A good review! Although I died on the inside a little when you called John Conway's cellular automaton known as Life, which was created back in the 1970 way before Microsoft even existed, "the old Windows game."

      Thank you!
I was reflecting back on the games I knew even though I was a child of the 70's I did not have access to computers until the 80's in the likes of the Apple IIc and the C64. I didn't really use a Windows PC until the 1990's
There are always earlier forms of games which I have not played before. I'm am glad there here of them as well
Many of the door games I have reviewed ended up being a revamp of an older game such as Robot Chase that was rewritten from Basic into C from the book More Basic Computer games from 1976
Its always good to hear that old games are kept alive this way
      Again I appreciate the complement

Many of the Zachtronics games are like this game they use a form of programming to complete the levels which means there can be many different ways to actually beat a level
Since this one was about BBS's and that is a passion of mine I decided to get the game and review it but the more I played it the more I felt like it was mirroring my own experiences so I decided to make it more of a retrospect than a review
I'm glad you liked the concept of the game

A real blast from the past for sure. Nice to know, as well, that there are still a few folks out there like you who had access to and used the BBS message boards of the past. As you showed aspects of the game and commented, I could hear the distinctive dial-up modem tone in my ears. 😄 I actually built up my touch typing skills by messaging friends and playing parser-based games where I'd have to quickly type in commands in order to progress. Thank you for this informative review.

Thank you for sharing and you are welcome!
I was going to do just a straight up review but the more and more I played Last Call BBS it tugged at my heart strings and it stirred up all those great times during the 90's I had on the BBS's. So It ended up being a retrospect and reviewing the game that way. I felt it was the best for me to tell my story as the game unfolded.
And you are right hearing those good old modem tones like a phantom in the back of your mind. Unfortunately in my Packard Bell the modem was also the sound card and the modem tones went though the speakers so if you didn't have them turned down it blasted your ears off
I had such a muscle memory when playing LORD that I could blow though my 20 turns for the day in a heartbeat
I am glad you enjoyed the review
