via Singapore. However it seems that Skyteam is less preferrable on Australia and New Zealand, with the exception of AF and KL codeshare with Qantas flight to Australia from Singapore. Skyteam presence for VN and GA is not stronger as Star Alliance presence for SQ and TG. So it's hard to make them to expand their new destinations or resuming their destinations to make it work, particularly GA.
MAS already have a codeshare agreement with KL, MU, KE, GA, China Airlines and Saudia (Skyteam). For Oneworld, it have BA, AA, JL, CX, AY and QR. So it's relatively balanced for MAS between Skyteam and Oneworld.
This is summary for airline alliance:
Star Alliance - Have a better connection to the other parts of the world. Without doubt, Star Alliance ia the best in terms of quality of service and product. SQ, BR, NH, LH and TK is among the best.
Oneworld - Have a strong presence with QF in Australia AA and Latam in Americas and CX and JL in eastern Asia. But it less presence in Africa until Royal Air Maroc join Oneworld in 2020. QF, CX and AY is the best.
Skyteam - Have a strong presence in Europe (AF, KL, SU, AZ), North America (DL, AM) and Eastern Asia (KE, MU). But it less preferrable in India and Australia since Skyteam connection there is relatively limited. In terms of quality of services and product, it can't compete with airlines in Star Alliance. Only AF, KL and KE is good.

oneworld Alliance is not One World Order (New World Order actually), it is just an alliance to connects people from each places to other places by using a member of oneworld Alliance airline member. As an example, if you book a flight from KL to Los Angeles, you will fly with MAS and transit at designated airport and will fly with another oneworld Alliance member airline, as an example Qatar Airways, British Airways, American Airlines and etc.

Malaysia Airlines new business enterprise. Brilliant what they do is to take a Booking and the Money. They then cancel the flights and refuse to refund the fares. They are making millions.
star alliance is better because it have more than 28 members, oneworld only have 19
MAS was rejected by Star Alliance and opposed by Lufthansa. They won't ever make it happen because they know MAS have potential to beats them in the air.

This is, what l wrote to Malaysian Airlines.........
Recently l was on a Malaysian airlines flight from Qatar Doha, to Kuala Lumpur. I am writing about a concern l have, they were about 6-10 people on flight xxx that were coughing, this was not just a minor cough,these people were coughing their guts out. After been on the plane for 5 mins, A Male Steward finally came around and said "Anyone who has a cough please wear a mask, and started distributing face mask " ( that's After these people had been coughing in an confined environment for about 5mins) For the whole duration of the flight the gut renching coughing was on going. It scared me, and a lot of the non Malaysian passengers, Why were they let onboard.? One of the symptoms of covid19 was coughing, l belive 7 million people died of covid19. Not only were they coughing, they were not wearing face mask. How irresponsible is that. How irresponsible was it for the Malaysian Airlines crew to let them on-board??? Knowing there were coughing and not wearing face mask. I had to self corontine myself, because l didn't want my friend n family getting anything l might have caught. This was meant to be my first vaction in 4 years. And here l am sick. And coughing 😫. "Malaysian Airlines the Covid19 carrier".
I am so pissed off, My vaction was ruined
Been lock up in my room ,is not my idea of a vaction . I now spend my time writing, about what l went through, .Malaysian Airlines is now taking its mismanagement, corruption and "Tidak apa" attitude to an international level.
