I just got mine. Does your headphone switch turn off the speakers or do the speakers continue to play? Mine switches off the headphones but not the speakers. Also if I was to tube roll it what would you recommend? Thanks
As for this amp, you don’t have many choices. The Russian made 6p6p is the only alternative. I don’t think there is Much difference. You may replace 6H8C with 6SN7, but personally, I like 6H8C more.
Got mine last wk and happy with the 6P1 amp. Do you think the 6P1P is direct replacement for stock 6P1? If so, do you think Russian 6P1P-EV gold would make any difference in sound quality ? Also 6SN7 is good replacement ? Thanks.
jin kim Yes, 6p1p is a direct replacement. As for the Russian one, it may be better, but not that much. To be honest, Personally, I like 6H8C better. To me, 6SN7 is a bit brighter, but that is my own opinion.
Mubin Loqman I have no experience with little dot, but as for this one the headphone out put is not as clean as its speakers. It has a constant audible hum.
Greetings, I bought the headphone version. It is awesome. My amp is six month old and still perfect. No hum, or hiss. Sound stage and bass impressive. Highs warn not harsh. My return to tubes after 30 years. Put SS to shame. Am deliriously happy with it! The headphone version is much more flexible and recommended.
The sound is quite clean. As for how loud it is hard to describe, you can see from this recording the volume is only turned to 9 o'clock, so it is up to you to make a judgement. However, remember, 6P1P is not a powerful amplifier. This amp claims to deliver 6.8W, but in my opinion it is only about 3W non clip at most with high efficiency speakers (above 90db).
Also, if you really want to get one, I would recommend germtune X1 with EL34 which is much more powerful than this one. That one is about the same price.
Had mine for a little over a month and I'm returning it. Had a power problem that would cause it to shut off multiple times when it was first fired up. Also, power tubes are generic Chinese/Russian tubes that you won't find decent equivalents for as well as the fact they are very low power tubes. I'd stay away from this one and get an amp with at least EL34's in it.
The 6p1 is a 6p1p, the 6s7n is 6h8c or 6n8s & the 5z4p is just 5z4g 10e/598 made by Brimar, Mullard & loads of others. How many types of equivalent valves do you need? Plus, it clearly says in all descriptions, 6.8w!!! Just because you got a defective one doesn't mean you should make up stuff about it. I bought a dodgy Milwaukee drill & a minicraft drill that ran backwards but both these products are still good, I was just unlucky.

Song is nice. What is it called?
it is a Chinese Mandarin song. The song is called Vagueness or 曖昧, by Su Man, 蘇曼.
Why aern't the meters moving?
Cause it the volume is too low. This is not an input meter nut out put monitoring meter.
For the headphone out, how does it compare to something like the darkvoice 336e & little dot mkii?

I have the one with the headphone amp. All I can say is that the sound is great. It has the warmest typical of a good tube rig.
I'm thinking of buying this amplifier, does it have a clean sound? How loud does it sound? When it is loud, does the sound hear clean?

Did you purchase? Also looking at one of these. You had headphones plugged in the headphone jack? Curious as to what the red switch is. Thanks
Terry Mann Yes. The red button is for releasing the headphone.

@@Arckivio It's a waste of money but it's your money to waste. And being that I actually owned it, how do you determine what I'm "making up"?
Tubes are only made in three places. Russia, China, and the Czech Republic. Lol.
It probably shorted out because it was designed for 110v. You need to get a power transformer for USA.
